Welcome to WikiProject Macau, a project dedicated to creating, organizing and improving all Macau-related articles. It is hoped that through this project a co-ordinated effort will develop in raising the quality of Macau articles. Ways to contribute can be found below and on the talk page. Our scope may overlap with WikiProject China in some areas. We intend to work in a spirit of cooperation with the many Wikipedians who have contributed to articles on “Macau” subjects.
This project aims to address the production, improvement and coordination of articles related to Macau — its geography, history, culture, languages, politics, etc., all seen in their broadest senses. It intends to expand Wikipedia's resources on the subject in a fair and accurate manner and to act as a locus where controversies can be aired and hopefully resolved.
To join WikiProject Macau, edit this section and add the Wikitext#{{subst:me}} with your areas of interest to the bottom of the following list of members. Members should also place member identification on their user page.
Refine and maintain the Outline of Macau, a key guide on Wikipedia to Macau as a subject. It serves as a table of contents, summary, and topic outline of coverage on the political entity Macau and is the most useful tool on Wikipedia for exploring and understanding fundamental material about Macau (and how it fits together) on Wikipedia. Its purpose is an important one: it simply enables readers to see at a glance how the subject of Macau is broken down, what the component topics are, and how they relate to each other – that is, how information on Macau is organized (here, and in the world-at-large). It is a site map and outline of knowledge that demystifies the subject known as "Macau". Because of its central role in the presentation of Wikipedia's coverage of this subject, it is very important to develop and maintain it to the highest level of quality: to help readers improve their conceptual awareness and understanding of Macau as well as find their way around this subject on Wikipedia. For examples of other pages in this set, see List of basic France topics, List of basic Thailand topics, List of basic Japan topics, List of basic Taiwan topics, and List of basic Iceland topics, all of which are currently completed to a higher level of quality than this page. In other words, it's getting its ass kicked: the List of basic Macau topics is incomplete, needs your editing contributions, and is especially in need of maps and pictures!
Refine and maintain Category:Macau and its subcategories:
An article rating and assessment scheme has been implemented for Macau-related articles, which is monitored and maintained by WikiProject Macau. In this scheme, all Macau-related articles may be assigned a particular rating which indicates an assessment of their class. The primary purpose of this rating and assessment scheme is to provide editors with a sub-categorised survey of the current status of Macau-related articles, which can then be used to prioritise the overall workload and highlight articles needing improvements at various stages.
Please feel free to announce any new Macau-related articles here (newer articles at the top). Before doing so, please check that they comply with the following guidelines:
Where possible, please create articles that are at least "Start Class". Instead of creating a new stub article (52% of total articles now. See statistics below), why not consider expanding an existing one?
Do not create a listing page if more than half of the articles that will be in the list have not been written yet.
Sticking to these guidelines will help to minimise the unnecessary listing of articles for deletion by other editors. If you need help or would like to seek the collaboration of experienced editors on an article, do post a message at our talk page.
Note: Please do not archive the entries too soon, preferably on a quarterly basis or when the list get too lengthy. This is meant for easy maintenance because some new articles may take a few weeks to be discovered.
Any new articles that have an interesting or unusual fact, please consider nominating the article to appear on Wikipedia Main Page by posting a nomination at Did you know (DYK) suggestions. However, there is a 5 day time frame for DYK nominations. Also consider adding it to the Macau-related topics list here. To protect the hard efforts of the contributors, please add these articles to your watchlist to help fight against vandalism.
