Welcome to WikiProject Formula One. We aim to create, expand, update and standardize Wikipedia articles related to Formula One.
Introduction
Anyone who would like to take part in WikiProject Formula One is welcome to do so. The project aims primarily to create and standardize complete articles on all people, teams, races, and other aspects of Formula One.
If you are interested, please feel free to help, and add your name to the list below. If you have any questions, please inquire on the project's talk page.

Goals
- To divide the subject of Formula One into appropriate subtopics
- To gather complete and accurate information in all F1-related articles

Types of articles

The sport's primary article is the "top" article of a series which includes five other related topics. The Wikipedians who created these articles intended to divide the topic of Formula One into specific subtopics, and chose the five topics they thought would best accomplish this goal. The appropriateness of the subtopics is open to discussion.
All six articles should include the template {{Formula One}} at the top.
- Formula One is the main article for the sport, including general information; summaries of the articles on history, cars, and racing; general sections on drivers/constructors, grands prix, and circuits; a section noting the important people in F1's history; a 2004 season section; and a section on the Future of F1.
- History of Formula One - the sport's history, in detail. This should include major regulation changes, major technical advances, and the most important drivers and constructors of each era.
- Formula One cars - a detailed description of the modern F1 car. Information about historical F1 cars belongs in the History article.
- Formula One racing - the schedule and procedure of an F1 grand prix weekend; information about racing strategy.
- Formula One regulations - both current and historical information on the FIA's technical and sporting regulations.
- Future of Formula One - a look at proposed changes to the sport and new regulations for future seasons.
Lists
There are thirteen Formula One-related lists. These should be historically complete, and include the template {{Formula One}}. Each, when updated, should also be marked "Accurate as of [date]" in order to assist future editors.

Race reports
A long-term goal of this project is to create articles containing a summary of every Formula One race since the sport's inception in 1950.
Thanks to a bot written by Bill Cook, articles containing full classifications of every past race now exist, but most need summaries and many need standardization.
The standard structure may be found at Wikipedia:WikiProject Formula One/Example race report. The wikitext is annotated with comments and may be copied to assist with the creation of a new report.
The infobox templates to use for race report articles is {{Infobox Grand Prix race report}}, which caters for both Championship and non-Championship races. A cut and paste pro forma is available at the template doc page.
Seasons
All season summary articles contain, as a minimum:
- an overview of the season
- a Drivers' Championship table
- a Constructors' Championship table (from 1958 onwards)
Articles for more recent season contain additional information. As a general rule, the current season article is in the "ideal" format; future season summary articles should use the same format.
Grands Prix
There should be a complete article on every race which has been a part of the Formula One calendar since the series started in 1950 (see List of Formula One Grands Prix). Each article should contain:

- Update the "Last race" details in the info box
- Update the current season article, i.e. 2008 Formula One season:
- Update the tables in the "Results and standings" section
- Update the articles for all participating drivers:
- Update the infobox (update "Races" and "Latest race" for all drivers, plus other fields as appropriate)
- Update the "Career summary" table
- Update the "Complete Formula One results" table
- Update the "Records" section (if there is one), if required. Specifically:
- Update Kimi Räikkönen#Formula One records and achievements if Räikkönen set fastest lap
- Update the articles for all participating teams:
- Update the infobox (update "Races competed" and "Latest race" for all teams, plus other fields as appropriate)
- Update the "Complete Formula One results" table (which is in a separate article for McLaren, Williams and Ferrari)
- Update the "Records" section (if there is one), if required. Specifically:
- Update Toyota F1#Statistics, if Toyota scored points
- Update Scuderia Ferrari#Records, if Ferrari scored points, pole or fastest lap
- Update the articles for all participating cars:

After a season
- Add the name and statistics of the drivers champions to the list of Formula One World Drivers' Champions and constructors champions to the list of Formula One World Constructors' Champions.
- As drivers for the following season are decided, add new drivers' names to the List of Formula One drivers and to their teams' articles. Add the names of new teams to the List of Formula One constructors.
- When the FIA releases the next season's calendar, update the List of Formula One Grands Prix.
- Update Template:Formula One teams and Template:Formula One races as information becomes available.

- Category:Formula One - All F1-related articles, excepting drivers, teams/constructors, grands prix, circuits, race reports, and season reviews.
- Category:Formula One drivers - articles about any driver who has started in a Formula One race
- Category:Formula One entrants - articles about entities which have entered Formula One races (commonly referred to as "teams", but also includes individuals)
- Category:Formula One constructors - articles about constructors of chassis. Does not include teams which did not construct their own chassis, e.g. BMS Scuderia Italia
- Category:Formula One engine manufacturers - articles about companies which have maufactured engines for F1 teams, only if different from the chassis constructor.
- Category:Formula One circuits - articles about circuits, such as Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari
