About
Kanpur University officially known as Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University is located in Kanpur, INDIA. The burden on the famous Agra University was great, so it split into Agra and Kanpur universities. Established in 1966, now it has 170 affiliated colleges in 15 districts. Spreading over a campus of 264 acres, the university is booming with academic activities. The university seeks to contribute to students an education through curriculum design, the development of new courses and the application of a forward-looking and innovative teaching methodology around 500000 student per year.
Ms. Mayawati as Chief Minister had changed the name from Kanpur University to Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj University, the name given after the Maharaja of the Indian princely state of Kolhapur Shahu IV (also known as Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj) between 1884 and 1922.
