    "Matched betting services" The growth of matched betting has led to the formation of matched betting services - usually subscription-based businesses established to make the process easier with step-by-step instructions and bespoke software, such as oddsmatching. Profit Accumulator is the UK's most popular matched betting service, [7] reaching 20,000 subscribers in 2016.

    This is a spam comment that is irrelevant about matched betting. The reference appears to be a piad article.

    Formatted the above message + Wiki-link. A discussion about how to handle this problematic section is currently ongoing at Talk:Matched_betting. I have tweaked the section a bit, which is hopefully an acceptable first step, but any additional suggestions or better sources would be welcome. GermanJoe (talk) 17:12, 25 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

    This user left a suspicious advertisement for an email-based English Language certificates business (onlineieltsonline@outlook.com) on Talk:Arab International Women's Forum. -Alanna the Brave (talk) 14:07, 24 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

    Done. @Alanna the Brave:. Thanks for pointing this out - I have removed this message from the talkpage. You can remove obvious prohibited content yourself on sight - WP:TPG contains more detailed advice about this aspect. Editing other editors' comments is generally discouraged, but there are some cases where it is considered necessary and beneficial for the project. This particular ad looks like a one-time isolated incident, so simply removing the message should be sufficient for now (blocks and filters are usually only added for repeated patterns of spam). Reverted again. Spammy. –Dirk Beetstra T C 02:02, 30 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
    @Wavehunter: plus Added to User:XLinkBot/RevertList. --Dirk Beetstra T C 02:09, 30 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

    While recently tracking an external link spammer's edits, one of the sites they were adding to multiple articles being www.hajjumrahpackages.us, I found one of the instances in this article which I have left there for now. The reason of my hesitation is that this is an important event involving travel. There are several external links there which appear to be to blogs or touring companies (examples: dawntravels.com, ilinktours.com and this very link I aforementioned). I was tempted to remove most of them, but my patrolling experience being limited, I would be grateful if someone else could help evaluate if those links are appropriate in this case, or which should be removed. Thank you, —PaleoNeonate - 14:15, 2 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

    I think that I reverted all of it that was left and found no other instances recently using insource search, editing seems to have stopped for now, I'm not sure if any action is necessary, but here goes, in case. The exception is the aforementioned link to hajjumrahpackages.us in the Hajj article. Thanks —PaleoNeonate - 14:15, 2 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

    @PaleoNeonate: plus Added to User:XLinkBot/RevertList - the two similar usernames suggest to me that they will make more accounts, lets warn them early on. --Dirk Beetstra T C 16:59, 2 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
    Thank you, —PaleoNeonate - 17:15, 2 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
    @Beetstra:: I noticed that the bot's list also had the same error as was here (.comm rather than .com for peacequarters.com). I probably originally mistyped the domain tld. Thanks, —PaleoNeonate - 02:10, 3 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
    @PaleoNeonate: oi .. that is why the first one was empty. I did not notice it. The bot picks up what is in the LinkSummary-template, whatever typo's there are (and so does my black/revertlist script). The new report has now been saved, and it adds more editors to our collection. I'll repair the revertlisting item. --Dirk Beetstra T C 03:59, 3 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

    Are those links acceptable? BSI is a national standards body in the UK, but there is something fishy in putting links directly to sales pages. An unusually large fraction are external links in article body, which violates WP:EXTERNAL. Rentier (talk) 15:30, 3 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

    @Rentier: I do not see any obvious spammers .. but I agree that this does not look right. It should link to a general page explaining the standard. I found one or two references where the standard is correctly linked, but I don't think that that is relevant to the statements on the reference. --Dirk Beetstra T C 16:08, 3 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

    I noticed this link is being added as a reference to several football-related articles (for instance, Supercopa de España, GOL TV, 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup) by different newly-registered editors. Seems to be a streaming website. What is the best way to approach this? Normally, when I see an editor adding spam links, I revert and report to AIV, but since the links are being added by different editors in this case, I don't know if there is an easier way to revert. @FlyingAce: This is plain spamming
    users
    Even warning or blocking doesn't make sense here, nothing much you can do but a) report it here, or b) report it at the spam blacklist (or maybe c) start an SPI and hope they share a further unused IP). In either way my response is the same:
    plus Added to MediaWiki:Spam-blacklist. --Dirk Beetstra T C 20:30, 3 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
    @Beetstra: Thank you! I'll keep this in mind for future cases. :) –FlyingAce✈hello 20:43, 3 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
    Found it necessary to blank this report and request delisting on my talkpage. Editor also tried to spam this link again. --Dirk Beetstra T C 06:36, 4 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
