Your edits with Visual Editor

[edit]

Hi User:Yannaynay, your recent contributions to the page NCT (band), apparently using Visual Editor, have deleted references and sections. You also added new, unreferenced information.

At this point in time, the page is being discussed for Deletion. If it does not have improvements, it will be taken down after the discussion closes. See the tag at the top of the page. Editors are currently trying to improve the page so that it remains.

You are welcome to add referenced sources to any page, but you must take care not to delete other important references and information. I recommend that you do it slowly. Perhaps one edit at a time. I will revert your edits to correct all the deletions you caused. Then you may try to fix sentences or grammar or anything you want to. But remember to be careful and to add your own references to the information you add - if it is not already represented by current references on the page, where you may add it. Thanks and good luck.--Bonnielou2013 (talk) 01:53, 30 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Bonnielou2013, I'm sorry for any misunderstandings that my edit might have caused. I know that the page is being discussed for deletion, and I am also trying to improve the page as I want it to stay. (See my comment on the articles for deletion page. Per the addition of unreferenced material, I guess you mean the bit of info about SR14/15B- as I said in the comment I think this important which is why I added it in. But yeah I should have found some citations for that.)
I didn't actually delete any sections: I moved the filmography section to after the discography section, and adjusted some of the other section titles. But I'll try and edit more slowly next time. I know it can be a problem when there's an edit clash, which is what happened here; while I was trying to merge our edits, I missed out a couple of citations that you added in at the same time, and I was adding those back in afterwards. I did remove a couple of citations from Soompi, which is not regarded as a reliable source. Again, sorry for the misunderstanding, I was genuinely trying to improve the article and not trying to delete references or anything. Yannaynay (talk) 02:25, 30 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi User:Yannaynay, we were just typing here at the same time - my edit here was lost. I came back to tell you that I saw your vote on the Deletion page. And to talk about the Soompi references. I already had taken down one and one for Allkpop, but replaced them with a proper citation. I'm still looking to replace the others, don't feel that information is needed anyway, but I don't like to take other's work down totally without informing them. And rather than having a bad reference - no reference is worse.

You did delete the section with references on their appearance on The Show, which got posted back with the revert. And the Filmography move you did placed that, improperly, below the Note Section, I believe.

I was not notified of any edit save problem earlier - so I think nothing was lost that way on the NCT page. I try to prepare my changes in Sandbox - then switch them over quickly. Also I have not used Visual Editor - but have had some other problems with minor edits that editors did with it. I notified them when the edits were not correct and changed them back. I prefer the tedious, but safe manual way to edit. It's hard for others to pour through large sections of edits, like you do with the Editor.....and try to figure out what changes were actually made. Plus, the edit summary that we're required to do, is not detailed then.

I just want to improve the NCT page some, and get back to work that really interests me, so I won't be hanging around it to worry about all the problems that come up later - if it is saved from Deletion. Thanks for your response, I know we're both working for the same goal here! hahaha! like a K-pop page is super serious! what?!! And this provided me the chance to make a new friend, like you! Talk to you later!--Bonnielou2013 (talk) 02:42, 30 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi User:Yannaynay, (I'm just going to put this note here - even though it's on a different subject) I just looked over your edits on Dean's page. It looks great, I just recovered the commas after the footnotes, though - only thing I saw to change. I have a tendency for long sentences and lots of footnotes, so you probably don't run into the problem much in your editing. I observed your use of the single parentheses ' for certain words....I've never known how to use them and will try to incorporate that into my writing. I felt like I prepared this page of Dean's as if it was one of those disaster reports, like a hurricane. I was getting ready to go to SXSW, and he had just became notable enough with the late announcement of his performance there and a nomination for the Korean Music Awards to deserve a page; his EP release followed soon after. So, I was adding on a day by day basis, when my time allowed. Your work-over looks good! This baby is ready to take wings and fly! Like the NCT page that has loads of editors working on it, I think the number of editors contributing to any page, shows its worth. I'm glad you enjoy proofreading - it's not my strong point. I like the research better. Thanks and talk to you later!--Bonnielou2013 (talk) 03:46, 7 May 2016 (UTC) P.S. - looking over I had to make some more changes which you can see in Edit Summary (performance at SXSW was March, not Feb, that's when announcement was), (2015 section's 2nd paragraph listed events that also occurred in 2016 so I moved the Sketchbook performance to 2016) - in general, I think it's safer to mostly list the year along with the month - as editors shift things around. Plus, I don't know if it is necessary, but I think it's better to attach a reference to every sentence, so I re-attached some sentences and re-added multiple ref. in some spots. That way if editors want to move the information around, or add things in between - each sentence keeps it's reference. This is just caution on my part. The bots caught some glitches, too - expected with big edits like yours. (I came back here and re-worded and signed after some more work! You might catch some more mistakes or needed changes. Your re-working still looks much better than before. Thanks again.--Bonnielou2013 (talk) 05:34, 7 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Bonnielou2013- thanks for your careful checking and for fixing the footnotes thing. Commas before footnotes is noted. I tend to use '-' for unfamiliar terms that aren't direct quotes and "-" for quotes- MOS:QUOTEMARKS might clarify this. Also thank you for adding the info to the page in the first place, I'm glad you were there at SXSW! Yannaynay (talk) 12:59, 7 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
