Jujiro Wada
[edit]That deleted picture of Wada that you said was ca. 1900 is actually dated to the winter of 1909-1910. The town is Seward, and there are copies of the photo in the McIlhenny archives. Joseph Svinth 08:48, 14 March 2007 (UTC)
- You asked if I was sure that was Wada. I'd put money on it, but I can't guarantee it. There were other Japanese in Seward (and Alaska) at the time, and sometimes Wada traveled with them. That isn't C.K. Sunada, who was one of Wada's Japanese buddies in those days. To know for sure, probably we'd have to look in all the Seward and Seattle papers of the day, and unfortunately, those back issues aren't online yet. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Joseph Svinth (talk • contribs) 00:56, 15 March 2007 (UTC).
- Okay, after going through the history of the scanned image, I understand. You thought the man in the uploaded picture was Wada, and I was thinking that you meant the Japanese fellow off to the left, whose face you can't see, who was cropped out of the uploaded image. The odds are better than 1-in-5 that the Japanese fellow that was cropped out of the image is Wada. Why? Well, Wada had four Japanese with him in Seward on that trip, so it's almost certainly one of them. As for this gentleman, I'd guess Jack Baird, who was Wada's business partner. Joseph Svinth 09:57, 16 March 2007 (UTC)
- PS. After reviewing my notes and clippings, I've also changed the date to ca. 1912-1913, as that's when Wada was ramrodding the expedition out of Seward for McIlhenny. But, it's definitely 1909-1914. See the upgraded article for details. Joseph Svinth 10:00, 16 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit]I saw your request on WP:AMARQ. The best course of action is to warn the user (check out WP:UTM), then file a report at WP:AIV if they keep vandalising. Unfortunatly, the IP's are AOL, and they change IP ever few minutes/page loads. If you require any more help, or you don't need any more help, post a responce under your request at WP:AMARQ. -Royalguard11(Talk·Desk) 22:48, 15 September 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for adding the LIFE magazine information to the Lew Walt article. Do you have access to the article? In particular, could you expand on the focus of the article? — ERcheck (talk) 23:09, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
- Great add to the article! Thanks. I found references to the article, but did not find any online version, so it is great to know what was said. Is the 1945 Quantico photo public domain? If so, are you planning to scan it and add it? — ERcheck (talk) 23:31, 6 October 2006 (UTC)
- Lew Walt was promoted from Major to LtCol in 1942; promoted from LtCol to Col in 1951, so in the c. 1945 photo Walt would be a LtCol. — ERcheck (talk) 23:18, 9 October 2006 (UTC)
Great addition — Walter Stauffer McIlhenny!
Would you add a little more information about history with the McIlhenny company? I'd like to nominate this for WP:DYK, but I think it needs a little more company info. The DYK time-window is very short — 5 days from creation. I'll revisit it later today.

License tagging for Image:Anceletbook1.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Anceletbook1.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:

[edit]No problem. While I have a strong dislike for links to blogs, I have yet to find that story anywhere else. Still looking for a better source. As far as protecting an article, that is usually a last resort, a page has to be hit so often that editors can't keep up with it (many times per day or even hour). This looks like we can we stay on top of it. I'll ask that particular editor to explain the constant removal; if they have no reason we should start warning them. Cheers. Adminstrator question
[edit]My apologies for taking some time to reply to your inquiry about being a Wikipedia administrator.
- "Do you think that I am qualified to serve as an administrator?"
- "...based on my record?"
- "I've been active on Wikipedia since May".
My responses also contain some advice:
- I think that have potential to make an excellent administrator. However,...
- your record at this point would probably be viewed as insufficient to become an administrator at this time. While there are no official prerequisites, the Wikipedia community and precedent have shown some basic criteria that you might strive to meet should you want to become an admin.
- You have sufficient time on Wikipedia, but your number of edits and range of contributions to Wikipedia are limited. In general, it seems that RFA's look for a minimum of 3000 edits in Main space and a range of other contributions that show an editor's familiarity with most aspects of Wikipedia (such as participation in the deletion process, vandal patrol, interaction with other editors, etc.)

Fair use rationale for Image:BellaBoudreaux1.jpg
[edit]This file may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading Image:BellaBoudreaux1.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. When you use a generic fair use tag such as {{fair use}} or {{fair use in|article name}}, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Orphaned fair use image (Image:LewWaltLifeMag(26May1967)SMALL.JPG)
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:LewWaltLifeMag(26May1967)SMALL.JPG. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. Unspecified source for Image:Amrusani.JPG
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Amrusani.JPG. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. [edit]This file may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading Image:0394818237.01._SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Qst 16:18, 6 July 2007 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use Image:Bobby_charlesca1955.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Bobby_charlesca1955.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 7 days after this notification, per our Fair Use policy. Picture problem
[edit]Hi,
could you please have a look at the discussion on my Commons userpage here. There's a problem with the license of the pictures you sent me a while ago. Thanks, --Carstor 20:30, 26 August 2007 (UTC)
- Hi again ... it's not possible to completely forbid any commercial use of the pictures, as every material on wikipedia has to at least fulfill the GFDL-terms. But as someone suggested on my discussion page at commons, it is possible to use a combined license (CC-NC and GFDL) which makes it very impractical to use these pictures in a commercial way. As far as I understand, one would have to provide a full copy of the GFDL-text as well as a reference to wikipedia and your name with the picture to use it. Maybe that's a solution you can live with? (BTW: You can also answer here, I'll check for new answers every now and then) --Carstor 16:23, 27 August 2007 (UTC)
- "one would have to provide a full copy of the GFDL-text" -this may change in future Versions of the GFDL, so there will be no warenty ;) Sincerely, --C-M ?! 11:37, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
- I'm not familiar about intended new versions of the GFDL, but I think it wouldn't be a problem as the picture is licensed under the old version and I don't think there will be an automatical 'upgrade' for every GFDL-licensed content. In other words: As long as the author doesn't upgrade the license to the new version, the old version would still be valid. Or am I wrong here? --Carstor 12:31, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
- " Each version of the License is given a distinguishing version number. If the Document specifies that a particular numbered version of this License "or any later version" applies to it, you have the option of following the terms and conditions either of that specified version or of any later version that has been published (not as a draft) by the Free Software Foundation. If the Document does not specify a version number of this License, you may choose any version ever published (not as a draft) by the Free Software Foundation." --C-M ?! 00:09, 1 September 2007 (UTC)

- Carstor, the combined license sounds good. Can you tell me how to do this, or can you do it for me?
- Also, what if I also replaced the current images with slightly smaller, lower-resolution versions of the same images, which would look no different on a computer screen, but would not reproduce well in a book or magazine?
- "one would have to provide a full copy of the GFDL-text" -this may change in future Versions of the GFDL, so there will be no warenty ;) Sincerely, --C-M ?! 11:37, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
Sincerely, --Skb8721 16:26, 28 August 2007 (UTC)
I changed the licenses to {{Cc-by-nc-sa-2.0-dual}} on the pictures in question. Uploading smaller versions of the pictures wouldn't help as the old, larger pictures would still be available in the file history. There might be a chance to ask an administrator on commons to delete the current versions to upload a completely new file. But as I'm not so familiar with commons I can't help you any further on this. Maybe ask someone there. All the best, --Carstor 19:13, 28 August 2007 (UTC)
- Hi Skb8721, the pictures weren't deleted automatically. As far as I see it, one of the commons admins wasn't aware that this combination of the two licences is valid. I could either ask some other admin to undelete the files now, or you could use the chance of the moment and upload smaller versions of your pictures. What do you think, we should do? --Carstor 21:53, 31 August 2007 (UTC)
- Hello, I guess just using GFDL as the licence would have the same effect. As far as I understand the dual licence with cc-by-nc-sa just gave an alternative way to use the pictures for non commercial users. So for commercial uses the terms would be still the same if you just choose GFDL as a licencse and not GFDL and the Creative Commons licence. --Carstor 06:53, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
- Hi, it's me again ... sometimes I just don't understand what the people at commons are doing. I asked them to watch this discussion and wait for a result, but instead an administrator restored the old versions of the pictures. Do you still want to upload smaller pictures? If so, I would ask one of the german commons-adminstrators if it's possible to delete older versions of the pictures after uploading new versions. --Carstor 13:04, 2 September 2007 (UTC)
- Hello, I am the Commons adminstrator who undeleted your photos. The adminstrator who deleted them thought that it was a non-commercial only licence and therefore deleted them. I believe Cc-by-nc-sa-2.0-dual is a valid licence and would like you to consider keeping the original photos under that licence. Hope this clears things up. --Digon3 talk 14:25, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Jreb.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Jreb.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use.
Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Pekaje 11:20, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
- Good one. I was concerned that this might be a WP:NFCC#1 violation, but the rationale seems solid. For future reference, you should remember to include a link to the article you're writing the rationale for, because WP:NFCC#10c requires it. Thank you. --Pekaje 18:43, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free media (Image:Destri.jpg)
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Destri.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

You are now a Reviewer
[edit]Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.
Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. Fair use rationale for File:CABbook.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:CABbook.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 09:17, 19 August 2010 (UTC)

File permission problem with File:RodBernard.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:RodBernard.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.
If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-enwikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-enwikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Wikipedia Campus Ambassadors wanted at LSU
[edit]Hi! I'm leaving you this message because you are listed as a Wikipedian in Louisiana. The Wikipedia Ambassador Program is currently looking for Campus Ambassadors to help with Wikipedia assignments at Louisiana State University, which will be participating in the Public Policy Initiative for the Spring 2011 semester. The role of Campus Ambassadors will be to provide face-to-face training and support for students on Wikipedia-related skills (how to edit articles, how to add references, etc.). This includes doing in-class presentations, running workshops and labs, possibly holding office hours, and in general providing in-person mentorship for students.
Prior Wikipedia skills are not required for the role, as training will be provided for all Campus Ambassadors (although, of course, being an experienced editor is a plus).
If you live near Baton Rouge and you are interested in being a Wikipedia Campus Ambassador, or know someone else from the area who might be, please email me or leave a message on my talk page.--Sage Ross - Online Facilitator, Wikimedia Foundation (talk) 17:15, 6 December 2010 (UTC)

eTown
[edit]I've also wondered about that name. On their website (<www.etown.org>), they write about the award, stating, "that's what the 'e' in eTown is for," but that didn't really clear anything up, so I looked at their "About us>what is etown?" They are not too specific about the name, but they go to great lengths to explain their philosophy, which I won't try to repeat here. They DO use a lot of e-words: take a look and see if you can make sense of it, or if you prefer, their phone # is (303) 443-8696. I may try to call myself if I have the time on Monday.

Orphaned non-free image File:Taopooh.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Taopooh.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Replaceable fair use File:RodBernard.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:RodBernard.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that this media item is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails the first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media item could be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media item is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the file description page and edit it to add
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template. - On the file discussion page, write the reason why this media item is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. Svg image
[edit]It is in .svg format which I can't do otherwise I could fix. If it is just the fair use image at the English Wikipedia, File:Tabasco.svg you could have someone in your graphics department upload a newer image to that file page: "Upload new version of this file" under the file history section. That will replace it in the article. The old one can be deleted then. Is it in use in other language wikipedias as well? I should be able to upload to those once I have a copy of the newer .svg file.--Canoe1967 (talk) 01:05, 22 February 2013 (UTC)
- The file came from http://www.brandsoftheworld.com/logo/tabasco You may wish to contact them for an update fix as well.--Canoe1967 (talk) 01:16, 22 February 2013 (UTC)
- I bought a bottle, took a picture, cropped it to logo, and uploaded to commons. It shows in the article now. Feel free to overwrite the image page with a better one in .jpg format. Scalable Vector Graphics (.svg) files take a bit of work as they are created digitally from scratch usually. They also can't be uploaded to replace a .jpg file.--Canoe1967 (talk) 19:29, 22 February 2013 (UTC)
- OK, thank you very much for doing this! I appreciate it as does the company. --Skb8721 (talk) 18:39, 1 March 2013 (UTC)

- The file is in .svg format now. That is probably why you couldn't replace it before. Scalable Vector Graphics or .svg are tricky and complex to make and edit. You can upload a better one to english wikipedia and I can fix the fair use issues in the file. I have email turned on if you wish to click the email thingy on my main page. Special:EmailUser can be used as well. I can upload it and tag it correctly for you then. We did discuss the copyright at commons and since it was first published in the USA before 1923 with no major changes since then the copyright has expired and it is actually in the public domain. Your trademark to it is still protected and doesn't expire if it is renewed regularly, I think. No one can sell other condiments with a similar logo type thing. Trademark and copyright laws are different in this area. --Canoe1967 (talk) 18:30, 5 March 2013 (UTC)
- OK, thanks, I'll e-mail you the image. As for the logo being in the public domain, we have changed the logo since 1923, notably but not exclusively in 1927 and 1993. --Skb8721 (talk) 18:36, 5 March 2013 (UTC)

File source problem with File:Lewie G. Merritt.jpg
[edit]Thank you for uploading File:Lewie G. Merritt.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.
If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.
Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
ATTENTION: This is an automated, BOT-generated message. This bot DID NOT nominate your file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 03:00, 17 October 2016 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use File:Warrenstorm.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Warrenstorm.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the file description page and add the text
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}}
below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing<your reason>
with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable. - On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.
The file File:Mansonbookcover1.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Non-free cover art being used for decorative purposes in an article about the artist who created it. Typically, non-free use would be acceptable as the primary means of identification in a stand-alone article about the book itself per WP:NFC#cite_note-3, but a much stronger non-free justification is required for other articles and other uses. This particular cover art is not itself the subjuect of any sourced commentary within the article, so the context required by WP:NFCC#8 is lacking.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.
Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. -- Marchjuly (talk) 03:40, 6 May 2017 (UTC)
Replaceable fair use File:Rod Bernard and his guitar (ca. 1959).jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Rod Bernard and his guitar (ca. 1959).jpg.
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}}
below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing<your reason>
with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable. - On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.
If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. -- Marchjuly (talk) 05:21, 23 June 2017 (UTC)

2019 US Banknote Contest
[edit]US Banknote Contest | ||
---|---|---|
November-December 2019 | ||
There are an estimated 30,000 different varieties of United States banknotes, yet only a fraction of these are represented on Wikimedia Commons in the form of 2D scans. Additionally, Colonial America, the Confederate States, the Republic of Texas, multiple states and territories, communities, and private companies have issued banknotes that are in the public domain today but are absent from Commons. In the months of November and December, WikiProject Numismatics will be running a cross-wiki upload-a-thon, the 2019 US Banknote Contest. The goal of the contest is to increase the number of US banknote images available to content creators on all Wikimedia projects. Participants will claim points for uploading and importing 2D scans of US banknotes, and at the end of the contest all will receive awards. Whether you want to claim the Gold Wiki or you just want to have fun, all are invited to participate. If you do not want to receive invitations to future US Banknote Contests, follow the instructions here |

Invitation to discussion about removal of Modern history article
[edit]You are invited to join the discussion at Wikipedia talk:Vital articles/Level/2#What to do about Modern history merge. Essentially, Modern history has been merged into other articles, and it's throwing those of us over at WP:VA for a bit of a loop. It'd be helpful to have some historians like you weighing in, and to have more discussion overall about such a significant change. Sdkb (talk) 23:35, 22 November 2019 (UTC)
