Is it possible to get an external links search limited to article space links only, correspondingly, is it possible to get an article space only search for interwiki links to news? problems with photo on foreign wikipedia

    Patricia Cornwell (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Hi I work for Patricia Cornwell and I need to change her picture that is shown on many foreign wiki's http://ro.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fi%C8%99ier:Patricia_Cornwell_2011_b.jpg On the english version of the page there is a button to upload a new image but on this page there is not and I'm not sure what the next step is to get this changed. Can anyone point me in the correct direction please? I would like the US picture to link to all foreign countries if that is possible. Thanks for your help. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Peppermint62 (talkcontribs) 00:02, 22 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The photo is actually hosted on Commons, which is the right place to host a picture usable on multiple projects.
Go to the Commons page here and you will see the button to upload a new version.--SPhilbrick(Talk) 00:29, 22 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Clarification - I thought you had uploaded the original image but were now trying to upload a newer version - I now see that this isn't the case, so do not follow my advice to upload over the prior image. The image you want to use apparently has been uploaded, so it should be moved to Commons, along with an email to OTRS verifying the permission.--SPhilbrick(Talk) 11:27, 22 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
What do you mean by "I need to change her picture"? Is there a legal problem with the current picture or do you just prefer another picture? If there is no legal problem and the new picture isn't an improved version from the same occasion 1 April 2011 in Paris then you should upload a new picture under a new name. Editors of each wiki can choose which picture to use. Subjects or people working for them don't control Wikipedia content. PrimeHunter (talk) 00:48, 22 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
In addition to the other answers, please read the guidance for editing with a conflict of interest RudolfRed (talk) 00:51, 22 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Thank you for your help. I will upload the different image, Can you tell me how to find the editor of the wiki itself? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Peppermint62 (talkcontribs) 01:46, 22 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Anyone may edit Wikipedia, so there is no one "editor". Can you clarify your question? RudolfRed (talk) 03:21, 22 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict) What wiki? Do you mean the encyclopedia article about Patricia Cornwell? Hundreds of people have contributed to that article on English Wikipedia, and likely hundreds more in various other languages. If you want a complete list of all of the people who have contributed, you can click the "History" tab at the top of the paqe while reading the article. If you have suggestions for improving the article, you can do so at the "Talk:" page of the article. Simply click "talk" while viewing the article, and suggestions can be made there. --Jayron32 03:23, 22 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I believe that Peppermint62 is interested in replacing the image of Patricia Cornwell that is being used on foreign language Wikipedias (File:Patricia Cornwell 2011 b.jpg at Commons) with the image that is currently being used on the English Wikipedia (File:Patriciacornwell.jpg). It would be necessary to copy the English Wikipedia image to Commons, but first the copyright status of the image should be assessed. It looks as if TeaDrinker advised Peppermint in 2009 of the procedure for licensing the photo. Gobōnobo + c 07:55, 22 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Comment: Suppose the is no chance in expecting Peppermint62 to donate to the WMF in return for your help in getting her salary paid? At this rate we will put Yellow page, Craigslist and all other similar websites out of business --Aspro (talk) 18:39, 22 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Everyone, I want to thank you all for the honest feedback, I am indeed a COI editor and have been watching the English version of Patricia Cornwell's page for years and I have only made edits related to legal issues, insults, typos and the photo. I do realize that many people have edited the page but one of the feedback comments suggested that each wiki page had a specific admin editor which I had never heard of before so I asked.... I have submitted an email for approval to upload the photo to the Commons to see if I can change it on the other pages. I've learned a lot from your feedback and I have indeed made a donation to WMF. Thank you again. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Peppermint62 (talkcontribs) 13:53, 23 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

    disambiguity page

what do I do if I want to write a disambiguity page, about a name shared by several people, two of the characters for example. both have the same profession, born the same year?--89.249.2.53 (talk) 06:33, 22 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You can add their death years, if applicable (e.g. John Smith (1842-1899) and John Smith (1842-1901)). You could also use their middle names (e.g. John Augustus Smith and John Octavius Smith). To which two people are you referring? Yunshui  07:08, 22 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

    Help with photo copyright status

Hi guys, could anyone help me on how to provide a valid and suitable copyright tag for a photo I uploaded to wikimedia commons. The photo is found here... File:Project Triangle - Homotopia 2009.jpg I'm totally confused by the copyright information you have to provide but I believe this is free to use in the pblic domain... Thankyou Richie wright1980 (talk) 13:31, 22 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The creator of the photograph is listed as Tim Brunsden. You would need to supply evidence that he has released the picture into the public domain if you believe this to be the case. The original source does not appear to indicate this. Yunshui  13:38, 22 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, the image was found here http://project-triangle-film.blogspot.co.uk/2009/09/weve-arrived.html It does not state anything about being copyright so I assumed it was OK to use... Richie wright1980 (talk) 13:42, 22 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

As a rule of thumb, it's better to assume that things are subject to copyright unless you have specific information to the contrary. You could go to the trouble of emailing the photographer to request he release the picture under a suitable licence, but I'm not sure the picture is even necessary - the article Homotopia Liverpool (festival) is liberally illustrated with images already, overloaded with them, in fact, and many of them don't have any direct relevance to the festival. It would be preferable to include the information about Project Triangle in the text, and get rid of the picture entirely, in my view. Yunshui  13:48, 22 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Many thanks, took your advice, added text and removed photo. Richie wright1980 (talk) 13:59, 22 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

    Footnotes

Greetings, I wonder if you could help me with the herv referencing system. I need a simple description of what to do which the wiki pages I've looked at don't provide, they're full of explanation and not enough description. See here User:Keith-264/sandbox ("Templates 2") for my attempts. Is there a simple a, b, c description somewhere that you can direct me to? The referencing I've been using is quite laborious and often doesn't compare with that of other editors, introducing inconsistency. I thought that the herv system would help because I have been making lots of references to single sources, eg ten page references to the same book. Thank you.Keith-264 (talk) 14:13, 22 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

    Or perhaps Wikipedia:Parenthetical referencing?--ukexpat (talk) 14:54, 22 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
No help at all I'm afraid, thanks for trying. The examples on the page I've linked above show that I've got one method sorted out but not the other. What I need is for someone to look and describe what I need to change as the referencing guides are no help at all. I'll unwatch this page so If someone has any other suggestions please add them to my sandbox.Keith-264 (talk) 18:08, 22 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I believe this edit should have fixed the problem; I closed one ref and fixed the original refname parameter on another. Unfortunately I'm now offline until Tuesday, so if this isn't what you're after, revert my edit and let someone else take a look. Yunshui  23:03, 22 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I want my deleted page deleted entirely

    Robert S. Prattico

I created a page "Robert S. Prattico" to honor a poet who had been recently published. It contained copyright registration - which places the work in the library of congress. That is notable. still it was deleted.

I google searched this poet's name and your wiki page that said that the page was deleted came up. This is disrespectful to the poet. I would like the page that said that the page was deleted to be removed immediately.

It is not fair that the page cannot exist due to your guidelines, but still exist as a "page that was deleted"....

please delete the entire "this page was deleted" page off your site. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Exitblur (talkcontribs) 14:13, 22 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You are probably referring to the deletion log - I am afraid that we cannot delete that, but the next time Google's indexing spiders do their thing, its index should be updated to remove it from Google's search results.--ukexpat (talk) 14:34, 22 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The deletion log can not be removed, however no one should see from the outside. Grter1 (talk) 04:56, 23 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I suspect that Google's search results still show the article as existing, but when you click on the link, it takes you to the redlinked page above, which shows the deletion log for that page.--ukexpat (talk) 14:07, 23 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. It is still insulting and not good for the character/online visibility of the Author for people who are searching for him because of his published book to see a deleted page on wikipedia. It is not fair that it has to remain in deletion and that when people search for his name and/or books, it comes to a wiki's deleted site. I petition that it be removed from wikipedia entirely. I would have never tried to create a page for him on wikipedia if I knew that his work would be treated this way. Please remove all trace of "Robert S. Prattico" from your site.

Presumably you're talking about the whole "02:36, 20 June 2012 The Bushranger (talk | contribs | block) deleted page Robert S. Prattico (A7: Article about a real person, which does not indicate the importance or significance of the subject)" page that now is there instead of the article, and I'm afraid there is no way to remove that page, there is nothing we can do about it. Perhaps you should have read our policies about notability and verifiability and some of the many help pages about creating your first article before creating it in the first place--Jac16888 Talk 12:38, 25 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

my friend's great great grand mother just died in Nigeria few days ago and she was 162years. which makes her the oldest woman to have lived on earth? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Age162 (talkcontribs) 14:18, 22 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

    Er....no, note the word "verified"....--ukexpat (talk) 14:35, 22 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict) The oldest known person whose age can be reliably verified died in 1997 at the age of 122 years - see oldest person. So if your friend's great great grandmother lived to be 162 years old this would make her older than this record by an incredible margin of 40 years. With all respect to your friend and their family, most people will be very sceptical about such an astonishing claim. Gandalf61 (talk) 14:44, 22 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It's also far better at some languages than others. For example it's pathetic at translating Japanese.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 21:35, 22 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Note also that it is not reliable per se. Citing a Google Translated version of a page on de.wikipedia as a source is still considered a circular ref. Google Translate can be used very effectively (even with Japanese in my experience) but you have to be aware of its vagaries. I find it works best to use more than one auto-translator in parallel. With Japanese, for example, I use three. -Thibbs (talk) 21:53, 22 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Okay guys, we are getting a bit off topic here. Electriccatfish2 (talk) 22:01, 22 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I often translate German articles to English, but the aforementioned one has too less in-line citations, so probably won't do that.--GoPTCN 08:37, 23 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Reference syntax at Mylène Farmer discography

Hi. I noticed the following reference syntax used on the Mylène Farmer discography article:

    <ref name="Royer345">[[#Royer|Royer, 2008]], p. 345.</ref>

What is the effect of the "#"? Is there a different/better way to code this reference so that it is possible to determine more about the source?
Thanks in advance for any assistance that can be provided. GFHandel   23:29, 22 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The # is used for a wikilink to something that's in the same article in which the link appears—that is, it's equivalent to the link Mylène Farmer discography#Royer that would be used in another article. (For instance, if I wanted to link to the thread on this page immediately above this one, I could create a link of the form [[#page translation|the page-translation thread]], and it would appear as the page-translation thread.) In the case of Mylène Farmer discography, it takes the reader to the entry in the "References" section that gives the full bibliographic information for the book that's cited in short form in the "Notes" section. See Help:Shortened footnotes for more information about this style of referencing. Deor (talk) 00:07, 23 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

    American Jews

Should you not include Alan Arkin, the actor? You have his son under this heading — Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.24.239.170 (talk) 05:36, 23 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure which article you're referring to, since American Jews does not list any of the Arkin family. But, if you do find an error or omission in an article, you can raise the issue on that article's talk page. RudolfRed (talk) 05:45, 23 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I'm pretty sure this is about Category:American Jews, which Adam, but not Alan, appears in. I never know with these categories whether they belong if the person's religion/ethnic background is not at the heart of what they're about, so I'm not going to add it (nor am I opposed to it). But it always seems a bit strange to me. I have no idea, to pick an example at random, if Clint Eastwood is Catholic or Presbyterian, or... and I think it would be somewhat odd if he was in any category like that because I have no association with religion for him, though I vaguely suspect he is from some Christian background. In the same way, I suppose I vaguely knew Alan Arkin was Jewish, but it would never come to mind as an identifier. I've seen lots of Alan Arkin Films and I viscerally think of him more as Puerto Rican because of Popi.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 07:54, 23 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I have no knowledge of the Arkin family, but it's entirely possible that both implied "classifications" are correct. "Jewishness" in the ethnic rather than religious sense is commonly taken to be inherited from one's mother, so for example if I, a male non-Jew (being probably only 1/8 Jewish, from my father's side) were to marry a Jew (not an unlikely scenario), our children would be considered Jewish. {The poster formerly known as 87.81.230.195} 90.197.66.109 (talk) 10:42, 23 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
    • The categorization of Jews is a thorny issue being discussed on the BLP notice board right now. My best advice is to avoid it altogether. The talk page for Bob Dylan has a long discussion about it as well as many other BLP articles.--Canoe1967 (talk) 12:12, 23 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This sandbox is in the article namespace. Either move this page into your userspace, or remove the {{User sandbox}} template.

I moved my sandbox to "user: Jeff Rollason" then realised to should have been to (article) Jeff Rollason. The article is published but it is headed with

"This sandbox is in the article namespace. Either move this page into your userspace, or remove the {{User sandbox}} template."

I have not figured out how to remove my first "move" to "user: Jeff Rollason". I also cannot find the "{{User sandbox}} template", that is: any template under user jeffrollason

Any suggestions? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jeffrollason (talkcontribs) 06:44, 23 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Looks like you're fixed. I tagged the leftover User:Jeff Rollason for deletion. Your article (Jeff Rollason) is likely to be deleted though. A published game that's received independent reviews in major publications, or the company that made it, might be notable enough for a Wikipedia article, but only if it's gotten significant coverage. The person doesn't have said coverage, as far as I can tell. You should have a look at WP:42 and WP:Notability for the rules about what warrants a Wikipedia article. According to the documentation at Template:Cite web, "work" refers to the title of the website and is rendered in italics in the citation. "Title" refers to the title of the individual web page and is rendered in quote marks. Think of the example of an individual article in a book which is a collection of such articles. Ed Begley

Ed Begley played Brady in the original Broadway production, but did not appear in the movie. Frederic March played the role on screen. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.96.225.234 (talk) 07:52, 23 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

See our articles Inherit the Wind (1960 film) and Inherit the Wind (1965 film). Fredric March did indeed play Brady on the big screen in the former, but Ed Begley played the role in the latter - a TV film - reprising his Broadway stage performance. There is ample evidence online to confirm both performances. Karenjc 08:26, 23 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

    Redlinks unlikely to be created

Template:Asia topic is used on articles such as List of islands of Japan. On a page like List of islands of Japan the template contains a number of redlinks which in my opinion are unlikely to be created, like for example List of islands of Mongolia, List of islands of Bhutan or List of islands of Christmas island. What could be done about this? -- Toshio Yamaguchi (tlkctb) 12:29, 23 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Whether or not an article will be created on a topic is usually a matter of opinion and so I usually leave these in place unless I have a strong reason to suspect that nobody will ever write an article on the topic. In this case, I believe you have a very strong reason to suspect that land-locked countries and single-island territories will never have a an article created to spell out a list of their nonexistent islands. Even if they were to change borders or to conquer other islands or something, Wikipedia concerns itself with the present and not the future per WP:CRYSTAL. So feel free to remove these from the template. -Thibbs (talk) 12:43, 23 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
The problem is, I don't know how to remove them, due to the the links being created automatically. Is there a way to hide those links? Perhaps I am just mamooaming here, not sure. -- Toshio Yamaguchi (tlkctb) 12:54, 23 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
The problem is that the Template:Asia topic is automatically used for a lot of things with an argument so that with "Cuisine" it becomes a template with links to the Cuisine of all of the countries and with Parks it becomes links to the Parks of all of the countries. I don't know if there are enough countries that would be removed that it would make sense to make an islands specific template or not... But List of Islands of Mongolia is pretty funny...Naraht (talk) 12:59, 23 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Yepp and per WP:REDNOT those redlinks shouldn't be there. Now one could argue those redlinks do no harm, but that seems to be a poor rationale to keep something which is pretty useless. -- Toshio Yamaguchi (tlkctb) 13:07, 23 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I think the best move might be to create a mirror template for these "list of islands of X" articles but make this template require manual additions rather than automatic additions. And of course don't add countries like Mongolia to this manual template. As Naraht points out, there may not be enough countries with islands to warrant the creation of a specific exclusion. -Thibbs (talk) 14:44, 23 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Another option that Wikipedia wishes to encourage is for people to boldly improve articles on their own. This can be accomplished simply by clicking on one of the several "edit" buttons located on every page and then altering the text and clicking the "Save page" button at the bottom. If you would like to contribute to an article on the topic of yourself, however, you should read through Wikipedia's rules on Conflict of Interest before beginning. -Thibbs (talk) 15:03, 23 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I'd like to thank you on asking about improving the article in this way. The best way is probably to go to the talk page for the article Talk:Martin Gillingham, and start adding the facts with a place they can be referenced to.Naraht (talk) 22:29, 23 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

    Page View Counter

A friend and I were researching Alan Turing this morning after viewing Google's homepage featuring the Turing Machine. In the course of our research, we happened across Entscheidungsproblem. After barely understanding the article, we had two ideas that might be useful for your site.

    1. Include a page view counter recording how many times a specific page has been visited. (We have to think Entscheidungsproblem isn't very popular).

    2. It could be interesting/ amusing to have a "Dumb it Down" button to put complex language/ ideas into a simpler format for the non-Alan Turing's of the world. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.135.235.58 (talk) 14:26, 23 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Page view counter already exists - go to the history section and look for 'revision history statistics'. As for 'dumbing down' the language, you could take a look here. -Cntras (talk) 15:08, 23 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Cntras, correct me if I'm wrong, but I think "revision history statistics" only provides edit information, not views. There could be more (perhaps many more) views than edits. Cresix (talk) 16:19, 23 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I think he may have meant "Page view statistics" (also located under "view history"). -Thibbs (talk) 16:55, 23 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I meant the page view statistics tab. -Cntras (talk) 07:10, 24 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

    Artistic depictions

Most Wikipedia articles about general things like Music or Mathematics feature artistic drawings related to the articles. This is extremely philosophical and unfriendly to readers. Your opinions? 123.24.99.159 (talk) 16:24, 23 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This page is designed to help editors who have questions concerning how to use Wikipedia. If you would like to propose that drawings should be removed from all music- and mathematics-related articles then you can do so here where other editors will be able to discuss your proposal. Good luck. -Thibbs (talk) 16:53, 23 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Global user info - Hidden Level?

Haven't found any useful info about this: Can someone point me to any documentation that describes what "Hidden Level" means that appears under "Global user info" in the "Global user manager" special pages [1]? Otherwise, any information about this would be helpful: Curious as to what it means, why it's there, what function and purpose does it serve, who can ask for it, what the different levels are and associated privileges, and who has authority to change it? Nayko Island

    Dear Sir/Madam

I have set up the page Nayko Island and there is a message on the page saying it is going to be deleted but I don't understand why. I am not Danielle Watson but I do have her permission to set up pages about her and her book. Please can someone tell me why the page is going to be deleted? Is there anyway the page can be kept?

Kind regards — Preceding unsigned comment added by Maddie6130 (talkcontribs) 19:48, 23 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Click the button in the notice to contest the deletion. However, since you have provided anything in the article about why the subject is important. You might want to start by working on the page in your sandbox, and then after it is ready move it to mainspace. WP:YFA will help. RudolfRed (talk) 19:54, 23 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
See WP:CSD#Articles, criterion A7 for the reason for proposed deletion. Essentially, the notability of the subject has not been established with reliable sources. Additionally, if you are in any way affiliated with the subject, you are strongly discouraged from editing articles related to the subject; see WP:COI and WP:AUTOBIOGRAPHY. See Wikipedia:Village pump (technical)#MediaWiki 1.20wmf5 deployment complete. It looks like the upper case will return. It isn't random. Languages are in lower case if that's the normal way to write them in that language, but the mix of upper and lower case looks bad. PrimeHunter (talk) 22:32, 23 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

    reference list column

    Resolved
I added a {{dead link}} tag to one of the references at Chetniks. When I did this, the reference I tagged gets split in a rather ugly way between the two columns. The date for reference 64 (Holocaust photo) has the year and the dead link tag in the second column. Is there a way to keep the entire reference in the first column and have the second column start with reference 65? RudolfRed (talk) 02:38, 24 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Two questions: Watchlisting sections and (separately) random pages

Two questions, forgive me if they have been answered before:

    1. I know I can watchlist a page, but can I watchlist a certain section of a page? Say a section I am interested in AN/I or BLPN?
    2. My browser is currently configured to bring up a random WP article upon launch, but is there a URL I can insert as my homepage that will, not only bring up a random article, but also random talk/user/noticeboard/etc. pages? Thanks in advance. Quinn SUNSHINE 04:18, 24 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
In regards to you first question, only if the page structure uses transcluded subpages for each section. You can watchlist the subpages such as at WP:AFD. There is no way to do it on most pages that are not structured that way, such as the example pages you mentioned. I'm not aware of an scripts that would do it either. Dunno about your second question. Monty845 04:34, 24 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
There are URLs that will bring up a random talk page, but it is a seperate function from finding a random article, I don't think you can have one page that returns either a random article or a random talk page. See WP:RAN for the links that bring up the different types of random pages. RudolfRed (talk) 04:48, 24 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

In some Indian school college related articles we face regular problems that people include non-notable, unsourced entries. I have to fight regularly to clean up "notable people" lists. I requested an RFC here: Talk:Ballygunge_Government_High_School#Notable_alumni_section.21. But, I am interested to use this RFC for all similar disputes (that means in many articles). Can you suggest me how shall I use it? Shall I move a copy of it to somewhere else (eg. talk/RFC)? In addition can you add your opinion in talk please? --Tito Dutta 13:21, 24 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Need help to modify Infobox template

Hello, I'm looking to modify Template:Infobox diplomatic mission to make some important changes. I'd be glad if someone told me how to do it or would be better if someone did it for me ;) . The changes I'm looking for are:

    1. Bolding of the labels - currently its not in bold, and it looks quite awkward.
    2. Option to choose between the label "Ambassador" and "Consul General" - Consulates General do not have Ambassadors, so this change would be appropriate.

Copyright status of side box art photo?

Hi there, I have a question about a legal "grey area" if you will with regards to image licensing. I want to take a photograph of the games in the Final Fantasy series because I have quite a few of them and I think it would be cool to see all the box shots on the Final Fantasy article. Keep in mind the photo would be for aesthetic / additional information purposes and would not be essential to the page. So the photo would have to be free use GFDL/CC/PD. Anyways, I'm wondering if a photo of the sides of the games would qualify as free use or if the side labels are considered copyrighted? They are all simple graphics - just the name of the game in a relatively standard font, plus some coloring effects. Perhaps the most intricate design is for X-2, which has a pink gradient on the side but no actual artwork.

My intuition is that these will be fine and licensing won't be a problem. Ultimately I could recreate these side labels in Illustrator using simply text effects (although taking a photo would be several dozen times faster). Any thoughts on this? This "unsigned" bla, bla, bla...

    Hi

There is something damn funny when I edit talk pages and I am to sign it, I get fx.: "LFOlsnes-Lea 21:01, 24 June 2012 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by LFOlsnes-Lea (talk • contribs)" with the strange and awkward "Preceding unsigned comment added by LFOlsnes-Lea (talk • contribs)". This is clearly an insult to me, that I'm supposed to tolerate having this "tailing" me like this, as if somebody is writing behind my back or supposedly, "I'm writing in my unconsciousness". Can you, please, make it GO AWAY??? I would be most grateful!

Best wishes, LFOlsnes-Lea 04:34, 25 June 2012 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by LFOlsnes-Lea (talkcontribs)

Hi there. Perhaps you already know, but a bot inserts those little notes. We do it so different comments are properly attributed to the right people. If you don't mind me asking, why do you prefer not to attach your name to your comments? If you're interested in going anonymous, you can log out and your IP address will be recorded (to be fair, that will indicate your general location but at least it won't be tied to your name or online identity). CaseyPenk (talk) 04:38, 25 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Presumably because you're signed in as User:LFOlsnes-Lea. There's a bot (User:SineBot) that runs around looking for unsigned comments added to talk pages, and signs them for you. If you're not LFOlsnes-Lea, hit the "Log out" button in the upper right corner of the window, and sign in with your correct account. Or if you are not signed in, SineBot will sign your posts with your IP address. Normally you should sign your posts with four tildes ("~~~~"), and you'll get whatever signature you've configured for your account. Rwessel (talk) 04:45, 25 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
And there are ways to ask SineBot to not do his thing - see the bot's user page for more details. Rwessel (talk) 04:46, 25 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
(This gets written a second time "because of edit conflict" forcing me to write this twice.) See, I sign with 4 tildes and still get the bot(tie) with the "unsigned" comment. This seems strange, almost as if the system doubts that I sign it! How can this be??? (With 4 tildes in.) That is, sometimes seen, sometimes I get the extra "unsigned" and sometimes not. But alright, while some people may like a bit of "programming humour", please, don't bite me for it in the future! Thanks for help. Cheers! LFOlsnes-Lea 04:52, 25 June 2012 (UTC)

Hey there, and thanks for all your hard work on the article. You can see when those tags were added at this diff a while back, before your recent edits. You can go ahead and remove the tags at the top of the article if you feel they no longer apply - you have just as much right to do so as anyone else! External / interwiki links search

Is it possible to get an external links search limited to article space links only, correspondingly, is it possible to get an article space only search for interwiki links to news? The context is scoping a potential large scale reliability problem. Fifelfoo (talk) 05:25, 25 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
