Resource Request

Fixing references and common medical problems!
Warning: for legal reasons, we must note that the Resource Exchange cannot fix any medical problems. But it can fix references.

Finding a source

Tips for finding a source yourself

  • Send a request to the author(s) of research papers for a copy of their paper by email.
  • Check what sources are available to you in The Wikipedia Library – editors active for at least six months with over 500 edits, at least 10 of them in the last month, and with no active blocks have immediate access to the Wikipedia Library Bundle.
    • Available databases in the bundle include: Gale, EBSCO, JSTOR, Oxford and ProQuest
  • Consider applying for access to additional Wikipedia Library sources at The Wikipedia Library Card Platform.
    • Additional databases include: Newspapers.com, NewspaperARCHIVE.com, Project MUSE, Taylor & Francis and much more.
  • Search for periodical titles in the Wikipedia Library database index at The Wikipedia Library/A–Z.
  • Check on Google Books, or your local library or national library may be able to obtain it through an interlibrary loan or subscription.
  • Search Google Scholar for archived copies of journals in institutional repositories.
  • Check whether your alma mater's library offers electronic document delivery services for alumni, if applicable.
  • If the article is paywalled, a browser extension may bypass the paywall. Try Unpaywall for academic journals or Bypass Paywalls Clean (Firefox, Chrome) for news websites.

Note that sites like Library Genesis (LibGen) and Sci-Hub offer direct, free access to a large range of publications, but there are legal questions around their use and neither the Wikimedia Foundation nor the Wikipedia community endorses them.

Making a request

  • A request may be an open question or you may ask for a specific journal, article or work.
  • All kinds of sources are possible here: newspapers, magazine article, databases, encyclopedias, court decisions, laws, books, etc.
  • We cannot perform full book copy requests due to copyright. Please ask for specific pages that relate to the article(s) you need them for.
  • You may contact research helpers directly or make a request on this page.
  • To receive email without disclosing your email address publicly, configure your email in Special:Preferences.
  • Provide as much detail as possible: a full citation with author, title, publisher, and date or identifiers like DOI, ISBN, ISSN, PMID, OCLC, etc.
  • Indicate which Wikipedia articles are being improved.
  • Once a request has been fulfilled add the {{Resolved}} template.
  • Filled requests are archived.
  • Requests unfilled after three months will be archived.

Fulfilling a request

  • Anyone may offer advice and fulfill requests.
  • Indicate which part or parts of the request is being handled so others do not duplicate your work.
  • Notify (mention) the requester using {{ping|REQUESTER_USERNAME}}.
  • You can:
    • point to a pre-existing electronic document by giving its URL ( http://... )
    • share scans of pages or documents using a file-sharing service, provided it is legal
    • upload out of copyright works to Wikimedia Commons and/ or Wikisource (but be careful that this does not breach your own institution's policies)
    • email a link or plain text to a requester using the Special:EmailUser feature but for attachments, you need to ask them to mail you first so you can reply.

Copyright tips:

  • Respect copyrights and terms of services of any online services you use.
  • Share content in a limited manner that is targeted at as few individuals as possible to achieve a specific improvement on Wikipedia. All content is shared under a presumed non-commercial, educational, fair use purpose in order to conduct research about topics on Wikipedia and/or to improve Wikipedia content.
  • Share copies privately rather than with a publicly accessible link whenever possible. Copyrighted articles from print publications or copies obtained through online databases should not be uploaded for unrestricted distribution via open websites. Preferably, do not share login access codes for entire websites; rather, share only an individual copy of a resource.
  • Remember that you take on the individual risk when sharing content, and act in a way that is comfortable and safe for you. Individual editors are solely responsible for sharing copyrighted content and assume all legal risks.

Batman Returns - Cinefex, Empire, and Film Journal

  • Resner, Jeffrey (August 1992). "Three go mad in Gotham". Empire: 39–46.
  • Fennel, Tim (August 1992). "The Catsuit". Empire: 47–49.
  • Sloane, Judy (August 1995). "Daniel Waters on Writing". Film Review: 67–69.
  • Cotta Vaz, Mark (1992). "A Knight at the Zoo". Cinefex (51): 22–74.
  • Salisbury, Mark; Burton, Tim (2006). "Batman Returns". Burton on Burton. London: Faber and Faber. pp. 102–114. ISBN 0-571-22926-3.

For Batman Returns. I can find the text of the Empire reference online on fan sites but I can't cite page numbers that way so having the actual pages would be handy. The very generic "Film Review" publication is just not giving me any luck at all getting results.

Hebrew language resource

From looking at WorldCat, it looks like this may be a difficult request to fulfill, as it shows no libraries in the US that may have it. This are the details of the book:

  • Jacob Barnai, Shabtaut: Hebetim Hevratiim (Sabbateanism: Social Perspectives) [Hebrew], Jerusalem, Zalman Shazar Center, 2000.

OCLC 1284559037 / OCLC 255159652 / OCLC 890212639

If it is somehow available anywhere through the specialists here, I would appreciate having the full title page (front and back, with the publication details), the table of contents, and the first two chapters scanned and sent to me. The request relates to the Henry Oldenburg, Peter Serrarius, and Abraham Pereyra WP entries. Thank you, warshy (¥¥) 21:14, 30 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

German-language Catalogue of Romanian folktales by Adolf Schullerus

  • Schullerus, Adolf. Verzeichnis der rumänischen Märchen und Märchenvarianten. Folklore Fellows Communications, 1928. 99 pp.

For Romanian folklore and related articles about Romanian fairy tales.

The work is a preliminary catalogue of Romanian folktales according to the then recent revision of the international Aarne-Thompson-Uther Index (known at the time - 1928 - as AaTh). From this book, I'm requesting the section about tale type 407, "The Girl as Flower" (for The Bay-Tree Maiden); types 425-449, section about the Tierbräutigam (for Trandafiru and The Enchanted Pig), and type 707, "The Three Golden Children" (for The Boys with the Golden Stars and A String of Pearls Twined with Golden Flowers).

Adolf Schullerus [ro]'s book was translated into Romanian in 1966, and, according to some digging up, has not been updated since then, which means the original German-language version (1928) seems to be the most complete catalogue of Romanian tales.

Computer Trade Weekly

Computer Trade Weekly was a British weekly trade newspaper that covered computers and video games, spanning from 1984 to 1998. Although it was a respectable source at the time, it is notoriously difficult to find archives of on the Internet. Out of all the hundreds of issues they had ever released, I managed to find and download exactly one, although granted I might have been able to uncover a second issue had I decided to grind the search engines of Google and the Internet Archive.

For Amiga 600, I am looking for an article about the CeBIT 1992 show that mentions the Amiga 600 as one of the products being released there. This newspaper was reportedly the outlet that broke the Amiga 600 story. There is very little I know about the article. I do not know what issue the article appeared in, let alone the page numbers. Based on the issue I downloaded, it might have been #378. All I know is that it was reportedly published on March 16, 1992. I am betting that the only way I could obtain a copy of the article is from someone who has a physical copy of the issue, so if you have one, please send it. Thanks, FreeMediaKid$ 06:17, 26 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, I searched the internet for more details about the newspaper, and searching "CTW" on portal.issn.org, I found out its ISSN: 1355-6142. I hope this helps you as it will help me. FreeMediaKid$ 03:48, 2 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Eddie891, thank you for giving me a good direction for further research. But I must admit the link leads to a completely different newspaper. I am looking for the New York Word. This one though is the Evening World. Of course both newspapers were published in New York, and eventually they merged in 1931.--TheDiaboloBoy (talk) 01:54, 14 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
My university has microform of the paper you're looking for. If you have a wikipedia article in mind that you would use the article to improve, or really any reason it would help I'd be happy to dig through the reel, but it's a lot of work if this is just on a whim. @Eddie891, no, it is okay! Thank you for your generous efforts. You have done more than expected! I am not sure I can somehow repay you somehow. Locus magazine back issues

Locus magazine, issues 409, 421, 432, 434, and 435, from the mid-1990s. Looking for reviews of The Farseer Trilogy, which are listed in each of these. Have not been digitized as far as I'm aware; posting in the hope that someone has hard copies they would be willing to photograph. Each review should be a page or two at most. Looking for all five, but any would be appreciated.

Hi. I need issues of official gazette of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Government for articles about Inner Mongolia. Canadian TV ratings data (specifically 1987-1992)

Sorry if this seems like an odd request because I'm not looking for one specific work/journal. I was directed here by someone else. I'm in a so far eighteen-month long process of improving the coverage of the Degrassi teen drama franchise, specifically to do with the 80s/90s versions of the franchise, which aired on CBC. I'm specifically looking for any Canadian ratings data between 1987 and 1992 if any exists to cite the same way pages about American shows cite Nielsen ratings. Various newspapers of the time claim the show averaged over a million followers weekly, and I'm looking for exact figures to add for each episode to support this instead of going off estimates. The Battle of Britain 2

A slight challenge here on The Battle of Britain 2, in that the publisher of the game posted reviews on their website, and listed the name of the publication but not the date or other information. So what I am asking for here, is if anyone is able to locate originals of these reviews, can you just please provide the citation for me so that I can reasonably include these reviews in the article?

The reviews in question are, as posted on archive.org:

Thanks, BOZ (talk) 18:39, 12 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@BOZ: I found a fourth review on archive.org, in magazine Computer Gaming World. [4]. Will keep looking for them, though. KHR FolkMyth (talk) 19:02, 12 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! That's the one good one that I already had though, but I appreciate it. :) BOZ (talk) 19:03, 12 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
According to this issue, the game (also known as "Battle for Britain II") was released in Dec 91, which may give a window of time to look for its contemporary reviews. KHR FolkMyth (talk) 19:29, 12 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@BOZ:. Found the lost Macworld issue: Jan 1993 KHR FolkMyth (talk) 19:38, 12 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Awesome, thanks! That's one down. :) BOZ (talk) 19:42, 12 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@BOZ: Found the date on the Chicago newspaper: July 26, 1992. Page needs a subscription, though: [5] KHR FolkMyth (talk) 19:53, 12 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • van Molle, Paul (1972). "The Belgian Parliament, 1894-1972". Antwerp. {{cite journal}}: Cite journal requires |journal= (help)

For Jean Leclercq (politician). The subject was allegedly a Belgian MP (elected in the 1968 Belgian general election), but I am unable to find a source online that proves this. There is an offline source cited on his nl.wiki article that would show likely he was an MP. The source is The Belgian Parliament, 1894-1972 by Paul van Molle, and while I cannot find a GBooks page, there is this brief description.

Worms game reviews from some UK and US magazines

Hi guys, I'm looking for the Worms game reviews from the magazines listed above (the list will be updated if I find info about other reviews that I need but can't find online). I'm working on the article about Worms in another language section of Wikipedia, and I have reasons to believe that these articles will help me with my research. These particular magazines are nowhere to be found online and not even for sale, and in my country there's no way to request anything from American or British libraries. Hoping you could help me.
