The article Lidotel Hotel Boutique has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

There is no indication that this company meets the notability guideline at WP:CORP.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on I'm a G, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as at articles for deletion. Under the specified criteria, where an article has substantially identical content to that of an article deleted after debate, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. SummerPhD (talk) 22:39, 10 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free rationale for File:Drank in my cup by kirko bangz.jpeg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Drank in my cup by kirko bangz.jpeg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. File source problem with File:Lobo Texas.jpeg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Lobo Texas.jpeg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. A tag has been placed on I'm from Texas requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a musical recording which does not indicate why its subject is important or significant, and where the artist's article has never existed, has been deleted or is eligible for deletion itself. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for music.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. When articles about songs and albums are created, we are required to meet specific criteria for inclusion in the encyclopedia. All articles on albums, singles or other recordings must meet the basic criteria at the notability guidelines, with significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject. Unreleased material (or material available exclusively through download) is only notable if it has significant independent coverage in reliable sources. Most songs do not meet the notability guidelines warranting an independent article and should redirect to another relevant article, such as one for the songwriter, a prominent album, or for the artist who prominently performed the song. Songs that have been ranked on national or significant music charts, have won significant awards or honors, or have been independently released as a separate recording by several notable artists, bands or groups may be notable. Notability aside, a separate article on a song is only appropriate when there is enough verifiable material to warrant a reasonably detailed article; articles unlikely ever to grow beyond stubs should be redirected or merged to articles about an artist or album. Due to a lack of notability and failure to meet the guidelines for inclusion, the I'm from Texas article has been redirected to the Trae article. Outside of redirecting the article, our only options are merging to the article for the album (if it exists), or deletion and possible salting. Accordingly, please do not restore the article content without the basic information required. For more information, please review: WP:NSONGS and WP:CRYSTAL. If you have questions, please feel free to contact me. Best regards, Cindy(talk to me) 19:47, 18 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Songs

[edit]

"Most songs are not notable..."

However, you seem to be swimming against the tide on this. Unless you can support the notability of a song, please do not create an article for it. If an article for a song, such as "Young & Gettin' It", is redirected because the song is not notable, please do not recreate it. If an article, such as "I'm from Texas", is redirected after an AfD discussion, do NOT recreate it.

Please discuss this at Talk:Young & Gettin' It for the moment. Thanks. - SummerPhD (talk) 15:44, 7 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The article Procrastination Kills 4 has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Fails WP:MUSIC. Most mixtapes are not notable. Nothing to indicate this is one of the rare exceptions.

Thanks for uploading File:Keep It Trill.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. Your recent editing history at Auckland Airport shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you get reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. Proposed deletion of List of diplomatic missions in Houston

[edit]

The article List of diplomatic missions in Houston has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

WP:LISTCRUFT and WP:NOTDIRECTORY

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

Non-free rationale for File:Long-live-the-pimp-cover.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Long-live-the-pimp-cover.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. A tag has been placed on File:Freeway map of with downtown.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the file appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted content borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. A tag has been placed on Avenida Plaza, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Avenida Plaza is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Avenida Plaza until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give EaDo, Houston a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username Mcampany and it's nice to meet you :-)

I wanted to let you know that I’ve proposed an article that you started, Shut Up and Listen!, for deletion because it meets one of the relevant criterion. The particular issue can be located in the notice, that is now-visible at the top of the article.

If you wish to prevent the deletion:

  1. Edit the page
  2. Remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. Click Publish Changes button.

But, please remember to explain why you think the article should be kept on the article's talk page and improve the page to address the raised issues. Otherwise, it may be deleted later by other means.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Mcampany}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!

The article about the SW Houston Chinatown needs to address all definitions of it

[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia! I am WhisperToMe. Nice to meet you!

I need to discuss Chinatown, Houston. As per Wikipedia:RS articles need to be based off of published sources, so to "define" where Chinatown is and its boundaries, we need to rely on other organizations' work. What happens in many of these cases is that there is no single definition of Chinatown. Different organizations will have different defintions. The article should address all of them.

The Greater Houston Convention and Visitors Bureau (GHCVB) did include the Vietnamese portion west of Beltway 8 as part of its definition of Chinatown (I do not know if the organization has changed its definition), so the article will need to address that. In regards to Little Saigon, Houston you will need to find which organizations define it, how, and why. A "misconception" is only such if a published secondary source calls it one. If there's disagreement over what Chinatown is or what Little Saigon is, the way to address it is to say "A says W, B says Y" and so on.

Also in regards to the city council document you cited, do you mind citing a page number? Its a bit lengthy of a document and it will help people locate the cited information.

If you have any further questions, please ping me by typing {{ping|WhisperToMe}}

Thanks, WhisperToMe (talk) 23:15, 10 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Re: this edit I stand by what is written above. If you prefer I will start a Wikipedia:Request for comment in which other editors will give their two cents. I must reiterate please do not revert without an explanation in your revert and local knowledge is not admissible unless it is reflected in a written published source. I would like a response as soon as possible. Thanks WhisperToMe (talk) 03:25, 14 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Indeed it's true the GHCVB is not a city agency of Houston (as per the about page). However the Houston Chronicle did use GHCVB's definition by proxy in their article. Wikipedia:Verifiability states: "3. Base articles largely on reliable secondary sources." with newspaper articles generally being counted as secondary sources.
"Because of this, I have reverted your edit back to the adjusting of the official Chinatown boundaries, since wikipedia guidelines call for official boundaries." - May I see those guidelines? Which official boundaries? Where do you get this information? If you are citing a large document, please include the page numbers.
To my knowledge there is no single "official" definition of Chinatown and that multiple agencies and groups have their own definition. The Third Ward, Houston has sourced info from a book cheerfully explaining that there are multiple agencies/groups with their own definitions of the Third Ward, and so there is no single definition. I have cited that book in the article.
BTW the Southwest Management District (which is a management district created by the Texas Legislature, not a part of the city government) has finite boundaries and cannot define "Chinatown" beyond its boundaries (as the places on the other side of Beltway 8 are in the International District, Houston)
Thanks,
WhisperToMe (talk) 03:38, 14 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Just another message - It seems like your position is/was that the Southwest Management District serves as the "official" boundaries of Chinatown. Above I had stated the problem with using the SMD only, as it cannot define anything outside of its boundaries as being "Chinatown" (as that would be out of its scope). Also other entities like the city of Houston or a TIRZ/nonprofit could use their own boundaries. WhisperToMe (talk) 19:09, 14 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the response! I am aware the SW Vietnamese area has Vietnamese signage from its management district (International District, Houston).
The Third Ward, Houston definitions do not only come from government bodies, but also journalists and an individual quoted by Down in Houston: Bayou City Blues. The common thing behind those definitions is that they were chosen by published secondary sources (Down in Houston: Bayou City Blues, the Houston Press, and the Houston Chronicle), as per Wikipedia's ethos to mostly base articles on published independent (of the subject) secondary sources. The fact the Chronicle chose the GHCVB definition, despite the fact it isn't a government agency, means that the article should discuss/include it.
I still don't think that the SW Management District should be the sole/only official arbiter of what "Chinatown" is in the article. I think it would be best to open a Request for Comment (RFC). It's a complicated situation but I think opening the discussion to others would be more fruitful.

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Westheimer Road, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Hipster (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on The Friedkin Group requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person, a group of people, an individual animal, an organization (band, club, company, etc.), web content, or an organized event that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Auberge Resorts Collection moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Auberge Resorts Collection, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Marriott Marquis Houston. This means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be although other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Points to note:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. --John B123 (talk) 23:17, 17 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give a page a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Travis Scott: Look Mom I Can Fly. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases for registered users, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). Thank you. Hi. You may notbe aware that when you restore deleted content, like you did here, you are responsible for it as if you wrote it yourself. Since it was removed for being a press release used as a citation, and is therefore both promotional and a primary source, I urge you to reconsider, and if not removing it altogether, at least find a better source. ☆ Bri (talk) 00:46, 9 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The file File:Friedkinlogo.png has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Uploaded for The Friedkin Group (Afd). No other use.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. --Minorax«¦talk¦» 14:30, 6 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hi ParaguaneroSwag! I noticed that you have reverted to restore your preferred version of List of coffeehouse chains several times. The impulse to undo an edit you disagree with is understandable, but I wanted to make sure you're aware that the edit warring policy disallows repeated reversions even if they are justifiable.

All editors are expected to discuss content disputes on article talk pages to try to reach consensus. If you are unable to agree at Talk:List of coffeehouse chains, please use one of the dispute resolution options to seek input from others. Using this approach instead of reverting can help you avoid getting drawn into an edit war. Thank you. Tarl N. (discuss) 03:03, 16 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:ParaguaneroSwag. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=ParaguaneroSwag|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. signed, Rosguill talk 20:52, 10 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I have 0 ties with Corebridge Financial. AIG split into two with the larger portion becoming Corebridge. Excuse me if I'm wrong, but I would suppose that one of the nation's largest financial institutions (regardless of how new it is) should have its own article. I'd recommend reading through WP:NCORP, which sets out the guidelines for notability for companies. Our standards are rather high for companies, and are based on the availability of secondary source coverage that contains significant analysis of the company (importantly: not announcements of funding rounds or reprints of press releases). signed, Rosguill talk 16:14, 12 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Notice

The file File:Johnny Dang (logo).png has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

WP:DECORATIVE non-free use in Johnny Dang which fails WP:NFCC#8 and WP:NFC#CS. The primary subject of the article where the file is being used is Dang himself and not the company he founded; so, the purpose of the file's use given in its rationale isn't really accurate. Moreover, there's no sourced critical commentary of the logo itself anywhere in the article which might otherwise help justify its non-free use.

-- Marchjuly (talk) 06:38, 21 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
