Style policy
Hi. About a day you ago, you dropped in on the Film Booking Offices of America article and changed the phrase "seven hundred theaters" to "700 theaters" (I've restored it). So this sort of thing doesn't happen again, with some other article, you should be aware of two things:
- The general Wikipedia guideline on differing style preferences: "In June 2005, the Arbitration Committee ruled that, when either of two styles is acceptable, it is inappropriate for a Wikipedia editor to change from one style to another unless there is some substantial reason for the change."
and
- The specifically relevant Wikipedia guideline: "Numbers above ten may be written out if they are expressed in two or fewer words, except in tables and infoboxes. Example: 'sixteen', 'eighty-four', 'two hundred', 'twenty million' but '3.75', '544', '21 million'."

Hitchcock films
Hi, thanks for your contributions to these articles. Just a few points, though - subheadings are usually only capitalised for the first letter, per the Wikipedia:Manual of Style (headings), i.e. "External links". Also, I'm not convinced that the external links to the Turner Classic film database are very helpful, as they give little extra information beyond which the articles already give. Tjmayerinsf -
Hello. You have made some wonderful additions to the Color film (motion picture) article, but all of them are uncited. I am working to clean up this article and would appreciate if you could provide citations for any of the questionable areas (noted in the article) for the information you have provided. All the best, LACameraman 00:13, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
- Hi. I see you've been away from Wikipedia for a bit. I've been cleaning up Color film (motion picture) fairly considerably over the last two weeks. I ended up removing several passages you added in (mostly minor notes on smaller/secondary processes or companies) that I could not verify. If you have sources for these notes and would like to re-add them citing the various sources, please do. I hope when you return to Wikipedia, you have the opportunity to contribute once again to the article. All the best LACameraman 08:39, 15 February 2007 (UTC)
- TJ - Once again, you made some wonderful contributions to this article - but I have deleted the massive addition you made on Technicolor as it is not germane to this article. This information belongs in the Technicolor article, but not in the Color film (motion picture) article. That kind of detail on one system renders an overview article unbalanced.LACameraman 23:56, 26 March 2007 (UTC)
References
TJ - As I've noted before, you've added some good information to articles here, but neglected to cite them. Today you added a citation, but it is inappropriately placed. The passage, which you originally added, at Color film (motion picture) reads:
"Technicolor began as a subtractive color process developed by Dr. Herbert Kalmus, Dr. Daniel Comstock, and W. Burton Wescott in 1915 (see Additive section below) when Kalmus and Comstock were at MIT. The release of The Gulf Between (1917), filmed in Jacksonville, Florida and starring Grace Darmond and Niles Welch, was marred by persistent projection problems in its national tour. Only a few frames of this film are known to exist today."
You added an IMDb link as a citation at the end of this paragraph ([1]). Doing so means that the ENTIRE paragraph - or what is IMMEDIATELY preceding the citation is what that reference confirms. The IMDb confirms nothing about "persistent projection problems", a national tour or that only a few frames still exist. All that the IMDb can reference is that there was a movie in 1917 called The Gulf Between the location and cast. It is not necessary to utilize the IMDb as a reference for this material. The IMDb page references this film as the first Technicolor film, but unfortunately the IMDb is not considered a reliable resource for its' trivia entries.
I offer the above because, by way of your contributions, it seems that you may not be clear on how to use references. I have removed the IMDb reference and replaced the "citation needed" tag. The comments that Technicolor started as a subtractive process, was started during their time at MIT and that The Gulf Between print was marred by projection problems and only a few frames exist are the elements that need to be cited. The rest of the information is easily verifiable or otherwise cited in the article. Thanks for continuing to contribute to Wikipedia and to Project Filmmaking pages. All the best, LACameraman 06:54, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
No need to spend time piping those links
Hi. I just noticed that you've put piped category links into a few articles (Castro Theatre|Castro Theatre, Roxy Theatre|Roxy Theatre) where they aren't necessary. The piped link for (The Roxie|Roxie, The) is useful, but when the first word of the article title is the word under which the subject is supposed to be alphabetized on the category page anyway (Castro, Roxy, etc), Wikipedia will place it properly in the list without the addition of the pipe- so there's no point in wasting your time adding the piped sections to those links. British dates?
Is there a reason why you changed all the dates in John Stossel to the British system? Stossel is an American journalist, and when you actually click on the links for the dates the articles use the American system. --JHP 10:20, 17 March 2007 (UTC)
Actually you can set your prefered date system in your preferences. [[Janurary 1]], [[2000]] will then be displayed as 1 January 2000. --32X 19:23, 9 May 2007 (UTC)
Recent Color Film edits
Hi, Tjmayerinsf!
You might have noticed that User:LACameraman reverted some of your recent edits to Color film (motion picture), and I thought maybe I should try to explain why. The IMDB is unfortunately not considered an authoritative source. First and foremost, it is often wrong. Secondly, it doesn't cite sources so it's very hard to follow the trail past it.
Also, please don't forget to provide an edit summary, it makes it a lot easier for other people to understand your edits, especially when there are multiple ones. Thanks again! jhawkinson 13:16, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

James Dean reference in The Spirit of St. Louis (film)
Hi TJ, I am curious where you found the reference to James Dean being considered for the role of Charles Lindbergh in the Spirit of St. Louis film biography. I read and reread biographies of James Stewart and could find only a reference to studio head Jack Warner offering the part to John Kerr in 1954 who turned it down. A well-known incident involving Stewart and his father making a plea to producer Leland Hayward for "Jimmy" Stewart to play Lindbergh also occurred in 1954. Stewart went on a prolonged diet to better fit the gaunt look of a younger man. Before he found out that he got the part, he had dropped so much weight that he looked ill. The role was cast late in 1954 with production shooting begun in August 1955. At that point, James Dean had just come to Hollywood to make his first film. FWIW Bzuk 02:37, 4 July 2007 (UTC).

Blue links
Hello. You blue-linked the name Richard Quine in the "1942 film" section of My Sister Eileen. I intentionally had not blue-linked there it because it is blue-linked in the "1940 play" section that immediately precedes it. (The name appears again in the "1955 film" section, but for some reason you didn't blue-link it there.) It's my understanding that a name or word should be blue-linked only once per article. Am I wrong? Thank you. ConoscoTutto 16:25, 23 August 2007 (UTC)
This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Dominic Angerame, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.cinemod.net/about.html. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences.
This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot 02:20, 13 September 2007 (UTC)

Weber's last waltz
I think in an article on Reissiger in Dwight's Journal (scanned in in Google Books) Reissiger is quoted (pardon grammar... pardon me about grammar... something :) ) - on the subject of the origins of the title "Weber's Last Waltz" - that he'd sent the waltz to Weber and it was much liked by him, found among his effects and mistakenly assumed to be his (CM v Weber's, that is)- or to that effect. I'll have to look up the details and cite; I found the tale interesting... Schissel | Sound the Note! 02:01, 11 November 2007 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Follow the Boys (1963 film)
A tag has been placed on Follow the Boys (1963 film) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

Hey happy holidays. Question: what's the deal with the removal of periods in the external section of an article. e.g.) The Killers (1946 film). That was your only edit in the article. Three Stooges
Hi - not quite sure why you added the year of the film to all the Three Stooges entries, as Wikipedia policy is not to add the film year next to the film title if the title is linked to the main page or if you are already on the main page. I have undo all of the edits. Please check wikipedia policy first before doing massive edits of this nature.
Also, not sure why you relisted the name the Three Stooges as The Three Stooges, as it was properly linked first time around. These edits have been undone as well. You will see when you click on the latter entry, it has to redirect to the Three Stooges page.

Proposed deletion of Beatific Vision (2008 film)
A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Beatific Vision (2008 film), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Speedy deletion of Tulip Time: The Rise and Fall of the Trio Lescano
A tag has been placed on Tulip Time: The Rise and Fall of the Trio Lescano, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. Speedy deletion of Beatific Vision (2008 film)
A tag has been placed on Beatific Vision (2008 film) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.
If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must include on the external site the statement "I, (name), am the author of this article, (article name), and I release its content under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License, Version 1.2 and later." You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

Will you be creating the Kismet (1920 film) article? E_dog95' Hi ' 06:43, 28 November 2008 (UTC)
November 2008
Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Please don't forget to provide an edit summary, as you forgot on your recent edit to Kismet. Thank you. We have a hard time knowing what editors do without seeing any edit summaries. You are not the only person working on this project. Please help us understand what you are doing by communicating with us. You can find guidance and even a "how to" at WP:edit summary. E_dog95' Hi ' 06:58, 28 November 2008 (UTC)
I know you've heard this before, but...
...please don't forget to leave an edit summary! It only takes a second and it's good Wiki etiquette.
Thanks,

Hi there. I'm working on the article for the radio show Flywheel, Shyster, and Flywheel, and on 8 February 2008 you edited it and said "According to Stefan Kanfer in his biography Groucho (2003), Harpo was paid a weekly salary for not appearing on the show." I woul like to eventually take this article to WP:FA and was wondering if you had the page number for a {{cite book}} reference. Regards, Matthewedwards (talk • contribs • email) 01:54, 7 December 2008 (UTC)
- Hi. I was just wondering if you'd had a chance to look yet. Regards, Matthewedwards (talk • contribs • email) 01:51, 9 December 2008 (UTC)
- Thank you, it's much appreciated. What do you think of the changes so far? Matthewedwards (talk • contribs • email) 05:39, 10 December 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah, I don't check my email as often as I should. I just read your message you sent though, so thanks. Thank you for the encouraging words regarding Flywheel, Shyster, and Flywheel, too. Matthewedwards (talk • contribs • email) 23:56, 11 December 2008 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Arthur Nadel
A tag has been placed on Arthur Nadel requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the article or have a copy emailed to you. manadude2 (talk) 23:06, 17 January 2009 (UTC)

WTTG
Hi Tj,
Thanks for your work on the DuMont programs list. However, I reverted your entry listing WTTG, as the following sentence states "These stations were not DuMont-owned stations but were affiliated with the network." adding WTTG to that list makes the statement false. Tjmayerinsf, to add models such Carmen Dell'Orefice to the Supermodel article as supermodels, valid references are required. When valid references are not added, such models are removed from the article. Flyer22 (talk) 22:51, 9 March 2009 (UTC)
Proposed deletion of Stephen Walsh (money manager)
A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Stephen Walsh (money manager), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:
- Per BLP1E, not notable.
All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. - Hi. I appreciate that you made some efforts to paraphrase the text on Anthrax War so it would no longer be a copyright infringement. Unfortunately, adding synonyms and minor alterations in the sentences won't relieve the plagiarism issue. As it is currently written, the text will need to be deleted as a copyright violation. You are welcome to rewrite the text using original language. The page on WP:Close paraphrasing can provide you with some explanations and help. In the long run, it is always better to simply write the text from scratch using your own words. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Regards. Theleftorium 22:30, 16 August 2009 (UTC)

Anthrax Wars, New American Century, etc.
Please be aware that articles created without reliable sources are likely to be deleted; as are articles which seem to be promotional in nature. The producer of a film is not a reliable source because of the strong conflict of interest. There is no deadline for Wikipedia; we do not need to have an article in here for a film in time for that film's premiere, appearance at a film festival, etc. --Orange Mike | Talk 17:33, 31 August 2009 (UTC)

Copyright warning
Hi Tjmayerinsf. Please stop adding copyright violations to Wikipedia. You may use copyrighted publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences or phrases. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously, and persistent violators are blocked from editing. While we appreciate contributions, we must require all contributors to understand and comply with our copyright policies. If you have any questions, please leave them at my talkpage. Thank you. Trivia
Please note I removed the trivia that you added to the cast list of For the Love of Mike. While the information may indeed be correct, you have not provided a source to allow for verification of the information. "Flowers of Asphalt"
I've reverted your recent additions regarding "Flowers of Asphalt" to Stephen Crane's article. While I'm equally interested in the possibility that such a story might have at some point existed, even in draft form, I think its dubious existence is enough to not include it in his article, which is currently Featured. Wertheim himself states that "no trace of the manuscript has been found", and seeing as how all we know about it comes from he-said, she-said, it doesn't really warrant mention alongside "The Open Boat" and Red Badge of Courage. Please also note that Crane died when he was 28, not 29 -- another user has already corrected your edit in that regard. Take care, María (habla conmigo) 04:12, 22 February 2010 (UTC)

DuMont
Hi Tjmayerinsf,
You've recently changed what the article Down You Go says without changing the source. Your new version states that the Museum of Broadcast Communications holds a copy of Down You Go, with a reference to this page, which does not list Down You Go. When you change information, you must cite your source for that content. What is the source for the material you've added? Firsfron of Ronchester 16:42, 16 May 2010 (UTC)
The article 9/11 Film Festival has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- not notable, can't find any reliable sources reporting on this.
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Prezbo (talk) 17:24, 28 May 2010 (UTC)
Hi, would you be so kind as to give us support!
Hello, I hope you're doing fine and I sincerely apologize for this intrusion. I'm Claudi Balaguer, a member of a Catalan association "Amical de la Viquipèdia" which is trying to get some recognition as a Catalan Chapter but this hasn't been approved up to that moment. I know that you are also trying to obtain a Californian Chapter and I sincerely hope that you will succeed and I think that all the members of our association feel likewise because denying it implies, in my opinion, going against the spreading of knowledge creating boundaries to creativity and collective voluntary work. So maybe I am not bothering you and you will help us... We would appreciate your support, visible if you stick this on your first page: Wikimedia CAT. Supporting us will be like giving equal opportunity to minorized languages, cultures and local or regional entities in the future! Thanks again, wishing you a great summer, take care! I wish I could visit your great, beautiful and sunny region once more soon! If you ever need my (probably "our" too) help you can count on me even though I'm currently really far away from California. Capsot (talk) 15:49, 13 June 2010 (UTC)
You are now a Reviewer
Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.
Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.
When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.
If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 17:52, 18 June 2010 (UTC)
