Naipaul galleries

Thanks for you edit and for the links to MOS. Although I removed the multiple issues tag, as the article is under construction, I've taken your gallery-related advice to heart. I'm changing the gallery to a rotation template, which will show only one image at a time. Thanks again, Fowler&fowler«Talk» 10:06, 25 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Philg88

Hello Philg88, will you mind if I ask you not to use the image file ( this one) in your signature due to this reasons. Thank you for your understanding. Jim Carter (talk) 14:49, 25 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I do mind, there are far more important matters that require your attention than my signature - I suggest that you start with your contribution history. ► Philg88 ◄ talk 15:08, 25 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sorry if you feel bad. I told you assuming good faith but I think you have taken my words negatively. Anyway, thank you for keeping my contributions on your watchlist. I don't wanted to hurt you in this case; actually my network connection is so week that I cannot load pages properly. And I have seen earlier that image files slows down the connection speed so I asked you. And BTW I felt your words are little bit rude. But I can't do anything it is upto you how you behave with others.
I retracted my earlier comments. I don't know the reason why you feel bad, but still I'm sorry. Jim Carter (talk) 15:43, 25 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
There, I've changed it. ► Philg88 ◄ talk 15:49, 25 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Good job. And again I'm sorry if you feel bad. BTW It will be helpful if you let me know which issues of me you are talking about ? Jim Carter (talk) 15:57, 25 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I don't feel in the slightest bit bad so I wouldn't worry. That aside, this is not the place to go into what concerns me about your contributions - I will try and give you some helpful pointers in the right places that I hope will be useful. ► Philg88 ◄ talk 16:13, 25 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

After a bit investigation, I have found that Anshumanraj312 is a possible sockpuppet of the actual creator of the article, Talk2rajanshu. There are two possible reasons; firstly both the names are Indian and the meaning of both the account names are almost same. (Anshmanraj312 = rajansh) Secondly, a new editor (only two edits on the same page) will surely not edit a page which don't have much traffic. And lastly, both the accounts were accessed from India. So, I think this case must be taken directly to SPI. I'm not productive this days so I request you to do this onbehalf of me. Thank you for bringing this on my notice. Jim Carter (talk) 15:34, 27 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Jim, Good work. I'm not so sure about starting an SPI investigation though, as neither user has done anything untoward (yet?) I'll keep an eye on it. Cheers, ► Philg88 ◄ talk 16:10, 27 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Huizhou University - Trying to avoid an edit war

Thanks for the comment. You are right, I wrongfully said vandalism when I should have said 'continuation of last year's edit war. There is a ton of backstory to what is going on with the Huizhou University page, but essentially a disgruntled employee (user 59.41.252.229) constantly tries to add negative poorly sourced materials to the page to make the institution look bad. He did this last year until the page was semi-locked down. I have to admit that I have a conflict of interests myself, as I have once again come to be employed by the school, but I am trying to keep a neutral tone while not having my employer disparaged based on rumors and groundless accusations. I just saw that the edits I removed have in fact been restored by said user, so feel free to go have a look at the differences yourself. In fact, I'd appreciate it more users could review the changes to weigh in on the edits. AndreGallant (talk) 12:55, 28 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Sites, landmarks and capitalization

Hi, I noticed that you moved a bunch of articles about China's Major National Historical and Cultural Sites to Major national historical and cultural sites (Major national historical and cultural sites (Guangxi), Major national historical and cultural sites (Shaanxi), Major national historical and cultural sites (Tianjin) Major national historical and cultural sites (Hebei), etc.).

I'm wondering if the moves are appropriate for such articles, considering articles such as United States' National Historic Landmark or National Register of Historic Places are using the capitalized format, see examples such as List of National Historic Landmarks in New Mexico, List of National Historic Landmarks in New York, List of National Historic Landmarks in Wisconsin, and National Register of Historic Places listings in Minnesota. Many other similar articles, such as Canada's List of National Historic Sites of Canada in British Columbia are in the same format. What do you think?--TheLeopard (talk) 10:16, 31 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi TheLeopard, interesting question. I used to be a great fan of capitalising things until I started reading up on the whole issue. The key is in deciding whether something is a proper noun or a collection of entities forming a "class", which is sometimes but not always a list. So, with the "Major national historical and cultural sites" the individual members are in some cases proper nouns but when they are presented together they are not. By the same token, something can be a "National Historic Landmark", but a class or list of "National historic landmarks" never is. The "National Register of Historic Places" is a proper noun but "List of national historic landmarks in New Mexico" etc. are not and should be lowercase. Similarly, "National Register of Historic Places listings in Minnesota" is correct because the first part is a proper noun and the second part is not, except for the state name. Sorry if this appears a bit rambling but there is logic in the whole thing, which leads to a definitive set of grammar rules. WP:NCCAPS could really do with some additional info on this important topic. Best, ► Philg88 ◄ talk 10:43, 31 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the reply. I do think these articles (list of sites and landmarks in China, United States, Canada, etc.) really ought to have a uniform format. The differences in capitalization between the list of landmarks in the United States and the list of Chinese sites doesn't make much sense.--TheLeopard (talk) 13:30, 31 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Indeed. The reason I haven't started on any other similar changes per the Chinese culture/history articles is that it takes an awful lot of time. Each list has to be done pretty much at the same time to avoid ending up with an inconsistent mess. Cheers, ► Philg88 ◄ talk 13:37, 31 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for reviewing. Here is the explanation of my original topic that I think it's better not to change.

The topic of my article is "missing women of China". You helped me with reviewing it and gave me a suggestion that it's better to change my topic to "Gender imbalance in China". I'm very thankful for your reviewing and suggestions. While I think I want to keep the original topic. The reason is that gender imbalance is a broader idea. Missing women is just one aspect of gender imbalance. The reason I talked sex-selective abortion a lot is that it is one of the main reasons of missing women of China.

My article focus on the missing women, which is narrower than gender imbalance. That's the reason I think it might be better to keep my original topic.

I'm not sure if I make it clear about keeping the topic unchanged. If you still think it's better to change the topic, let me know please. Thank you so much! I'll keep improving it. More suggestions are welcomed. ^o^ Thank you again for reviewing and suggestions. Thanks! Yangtana Li (talk) 01:17, 2 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Yangtana Li and thanks for your message. A title like "Missing women in China" is potentially confusing and misleading, since it implies that such people are somehow "lost", which is not the case since they were never there in the first place. That is why I suggested "Gender imbalance in China", which is the broad topic, and in that article you then have a section using your title, "Sex-selective abortion", to which "Gender imbalance in China" currently redirects, is also a subtopic of "Gender imbalance in China". So, what we should end up with in an ideal world is an article on "Gender imbalance in China" with sections on "Sex-selective abortion" and "Missing women". The "Sex-selective abortion" section will have a main link to that article while your section ... well ... it depends how long it is. For now, there is a further issue, which is that as it stands your proposed article reads like a an essay and contains original research, neither of which are permitted under Wikipedia guidelines. I suggest that you sort those out first and we'll move on from there. 顺便,我看得懂中文, Best, ► Philg88 ◄ talk 09:46, 2 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@Philg88: Hi Philg88, sorry for the late reply. I was busy with my Wikipedia draft and other course exam last week. Missing women is a terminology in gender area coined by Amartya Sen, a Nobel Prize winner. There is already an article called "Missing women of Asia" in Wikipedia, so I think "Missing women of China" is ok as well. I hope you don't mind I explain it in Chinese. 根据我的instructor的建议,我已经把 topic 改成 Missing women of China 了。之前的 Missing women in China 确实容易产生误导。改了之后看起来应该会好一些。我还是觉得 Missing women of China 比 Gender imbalance in China 更合适。 However, now I have a big problem with my Wikipedia page and I really need your help. According to the writing center of our university and my professor's advices, I made a lot of changes with my Wikipedia page from last Friday to Saturday. Then I moved it to the namespace on Sunday according to my course's requirement. But now I find it has been deleted. It's said, "the page is not ready for Articlespace and Please do not move it back untill it passes AFC)". I'm so worried that my course gonna end this week and the due date of the Wikipedia contribution will coming soon. Could you tell me how can I make it moved to the namespace successfully without deleting? If you need to see my revised article, I can send it to you.(through email or something else?) I really need your help. Thank you so so so much! Yangtana Li (talk) 14:01, 14 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Yangtana Li and thanks for the message. 不要担心, your article hasn't been deleted, you moved it to the article space before it had been reviewed at AfC when you should have waited. That isn't allowed under the AfC guidelines so another editor moved it back to the draft space pending completion of the review. You can now find it at Draft:Missing women of China. I understand that you have a pressing requirement to get this into main space so first of all you need to resubmit the article for review by clicking on the "Resubmit" button at the top of the draft page. Before you do that, you will see that I have put two requests for clarification in the first paragraph. Please address those before you resubmit. Once you have done the resubmission, leave me a message here (don't forget the "ping" to tell me its done) and I will do the review either later today or first thing tomorrow. Let's make sure that we get you through this course requirement! Best, ► Philg88 ◄ talk 04:51, 15 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Philg88. I saw your reply on Hasteur's talk page just now. I'm sorry for that. I don't know that it's not good to leave messages on others' talk page before you told me that. I just too worried to do that this afternoon. Sorry for that. I've seen your two comments in my article page. I'm trying to revise it to make it more like an encyclopaedia rather than an essay. For another problem you mentioned, the title, I still prefer to keep "Missing women of China". I have two reasons for that. First, "missing women" is a more academic phrase. Since there already exists the terminology, I think it is better to use it. People will search "Missing women" instead of "Gender imbalance" if they are trying to get some relevant informations. There are many journal articles on google scholar talking about missing women. I think this is the most important reason. Another reason is that "gender imbalance" includes two side: males are far more than females or males are much less than females. "Missing women" is the former one due to discriminations against females. You know, in China, females are much less than males. 不知道我是不是把我的想法表述清楚了。What do you think of that? You also mentioned sex-selective abortion above. I saw the article you linked above and sex-selective abortion indeed caused the imbalanced sex ratio in China. Therefore, it can also be a subtopic of missing women of China, right? ^o^

It is 00:03 a.m. now In Salt Lake City. I gonna sleep now. Good rest can help study. ^o^ I will keep working on the article tomorrow morning and finish revising as soon as possible in tomorrow. By the way, what is "ping" you mentioned above? Thank you for helping me with the article and giving me advices! Thanks! Sorry for leaving message anywhere again. Yangtana Li (talk) 00:03, 15 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Yangtana Li. 我明白你的意思,没问题。 Let's leave the article title as it is for now - it can always be moved later. The most important thing is to get the article fixed up and into the main space. I will carry on going through it, making changes to fit Wikipedia guidelines and leaving notes where appropriate. Once you have addressed these, resubmit the article and I will review it. The "ping" I mentioned is to alert me to a new message from you (which you do like this: Philg88) - normally you don't need to do that on a user talk page because notification is automatic, but as your requirement is urgent it means that I'm more likely to see a message from you. 祝你好睡觉, ► Philg88 ◄ talk 06:48, 15 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@Philg88: Hi Philg88, Thank you so much for your revisions on my article yesterday. I just saw them today. Thank you so much for that! I'm really appreciated! Based on your revisions, I made some other tiny changes on my article (deleted some words and sentences, added some in-text citations), deleted one subsection ( in consequences section), and instead added another subsection (still in consequences section). I'm not sure if the article now can match the Wikipedia guidelines. Could you help me to check please? Thank you!! The most worried thing for me is whether the article still looks like an essay. >< If there are still something need to be changed please let me know. I'm always staying here until late midnight. Thank you!! Yangtana Li (talk) 18:57, 15 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Yangtana Li. OK, I've made some further final revisions. Once you have addressed the one request for clarification the article should be good to go. You will need to resubmit it then I will do the review. Best, ► Philg88 ◄ talk 05:53, 16 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@Philg88: Hi Philg88, thanks for your current revisions! Thank you! I've changed the second sentence in "Aging population effects" and added the citation there, but I'm not sure if I made the citation in the right place (the citation I made is after the comma). Is it the request you said above? I'm so sorry for one thing: I just want to change the "in" to "of " in the first sentence you added for me, because changing "in" to "of" will seems to be the same with the article title. But I accidentally deleted part of the sentence and I don't remember what is you revised expression. So I can just rewrite it. So I'm not sure if the first sentence now looks ok. So sorry for that! So could I resubmit the article now or do it after you check the first sentence of the article for my deleting by mistake? (sorry again.) Do I need to notify you after I resubmit? Yangtana Li (talk) 01:03, 16 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@Yangtana Li: I've fixed up the first sentence - please do not change it as the grammar is correct. You can go ahead and resubmit the article - you don't need to notify me as I am watching the page. I have also listed myself as the article's reviewer on the coursework page. Cheers, ► Philg88 ◄ talk 07:28, 16 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@Philg88: Thanks so much! I'm really appreciated about your helping! Sorry for taking your busy time, but I still have to questions: (1). Is it means that all I need to do after resubmit is to waiting for reviewing? And could I move the article to the namespace by myself? when could I do that? or anyone else will do that but not me? (2). I just click the resubmit button and then click the save button in the new coming out page. Have I finish the resubmission with this two steps? I've seen nothing changed in my page except a reviewing waiting box at the very bottom of the page. The top of the page after I resubmit is still with "Draft". Sorry for so much questions at your busy time. Yangtana Li (talk) 01:51, 16 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@Yangtana Li: You're welcome. I will do the review now. As for moving the article, because you previously moved it to the main space when you should not have, only an administrator can now move the article. I'm glad you like it CWH —it was a pain converting all the piculs to metric tons but I thought that would make the data more accessible. Can you copyedit

Hello Philg88, I know you are an expert copyeditor so I was wondering if you can do some copyediting here. Please help me here. Thank you. Jim Carter (talk) 02:22, 4 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Jim Cartar, thanks for the message. I took a look at your draft and without being critical, what you are asking for isn't a copyedit, it's the creation of an article from a list of facts, which is a very different thing. While I could probably make a half decent job of it, I don't want to take it on at this stage because I know too little about the topic and don't feel I could do your research justice. I suggest that you have a go at creating the requisite prose from the bulleted lists and I will then polish it for you. Best, ► Philg88 ◄ talk 04:58, 4 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Jim Cartar please slow down! Wikipedia is a marathon rather than a sprint and no, it isn't finished. As I said previously, I will let you know when it is. The copyedit on your article is not a two minute job and requires a lot of thought so please be patient. As for the DYK, the clock only starts once the article enters the main space so there is no rush. Best, ► Philg88 ◄ talk 06:22, 9 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Oh sorry, please take your time there is no hurry. I'm sorry. Jim Carter (talk) 07:01, 9 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@Jim Cartar: The copyedit of your article is now complete; here are a few comments to bear in mind:

 • There are still three bulleted lists in the article - good articles use prose
 • You should decide what you are calling this group - sometimes you refer to them as Moderates, sometimes as Early Nationalists. It's your call which one you use but be consistent.
 • Don't forget to convert Category:History of India and Category:Indian politicians at the end of the article text into categories.

And anything else. I mean WP:OVERLINK as you mentioned in the edit summary? And since you have many articles featured on DYK so what you think should I take this for DYK? will it pass? Jim Carter (talk) 07:44, 11 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@Jim Cartar: You don't want much do you?
I've fixed the over/duplicate links but you need to address these two further issues as well as those listed above:
 • There are too many links in the lead - read WP:LEAD and follow the advice, I recommend that you move all the references in the lead to the appropriate places in the main body.
 • There are three citations missing
As for the DYK, nothing explosively interesting or world-changing jumps out of the article as it stands. Consider these questions: were the Early Nationalists the first to do something? Did they do something that altered the course of world history? What made them unique? If you can identify something that fits one of these criteria —with references to back it up— then you can certainly submit it for DYK. There is no "pass" or "fail" for DYK if it meets the criteria explained here. So, provided you follow the rules, there is no reason why it won't be accepted. ► Philg88 ◄ talk 08:24, 11 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you so much for your help. I have done what you said. But I can't change the bullets into prose because I know little bit about them. And I can't find much about them after some research. Now can you take a quick look. I will move it tomorrow. And yes it has made a change in our Indian history because they are the starting point of organished nationalistic movement in India. I have also added a reference to it. So that it can be taken for DYK. Thanks again. Jim Carter (talk) 14:54, 11 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Okay. Can I use this hook [....] that the Early Nationalists were the formal beginning of the organised national movement in India?. This hook is mentioned on the lead section. Jim Carter (talk) 09:13, 18 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@Jim Cartar:The hook is OK for length and there is a reference to it, however, the reference is "offline". Some reviewers will accept that AGF, others may request an online source. I would find and add another reference if I were you to beef it up a bit. You also need to fix the ISBN of the existing reference - it is flagged as an error. I happen to know off the top of my head that the correct isbn is 978-0195-7773-45 :) Cheers,  Philg88 talk 09:26, 18 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Chien-Shiung Wu

Thanks for the help; the solution makes a lot of sense. Do you know if the use of a bibliography in articles is reserved for this kind of specific case? I can't find mention of it in WP:MoS; or are these conventions drawn from a more general academic style manual? Thanks again. →ozhu (talk·contribs) 10:42, 6 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Ozhu, you can use a bibliography like this in any article and it's not really a question of style, hence why it's not in the style guide. Be aware though, that where an article has a citation system established by consensus you should discuss proposed changes before jumping in. You can find more info on using shortened footnotes here. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. I noticed your recent edit to Papaver somniferum does not have an edit summary. Please provide one before saving your changes to an article, as the summaries are quite helpful to people browsing an article's history.

Hi Philg88,

Thanks for getting in touch and thank you for all the work you do for Wikipedia. My apologies for not providing an edit summary - I am barely computer literate, and my ability to edit to Wikipedia is very rudimentary. I added the 'cocaine = snow' reference as it acts as a counterpoint to the 'poppy = opium = sleep' mentioned in the article. It is almost 20 years since I read this factoid and chasing down the reference is a bit time consuming for me.

Anyway, you have prompted me to improve my Wikipedia skills. I see the cocaine reference has been removed which is fine by me.

Best wishes

John

Hi John and thanks for your message. I appreciate you taking the time to write an explanation of what happened. After a bit of research, I think that the idea of snow representing cocaine in The Wonderful Wizard of Oz is an urban myth based on an opposite relationship between the two (i.e. cocaine got the association from the book, not the other way around). According to this, "snow" as a colloquial term for cocaine arose from the '"magical snow", which awoke Dorothy.' There is no suggestion in any sources that I can find that Frank L. Baum had any connection with drugs and if it is anything more than a childrens' story, the book is a political allegory. As a result, I'm afraid your suggested factoid can't be added to the article as it is a fringe theory for which there are no reliable sources. Best ► Philg88 ◄ talk 05:20, 8 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Understanding "Wikified" language

Hi, and thanks for taking the time to "Wikify" the language I added to "Ballast Point".
If you don't mind, I would like to ask a question so I can better understand this; I am new to this, still learning.
The background is that in the 1800s, the European settlement of the Sydney area was in its early days. Place names were informal, and often duplicated. There were at least two, probably three places on Sydney Harbour known as "Ballast Point" then. This is what I attempted to clarify with my comment that it was another site also known by that name. The revised wording gives me the impression that there was only one place of that name in the 1800s, and it changed. So can you please indicate why the new wording is preferred, so I can adopt the best approach in future? --Gronk Oz (talk) 13:00, 8 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Gronk Oz, Good question! There is no actual semantic difference between "For another area that was also known as "Ballast Point" during the 1800s" (Your version) and "For the area known as "Ballast Point" during the 1800s" (My version). The key difference is that my version is more concise. It is also the conventional way such informational notes are usually written in Wikipedia. This is called "copyediting" in Wiki speak. If there was more than once place known by the same name at the same time then you would change it to "For other locations known as "Ballast Point" during the 1800s see PLACE, PLACE1 and PLACE2". As it stands, there is only one location so obfuscating the language in case another one pops up is unnecessary —the hatnote can be changed as and when other locations are known. Hope this helps. Best, ► Philg88 ◄ talk 13:31, 8 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Update It is automatic, there are a number of bots carrying out the task. ► Philg88 ◄ talk 06:57, 10 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
You have not added any interwikilinks in your created version, so no bot will automatically link it. You should:
 1. Link articles after creating manually;
 2. Or use deprecated link syntax, and a bot will import these sitelink to Wikidata (not recommended, because the bot only check sitelinks periodically ).

--GZWDer (talk) 09:39, 10 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Bots only checks existed sitelinks, they don't check new articles.--GZWDer (talk) 09:41, 10 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@GZWDer: Indeed, but new articles get added to the corpus of Wikidata, which is non-static, then the bots go to work. It may take longer than doing it manually but eventually it happens. In future I will check. ► Philg88 ◄ talk 09:52, 10 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I eagerly look forward to that. The map is awesome. I didn't realize you're also good at making maps. Would you be interested in creating the missing location maps for some of the Chinese provinces (Beijing, Gansu, Hunan, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, etc.)? They can potentially be used in tens of thousands of Chinese towns and villages like the ones in this template. I looked into cropping the map images from www.openstreetmap.org and adding coordinates, but my ineptitude with graphics tools makes the task too daunting. -Zanhe (talk) 18:56, 16 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Zanhe, I like text and maps - they complement each other beautifully. As for the location maps you mention, I'm not quite sure what you mean. The idea with towns and villages etc. is not to create an individual map for each location but rather to use a provincial map template in an infobox then add the coordinates for a pushpin. There is an example at Fumian District using a topographic map that I created. Is that the sort of thing you mean?
FYI there is a gallery of all my maps here. Best, ► Philg88 ◄ talk 04:55, 17 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, that's exactly what I mean. I actually wrote Fumian District using the Guangxi map, without realizing you created it, so thanks! But if you look at Category:China location map templates, quite a few provinces are missing. NordNordWest created most of the existing ones, but did not do all provinces. I remember Lieutenant of Melkor (one of his previous incarnations) requested his help a while ago, but he was too busy with other stuff. -Zanhe (talk) 05:28, 17 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@Zanhe: Hmm ... this being Wikipedia, there appear to be different interpretations of what format a location map should be in - some are topographic whilst others use the standard yellow with boundaries. The Jiangsu template (which uses a map created in 2009) is way outside existing conventions —horrible numbers ruin it, its not an SVG and adding a pusphpin would make it even uglier. Alas discussion of the map guidelines has been stalled for a year so there is no policy in place. Personally, I prefer the "yellow" variety as it's more informative. Thoughts? ► Philg88 ◄ talk 05:50, 17 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I prefer the standard yellow ones too. Yes, the current Jiangsu map looks ugly, and so are Hebei and Henan. The Shanghai map is a crop from openstreetmap.org. Better than nothing, I guess. -Zanhe (talk) 06:17, 17 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks the ISBN was  Fixed. And what about its assessment what class should I give it? Jim Carter (talk) 11:01, 18 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Once it's in the main article space you should request an assessment here rather than do it yourself. As it stands, I would say that the article is borderline B/C class, the three bulleted lists that I have pointed out to you before really need turning into prose before it could be considered a "B". In terms of importance, I would certainly rate it as top/high given the crucial role of the Early Nationalists in establishing the country. Best,  Philg88 talk 12:22, 18 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Taipei climate

That's enough. It's high time I made usage of my machine, here. "My master, Annatar the Great, bids thee welcome!" 16:47, 18 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@Lieutenant of Melkor: You've lost me :)  Philg88 talk 16:52, 18 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
All pages in my userspace with the prefix "User:Lieutenant of Melkor/Climate" have been granted indefinite semi-protection per requests in userspace. And I intend to make use of that to halt almost all possible disruption to this data. "My master, Annatar the Great, bids thee welcome!" 16:55, 18 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@Lieutenant of Melkor: Good job, but how does that solve the "rain = green" problem?  Philg88 talk 17:02, 18 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Fujian Dali Group

Thank you for the comments! I'll discuss these edits.

In regards on whether to use template:zh or template:Chinese I heard that when it's only Mandarin Pinyin and there are traditional and simplified characters (meaning three fields) then it is an either or on whether to use template:zh or Template:Chinese. But if you bring in other dialects, then one should definitely use template:Chinese. I am fine with the switch to Template:Chinese.

In regards to "In 2004 the company annually sold 7 billion yuan worth of product," which had "annually" deleted: The source sentence states: "The company currently has annual sales of CNY 7 billion (€700m)." so I had forgotten to write "As of 2004" instead of "In 2004". The source sentence meant the company habitually had sales of 7 billion yuan so I'll reword it to try to reflect that.

All of the other edits are fine. Thanks again! WhisperToMe (talk) 08:31, 19 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi WhisperToMe, thanks for the meesage. The balance between zh and Chinese is sometimes hard to call. It's really about the amount of space it takes up in the lede: "Fujian Dali Group Co., Ltd. (simplified Chinese: 福建达利集团有限公司; traditional Chinese: 福建達利集團有限公司; pinyin: Fújiàn Dálì Jítuán Yǒuxiàngōngsī)" is breathtaking long and off-putting for some readers - hence why I put it in a Chinese infobox. For a two character Chinese name, zh can be fine, even when it's populated with four (short) fields. As for "In 2004 the company annually ...", the word "annually" is redundant since you already said when, so I deleted it. If you are going to change it to "As of 2004", I'd recommend you use the As of template as it flags potentially dated information for those interested. What's next for the Missing women of China article?

Hi Philg88: I would like to find out what's holding up the move of this article from the sandbox to the main namespace. Please let me know (or please move it). Thanks. BerikG (talk) 17:19, 20 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I cannot even locate the sandbox where this article is. The next step is for two peers to provide comments on the Talk page of each article (and you signed up as a reviewer, I see). How can students comment on the talk page of this article? Of course, my request is that you either move the article from whereever it is at the moment to the main namespace or allow Yangtana to do so. Thanks.BerikG (talk) 17:52, 20 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, BerikG and thanks for the message. Draft:Missing women of China is now ready awaiting review by any editor except the author, Yangtana Li. For the reasons I've explained above and in various other places, I do not believe that the article title is appropriate and that a significant about of work is also required for its integration with associated articles before it moves to the main space. That said, the article is no longer move protected and provided it is accepted by a reviewing editor, anyone can move it. I think I should also recuse myself as a reviewer at the education assignments page given the level of my involvement in copyediting and restructuring of the article. Hi Philg88: I met some difficulties to understand what you said above. Could you help me to explain that in more simple words? Sorry for my poor English. :p You said you still think that the article title is not appropriate and that a significant about of work is required before it moves to the main space. So I'm confused with this sentence: "the article is no longer move protected and provided it is accepted by a reviewing editor, anyone can move it." Is it mean that I could move it now? or I still need to do more revisions before the move? Thanks! Yangtana Li (talk) 06:19, 21 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Yangtana Li and sorry if I confused you. 因为你写了那个条目,不允许将迁移。 不需要进行编辑,但是必须找到另一个编者帮你考核。 祝好, Philg88 talk 06:48, 21 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Philg88: Thanks for your explanation! Thanks.Yangtana Li (talk) 07:10, 21 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
