(copied to discussion page) Because I was wikifying a tiny Croatia article stub in the "needs Wikifying" bin and I did not want it to be an orphan article. I know nothing about Croatia and will avoid wikifying Croatian articles in the future. Feel free to orphan it so it can eventually be deleted. I have no investment in the article. No good deed goes unpunished! Regards, --Mattisse 13:05, 28 September 2007 (UTC)

I did put it in Split. One link does not remove the orphan status from an article. I know nothing about Croatia. So I am going to forget about it and let fate take its course. --Mattisse 14:41, 28 September 2007 (UTC)

Hi. I've rejected Wikipedia:Abuse reports/205.127.86.4 because the account has only been blocked one time (in March '07). Not enough recent disruption nor blocks to for an investigation at this time. Thanks, Rjd0060 (talk) 00:17, 6 December 2007 (UTC)

Tunnels in Zagreb

Hi, you claim that "tunnels are in city plan". I've just looked last revision (August 2007) at [1], and there are no tunnels. Idea is attributed to Mr. Dadic, from traffic institute, and is w/o any real foundations. Additionally, if something is in plan, it is not planned to be built, but only there's possibility to be built and that space is reserved (cf. Aquapark in New Zagreb, 1st Parallel Avenue in New Zagreb, Northern Tangent in Podsljeme etc). We can put then all of these stuffs in article... Plantago (talk) 09:34, 11 January 2008 (UTC)

Protecting Zagreb

Since you declined the request for semi-protection of Zagreb, could you please offer me some other option because I'm not really familiar with an issue like an edit war with IP. Is there something I can do to settle it? Admiral Norton (talk) 20:59, 29 April 2008 (UTC)

Re.Proposal to amend WP:UE

Hello Admiral Norton and thank you for requesting my feedback. Your proposal looks good, but I found the items in point no. 2 rather ambiguous. I mean, I had to read them a few times to understand whether they are stating what should be done or what should not be done when it comes to digraphs, trigraphs, etc.. Perhaps some rephrasing could help. Still, well done. :-) Regards, Húsönd 00:04, 8 July 2008 (UTC)

I tried to make it easier to read. Sadly, I don't know how to put this into prose while retaining the legibility. Maybe you could try to modify something you think is badly written. This proposal is still far from the UE talk page. Admiral Norton (talk) 10:30, 8 July 2008 (UTC)

Well, did You see this? -- Bojan  18:23, 8 July 2008 (UTC)

That strikes out the non-Latin part. I didn't intend to change it anyway, though. Thanks for pointing me to this page. Admiral Norton (talk) 18:30, 8 July 2008 (UTC)

Rollback granted

After reviewing your request for rollback, I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
  • Rollback can be used to revert vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback may be removed at any time.

If you no longer want rollback, then contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some information on how to use rollback, you can view this page. I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, just leave me a message if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Happy editing! PeterSymonds (talk) 20:27, 8 July 2008 (UTC)

I must say that by now I feel more than a bit despondent about it; since you've been involved in it too, I guess there's no need to explain why. :) For a recent example see Talk:Parni Valjak. GregorB (talk) 08:42, 9 July 2008 (UTC)

Bauhaus disambiguation

Hi there, I had a look at the disambiguation you have created and renamed the "Staatliches Bauhaus" "Bauhaus (design)" this is more appropriate as Bauhaus is a "approach to design" or "school of design", while "Staatliches Bauhaus" is the actual name of the school out of which this approach emerged. I am German, and got my Bauhaus taught in school, and honestly, I never heard anybody refer to "Bauhaus" as "Staatliches Bauhaus". This is apparent in the fact that someone added "Bauhaus" as in the approach to design to the disambiguation page and apparently thought that Wikipedia has no article on "Bauhaus".... in any case.... Could you help with the disambiguation of all the articles that link to "Bauhaus", most of them refer to "Bauhaus (design)" and there is quite a number of them... can we do this automatically, as it will take a long time to do this manually??? --SasiSasi (talk) 18:58, 16 July 2008 (UTC)

It is taken care of now. Bauhaus (design) was moved back to Bauhaus, since there is no way to automatically change links without programming a bot and that would be a huge hassle. Admiral Norton (talk) 21:01, 16 July 2008 (UTC)

it was a good effort though....x --SasiSasi (talk) 15:24, 17 July 2008 (UTC)

Indiana's DOB=

I see that there has been an edit with a citation based upon a user's comment on an amazon.com page. However, I am not sure whether that would be this musician's true age. There have also been comments that she is in her 40's on other websites. There are pages that state that she is in her twenties as well. I feel that at this point in our research, we have no idea how old this musician is. Does anybody have a verifiable DOB for this musician? Do you have contact details as to ask for a proper D.O.B from the person? Since we don't seem to be capable of a reliable source, I wonder if we could perhaps ask? Littleredm&m (talk) 21:47, 22 July 2008 (UTC)

I have found August 12, 1971 on what seems to be one of Indiana's Internet profiles, but I'll have to get a proper source on that matter before I put it in the article. Wikieditor2008 has apparently found a source for her being 36-37 years old by now, but I'm afraid I had no luck finding something more precise. I don't know about asking Gregg in person; I hadn't thought of it and I don't see any rules pertaining to it. It seems to be some sort of a grey area. Admiral Norton (talk) 10:04, 23 July 2008 (UTC)

Glagoljica

It's highly rated by Bulgarian and Ukrainian Wikiproject Talk:Glagolitic alphabet. But more than 80% of Glagolithic inscriptions were found in the territory of Croatia and written in Chakavian Croatian. At least, Wikiproject:Croatia deserves to be there , don't you think? Zenanarh (talk) 13:38, 29 July 2008 (UTC)

Of course, glagoljica was a writing system for the Croatian language for a long time. I added it as a high-importance article. BTW thank you for your support in my UE proposal. Admiral Norton (talk) 14:04, 29 July 2008 (UTC)

Edit summary counter

The Template:User ESU uses a defunct, probably your edit summary counter (judging from the username ~aoleg). I was thinking to implement the Mathbot's counter, but it doesn't operate by appending something of the like of "?username=ExampleUser&wiki=en". Could you enable it as an option at least or resurrect the old counter so that the template can work properly? Admiral Norton (talk) 18:33, 22 July 2008 (UTC)

Sorry for taking that long to respond, I've not been that active on Wikipedia lately. That link was dead indeed, since I changed jobs and my old account expired. I fixed the ESU template to point to the new link. Thanks for your note! Oleg Alexandrov (talk) 02:40, 3 August 2008 (UTC)

indiana gregg

I've just come back from holiday and noticed that you have left a message on my talk page about me being a sockpuppet. I have just looked at the indiana gregg discussion page and noticed that there has been a lot of activity and also that the page has been locked. I can assure you that I am not any sockpuppet. It does seem strange that some of the other individuals that you accused of sockpuppeting were also doing devious things on the Indiana Gregg page. One was warned by phil sandifer. Another was plotting to publish her divorce, one has a german name 'wettendass' and another one has a scottish name (three of the editors used 2008 following their username). I don't know why you accused me, but, I guess I passed the wiki test. At any rate, I'm not anyone else other than me, so, I hope you don't accuse me in the future. Best, amy:) the carribeanqueen —Preceding unsigned comment added by Carribeanqueen (talkcontribs) 21:43, 4 August 2008 (UTC)

From the way Wikipedia:Suspected sock puppets/Carribeanqueen looks like, you have been cleared of all the suspicion (actually, it seems that a checkuser hasn't been done on you yet, but I have neither the time, nor the will to act mala fide and push it to the end). As a small friendly notice, you don't have to press Enter every time you reach the end of the line, the edit box uses word wrap feature; and please post new messages on the bottom of the talk page using the "new section" button near the "edit this page" button. Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:Slavonska-Držićeva sa sjevera.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. J Milburn (talk) 14:19, 8 August 2008 (UTC)

Following English language sources

Hi. I noticed the question you posted to me here. I would encourage you to check out this page, which is still a work in progress. Those are only the discussions that I've personally closed, but if you examine the history at Wikipedia:Requested moves, I think you'll find that we've been very consistent for years about following English language press. Please feel free to reply, here or at my talk page. I'm in the middle of a long road trip just now, but I'll be able to log in occasionally and check on things. -GTBacchus(talk) 20:47, 9 August 2008 (UTC)

That is a long list, but I didn't see any Serbian names or places there. Novak Djokovic is the only page that retains a title spelled in another way than the official Serbian spelling (barring all the expatriates, exiled, Serbian-Americans and alike). Admiral Norton (talk) 21:00, 9 August 2008 (UTC)
Well, is there any reason that Serbian names should be treated differently than names in any other language? -GTBacchus(talk) 15:12, 16 August 2008 (UTC)
Frankly, I don't see any specific lack of diacritics in other language articles. Serbia is at least consistent in this matter and I have seen more such consensuses, like the use in articles about people from Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Hungary, etc. to name a few. Admiral Norton (talk) 21:33, 17 August 2008 (UTC)
Well, Wikipedia is a big place. My experience, working in move requests, has been that there is a consistent consensus to follow English language sources. As for pages that don't pass through WP:RM, I can't say. I would like to see what the community thinks if the question is raised explicitly, rather than relying on anecdotal evidence, whether it be yours or mine. -GTBacchus(talk) 13:23, 20 August 2008 (UTC)

Thank you for uploading images/media to Wikipedia! As you may know, there is another Wikimedia Foundation project called Wikimedia Commons, a central media repository for all free media. In future, please upload media there instead (see m:Help:Unified login). That way, all of the other language Wikipedias can use them too, as well as our many sister projects. This will also allow our visitors to search for, view and use our media in one central location. If you wish to move previous uploads to Commons, see Wikipedia:Moving images to the Commons (you may view images you have previously uploaded by going to your user contributions on the left and choosing the 'image' namespace from the drop down box). Please note that non-free content, such as images claimed as fair use, cannot be uploaded to the Wikimedia Commons. Help us spread the word about Commons by informing other users, and please continue uploading!--OsamaK 22:07, 10 August 2008 (UTC)

Account creator granted

After reviewing your request for the account creator tool, I have enabled the flag on your account. Keep in mind these things:

  • The account creator tool removes the limit on the maximum number of new accounts that can be created in a 24-hour period. It does not remove the anti-spoofing measures, preventing inappropriate or similar usernames; such requests must be handled by administrators.
  • The account creator tool is not a status symbol. If it remains unused, it is likely to be removed. Abuse of the account creator tool will result in its removal by an administrator.

If you no longer require the tool, let me know, or ask any other administrator. Drop a note if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of the account creator tool. Happy editing! PeterSymonds (talk) 16:29, 11 August 2008 (UTC)

DYK filing order

This is a really trivial request, but I've just corrected one entry after you moved it for the second time, so I thought I'd better say something! Articles nominated for DYK should be filed under the day they were created (or expanded, etc - the day they qualified, basically) per the instructions here, rather than the day they were nominated... Thanks. Shimgray | talk | 14:37, 15 August 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for notice. I didn't know that before. Admiral Norton (talk) 14:39, 15 August 2008 (UTC)
No problem - it's because the important consideration is the age of the article, so we can handle them in the right order and ensure we get as many as possible before they're "too old" to use. Most get nominated when created, which is simple enough, but a few aren't listed until a few days later and so it can get confusing otherwise... Shimgray | talk | 14:43, 15 August 2008 (UTC)
I know, I currently have my first DYK nomination listed and the deadline is today. Sadly, I haven't got any response yet. Admiral Norton (talk) 14:45, 15 August 2008 (UTC)

Hi Admiral Norton. Much as I'd like to help out, I'm expecting my second child next week - so my WP time is likely to become rather limited :) I think you're really rather well on your way anyway, but if you want some "edges smoothed" you might need to get hold of someone else due to my likely low levels of activity on the near future. Hey, like Pedro, my WP time is getting a bit limited (and I'm going to my new school in a few weeks, so I have no idea what my schedule will look like), so I don't know whether I can devote enough time to a second coachee. Cheers, sephiroth bcr (converse) 21:53, 20 August 2008 (UTC)

Admin coaching

I'd be more than willing to coach you. However, I'd like to wait about a week or two because I have another RFA coming up and I have some other requests that I need to handle. In the meantime though, I'd like you to carefully look over Wikipedia:Administrators' reading list and make sure that you know how Wikipedia works and what it's all about. bibliomaniac15 22:41, 21 August 2008 (UTC)

All right, I've created your admin coaching page at User:Admiral Norton/Admin coaching. Please answer the questions so that we may continue. My goal in admin coaching is to make sure that you know about administrative policy and that you know how to apply them, and also to boost your confidence in yourself. If I forget to update, please let me know. Remember that I'm not your boss, I'm just someone who wants to see you improve as an editor. Therefore, ask me questions about anything you would like another perspective on or don't understand, and treat me just like another editor. bibliomaniac15 00:41, 27 August 2008 (UTC)

my edit

I made an edit on the Indiana Gregg page because it looks like an advertisement for a songwriting competition and the wording about people "challenged in maths" sounds derogatory. I did not see citations from any source that shows the she paid for the entries either. So, I think that you will find that my edit makes sense. Also, I did not see any discussion about this in the discussion page. I don't know who carribeanqueen is so I don't know why you would leave me a message about that. Indiana was recently in my local paper last week and I think that the section of the page about the song contest looks like straight forward advertising which wikipedia doesn't allow.Marieanne42 (talk) 15:24, 23 August 2008 (UTC)

hi again, yes, that sounds normal to me. I think that the part about the number of entries is all right. I just think that listing the entry fees sounded like the UK songwriting contest was trying to advertise on the pages of their artists, that's all. I have added a few things to the article and was going to try to read about how to make the 'ref' work. I was going to try to make a page about some other bands here in Scotland that don't seem to have wikipedia pages yet. I was wondering, do I just start a page, or do I need to ask permission?Marieanne42 (talk) 20:09, 24 August 2008 (UTC)

hey thanks. That's cool then. If I start an article and there isn't much information on the band yet except for what is on their myspace page or website, do I ask the band for more information. (For example, I don't know where all the member's come from. I know two of them are from Fife though but the band plays mostly in Edinburgh. Should I just create a small article anyway based on what they have on their web pages? I'd like to start it in the next couple of days once I get a better idea of how music articles go. It would be great if you have a look at it afterwards maybe? Thanks againMarieanne42 (talk) 11:41, 25 August 2008 (UTC)

Translation

Hi. As I can see you are Cro-Eng translator. Can I ask you to translate the history sections of the Zadar article in hr.wiki to English (sections: Rani srenji vijek, Zadar u Srednjem vijeku, od 15. do 18. st.). You can send it to my talk page, or E-mail from my preferences. I'd like to use it here, enriched with some additional data, but I need a good quality translation, I'm not 100% sure in my English. Thanks. Zenanarh (talk) 07:06, 25 August 2008 (UTC)

Zadrans, I don't know, Aradic-es used Zadrans and Splitians for making a joke about Split and Zadar here [3], Ivan Štambuk is a linguist, maybe he knows. I'll ask him. Maybe Zadar people? Or Zadar citizens? If not Zadrans... Zadrans sounds good to me... Zenanarh (talk) 18:31, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
