Angela Anaconda is a Canadian cutout animation television series that aired on the channels Teletoon and ABC Family. It centers on the adventures of a eight-year-old girl named Angela who lives in the fictional town of Tapwater Springs, has wacky brothers, weird friends, and hates a snobbish faux-French girl named Nanette Manoir.
Angela Anaconda began as a short skit on the Nickelodeon show Kablam!. Angela Anaconda later became a series and was a hit on Fox Family Channel from 1999 to 2002. In 2001, when Disney bought the Fox Family Channel and changed the network's name to ABC Family, Angela was moved and canceled after two months. The show aired reruns on Nickelodeon in 2004, but was removed about a month later.
The show was created by Joanna Ferrone and Sue Rose, who also created the cartoon character Fido Dido. Sue Rose created Disney's Pepper Ann. The show was produced by DHX Media and C.O.R.E. Digital Pictures. It also airs on Teletoon in Canada. It premiered in the UK on Cartoon Network, and currently airs there on PopGirl, it also airs on POP TV in Slovenia and ABC2 in Australia. Sue Rose also voices the title character.
The show features a very distinct art style, reminiscent of Terry Gilliam's animation from Monty Python's Flying Circus, in which all the characters are made out of cutouts of black and white photographs.
The show now airs on Starz Kids & Family, but there are currently no plans for a DVD release.
Episodes
Characters
Angela Anaconda
Angela Anaconda is a very confident, tomboyish girl, with freckles all over her face, and auburn hair. She dislikes her snobby Faux-French classmate Nanette Manoir, often calling her "Nanette Manure" and "Ninny-Poo" among other insults. As a result, Nanette tries, usually successfully, to get Angela in trouble. Angela often imagines situations where calamities befall Nanette while she gets the upper hand. Aside from Nanette, Angela also dislikes Mrs. Brinks, as she likes Nanette and punishes Angela for things she never did, such as clapping erasers. In conversations, Angela tends to use overly complex syntactic constructions, such as "Thank you for that useless information that is totally useless." She is also known to frequently use the phrase "on account of." In the episode "Ancient Greeks" she is given a number of parts ranging from Medusa to Prometheus to Atlas due to Nanette's displeasure in Angela's acting performance, casting Angela as Atlas ironically resulted in the papier-mache globe rolling across the stage and spoiling the play since Angela couldn't manage its heavy weight. In the episode "Angela Who" she becomes the first Anaconda to squeeze both her legs behind her head, and due to jibes from Mark and Derek, begins to doubt that she is an Anaconda and goes on a crusade to find out once and for all who her real family is. Her last name is a pun on the snake anaconda.
Johnny Abatti
Johnny is a sweet but dim child of Italian-American descent. His parents are never seen in the show, and he appears to be under the care of his grandmother and uncle Nicky, who often pressurizes Johnny into manhood (particularly in the episode "Johnny Learns to Swing"). Regarded as being good looking, Johnny takes pride in his pompadour hairstyle, and is the object of a few crushes. Nanette tries to flirt with him and refers to him as "John" even though nobody else does. Johnny is privileged enough to be invited to exclusive Manoir events, usually bringing Gina, Angela and Gordy along, often against their will. Despite this preferential treatment, Johnny remains totally clueless about Nanette’s affections, even though he doesn't seem to dislike her like Angela, Gordy and Gina do (even in the episode "Puppy Love" he even cries at the fact that Nanette's poodle was missing, though in the episode "Touched By an Angel-a" he is seen scowling at Nanette after Nanette insulted Gina about her weight and in the episode "Snow Mercy" after it is revealed that Nanette was the one who ruined Gina's first ever hot dog he turns against her and showers her, January and Karlene with snowballs). Although he won’t admit it, Johnny may have strong feelings for Angela, as he becomes resentful of any rival for her affections. In one episode he sends Angela flowers but forgets to sign the card, and the credit for his gift goes to Angela's imaginary boyfriend Bob. Johnny likes to pick his nose and shoot spit balls (as he proudly reveals in the episode "Goodbye Mrs Brinks").
Gina Lash
Angela's best friend, Gina Lash, is the smartest child in her grade. Possessing encyclopedic knowledge and an impressive vocabulary (and a voracious appetite), Gina routinely dispenses reason and insight to her friends—although she will participate in whatever crazy scheme her friends are cooking up. Gina shares many interests with her friends, but her thirst for knowledge has led her to pursue a variety of other hobbies; she owns a microscope and other scientific paraphernalia. Gina is best known for her appetite, which rivals that of any adult. She is always hungry and can even fall prey to Nanette Manoir if she is bribed with her gourmet chef's cooking. Gina’s favorite foods include Abatti's Pizza, cinnamon swirls and Tastee Swirl ice cream. Gina worships the mascot for Tastee Swirl, a man with a whipped ice cream head who dispenses ice creams from his truck, and Tiny Dottie Cake. Gina, who is overweight, does not let jibes about her appearance affect her but remains happy and confident (though in the episode "Touched by an Angel-a" she angrily calls Nanette "Ninny-poo" after Nanette maliciously said, "I could eat and eat and eat and not gain an ounce, unlike some people around here," and then glaring at Gina). Gina lives with her mother, who is single (until she begins dating a rather buff co-worker and later, Gordy's father Coach Rhinehart.) Her father is never mentioned on the show implying that her family is divorced. Gina also owns a pet turtle called Sheldon who eats a lot of carrots (who only appeared in the episode "Turtle Confessions").
Gordy Rhinehart
Gordy is a sensitive and effeminate boy with asthma who prefers pressing flowers, housework and writing poetry to "dangerous" activities like tag or hide and seek, and is best known for his many allergies. Gordy, who wears large, square spectacles, is skinny and physically weak, the complete opposite of his burly ex-Army dad Coach Rhinehart. Despite being so unalike, their father/son relationship is very strong and they show genuine love and concern for one another. The Coach enjoys the strawberry souffles, hand-embroidered towels and pillow cases Gordy makes in his free time. Gordy loves animals and is the proud owner of an immaculately groomed dog called Fabio. He is an expert on pet care and worries about the welfare of any animal entrusted to Angela (as seen in the episode "Turtle Confessions" when Angela was looking after Gina's pet turtle Sheldon). Gordy spent almost an entire episode ("Gordy in a Plastic Bubble") wearing rubber gloves and a face mask, refusing to leave his house, after looking at an eyelash under a microscope. In spite of Gordy's outward appearance and mannerisms, he is deeply in love with Gina Lash, but his love is never returned (perhaps because Gina appears to be embarrassed at this).
Nanette Manoir
The richest kid in school and the main antagonist of the series, Nanette Manoir is the teacher's pet despite being an average student. She speaks with a snobbish American valley girl accent, but occasionally laces it with the cadence of a French one when she speaks. Her hair is golden blonde and styled into long Victorian-style ringlets in emulation of her mother's look (though it is strongly suggested in the episode "Gordy in a Plastic Bubble" that she dyed her hair blonde after Gina Lash looks at a strand of her hair under a microscope and sees that the roots of her hair are actually brunette like her father's hair). She is manipulative and has wrapped Mrs Brinks around her finger with constant praise and gifts, although Mrs Brinks has had moments of anger with Nanette, such as the ending of the episode "Return to Sender" after learning the truth about being a pawn, giving her detention when Angela read an insult she wrote about Mrs Brinks and in the episode "Earhart's Heirloom" where she accidentally called Mrs Brinks' birthday nothing. The perfect little angel to most adults (including her indulging parents Howell and Bunny), Nanette is devious, cunning, arrogant, snobbish and mean, exercising the worst of her traits on Angela and her friends. This likely is the fault of her doting parents (who are snobs themselves), who fail to see how rotten their daughter really acts at school and never punish her for things she does wrong. However, in "The Substitute", she, January, and Karlene, unlike their classmates, are shown to not have a very good relationship with Ms. Klump (Geri), as the woman constantly forgets Nanette's name, dislikes Nanette's snobbery, and likes Angela. She is very proud of her looks, constantly bouncing her golden, curled hair, and she considers herself to be very beautiful, which may be true as her mom is very lovely. Her interests are a posh variety of activities such as baton twirling, ballet, painting, gymnastics and ice skating. Nanette uses her family's wealth and high status as a way of asserting her superiority over her classmates, especially and specifically Angela and her friends. Because of her French first and last name, Nanette arrogantly believes that she is full-blooded French - a belief shared only by her mother Bunny. She sprinkles her conversation with misapplied French phrases, explaining their meaning incorrectly; for example, she believes "pomme de terre" is French for "apple polisher", "liaison" is French for "lesson", "crème brûlée" is French for "prove it", and "Crêpe Suzette" is French for "overpriced pancake"; however, she uses applied French words and phrases in other instances. For example, in "Angela Who", she orders a large pizza "maintenant" (which is French for "now" or "right now"). In "The Substitute", she uses a Japanese phrase, strongly implying that she may just be a girl that loves languages, or in other episodes, strongly hinted to be an aspiring Francophile. She also erroneously believes that Marie Antoinette was a natural born French queen (she did rule France but she was actually from Austria). Nanette's mother speaks with a Southern American accent while her father has an accent similar to that of John F. Kennedy, actually making her American (though perhaps her ancestors were immigrants to the United States from France). Nanette has a huge wardrobe full of designer originals, but nearly always wears a French girls' state school school uniform to school, complete with a beret (In the episode "You're So Vain" she wears a rather flamboyant pink frock with a deep pink beret; in the episode "Goodbye Mrs Brinks" she dresses as a stereotypical punk and even nicknames herself as "Bruiser", and she wears pink lacy pajamas when she goes to sleep at night). She owns a poodle named Ooh La La, who is male, and her dof had a relationship with Angela's dog King in the episode "Puppy Love". She has a personal butler named Alfredo, who provides for her (and has been her caregiver and guardian ever since she was a baby as seen in "Touched by an Angel-a") but doesn't care much about her family. She also won the heart of a young Arabian prince in the episode "Who's Sari Now", the force of the wind blowing her hair (making her look a lot like Medusa) ruins it to the point that the prince is disgusted by her. Despite being nasty, Nanette does hold many talents, such as spending the entire episode "Don't Overdue It" balancing a book on her head (and staining it with hair gel) and writing a "three act Greek tragedy" in the episode "Ancient Greeks" and casting all of her classmates in "the lesser roles" such as Jimmy Jamal as Zeus, Johnny Abatti as an eagle, Gina Lash as Dianeses, Gordy Rhinehart as Hercules, and Angela with a multitude of roles because she was disgusted by Angela's acting performance. In the episode "I Wanna Mould Your Band" she, January and Karlene appear to be singing the song "Everybody Wants to be a French Girl" very well, though it was later revealed that they were "lip syncing" using a speaker concealed inside Nanette's beehive wig (which was extremely heavy because of it), which causes Nanette and her posse to be disqualified from a Tastee Twirl talent contest.
January and Karlene
Nicknamed the "Copycat Clone Club" by Angela, January Cole and Karlene Trainor are Nanette’s best friends—treated more like her servants—who follow Nanette around wherever she goes; basically her girl posse. Karlene is Caucasian while January is African-American. Sporting bouffant hairdos, preppy clothing and beauty moles, they are very concerned with their appearance and look to Nanette for fashion guidance (mainly about facials and makeup). When Nanette makes a statement, January instantly agrees and then Karlene agrees "even more" (though in "Return to Sender" the agreements are switched around so that January agrees "even more", and in "Slice of Life", Nanette irritably asks the two if they could be quiet for at least five seconds). Despite their unyielding devotion to Nanette they are fickle; such as in the episode "Fairweather Friends" when Nanette was bedridden with a head cold, they found themselves without a leader and instantly latched onto Angela, who had the high-status job of organizing the school’s spring fling decorations. However, once Nanette got over her cold, they came back to their leader at the drop of a dime, instantly abandoning Angela, but with a little regret as they were drenched with water from the Manoirs' swimming pool. Nanette and January actually had a falling-out with Karlene in the episode "Kar-Lean on Me" just because Karlene's rich father never brought her a hat made of real fur, resulting in Karlene hanging out with Angela and co. However, it is revealed later in the episode that Karlene was only hanging with them so she could save enough money to buy a real fur hat (since she believed in having fun by spending money, and claiming that she had saved $120 in the time she spent with Angela). Angela later gets even by making Karlene the gang's personal servant in the treehouse, she has a saddened look on her face as she is serving them pizza.
Josephine Praline
A devout Catholic, Josephine acts as a moral rudder for her classmates. She’s sweet, loving and forgiving, but stern when she sees injustice, making her a well-liked character on the show to both viewers and Christian parents. She set up a confessional in the girl's washroom, where her friends come to talk to her about their stresses and worries. She is well-liked by her classmates, but like with Angela, Mrs. Brinks cares very little about her and at one point she snatches a $200 check from Josephine's hands when she revealed that she cheated during a charity bike race. Josephine urges Angela to see the good in Nanette instead of hating her (as seen in the episode "Touched By an Angel-a"), but is surprised when she can't find any good qualities herself. Josephine frequently delivers praise and sometimes glows with a heavenly, serene light. She'd rather be in a Catholic school, but makes the best of her public school experience. Josephine comes from a large family (at least 19 brothers and sisters). In the episode "Cabin Fever" it is revealed that her mother has agoraphobia. Angela pretended that she had agoraphobia in order to skip school and then avoid clapping the blackboard erasers, though Mark and Derek brought a "get well package" home with them which was the erasers. She usually dresses in a Catholic school's school uniform.
Her last name is a pun on the sweet praline.
Jimmy Jamal
An African-American boy in Angela's class, he is frequently seen playing a hand-held video game (called a Slamboy, a direct allusion to Game Boy, which gets confiscated by Mrs. Brinks in the episode "Curse of the Mummy") and talking about his Turbo Trainers, which make him run very fast. He is the son of the mayor of Tapwater Springs. In the episode "The Bird Lady of Tapwater Springs" Angela "heals" his pet iguana Albert (who is female) who seemed to be depressed. It is revealed in the episode "In a Pepper Pickle" that he keeps a diary.
Candy May
Candy May is an incredibly dim child, who appears to cut her own hair, and wears a shirt with a unicorn decal. She hesitates a lot, draws her words out and often confuses herself. She isn’t allowed near sharp objects and loves playing with glitter and paste. She may be older than the other kids and is unsurprisingly the tallest child in the classroom, since she could have been held back a year due to her unintelligence. She refuses to believe two plus two equals four because she thinks that since two times two equals four, two plus two must equal a smaller number (her examples of numbers smaller than four are three and five).
Mrs. Ephegenia Brinks
A dedicated third grade teacher, Mrs. Brinks is an eccentric middle-aged woman with a rather masculine voice (rather, sounding more like a man imitating a woman) and large manly hands. She wears a huge gray beehive wig which hides her short ginger hair, and she dresses in a long-skirted schoolmarm dress, hiding her old figure. Although she’s not a bad teacher, she’s easily manipulated and plays favorites, her decisions always favoring Nanette, whom she sees as the perfect little girl, although there have been moments when Nanette has gotten in trouble with her. Unfortunately, Mrs. Brinks is biased against Angela and is very strict and callous with her (making her the second least favorite character on the show), though in the episode "Jiggly Fruit Classic" she and Angela overcome their differences in order to get old Jiggly Fruit back. Mrs. Brinks likes to believe she's sophisticated and succumbs easily to flattery. She thinks Angela is a bizarre, trouble-making and wayward girl, and constantly punishes her for things she didn't do by making her clap the chalkboard erasers (something Angela has since become very good at) among other punishments. Mrs. Brinks made Angela the top of her class when she believes Angela's poem about her dog is about her in the episode "You're So Vain". She and her frail, generous, and long-suffering husband, Connie Brinks are rumored to be weekend nudists. Angela and her gang often peer into the Brinks' backyard from Angela's tree house to find out if this rumor is true, though the show only shows Angela and her friend's reactions to what they see (later, the rumor is confirmed when Angela tricks Nanette into going in to the backyard). In the episode "Earhart's Heirloom" she claims to have the compass of Amelia Earhart and promises to show it to the class but only if they behave for 30 days running (it is later revealed that the compass was made in Taiwan in 1995 and it was all a scam to get the class to behave). It is revealed in the episode "The Bird Lady of Tapwater Springs" that she has an artificial hip which prevented her from dancing.
Recurring and one-off characters
Gen and Bill Anaconda
Angela’s loving parents. Bill is the inventor of Firm-a-Foam (among several other inventions) and Gen is a sculptor. In the episode "Model Behaviour" Gen was commissioned to sculpt Nanette and Ooh La La in pink marble, but the final statue was rejected by the Manoirs, who thought it was too small (the rejected statue was later used by King to pee on), but the Manoirs do compliment the statue by saying it's very beautiful.
Lulu Anaconda
Angela’s infant sister, who shares her taste in food with the family dog, King. She can only say bawoon (balloon), as she is just a baby in the series.
Mark and Derek Anaconda
Angela’s football obsessed older brothers. They’re rather dimwitted and enjoy head-butting each other. They enjoy teasing Angela and making her the butt of their jokes but they still love her and Lulu a lot. They are on the football team coached by Gordy Reinhardt's father, though we never see them practice.
Grandma Lou
Resident of Florida, Angela's Grandma lives in a swamp full of alligators, and even keeps a pet alligator named Barney. She is incredibly energetic, and water skis despite having one artificial leg (to replace the leg eaten by an alligator.) She visits her family in Tapwater every time Barney eats something that belongs to the local sheriff--such as his dog or the tires from his squad car.
Mr and Mrs Manoir
Nanette's very rich parents, mustachioed Mr. Howell Manoir is an incredibly wealthy but snobbish businessman (as he hesitates saying the word "people" when referring to the Anacondas in "Eating with the Enemy", among other word hesitations) who seems to own a lot of corporate properties in Tapwater Springs. He and Bill have often worked together and have had an on/off friendly relationship; in "Firm-a-Foam" he even invites Bill to sit down for coffee. Mrs. Bunny Manoir is a Southern belle trophy wife (looking a lot like a human version of Barbie) who is especially attached to her daughter, and owns a bracelet made up of gold charms depicting Nanette in various stages of growth. Like Nanette, she arrogantly believes herself to be full-blooded French, but she at best is third- or fourth-generation French American; for example, she believes "foyer" is French for "vestibule" that, while close, it actually means hearth. The two rarely ever punish their daughter for her misbehaviors at school or when she is bullying Angela.
The Abattis
Grandmother Nona Abatti is the owner of Abatti’s Pizzeria, and is obsessed with beating her rivals, Sabatto’s Pizza. At one point, it is revealed that the pizza in Abatti's Pizza did not taste as good when Nona temporarily left Abatti's Pizza, implying that Nona is the best pizza maker in Tapwater Springs. Uncle Nicky is a party animal in his thirties. He says he's been 26 for nine years. He always wears aviator sunglasses and is usually accompanied by two glamorous women. He seems to have a crush on Gina Lash's mother.
King
King is the Anaconda’s family dog and one of Angela’s best friends. King is female in spite of her masculine name. She appears to be some sort of terrier, but is most likely a mongrel. She’s very fond of Nanette’s dog Ooh La La, although their relationship is frowned on by both, Angela and Nanette (as seen in the episode "Puppy Love"). King is very loyal and loving, even though she can’t do any tricks. In the episode "The Pup Who Would be King", King had a litter of puppies, one of which Angela named King II. King II ended up being owned by Mrs. Brinks, who renamed her Princess (much to Angela's chagrin).
Ooh La La
Nanette’s pedigree toy poodle, Ooh La La has had impeccable obedience training and knows many tricks, which doesn’t stop him from running away from Nanette often. Nanette cuddles him and makes him wear a tutu and tiara, but Ooh La La would prefer to be rolling in mud and eating garbage like normal dogs.
Barney
Grandma Lou's fearsome pet alligator, whom she hatched from an egg. Most people see him as a huge, scaly killer, but to her he's as harmless and cute as a puppy. Barney accompanies Grandma Lou wherever she goes, but is not completely trusted, even by Angela, who imagines him capable of devouring the more conventional pets in the neighbourhood.
Alfredo
The Manoirs' sleek-looking butler. Occasionally acting more like a chauffeur and steward at times, he is usually seen driving Nanette around in their limousine or aiding her in various schemes and activities. While he doesn't say much, he seems devoted to the Manoirs and acts as bodyguard to Nanette. However, he may not like the Manoirs very much, as he simply laughed when Nanette was mistakenly whisked away on a rented fire truck after the spring parade. He has been Nanette's caretaker and guardian ever since she was a baby as seen in "Touched by an Angel-a".
CiCi LeCreme
A very wealthy Parisenne foreign exchange student who lives with the Anacondas for a short while (originally intended to be for a month) in the episode "French Connection", CiCi looks much like Nanette, except for her hairstyle and choice of clothes (a short brunette French bob, fancier beret and frilly French traveling dress). She speaks with a heavy Parisienne accent, and is a very sweet and caring girl. Angela tried unsuccessfully to get CiCi to uncover Nanette's fake French heritage by having CiCi talk to Nanette in French, especially complicated sentence structures, and was frustrated when CiCi and Nanette became fast friends (singing Alouette and Frere Jacques during recess, for example). Angela was horrified when CiCi asked Angela to invite Nanette, January and Karlene to a sleepover. The group destroyed Angela's room while Nanette complained about fleas in the Anacondas' house (her earlier excuse for CiCi not moving in with the Manoirs is their mansion being fumigated for fleas). Nanette revealed that she too had a foreign exchange student from the Netherlands (an Angela lookalike dressed in Dutch clothing) who unfortunately did not fit in with the Manoirs' elegant lifestyle. The two students switched residences, much to the happiness of both families, before CiCi heads back home to Paris. CiCi later makes a brief appearance in the episode "The Haunting of Angela Anaconda" where Josephine Praline explains to her and Candy May how scary Angela's Halloween-themed garage is (though CiCi's face is not seen; we only see her from the back); she runs away however, when she and Candy hear evil laughter. In the episode "In a Pepper Pickle" as Angela approaches a tree to scratch her pepper-filled nose, Nanette can he heard saying, "Esce taime esan et grande," ("Are you very tall?" in French) in CiCi's voice/accent.
Prince Abdul Sadin Aballasalidini
A wealthy, but snobbish Arab prince who visited Tapwater Springs Elementary for one day. Mrs. Brinks had the students draw straws to see who would be his guide. Angela ended up tricking Johnny Abatti with a fake salami and pickle sandwich (it was actually baloney with no pickles) to get the longest straw. The Prince, who was enraptured with Nanette and her hair, which he describes as "spools of golden thread", was displeased with Angela. After he quickly ditches Angela to be with Nanette and her posse, Johnny begins harassing Angela about the sandwich. This catches the Prince's attention who begins making fun of Johnny. Johnny threatens to fight the Prince, who has his bodyguard toss Johnny in a garbage can ("Good riddance to bad rubbish"). This enrages Angela, who tackles the Prince. Seeing Angela as the "superior one" due to her anger and passion, he asks her hand in marriage. Angela considers the offer as she would become a wealthy princess, but she quickly decides the food, clothing, and activities involved in being an Arab princess are not exactly to her liking (she wouldn't be able to watch TV, would have to wear robes instead of Western clothing, wouldn't be allowed to drive, and instead would only be carried everywhere, and only allowed to eat caviar, which she must eat five times a day). After one of her imagination sequences, the Prince watches Angela gag at the last thought and decides he does not want to "pollute the gene pool" even though Angela is a nice girl. He leaves the school in his family's helicopter as a sad Nanette bids him farewell; unfortunately, at that point he rejects her because the helicopter blades are blowing strong winds everywhere, messing up her hair and turning it from "spools of golden thread" into "knots of yellow dread". As he comes from Saudi Arabia, it is assumed that his family is in the petroleum business there and they own quite a few oil fields.
Coach Rhinehart
The very macho father of Gordy is a big sports enthusiast, ex-Army officer, coach and physical education teacher of Tapwater Springs Elementary School. Despite his tough exterior and strict attitude toward most of the other children at the school, he has a real soft spot for his artistic and sensitive son Gordy; at times, however, he gently pushes his son into doing physical activities to help him get healthier (like in the episode "Saving Private Gordy"), as he is worried about his son's health quite often. Unfortunately, though, he is a nepotist and only has favor for his son, as he couldn't care less about any of the other schoolchildren, even Nanette and Josephine. Coach Rhinehart secretly coached a professional wrestler to earn enough money to send Gordy to figure skating camp once, though he never admits it to anyone. Despite the obvious difference between himself and his effeminate son, it is clear they love each other and accept their differences. His wife is not shown implying he may be a widower or is divorced, but he did have a very short romantic relationship with Liz Lash. He's also the Nature Survival Counselor for Tapwater Springs Elementary School, and took the children out camping in the woods in one episode to teach them about how wonderful going outside can be. In "Enter the Angela", he gave Angela some one-on-one martial arts training, revealing that he is an excellent martial arts instructor. In "The Haunting of Angela Anaconda", he appears at the end of the episode to scold Mark and Derek for causing pranks on Halloween night, before driving away in his industrial-sized truck. Unfortunately, he doesn't appear very often other than the above appearances, implying that his job is part-time. His first name is unknown.
Liz Lash
The beautiful single mother of Gina Lash, this sensual woman frequently goes on "business trips" with handsome male associates. At one point, Mrs. Lash and Coach Rhinehart had a brief romance, much to the horror of Gordy and Gina.
Mayor Jamal
The father of Jimmy, not much is seen of the mayor of Tapwater Springs. However, he is a proponent of removing dilapidated buildings, as he supported the destruction of the unsafe but historical Tapwater House (opposing Gina Lash and her mother, who wished to save the house so their history wouldn't be lost).
Mr. Mapperson
This elderly gentleman is the owner of Mapperson's Bakery, a local hangout for the youth of Tapwater Springs. His baked goods are especially popular with Gina Lash, who is his favorite customer (she especially likes his cinnamon swirls). When he needed a new face for the Mapperson delivery truck, he held a contest, which all the students fought over. In the end, he chose Gina, who never entered the contest in the first place, for her customer loyalty.
Mr. Tastee Twirl
This man with a head shaped like an ice cream cone who drives the ice cream truck around Tapwater Springs. Gina Lash has a crush on him. In the episode "I Wanna Mould Your Band" he hosted a contest, which would allow the winner to ride in his ice cream truck with him and ring the bell. He is an homage to Mister Softee.
Dr (Miss) Yamagotchi
A fiery, eccentric Japanese woman with a thick accent, she heads many activities in Tapwater Springs. She has been seen as the tour guide of the museum, head of dog obedience training, driver of a mobile library around Tapwater Springs and the head of the Junior Rangerette's, the Girl Scouts-like troop that the young girls of Tapwater Springs belong to. She is fond of The Wizard of Oz. Her name is an obvious pun of Tamagotchi, the original virtual pet, which were popular a few years before the show aired.
Mr. Mooie
A ventriloquist's dummy originally owned by Bill Anaconda. Mr. Mooie's ability to mesmerize audiences makes them love him more than the person controlling him. Angela felt a rise her in popularity when she showed Mr. Mooie for show and tell, but soon realized the kids only liked Mr. Mooie, not her. She threw him into a dumpster and the puppet's eyes opened eerily.
Chuck
This burly, hairy man prepares and serves lunch to the students of Tapwater Elementary. He is famous for his Jiggly Fruit, a favorite Jell-o like dessert among the students. Once took Sherman, the class chicken, so he could cook her eggs.
Dirk Dirkson
A former private investigator, who wears a trench coat and black sunglasses, he is great at solving cases and is an object of Mrs. Brinks' affection. At one point, he became the personal bodyguard of Nanette, after his retirement from P.I. work.
Daniel Nelles
A short, irritating member of Angela's class. He has rat-like facial features. He is best known for his catchphrase, "That's a big cheese!"
Astronaut Bob
The internationally famous astronaut who is Angela's hero. Angela won a day with him at the annual Tapwater Springs auction, but Nanette, who had purchased his helmet, got him to spend the time with her. However, at the end of the day, he ate pizza with Angela and the two made it on the wall of fame at Abatti's pizza. He was part of a charity to save manatees, and Howell Manoir offered to give Bob $1,000 to have for his charity, but he politely declined.
Bob
A good-looking boy who attends Angela's school. Ironically, before Bob was transferred to Tapwater Elementary, Angela had made up an imaginary boyfriend named Bob to impress Nanette.
Connie Brinks
The mild-mannered, quiet, and long-suffering husband of the overbearing Mrs. Brinks. He's a humble man, often ridiculed and berated by his wife, whom he deeply loves. In the episode "Brinks of No Return", it is implied that before Nanette came along, he and Mrs. Brinks used to be much closer. As he and Angela were being bossed around by Mrs. Brinks at the Brinks household (such as being forced to do laundry in the rain and being forced to do the dishes while Nanette and Mrs. Brinks do nothing), he is seen muttering "Nanninsky Buttinsky" (one of Angela's nicknames for Nanette), as well as developing a minor friendship with Angela. He is a very small and thin man, in contrast to the rotund Mrs. Brinks. He is a nudist like his wife. He enjoys his amateur radio and controls the Tapwater Springs private TV channel. In the episode "The Great Granny Grudge", it is revealed that Conrad is his real name, and, despite being much younger than them, was the object of affection for both Lou Anaconda and Nona Abatti, as he went bowling with them. He caused a life-long feud between the two of them by telling them both he promised a girl he would only go bowling with her, and they both suspected each other. In "Ice Breakers", he is seen giving ice skating lessons.
Mega Giants
A franchise of toys, trading cards, and movies that is very popular with the youth in Tapwater Springs. Prominent is Kid Colossus. Mega Giants are a combination of Power Rangers, Super Sentai, the Fantastic 4 , Batman, and other superheroes, but seemed more likely to be a spoof of Digimon.
Bug Thugs
A toy craze, these electronic bug toys say rude phrases at the touch of a button.
Chris Nicol
Johnny's cousin from Italy who speaks very little English. He introduced Angela and the gang to "Pizza shoes".
Geraldine Klump
The substitute teacher when Mrs. Brinks became ill, "Geri" is a free-spirited and adventurous woman with very lenient views toward teaching and punishment. It is implied that she likes pizza and dislikes the school's cafeteria food, as she thought Mrs. Brinks and the principal got sick from eating the cafeteria food. She is the opposite of Mrs. Brinks who quickly bonds with Angela due to her kindness, and dislikes Nanette and her crew due to the trio's (Nanette, January, and Karlene) snobbery, as opposed to liking Nanette and her crew and disliking Angela. For example, she called Nanette's topic for the rain forest project "a peck full of poppycock", as well as taking revenge on Nanette and Mrs. Brinks by sending them, along with January and Karlene, to the supply room, while Angela and her classmates, except for Nanette, January, and Karlene, are rewarded with a free recess period. A running gag in the episode she was in is that she can't remember Nanette's name, calling her instead "Annette" (which is close) or "Janet".
Unnamed characters
Also frequently shown in many scenes of the show, are an elderly Asian man who is related to Miss Yamagotchi, a hippie woman, a pro-wrestler that Coach Rhinehart coaches for extra money, two lovely ladies in either pink or gold who are Nicky Abatti's girlfriends, and various students in Angela's class.
Angela also has a song and film clip, 'Ninnypoo', which stars Angela with her friends Gina, Johnny and Gordy, as well as Nannette and her two friends, January and Carlene. The song is about how fakely French Nannette Manoir actually is.
