Proposed deletion of Heino Finkelmann

The article Heino Finkelmann has been proposed for deletion. The proposed-deletion notice added to the article should explain why.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The Speedy Deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and Articles for Deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. LeilaniLad (talk) 00:27, 21 July 2009 (UTC)

Broken Coords

Hi. I'm trying to clean up Category:Coord template needing repair. In a comment last year — long-since archived in Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard/Archive 15#Sheylanli — you said:

  • Where does it claim that they are refugee camps built for the people who use to live in Sheylanli? Please reread the caption, it says Takhta Korpu Lachin winter pastures . If you wish to see the location on the Google Earth, here are the coordinates: {{coord |40|07|65|N|47|35|20|E}}. Please make sure to look at refugee camps in the same area as well, coordinates of some refugee camps are 40°05′38″N 47°31′52″E / 40.09389°N 47.53111°E / 40.09389; 47.53111, {{coord |40|07|80|N|47|31|04|E}} (note the wight long "building" which is in the first image). Most of refugees from Lachin have been settled in winter pastures in that area which are not officially referred as refugee camps but graves of live people. I hope this will help to clear up things. Gülməmməd Talk 16:40, 15 June 2008 (UTC)

A couple of the coordinates have the seconds figure outside the proper range of 0 <= s < 60. I thought you might have meant either of these sets of coordinates,

, but I didn't see anything noteworthy there. I could just nowiki them as above, but if you happen to remember what the right coords were, I could put them in.
—WWoods (talk) 07:48, 7 August 2009 (UTC)

There's a copy of the same text in User:Gulmammad/sandbox.
—WWoods (talk) 15:21, 7 August 2009 (UTC)

Hi. The coordinates 40°07′65″N 47°35′20″E and 40°05′38″N 47°31′52″E / 40.09389°N 47.53111°E / 40.09389; 47.53111 are not the same with 40°04′35″N 47°21′07″E / 40.0765°N 47.3520°E / 40.0765; 47.3520 and 40°03′14″N 47°18′55″E / 40.0538°N 47.3152°E / 40.0538; 47.3152, respectively. Once again I checked and 40°07′65″N 47°35′20″E and 40°05′38″N 47°31′52″E / 40.09389°N 47.53111°E / 40.09389; 47.53111 are the right coordinates of the places in our discussion. If you could, please nowiki all of them except in articles about those locations. Otherwise, in google earth there will be icons linking to these pages. Thanks! Zitterbewegung Talk 19:07, 7 August 2009 (UTC)
40°07′65″N 47°35′20″E can't be right, since you can't have more than 60 seconds in a minute. Geohack is robust, and is automatically converting that link to 40°08′5″N 47°35′20″E / 40.13472°N 47.58889°E / 40.13472; 47.58889. Is that the location you mean?
—WWoods (talk) 20:25, 7 August 2009 (UTC)
You've got a point, it cannot be 65. Despite that both of them show the same location (which i meant) on the interactive map so it must be 05 instead of 65. P.S. By 0 <= s < 60 I thought you meant geographical range. Zitterbewegung Talk 00:31, 8 August 2009 (UTC)
I've rolled them all over (here too). Thanks. —WWoods (talk) 00:59, 8 August 2009 (UTC)

Thank you

Hello, Gulmammad. Thank for the welcome, although I have moved (originally replaced, but decided to rephrase it) your welcome message on my userpage. This decision was in no way any sign of disrespect nor, just plain being rude. I moved it down, for the simple reason that, it was both blocking my welcome message, and my Table of Contents. - Thank you for the welcome, and the warm response. Cheers! - Rttam (talk) 00:20, 14 October 2009 (UTC)

Hello

I recently stumbled upon your userpage, and found it amazingly beautiful. If you developed your userpage, you have some unique talent! - Rttam (talk) 23:02, 13 October 2009 (UTC)

I award you this barnstar for your excellent user page. Jeffrey Mall (talkcontribs) - 01:04, 15 October 2009 (UTC)
Hi Jef, thanks for the barnstar. Actually, I have done nothing besides just putting together the layouts of Juliancolton and Tiptoety. I've credited them in the edit summary ([1][2]) but later forgot to put explicitly on the page. So I guess they are the ones to get the barnstar not me :) But I must tell that I am not gonna refuse the barnstar as long as Obama doesn't his Nobel Prize... :) Zitterbewegung Talk 04:57, 15 October 2009 (UTC)

You are now a Reviewer

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, will be commencing a a two-month trial at approximately 23:00, 2010 June 15 (UTC).

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under flagged protection. Flagged protection is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 17:26, 15 June 2010 (UTC)

Unreferenced BLPs

Hello Gulmammad! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot notifying you on behalf of the the unreferenced biographies team that 1 of the articles that you created is currently tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 317 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

  1. Ismet Bozan - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL

Thanks!--DASHBot (talk) 09:51, 19 August 2010 (UTC)

The article Ismet Bozan has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

I created this article long ago when I wasn't much experienced here. Now I see there is no a single reliable source talking about the subject and therefore I nominate it for delation. Gulmammad | talk 01:12, 20 August 2010 (UTC)

Gulmammad | talk 01:12, 20 August 2010 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on File:Logo of ans.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Fair use rationale for File:Butter sculpture.JPG

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Butter sculpture.JPG. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Kelly hi! 01:46, 29 December 2010 (UTC)

Butter sculptures

The deletion of the image was actually related to this discussion - yes, even though the sculptures are made out of butter, they still show the creative energy necessary for copyright, so they can only be used under fair use. Ice sculptures are treated the same way. So to have a picture of one here, it would need to have a rationale under {{Non-free 3D art}}. Kelly hi! 01:22, 15 January 2011 (UTC)

If there have been a consensus on the issue, then I have nothing to say. Thanks! Gulmammad | talk 20:02, 15 January 2011 (UTC)

File permission problem with File:Cover of azerbaijani passport.JPG

Thanks for uploading File:Cover of azerbaijani passport.JPG. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 22:18, 12 May 2011 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (File:Top r1 c7.jpg)

Thanks for uploading File:Top r1 c7.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:15, 26 July 2012 (UTC)

Warning: In the Azerbaijan article, the map of Azerbaijan showing its de-jure borders is relentlessly being replaced with map which shows Nagorno-Karabakh as a legitimate entity

User:MauriManya is relentlessly replacing in the infobox of the Azerbaijan article, the map "Azerbaijan (orthographic projection).svg" which shows Azerbaijan with its de-jure borders and is replacing it with the map "Azerbaijan with Nagorno Karabakh and region.svg" which shows Nagorno-Karabakh as a legitimate entity. The user is not impartial and neutral and is only and relentlessly doing this unilateral map replacement in the Azerbaijan article, but interstingly enough not in other articles of countries which are in the same situation as Azerbaijan. Could you watch this user and revert his unilateral map replacements of Azerbaijan in the country article. Yemen Türküsü

When two articles on the very same subject are created the usual practice in WP is to tag one of them for merging. I don't like this approach. I think it's best to call the editors for collaboration. Now Lament of Yemen and Yemen Türküsü are almost the same article save for a few words. How about metrging them ? Nedim Ardoğa (talk) 10:23, 11 January 2013 (UTC)

WikiCup 2013 February newsletter

Round 1 is now over. The top 64 scorers have progressed to round 2, where they have been randomly split into eight pools of eight. At the end of April, the top two from each pool, as well as the 16 highest scorers from those remaining, will progress to round 3. Commiserations to those eliminated; if you're interested in still being involved in the WikiCup, able and willing reviewers will always be needed, and if you're interested in getting involved with other collaborative projects, take a look at the WikiWomen's Month discussed below.

Round 1 saw 21 competitors with over 100 points, which is fantastic; that suggests that this year's competition is going to be highly competative. Our lower scores indicate this, too: A score of 19 was required to reach round 2, which was significantly higher than the 11 points required in 2012 and 8 points required in 2011. The score needed to reach round 3 will be higher, and may depend on pool groupings. In 2011, 41 points secured a round 3 place, while in 2012, 65 was needed. Our top three scorers in round 1 were:

  1. Colorado Sturmvogel_66 (submissions), primarily for an array of warship GAs.
  2. London Miyagawa (submissions), primarily for an array of did you knows and good articles, some of which were awarded bonus points.
  3. New South Wales Casliber (submissions), due in no small part to Canis Minor, a featured article awarded a total of 340 points. A joint submission with Alaska Keilana (submissions), this is the highest scoring single article yet submitted in this year's competition.

Other contributors of note include:

Featured topics have still played no part in this year's competition, but once again, a curious contribution has been offered by British Empire The C of E (submissions): did you know that there is a Shit Brook in Shropshire? With April Fools' Day during the next round, there will probably be a good chance of more unusual articles...

March sees the WikiWomen's History Month, a series of collaborative efforts to aid the women's history WikiProject to coincide with Women's History Month and International Women's Day. A number of WikiCup participants have already started to take part. The project has a to-do list of articles needing work on the topic of women's history. Those interested in helping out with the project can find articles in need of attention there, or, alternatively, add articles to the list. Those interested in collaborating on articles on women's history are also welcome to use the WikiCup talk page to find others willing to lend a helping hand. Another collaboration currently running is an an effort from WikiCup participants to coordinate a number of Easter-themed did you know articles. Contributions are welcome!

A few final administrative issues. From now on, submission pages will need only a link to the article and a link to the nomination page, or, in the case of good article reviews, a link to the review only. See your submissions' page for details. This will hopefully make updating submission pages a little less tedious. If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send.
