I see that you created this article and cited his entry in "Stained Glass Marks and Monograms" by Joyce Little. Do you still have access to this publication? Thanks for the vote of confidence, but having looked at the Azzam Pasha quotation article, I think it is rather more of a hornet's nest than this one, and I'm not especially inclined to touch a question so far from my areas of expertise. I tried to trim back "bride is beautiful" to something that addressed the issues raised at AFD (which is one of the things that AFD is good for). Yes, unfortunately another admin immediately deleted it. Again notability issue. Also I could find only 4-5 good references in newspaper and a couple more in the school website but nothing beyond that and information about her is very limited. I don't intend to change Vilnius, but this case is different from Kraków. Kraków name stayed the same throughout history, as far as its mostly Polish speaking inhabitants were concerned. Vilnius, however, became throughout polonized, to a degree that its Lithuanian name was not used much for several centuries (it was inhabited, in 1939, by something like 40% Poles, 40% Jews, and <10% Lithuanians). The name Wilno is also used in English literature. It is often a good idea to mention it in text if the subject is related to Poland and concerns the polonized period. It is not required, though. (It's a little bit like the Constantinopole/Instanbul case, for example; see also WP:NCGN for some relevant reading). --_{Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here} 16:33, 20 October 2012 (UTC)

Well, reading that, what strikes me is that if a widely accepted historic English name for a specific historical context has preference, and it should be followed by the modern English name in parentheses on the first occurrence of the name in applicable sections of the article in the format: "historical name (modern name)", then we should be using Cracow in the Montelupi article, with Cracow (Kraków) at first mention... --Andreas Philopater (talk) 22:46, 20 October 2012 (UTC)

Hello. As a participant in Wikipedia:Requests for comment/Abortion article titles, you may wish to register an opinion on its followup RFC, Wikipedia:Requests for comment/Abortion advocacy movement coverage, which is now in its community feedback phase. Please note that WP:RFC/AAMC is not simply a repeat of WP:RFC/AAT, and is attempting to achieve better results by asking a more narrowly-focused, policy-based question of the community. Assumptions based on the previous RFC should be discarded before participation, particularly the assumption that Wikipedia has or inherently needs to have articles covering generalized perspective on each side of abortion advocacy, and that what we are trying to do is come up with labels for that. Treccani image

Hi Andreas. I saw your question in the edit summary. The image on it.wiki cannot be transferred to Commons because it's not quite free. But I believe it's "free enough" for en.wiki so you can copy the image on it.wiki and upload it on en.wiki. You should also copy the source info from it.wiki and use the template {{PD-Italy}}. I should say that while I have a solid understanding of the basic rules surrounding images on en.wiki, I'm no expert so you might want to double-check the info I just gave. Kraków

I wish to warn you about MiG29VN's behavior. He has falsely, deceptively and deviously blamed me of "vandalism" (as evidence here) and explained here (the paragraph begins with "The main reason the inclusion of the Hue Massacre "Dispute/Denial" section"'), in order to get other editors to swiftly remove content from others that he doesn't like and get editors on his side. Now he's blaming you for "vandalism". This is just to let you know what he's doing.

Hi Andreas! Yeah, I had a back and forth with another Editor last week, and I don't have the skills or time to populate all of the links and whatever needs to be done. I'm older, and all of this is terribly confusing to me. I just bit off more than I can chew here, so I'll have somebody do all of the necessary things at some point in the future. I understand that all of this will be deleted, and that's fine.

Thanks for taking the time to send me a message! I'll revisit all of this when I can hire someone qualified to do all of the technical stuff that is so beyond me.

Scott Card racist?

(Note: Per wp:CANVASSING I am "non-biasedly" advertising a topic for discussion by posting a notice on the ten most recent users who commented on the page in question's talkpage and also the ten most recent users who edited the article in question.)

Commentators continue to reference/allege Card's piece involving a fictional, future Obama's coup d'état by way of urban guirillas as racist (eg see here in Slate, 2013; here, HuffPo, 2013; here, Wired, 2014). Should our article mention this aspect of controversy with regard to the piece here: "Orson Scott Card#Politics"?

Speed

I just happened to be flicking through New Pages. I was always getting tagged when I started, doing things in draft (eg. creating a page User:Andreas Philopater/Audrey Butt Colson) with a userspace draft template on top, working on it gradually, and transferring it onto the main Wikipedia site afterwards made life a lot simpler. --The Vintage Feminist (talk) 20:36, 28 December 2014 (UTC)

Copyright notices

Hey Andreas. Appreciate the tagging of Sonoma State University School of Science and Technology as a copyvio. It's important work. Just came her to clarify an issue that is raised by what you wrote on the now deleted talk page. We assume full and non-free copyright unless there's a specific and compatible free copyright license (or public domain release) that can be positively shown. Part of the reason for this is pragmatism, but it's also because non-free copyright of sufficiently creative works automatically vests in the owner of the work upon creation and no displayed license is needed under copyright law for the copyright to obtain (there are some exceptions like works of employees of the U.S. Federal government created as part of that person's official duties, but they're beyond the scope here).

All this is to say that you don't need to bother hunting down whether the source of copied and pasted text bears an affirmative notice, or worry if you find none. I didn't for a moment suspect you of setting out to trip me up, and I would hope you don't imagine I'm doing anything similar. There are only so many wet and windy Saturday afternoons in a year, after all, and a job like this takes a couple of hours to be done properly. Incidentally, I've spotted quite a number of articles categorised as "Year in Europe" that could be recategorised to Dutch Republic, Habsburg Netherlands, or Southern Netherlands.
