The skyline of Singapore

This list of tallest buildings in Singapore ranks skyscrapers in Singapore by height. In Singapore, three buildings share the title for the tallest building in the country, namely UOB Plaza One, Republic Plaza and OUB Centre. These three buildings are 280 metres (920 feet) in height. OUB Centre was the tallest building outside North America from 1985 to 1988, when Bank of China Tower was completed. The three building are tied for the 70th tallest building in the world. The Buildings in CBD have a maximum height of 280m, the eastern area (Tampines, Simei, Pasir Ris, Loyang and Changi Village) have a maximum height what is allowed due to aviation reasons.[1][2][3]

Singapore's history of skyscrapers began with the 1955 completion of the 18 floor Bank of China Building.[4] A 36 floor building was completed on the same podium in 2000. Many of Singapore's high-rise buildings were built between the late 1970s till now. The building boom was due to Singapore's rapid industrialisation during the 1970s and 1980s. Most of the earlier buildings showcased brutalist architecture. The city is the site of 44 building over 150m high.

Over the last few years, there has been a sharp increase in the number of skyscrapers in the city area. Most of the new skyscrapers are located in Marina Bay, where a new downtown is planned. These include the Marina Bay Financial Centre, which includes two 245 m (804 ft). Also the There are also a number of new developments in the city's shopping hub, Orchard Road. ION Orchard and The Orchard Residences will have a 218 m (715 ft), 56 floor tower.[5] Also the 245m (804ft) Ocean Financial Centre has been approved for construction in Raffles Place. Currently, there are 5215 buildings in the city of Singapore. These include public housing flats, called HDB flats. As of July 2009[update], there are 1252 high-rise buildings under construction, in Singapore.[6]<
