Welcome!

Hello, Lim Zhi Hang, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of your recent edits to the page Port of Singapore did not conform to Wikipedia's verifiability policy, and may have been removed. Wikipedia articles should refer only to facts and interpretations verified in reliable, reputable print or online sources or in other reliable media. Always provide a reliable source for quotations and for any material that is likely to be challenged, or it may be removed. Wikipedia also has a related policy against including original research in articles.

If you are stuck and looking for help, please see the guide for citing sources or come to the new contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask a question on your talk page. Again, welcome.  robertsky (talk) 18:18, 3 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia and copyright

Control copyright icon Hello Lim Zhi Hang, and welcome to Wikipedia. Your additions to Tupua Tamasese Lealofi IV have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are PD or compatibly licensed) it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions, the help desk or the Teahouse before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps in Wikipedia:Translation#How to translate. See also Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 23:04, 3 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Just a note, according to the blocking admin, the block was meant to be temporary for one month (which it actually was, and has now expired), and the above warning was incorrect. The text should have been: "You have been blocked from editing for a period of one month for persistent vandalism. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions..." --IamNotU (talk) 10:27, 20 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Copyright problem icon Your addition to Phahrolrazi Zawawi has been removed in whole or in part, as it appears to have added copyrighted material to Wikipedia without evidence of permission from the copyright holder. For legal reasons, Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted material, including text or images from print publications or from other websites, without an appropriate and verifiable license. All such contributions will be deleted. Information icon Hello, I'm IamNotU. I noticed that you made an edit concerning content related to a living (or recently deceased) person on Mohamed Azmin Ali, but you didn't support your changes with a citation to a reliable source, so I removed it. Wikipedia has a very strict policy concerning how we write about living people, so please help us keep such articles accurate and clear. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you! IamNotU (talk) 11:00, 20 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for November 23

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Joseph Wu, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page David Lee (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 07:44, 23 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Unnecessary italics

Hi, I noticed that you've been italicizing the word present in date ranges in numerous articles, such as: [3], [4], [5], etc., as well as the word incumbent. Do you have a particular reason for that? I don't see that there is a need for emphasis, nor any of the other reasons for using italics described in Wikipedia's Manual of Style, see MOS:ITALICS and MOS:DATERANGE. The Manual of Style should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Deviating from this style disturbs uniformity among articles. Thanks for your understanding... --IamNotU (talk) 16:35, 26 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Abbreviations

When mentioning another party or organisation in an article, you have to choose between using the full name or the abbreviation, you cant use both in the same place at the same time, that is unnecessary and purely disruptive! Vif12vf/Tiberius (talk) 11:12, 8 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Ti Lian Ker moved to draftspace

An article you recently created, Ti Lian Ker, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). Hi. Please do not change "chief minister" to "premier" if it is referring to the position before 1 March 2022.--Mike Rohsopht (talk) 10:10, 1 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Friend, maybe it's best if you try to edit the section "List of the leaders of the Democratic Action Party (since 1966)" in your Sandbox first? Sisuvia (talk) 12:50, 20 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Lim Zhi Hang I don't think "mandate" should be included in the tables for Democratic Action Party#List_of_the_leaders_of_the_Democratic_Action_Party_(since_1966). It isn't necessary and I don't think it's any useful. It should be enough for the tables to only include the date they ascended to the position and left it. I also don't think that showing how long they were or have been in office is necessary. Furthermore, I don't see the point in including Lim Kit Siang and only Lim Kit Siang's parliamentary and state legislative assembly positions. Would love to discuss this with you, thanks. An article you recently created, 2022 Democratic Action Party leadership election, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Election Date

Please provide the source which mentioned Malaysia GE15 is on 14th September 2023. If the date is unknown, then it should be left blank. Ken choo (talk) 01:16, 28 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Unsourced changes to biographies

Hello. All of these cabinet position changes you and another editor have been making to WP:BLP articles like Sun Xueling have been unsourced. The new roles also don't start until the 13th. Please don't re-add the changes without reliable sources. Thanks. Storchy (talk) 07:27, 7 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Storchy Please dont revert the confirmed and sourced changes that are going to take place. Theres nothing wrong with making these edits in advance. Please dont deny my work and contributions. Thanks. Lim Zhi Hang (talk) 07:29, 7 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Please read WP:BLP: there is definitely something wrong with making important changes like that without citing a reliable source to WP:Verify the changes. Storchy (talk) 07:31, 7 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
These changes are confirmed and sourced. If edits are not allowed to be made in advance. Then a lot of Wikipedia pages like Bongbong Marcos should not have included that he is taking office soon. Theres nothing wrong. I say it again, nothing wrong. Refer to WP:BLP again properly. If you are to do this again, I may consider further actions to protect Wikipedia from your vandalism. Lim Zhi Hang (talk) 07:35, 7 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The new changes are not sourced, that's precisely the point. Where is the source please, in Sun Xueling for example, for the new role you've repeatedly added there? Storchy (talk) 07:45, 7 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I say again, the edits are sourced and let me tell you where is the source is. It is in the Fifth Lee Hsien Loong Cabinet which it also sources the edits on relevant pages. And the sources do not need to be repeated again and again. If you want to, you are definitely welcomed to do so. Besides, the sources are not too important in the roles I have added. These are all in the news. So please, dont revert these correct changes and edits. Spend your time to add new and sourced contents on other Wikipedia pages instead. Dont waste your time in doing these nonsense. Lim Zhi Hang (talk) 07:54, 7 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
We can't add unsourced claims to an article because the source exists in another article, or "all in the news". We do have to source every significant change we make to a BLP, and not leave that dull task to other editors. If you want to simply source the changes with bare URLs from a reliable source, then I'm happy to format the references for you. Storchy (talk) 08:02, 7 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Lim Zhi Hang, you have still not added sources for your repeated, significant changes to Sun Xueling, Koh Poh Koon, Chee Hong Tat, and Rahayu Mahzam. I have not reverted these unsourced additions yet, because I hope to instead help you understand the crucial importance of reliable sources for significant claims in WP:BLP articles. I also notice that you've received warnings of being blocked from editing before, for this same problem, and for edit warring. Can we please come to an understanding on this? I genuinely want to help you. Storchy (talk) 23:20, 7 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Storchy Come on, didnt you say you want to help me? Just copy and paste the references from Fifth Lee Hsien Loong Cabinet, dont just spend your time and come to my talk page. Act and not just talk. Spend the time instead to reference and source the edits. If you dont want to, I will do so. I also notice you have repeatedly warned others on their talk pages, are you administrators? It seems that you are not but you are so troublesome. If you revert my edits, I may consider further actions. Lim Zhi Hang (talk) 03:00, 8 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Storchy You again, come on, didnt you see the references are behind the sentence "As of June 2022, her resignation from the position is pending."? Are you blind? If you carry on these nonsense, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Lim Zhi Hang (talk) 04:32, 9 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
