Gidget

I don't think the page for gidget should have been redirected. The Taco Bell Chihuahua page is about the mascot for Taco Bell. The Gidget page was for an acting dog, information about the dog should not be on the page of the mascot. Consider undoing your actions? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Padsquad43 (talkcontribs) 01:53, 24 July 2009 (UTC)

hi

I want to move rapping to rap. is that cool? do we delete the hisory at rap? on a related note, I think almost all the content in the current version of rap (disambiguation) (bunch of acronyms) belongs at a place named RAP. can you help me navigate any deleting that needs to be done, as long as none of this is too controversial? BingoBob 23:21, 24 July 2009 (UTC)

gidget

alright, well if you checked, taco meat was the edit before yours, and was vandalism. there's not much to source. the dog was known for taco bell, and most of the information was from on the news articles. the sourcing on the page as it is isn't all that great neither. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Padsquad43 (talkcontribs) 10:03, 25 July 2009 (UTC)

Hello. I reverted your redirect on the Alexis Cohen article and made a comment on the talk page. She has been on two seasons of Idol, had an internet video go "viral", and had several tv appearances. If you still feel it deserves to be redirected after this alternate point of view, I'll respect your opinion and not revert again. v/r,--TParis00ap (talk) 15:09, 27 July 2009 (UTC)

Well I'm not sure of the circumstances surrounding the other AfD, but I just feel notability had been established by the tv appearances. However, I have spent some time googling the internet and cannot find any mention of those appearances. Also, it's obvious you follow Idol articles much more than I do and are more familar with musician notability more than I am so I secede the decision to you.--TParis00ap (talk) 15:27, 27 July 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for being an example of an excellent wikipedian. I'm new here, but your attitude definitely shows what it means to be an admin in this kind of community and I appreciate it. I've been in the hospital for the last two days for the arrival of my 2nd daughter and I havent been able to discuss in the AfD other than my original contribution, but I'm happy about the outcome. Since I made a fuss about saving it, I'm going to contribute to make it better, even though Idol isn't a strong subject for me. Thanks!--TParis00ap (talk) 23:53, 29 July 2009 (UTC)

AfD nomination of David Hernandez and others

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated articles are David Hernandez, Ramiele Malubay, Syesha Mercado, Brandon Rogers (singer), Chris Sligh, Gina Glocksen, Haley Scarnato, Chris Richardson. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to the relevant discussion pages: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/David Hernandez for David Hernandez, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Ramiele Malubay for Ramiele Malubay, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Syesha Mercado for Syesha Mercado, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Brandon Rogers (singer) (2nd nomination) for Brandon Rogers (singer), Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Chris Sligh (4th nomination) for Chris Sligh, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Gina Glocksen (2nd nomination) for Gina Glocksen, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Haley Scarnato (2nd nomination) for Haley Scarnato, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Chris Richardson for Chris Richardson. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:25, 29 July 2009 (UTC)

Aunt Entropy's Passion

Hi Woohoookitty!

Love your work, it's people like you that make Wikipedia such a great place!

Can you please visit the Race of Jesus talkpage and review my latest two entries and replies to Aunt Entropy?

He/she has in her own words said, "I don't care what admin approved it" ... the admin she refers to is you. He/she seems to have a sincere disregard for all the admins and rules of Wikipedia. His/her opinions and passion prevail on all.

I am going to report Aunt Entropy and suggest that her account be deleted or suspended due to this.

Thanks very much and I fully back your original evaluation of the entry I updated as a Jewish Historian.

HIAS entry

Hi. I noticed you reversed all the edits made to the HIAS entry ... I understand that part of the problem was the lack of citations (something I'm working on -- references were included, but not in-body citations from specific sources). I am affiliated with the organization, but I really tried to add content that was factual and encyclopedic in nature rather than promotional in any way and the content dealt with actual actions taken by HIAS as they related to historical events and its relationship with other organizations. The changes were made in the first place because (as commented by others in discussion), the information/history was really sparse. I definitely am happy to change specific sections that you found objectionable and not repost until there are in-copy citations ... sorry if I violated etiquette here, but I am new to editing pages here. Could you give me some guidance on this? Thanks! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Gvmcb (talkcontribs) 19:15, 1 September 2009 (UTC)

The our was definitely an oversight ... I understand that wikipedia is an encyclopedia and therefore not affiliated with any of the organizations for which it provides information. I also understand the conflict of interest issue, though I guess my question is how that same scope of historical content could be provided otherwise since most people aren't aware of the years in which HIAS did things, the historical events that prompted certain campaigns, the numbers of people relocated, etc. In the sense that it is an encyclopedia entry, isn't it better the greater the amount of information provided? If I cut content, rewrite, and add citations, would you mind reviewing to make sure it doesn't sound advertisement-ish? I could post the proposed changes to the discussion board and then just let you know that it's there ... Thanks ... —Preceding unsigned comment added by Gvmcb (talkcontribs) 15:14, 2 September 2009 (UTC)

Hip Hop Theater/Theatre

I have a problem and I'm hoping you could help me with it. This month I've been in the process of doing a complete overhaul of the hip hop dance page and I noticed that the theater section was becoming rather large. So in order to follow WP:SS, I created a new page titled hip hop theater. The problem is there is already a page but it's called hip hop theat"re". After I finished my page (theatER) I did a google search to see if it would come up and the other page (theatRE) was listed in the results. I honestly did not know that it existed. What do I do now? I was going to blank the theatRE page and put a redirect link there since the theatER page is longer and has references. Am I allowed to do this w/o offending someone and violating policy? Is there a formal process for this? Gbern3 (talk) 23:09, 27 August 2009 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on GERSIS SOFTWARE requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for organizations and companies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Buddy check

I was puzzled by this edit you made to Buddy check with the edit summary "WikiCleaner 0.97 - Repairing link to disambiguation page". Procedure is not a dab page and the link looks perfectly appropriate to me (although it could be linked at an earlier occurrence). I've reverted it, assuming you just made a mistake with the automated tools, but thought I'd better ask in case I'm missing something. --RexxS (talk) 12:26, 22 September 2009 (UTC)

Actually procedure was a disam page when I made that edit. I made it a non-disam page shortly after that. I actually made it a non-disam page for that reason. This is how the page looked when I made the edit to Buddy check. It was a disam page and yet it wasn't. That's why I made the change. Procedure and the specific applications of the term are 2 different things. So you had lots of pages correctly pointing to a disam page, which sort of defeats the purpose of a disam page. --User:Woohookitty Diamming fool! 13:31, 22 September 2009 (UTC)
(Hope you don't mind me copying your response over - I find it helps keep the thread together and I have your page watchlisted for now). Thanks for the quick response; I can see what you did now. Nice work clearing up the dab for procedure, and I think you're right to have the Procedure redirect point to Procedure (term). Now that I know there's nothing to worry about with the link, I'll go back to Buddy check and move the wikilink to the first occurrence (in the lead). Thanks again. --RexxS (talk) 13:44, 22 September 2009 (UTC)

Coming to you

Hey. So encountered you at some point in the past, and as you are the only administrator I know, I decided to come to you with this. Last night, I edited the page Talk:Transportation in Vancouver to say that even though Vancouver has several light rail lines, its transportation system is still dominated by the automobile. This morning, I was informed on my talk page (User:Zweifel) that two pages I created had been deleted by one User:ConcernedVancouverite. I suspect that this user's motivations had less to do with the merits of those two pages, and more to do with retribution.

I don't care about Fiat Building, which was a joke I heard from several people in New York at the time of Chrysler's sale to Fiat. But Schlong Island is a well attested slang term/joking insult for Long Island around the New York metro area. I think Wikipedia would be richer for having it remain on the site.

Finally, about myself -- I think I am one of the good guys on here. Most of my edits have been copy-edits, and occasionally I have removed unwarranted distracting "citation needed" tags (though to be sure, I was once criticized for my lack of patience with those).

Okay, get in touch if you can. Zweifel (talk) 08:02, 5 October 2009 (UTC)

FYI: I don't know anything about WikiCleaner, so I don't know how this happened, but you didn't fix any links... – jaksmata 13:08, 6 October 2009 (UTC)

The Bells go Down and Harry Tate‎

I lived in London in 1940 & from 1943 to the end of the war. "Air raids" is the terminology used at the time. In fact what was later called Civil Defense was at the time called ARP (Air Raid Precautions). The definition in wikionary (http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/Air_raid) is what I would prefer as a link, but I felt the page on Air Raid would be acceptable. The latter is not a true disambiguation page, but rather a stub with many links to associated articles. I think that we should avoid connecting the term "Strategic Bombing" with the Blitz as Hitler's stated reason for the start of the bombing of London was revenge for the bombing of Berlin by the RAF. Also the "Doodlebugs" (V-1) were actually the Vergeltungswaffe 1 (German for "vengeance weapon"). I would like to get full agreement with you before altering this link.

wikirage

Hi woohookitty

I got a bit of a shock googling an article i've been working on, and up comes this thing called Wikirage.com in google search - here's the link...http://www.wikirage.com/editor/Teinesavaii/

I haven't seen it before. I don't like it that my username comes up in google search like that - when wikipedia is about articles in the encyclopedia, rather than the users. I like the privacy of being able to contribute without my username flashing up all over the place in google search.

Is Wikirage part of wikipedia? Sorry for being a pest - I'm only a newbie. Teine Savaii (talk) 04:06, 13 October 2009 (UTC)

Proposed major reforms to decade articles

Hi - I noticed you have contributed recently to one or more of the decade articles (1990s, 1960s etc). I am proposing some major changes to these articles, as I have outlined in Talk:1990s/Archives/2012#Suggested_reform_of_decade_articles, and I would be interested in hearing your views in the first instance. Thanks. Kransky (talk) 09:05, 17 October 2009 (UTC)

Disambiguating textile mill

Something seems wrong about disambiguating textile mill to textile. Sure, it's removing a link to a disambiguation page, but it's actually making the link less specific, so that if an article is made at the former location it will need to be undone. Perhaps it would be best to redirect textile mill to textile? --NE2 11:04, 17 October 2009 (UTC)

Sorry for the revert

I feel guilty this early in the morning. I feel I should explain my revert. I'm sorry if this sounds 'basic'. Captains in science fiction are nearly always the equivalent of Captain (naval), except when they aren't. Captain (land) is less than half the rank of Captain (naval) (OF-2 compared to OF-5 per WP's own disam page).

However, the disam page would have something in the ballpark if it had Captain in science fiction or something equal to Captain (spacecraft). Since it doesn't, I can only think that the editor who originally added the wikilink to our List item either "had an article to refer the reader to at one time in WP history" or "had educational gaps" (sorry still too early, I'm thinking, "Why did this editor even try to add that in the first place?" We already have the John Sheridan article to describe those elements of the character).

Note that the rank of Captains of factual spacecraft are also closer to Captain (naval) than Captain (land), in the range of OF-5 (a field grade officer) rather than an OF-2 (a company grade officer).

When doing fiction articles, I find I can refer the reader to another article on fiction, or to a factual referent for the concept. A great example is Mars (woo hoo, no disam needed), Mars in fiction and List_of_locations_in_Babylon_5#Mars.

Being familiar with both the US military (being a veteran) and science fiction, I can say that after Captain (naval) the second closest match for Captain on the disambiguation page is Starfleet_ranks_and_insignia#Captain (since it does describe a science-fictional Captain's rank). And I hope you are aware of the significant trouble we would get in if we started mixing the two fictional universes of Star Trek and Babylon 5 here on Wikipedia.

Since Captain (naval) ain't quite doing it for me this morning in the context of the article section so linked and nothing "more equal" has shown itself, I decided to pull the link altogether. --Aladdin Sane (talk) 15:11, 17 October 2009 (UTC)

Error in WikiCleaner 0.98

Hi, since I don't understand bots, could you fix the programming in WikiCleaner? This A&E edit you made with it [4] is incorrect and made a redlink instead of a correct direct link. I fixed it to the correct direct, which is A&E Network, but could you fix the Bot itself? Thanks. Softlavender (talk) 08:32, 21 October 2009 (UTC)

Ah, well, learn something every day! (Both of us, perhaps?) Tis all still Greek to me -- you guys go through these articles with such speed I'm convinced it still must be superhuman. Anyway, thanks for disambiguating the terms I was too lazy to do so on myself. :) Softlavender (talk) 08:48, 21 October 2009 (UTC)
Not to wear out my welcome, but I don't understand what "Diamming" means on your siggy. Googling it didn't help. The editor in me wants to put an "s" in it, but it doesn't scan well that way. Please enlighten. Softlavender (talk) 09:04, 21 October 2009 (UTC)

Oops, I beg your pardon -- I was expecting a reply here -- thanks! - Fayenatic (talk) 09:04, 6 December 2009 (UTC)

I'm hoping you can help me. There is currently a discussion at the above article about moving it to United Kingdom general election, 2010. The apparent consensus in the current RM discussion and prior discussions appears to be that the page should be moved once it becomes impossible to hold it in 2009. Since most of the contrary opinion favours doing it now, a move on that date would be relatively uncontroversial. I've determined that the date in question is 7 December, and no one seems to dispute that. I was wondering whether you would be willing to have a look and effect the move on Monday if that is the consensus by that point. Thank you either way. -Rrius (talk) 06:18, 2 December 2009 (UTC)

Cool, thanks. I figured you've edited before and haven't been involved in any of the discussions, so would be neutral. -Rrius (talk) 06:31, 2 December 2009 (UTC)
The editor closing the debate misstated the consensus. The RM as proposed was that the move happen immediately. I and most of the others who voted "opposed" objected to moving it before the point of no return. Of the eight people who participated, two wanted the immediate move, four wanted to wait until the point of no return, one wanted to wait until January, and one thinks it should not be changed until the election is called. I include Galloglass as one of the four in favour of waiting until the point of no return because he said he wanted to follow what other election pages have done and "keep to the normal conventions", which is (as I understand it) to change the name at the point of no return. Even if he is excluded, five of the eight still support a move at the point of no return, which looks like consensus to me. -Rrius (talk) 16:25, 4 December 2009 (UTC)
I think an admin took the initiative after following a note someone left at the UK Politics project page. Thanks anyway, though. -Rrius (talk) 05:31, 8 December 2009 (UTC)

Dear Woohookitty, your edits have systematically moved the experimental term treatment, whose page has a link to the design of experiments article, to the medical-therapeutic page therapy.

These edits are generally inappropriate imho because experimental treatments need not be therapeutic. For example, repeated-measurements studies have been used for hundreds of years in agriculture.

One alternative would be to add a small paragraph in the treatment page that notes that therapies are commonly treatments.

My favored alternative would be to create a small article, "treatments in experiments", which could have a disambiguation link to therapies: If I would create such a page, would you please be willing to help redirect the references (for the pages you've relinked recently)?.

Thank you for your consideration. Sincerely, Kiefer.Wolfowitz (talk) 09:17, 23 December 2009 (UTC)
