Martin Perna page

Hi Nick

This is Martin Perna writing. I'm a musician and I was on Wikipedia updating the Antibalas band page (I'm the founder of the band) along with some other album credits and updated information, as well as my biographical page.

I got a message that the page would be marked for speedy deletion, and that there was a conflict with my other username Ocotesoul making these edits. I followed the instructions to set up a different username (Pernacchio).

I just wanted to write and make sure my bio page wouldn't be deleted and to better understand the process if I ever need to make edits or updates, and also if I need to post links to articles about me and my band (we were recently profiled in the New York Times, Wall St. Journal, and appeared on 8/24 on national television on the Jimmy Fallon Show)

Thanks for your clarification and thanks for your work in helping keep Wikipedia running smoothly

Hello and thank you for your message. Please have a look at some crucial policies that help guide Wikipedia: Reliable Sources, Neutral Point of View, and Conflict of Interest. When making edits that are likely to seem controversial to other editors, it is imperative that these edits be accepted by consensus and verifiable by reliable sources. It is also strongly advised to discuss these changes on the article's talk page before making them. When you make an edit like that without any edit summary, it is likely to be seen as pushing a non-neutral point of view. --NickContact/Contribs 04:10, 19 February 2013 (UTC)

"Unconstructive" edits? Why? Please tell me. Just beacuse you don't know who Nicolas Claux is doesn't mean I'm a vandal. 201.215.122.10 (talk) 04:50, 19 February 2013 (UTC)

I deeply apologize if your edits were incorrectly identified as being unconstructive. That article has had recent history with removal of unsourced material that violated the Biography of Living Persons guideline. Another editor had undone your edit and left you a message on your talk page. You reinserted the content without discussing or providing an edit summary. These factors led to a quick assessment. I would recommend discussing future issues on the article's talk page, including a brief edit summary, and providing sources. --NickContact/Contribs 05:01, 19 February 2013 (UTC)

Talk:Scrum (development)

Any chance you want to take over with user Jeffnailen at Talk:Scrum (development)? He just called me a liar after accusing me of reverting his edits without clearly indicating that those edits were made as an anon. I asked him to strike the statement (I'm not sure that the logic that there is no way to associate an IP with him is clear to him) and instead he "warned" me again in the next edit. I'm afraid that I will break NPA if I stick around and "discuss" any longer with the editor. Walter Görlitz (talk) 22:46, 28 February 2013 (UTC)

Thank you for your message. I have also left you a message on your talk page, but I will state it again here as well as an update based on your message. First of all, if you disagree with the article's title, the solution is not to keep blanking the page. That will not solve anything and it is highly disruptive. If you want the article moved back to the other title, discuss it on the article's talk page.
Now, based on your statement above that you are involved with the subject of the article, I need to strongly advise you to read our conflict of interest guidelines and understand that you do not own the article, anyone can edit it. Editing that can be interpreted as disruptive, coupled with an admitted conflict of interest, can lead to your account being blocked. --NickContact/Contribs 09:59, 14 March 2013 (UTC)

I'm afraid that even a claim by a third party on Facebook that such behavior had occurred would not be a verifiable reliable source to satisfy WP:BLP, given the undue negative connotation that goes along with this kind of claim in a biography of a living person. However, you're welcome to take your source to the article's talk page and see if consensus can be reached on possible inclusion in a way that would not violate WP:BLP, but I doubt it; Wikipedia takes the BLP policy very seriously. --NickContact/Contribs 03:07, 26 March 2013 (UTC)

Hello and thank you for contacting me. By reviewing Wikipedia's external links guideline, you can see that external links in articles should be kept to a minimum with links that specifically relate to the discussion and/or research of the topic at hand. Wikipedia is not a collection of links to content that are just related to the article at hand. While I appreciate that your YouTube video depicts the ceremony of an arranged marriage, it still does not conform with guidelines for inclusion, because it is not an encyclopedic discussion of the topic of arranged marriage. I'm sure you can appreciate the fact that many personal videos exist of people's marriages, arranged or otherwise, but that does not mean that they should be included in Wikipedia. --NickContact/Contribs 20:18, 26 March 2013 (UTC)

For reverting vandalism to my talk page. I just noticed it so this is belated as hell. But I appreciate what you do!! Cheers 4twenty42o (talk) 02:13, 1 April 2013 (UTC)

Five minutes started creating new article, and you immediately marked unfinished content as junk.

Does such actions encourage to use Wikipedia? To add value to it? I start writing something, and immediately said that I do junk. Thank you! EugenyBrychkov (talk) 21:17, 4 April 2013 (UTC)

I apologize if you feel like you've been discouraged from creating content. Wikipedia is happy to accept content that meets our policies. Using the main article space for test pages is not in accordance with these policies. I would like to suggest that you use a "sandbox" in your own userspace (possibly: User:EugenyBrychkov/sandbox) to create test content. Once you have built up the content and it meets Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, it can be moved into the article space. That is the easiest way to write content and be allowed ample time to bring it to an acceptable level without being subject to the scrutiny of content in the article space in the meantime. --NickContact/Contribs 21:24, 4 April 2013 (UTC)
Not accepted. Test page was residing in my own user page space. If it is named "test" does not give you a right to remove it immediately. — Preceding unsigned comment added by EugenyBrychkov (talkcontribs) 21:38, 4 April 2013‎
Your "user space" means any pages that have "User:EugenyBrychkov" before it, such as your main user page and any subpages, which begin with "User:EugenyBrychkov/...". Your page was not in the user space; it was in the main article space. Please see WP:USERSPACE and CSD G2. --NickContact/Contribs 21:43, 4 April 2013 (UTC)
Eugeny, the page that was deleted was Eugenys test page in the main article space; I assume based on your comments above that you started it there by accident. Anyway, I've undeleted it and moved it to: User:EugenyBrychkov/Eugenys test page. --Floquenbeam (talk) 21:46, 4 April 2013 (UTC)

NickW557, you should've moved it to userspace, not deleted it; it's pretty obvious.

Whack!

You've been whacked with a wet trout.

Don't take this too seriously. Someone just wants to let you know that you did something silly.

88.104.28.176 (talk) 21:53, 4 April 2013 (UTC)

Lol...ouch. For the record, I didn't delete it, I tagged it for speedy, and an admin deleted it, so perhaps your trout slapping should be spread around! But seriously, since I don't have the ability to move a page without leaving a redirect, I generally prefer to leave it up to the admin who responds to the CSD tag if they feel like deletion or moving it to user space would be more appropriate, because my moving it would leave a redirect that still needs to be deleted anyway. --NickContact/Contribs 21:59, 4 April 2013 (UTC)

Pro tip: move it, then tag the redir for speedy. (next time) 88.104.28.176 (talk) 22:13, 4 April 2013 (UTC)

@All - thank you for explanations. There were historically two test pages in my userspace, today I came and found out they both were deleted (!) with links being invalid. So I recreated both links, and, as we found out later, put them to the Wiki root. Well, I confirm I made a mistake, but system response was inadequate. File Upload

I notice that you have marked my uploaded file for deletion. I am in the process of securing the permission e-mail already, so this is a bit premature. I have meanwhile tried to insert the 'pernmission pending' flag, but am not sure if the format of this is correct to stop the automatic deletion. Please could you resolve this until I am able to provide the necessary evidence?

Thanks 2011jps (talk) 15:41, 19 April 2013 (UTC)

Hello! I tweaked the {{OTRS pending}} template you placed on the page so that it would show the actual template. This will alert any administrators to check to see if an email has been sent to OTRS before deleting the image. The tag I placed on the image gives you 7 days to send the necessary evidence to the OTRS email address before it will be considered for deletion, so that should give you the time you need. --NickContact/Contribs 15:45, 19 April 2013 (UTC)

Louis Vuitton Logo.

Hey man, do you know how much time I have spent to finish that masterpiece. Even LVMH people would thanked me if they see the LV logo placed nicely in its Wikipedia page. If you want to blame for misuse of logo like the case of counterfeit items, go place your complaint to Copyright law of the United States or anywhere. Even before I started this logo design, the counterfeit items have been invading the USA flea market and street. You can't blame on this, there are thousand or in fact millions of sites that use LV logo and they didn't get lawsuit or at least complaint from a moron. The logo was intended to portray the luxurious, prestigious LV lines, that's why I've used gradient tool to make it looks shiny and sophisticated. The original logo was more like common LV logo, the one I design is like corporate LV logo. If you don't believe me then you can go to any LV store and look at their store signage. I even put the copyright infringement law on the details about the logo. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Theduffmate88 (talkcontribs) 16:22, 19 April 2013 (UTC)

Page patrol

Thank you NickW557 for patrolling the page José Serrano (Ecuadorian politician), which I created about one month ago. You also managed to assess that page for several WikiProjects by importance and class. Thanks once more. I'm new to Wikipedia, so unfortunately I don't know yet how everything works. I hope you are able to help me out here. Two other pages which I have created have also been logged as patrolled by other users but still have their 'new unreviewed article' template. Is there a difference between logging a new page as patrolled and reviewing it? I was hoping you would be so kind to take a look at my two pages and maybe even assess them for the correct WikiProjects. My instinct tells me that rating the pages which I created is wrong, so I'm guessing a policy exists against that practice. The pages in question are Erika Sylva Charvet and Freddy Ehlers. Thanks in advance,

Crispulop (talk) 21:00, 25 April 2013 (UTC)

Hi Crispulop! I have taken the unreviewed tag off the articles and tagged their talk pages for the Wikiprojects and BLP. I only rated their class, and left their importance unrated. I really don't think I know enough about the subject matter to make a decision about the importance, however someone from the Wikiprojects will probably come along eventually and rate them. There really isn't a policy against rating articles that you created yourself (see WP:BOLD). If you're reasonably sure about it, feel free and go ahead and do it; if its wrong, someone can always fix it later!
On a related note, your articles are really quite good! Reading them makes me think they were created by someone with a lot more Wikipedia experience. Thank you for your good work! --NickContact/Contribs 14:20, 26 April 2013 (UTC)
Thank you for helping me out there and giving me the advice to be bold. I managed to assess some of the importance levels by looking at the Ecuador/Politics Wikiprojects guidelines on that. I'm glad you like the quality of my articles. I've been looking up stuff on Wikipedia for years, so I know more or less what an article should look like. And if not, I try to use the guidelines or look at a featured article.

Re Managerial statistics for Neal Ardley - AFC Wimbledon

Hello, and thank you for your message and apologies for the delay. I assume you worked out 38 by adding the total number of league matches (35) to the FA Cup games (3). However, you omitted to take into account the fact that Neal Ardley was also manager when AFC Wimbledon took part in the London Senior Cup, which constituted a win and a loss and the Surrey Senior Cup, in which AFC Wimbledon competed four times, winning three times and losing once. All of the other managerial figures have included the stats for these competitions as the asterix clearly notes the figures incorporate all league games and all fixtures in competitive competitions, including those pre-season for silverware. The London Senior Cup and Surrey Senior Cup are both classed as silverware for this purpose. 38 + 6 = 44 so contrary to your prior comment on 23 May "Neal has only managed 38 games in all comps. No idea where the 44 figure came from. Somebody can't count" I think you'll find the figures do add up. With kind regards (Jodie25 talk) 16:30, 10 June 2013 (UTC)

We need your help testing latest huggle

Hello,

I am sending you this message because you listed yourself on meta:Huggle/Members as a beta tester. We desperately need attention of testers, because since we resolved all release blockers, we are ready to release first official version of huggle 3! Before that happens, it would be nice if you could test it so that we can make sure there are no issues with it. You can download it packaged for your operating system (see Wikipedia:Huggle/Huggle3_Beta) or you can of course build it yourself, see https://github.com/huggle/huggle3-qt-lx for that. Don't forget to use always latest version, there is no auto-update message for beta versions!

Should you find any issue, please report it to wikimedia bugzilla, that is a central place for huggle bugs, where we look at them. That is i mportant, if you find a bug and won't report it, we can't fix it. Thank you for your work on this, if you have any questions, please send me a message on my talk page, I won't be looking for responses here. Thanks, Petrb (talk) 15:15, 10 April 2014 (UTC)
