LEGO Universe is an upcoming massively multiplayer online game developed by NetDevil. The release date is planned for the second half of 2010[1], delayed from original estimates of 2009[2], late November 2008[3], and mid-2008.[4]

Trailer

A trailer has been leaked showing concepts of the game. These include Character customization using the traditional Lego method, a workshop where a car is created from Lego bricks, a Lego city populated with sets from numerous different Themes, and a short theatrical battle between an eye-patched Lego minifigure and a "Darkling".

Gameplay

Lego has confirmed that Lego Universe will be cooperatively played with others to accomplish in-game tasks rather than player versus player gameplay.[5] Players will also be able to customize weapons once they reach level thirty, although the customized weapons will be slightly less powerful.

Development

The Lego Universe website has gone through three major changes. First it had just a website with a gallery, front page news, and an archive of past newsletters. A new update has been announced along with the revelation of the Lego Universe logo in June 2008's newsletter. This new update includes the launch of the Lego Universe's new website. Lego is currently allowing Lego fans to upload photos of Lego creations they have made into the Creation Lab so the Lego Universe staff will have an idea of what to include in the game. The third change has released more artwork and ideas being displayed on the different pages.

Tied to MLN

Each player's account will be linked to his My LEGO Network account. You will be able to see each others awards, equipment and player achievements[6].

Characters of Lego Universe

Eight characters have been confirmed to be featured in the game.

  • Professor Brickkeeper — An inventor who runs the Creation Lab.[7]
  • M.U.T.T. (Motorized Universal Technology Terrier) — Professor Brickkeeper's robo-dog. He is intentionally designed to be at real Lego scale.[8]
  • Captain Jack Knife — The leader of the Black Seas Barracuda, his ship is stuck on land and has not been out to sea for a long time. He is known to trade, drink root beer, and rely too much on his band of pirates.[9]
  • Numb Chuck — A ninja leader whose interests include sparring, reading, and karaoke. He often sleeps when nothing exciting is going on.[10]
  • Friendly Felix — A one-man band. A retired explorer, he lives in a public garden, regularly performing songs based on his adventuring days.[11]
  • Bob — The plain minifigure seen on the front page and in the dancing videos.
  • Buron — The dragon found on the front page and in the dragon video.

There are two more top secret characters that are revealed to people who signed up for the newsletter. The characters are a news reporter and a knight with an energy sword. lieijgfiwejogawro

Life in Lego Universe

Wonderland is in Lego Universe as one of the Lego Universe images state that in the map section, the image takes place in an area called "Wonderland". The currency of the game will be plastic, which can be used to create Lego bricks.[12]

VIP codes

On the Lego Universe main page there is a form to enter VIP codes. These codes can be found in newsletters and from events, and grant access to picture and video content.

Cost

It has been confirmed on the Lego Universe official site that Lego Universe will be based on a monthly subscription model.[13]
