Faizabad district (Hindi: फ़ैज़ाबाद ज़िला,Urdu: ضلع فیض آباد) is one of the 71 districts of Uttar Pradesh state in northern India. Faizabad city is the administrative headquarters of this district. The district occupies an area of 2,764 km². The district had a population of 2,468,371 at the 2011 Census.

In 1975, the Avadh University was established in Faizabad city, which was later renamed as Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Avadh University. and N.D.A.U & T. this is a state agricultural university situted at Kumarganj Faizabad.

Notes

Faizabad District was a capital of Awadh region during Nawab Period.
