Hey Deepu!

A new user, Arun, has added a lot of new information to the Malayali article. I'm starting to get rather busy at work, so the scope of my activity on Wikipedia is being limited to performing minor editing, and maintaining a vigil for POV and other violations. Arun told me that the article needs copyediting and formatting since he is not that familiar with Wikipedia. I was wondering if you could perhaps take a look at the article? I also wanted to get other Malayalee editors involved in this page. Arun had a valid point; the Kannadiga article is pretty well done, and the Malayalee article was seriously lacking in information. So he took the initiative and added more stuff to it. --vi5in[talk] 15:20, 30 April 2007 (UTC)

A new wiki just for India

www.indianotebook.org/wiki

Hey Thunderboltz, I noticed that you were interested in editing India articles. I just wanted to tell you about a new wiki that a friend and I have created called India Notebook, the url of which is above. A description of our site is as follows (copy-pasted from the main page): About Us: The ultimate aim of India Notebook is to document each and every little thing in India. From shops to restaurants to your local paanwalla in your hometown, India Notebook will have an entry on it so that anytime you find yourself wanting to go to, say, a new restaurant in your town, just log on, search for restaurants in your town and browse away. All we need is a little help from you. Just add all your favourite hangouts, restaurants etc etc and slowly but surely, we will have documented everything there is to see and do in India for anyone to reference, anywhere and anytime. Soon a visitor to Bombay will be able to simply come here and check out the hottest clubs, best eateries and coolest Museums without buying a guidebook. Anything and everything you want to know about a city will be right here, written by the locals.

Come and contribute. Review your favourite pubs/restaurants/shops/paanwallas/hangouts/icecream places etc etc etc so that people get up-to-date information about any place in india from the locals. And also tell any friends of yours who edit wikipedia to come help out here. We're also thinking of integrating Google maps into the site, so that you can view the location of any place described on the site. Don't hesitate to contact me at chaita@gmail.com

Best,

Chaitanya Netkalappa

my change to the Univ. of California page was not nonsense. Check the chart on the very same page. Only 6 campuses are in the top 50. in your rush to prevent vandalism, you reverted the page back to giving incorrect information. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 67.174.45.205 (talk) 19:48, 13 May 2007 (UTC).

Edits such as this are indeed vandalism. And it was that which I reverted.--thunderboltz(TALK) 07:04, 15 May 2007 (UTC)

Please do not remove dispute tags without addressing the concern

I have reinserted the tags you removed from Kerala as I believe there are many serious problems with the article. The talk page also has some other points raised earlier and still unaddressed. These tags are there for a purpose. People shouldn't be led up the garden path with deceptive information. Tags will also attract other editors to try to rectify the errors. Please don't remove them until the concerns are addressed. If there are any specific policies that prevent users from inserting such tags in FAs, ( I am curious to know, if there are any) please do something to remove Kerala from FA status as calling this article as one of the best articles would be a shame on wikipedia. Walky-talky 08:58, 15 May 2007 (UTC)

Well, you've already tagged certain sentences as vague and several others for cite checking. Therefore, I see no point in displaying redundant and ugly banners in addition to that. It serves no real purpose. And before you go ahead and revert me again, let me remind you of a Wikipedia policy.--thunderboltz(TALK) 12:20, 15 May 2007 (UTC)

He looks like a sockpuppet of a troll. He knows what prod means and what templates are despite only making ten edits so far. Do you suspect anyone? Has there been someone who has pushed his POV on these articles recently? Regards, GizzaChat © 09:00, 15 May 2007 (UTC)

Malayalee

Hello Thunderboltz,

I have added more contents to page malayalee. Please verify it and inform me of any mistakes if i have done so.I also have given malayalee page the class=start. Please undo that if it is wrong.

Also i have a question. All articles in wikipedia should meet neutrality. But the page Kannadiga is not maintaining it.Take a look at this paragraph where the author hotly criticizes and comments on Tamil politicians...

"Above all these Kannadigas had to fight for officially speaking their mother tongue in their motherland-Gokak agitation. Also for political mileage politicians of Tamil Nadu have tried to bring all the south Indian languages under one roof called Dravidian which denotes only Tamil making it the ancient language out of which other languages arose! This gained Tamil the classical language status. There is no question that all South Indians share same culture and values but saying Tamil as origin to Kannada is a conspiracy as there are records which are old enough to prove Kannada as old as Tamil. The important thing to note is in the entire literature of Kannada there is no mention of word Dravida! Also a noteworthy point here is calling Dravidians as Shudras mentioned in Manu smrithi. All central government establishments enforce the supremacy of newly developed Hindi while disrespecting local culture . The globalised service oriented MNC's give more weightage to English! All these conspiracy theories have in fact stopped the growth and development of Kannada as it should have taken place and its counted as one of the languages soon to be extinct. If at all Kannada gets classical tag it will be one more political act rather than respecting and exploring roots.Still there are few heartening developments like Nudi ,Baraha etc."

Please take a note on it and pls reply...

By the way, I've put Vanitha (which, needless to say, you created) on my watchlist, since I actually subscribe to it. (Though I'm not sure why we didn't get the Early May edition...) I never knew it had a Hindi version! How did you come to know? Do you think we should cite that statement? (There seems to be plenty of evidence for it, but it might seem dubious.) --Kuaichik 23:08, 20 May 2007 (UTC)

Vanitha

Well, I have my own share of "stubby articles." But most of them are in French, German, or Spanish. All of the articles I created in French are stubs :-D

OK, so we have something in the article...now what? I'm trying to figure out what other information I could add, especially without adding original research in the article. The type of articles generally included (e.g. celebrity interviews, trivia/gossip, horoscopes, etc.)? Trends (e.g. more articles on dieting, arteriosclerosis, etc. than before 2005)? (Vague) descriptions of novels published in Vanitha? Or what? --Kuaichik 01:25, 23 May 2007 (UTC)

You views on a Debate

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Nair#Nairs_are_community_not_a_caste

I had put up a suggestion to replace the "Caste" part of the Nair article with "Community" as the same was Neutral and will pave way for better understanding of the Community which long existed without any Caste System. Details of supporting documents and proof was provided in the links of Nair- A Community.

Seeking your view on the issue.Malabarspices 17:28, 26 June 2007 (UTC)

Mani Madhava Chakyar

My article Mani Madhava Chakyar has been translated to lot of other languages. In Malayalam wiki (ml.wikipedia.org) one of the picture i had contributed is been selected as feautured one and pic of the day. I would like to know then, whether it is automatically becomes a Featured Picture in en.wiki?(http://ml.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E0%B4%9A%E0%B4%BF%E0%B4%A4%E0%B5%8D%E0%B4%B0%E0%B4%82:Mani_Madhava_Chakyar-Sringara1.jpg)

Again that picture was slightly modified in ml.wiki, now if i want to use that in my english article , how can i transport it from malayalam wiki to english? What is the procedure of using my GFDL image in other languages wikis? is it like i have to upload the photo again and write the details? Please help me Sreekanthv 07:14, 12 July 2007 (UTC)

Terrorism

Dear Mr Thunderboltz,

I am making a passionate appeal to you as a victim of terrorism in Wiki. I have been contributing articles and making edits in Wiki for the past one year with an impassionate and unbiased approach. I have been spending my valuable time to make edits in topics which are related to my language, its history and Telugu people. Please see the talk pages of Telugu script, Telugu language, Brahmic family, Chalukya dynasty and Origin of Vijayanagar empire, You would understand how my inputs were reverted, threatened, ignored, slandered, belittled by a group of Users (User:Dineshkannambadi, User:Gnanapiti, User:Sarvagnya etc). They have been playing havoc with my inputs. My appeals to some administrators fell on deaf ears.

Some important common traits with these users are:

1. They depend upon a particular source to push their views in certain articles. The same source becomes unreliable if I use it in my edits.

2. They write articles copiously citing two or three sources which are websites glorifying their viewpoints and versions of history. If I cite a website article it becomes unprofessional source.

3. Theories are discussed without making citations in certain articles (E.g Chalukya dynasty). If I make an input with two citations, it becomes a minority view and of undue importance. It is deleted ruthlessly.

4. To prevent action such as blocking, these Users take turns in making reverts. For instance, my edit in Chalukya dynasty was reverted by three Users in a short period of one hour.

5. These Users use very uncivil, impolite, uncouth and crude language against others. They engage in the very worst form of human behaviour.

Please spend some time to analyze these articles and respective discussion pages and do something.Kumarrao 05:38, 18 July 2007 (UTC)

Billava and Koti and Chennayya article- Vandalism and threatening with wikipedia template

Hi i have been contributing to Billava and Koti and Chennayya article for sometime. And i only created the article Koti and Chennayya. I have added following content

"The Tulu term Garadi is derived from Kannada word Garodi which means gymnasium."

from the link

http://www.billawabalagadubai.com/J1010/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=34&Itemid=32

But this has been changed by the user:User:Gnanapiti tactically. He has reverted this edits by multiple times. So as warning i have added a edit summary "Stop vandalism. Dont remove referenced content. if you conflicting opinion. please discuss it" to both the articles when i made last edit.

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Billava&action=history

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Koti_and_Chennayya&action=history

He again reverted this edit with following edit summary "What's wrong with you? I'm removing anything. I'm just fiuxing the reference format for god's sake. This is the way you reference something. Not by giving external link. Do you even check the diff?"

But he tactically removed following content. "The Tulu term Garadi is derived from..."

He has removed many refernced content from Billava article also. Then i explicitly provided the extenral ref.

Now he has been kept threatening template in talk page -- a personal attack template.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Dayaanjali

have i done some personal attack by providing the edit summary as mentioned earlier? Also please help me to maintain the article with authenticated content as the user is removing t5he content without any discussion....please keep an eye on both the artciles

I am making request to as i am not aware who are admins...
