Jones Lang LaSalle (NYSEJLL) is a financial and professional services company specializing in real estate. It is considered the second largest publicly traded commercial real estate brokerage firm in the world, behind CB Richard Ellis[1]. The company prides itself on being the only company in its industry making it into Forbes magazine's "400 Best Big Companies in America" [2] as well as one of the most admired firms in its industry in terms of global competitiveness.[3]

Jones Lang LaSalle was formed by the 1999 merger of LaSalle Partners Incorporated and Jones Lang Wootton.[4] The former Jones Lang Wootton (JLW) had its beginning in 1783, when Richard Winstanley established business as an auctioneer in Paternoster Row, London. LaSalle Partners Incorporated was founded under the name IDC Real Estate in 1968 in El Paso.

Jones Lang LaSalle is headquartered in the Aon Center in Chicago, Illinois, where it also serves as building manager.[5]

The company has about 36,200 employees including professional and support staff, with approximately 170 offices worldwide and operates in more than 700 cities in 60 countries. Global revenue in 2008 was $2.7 billion and the firm has a global portfolio of more than 1 billion square feet under management[6][7].

Investor & Occupier Services

Jones Lang LaSalle's mainstream businesses include investor & occupier services (IOS) such as agency leasing, investment sales & acquisitions, corporate capital markets, real estate investment banking, property management, facility management, energy management, project development, valuation, research and consulting. The company's hotel advisory arm provides mainstream services specifically catered to the hotel industry. Aside from the commercial real estate industry, the company also serves the residential and government sectors[8].

LaSalle Investment Management

LaSalle Investment Management, the company's money management arm, competes with other major real estate investment managers such as ING Real Estate, TIAA-CREF, Prudential Real Estate, RREEF Alternative, Morgan Stanley, JPMorgan Asset Management, and UBS Global Real Estate [9]. Its real estate investment products and services include direct investments through separate accounts and commingled funds, as well as indirect investments in publicly traded real estate investment trusts (REITs) and other real estate securities[10].

Jones Lang LaSalle was named to Fortune magazine's list of the 100 Best Places to Work For in the U.S. in 2007 [11] and The Ethisphere Institute's World's Most Ethical Companies list in 2008.[12].
