There are various modes of transportation available in Eluru and its region. It includes auto rickshaws, bicycles to mass transit systems - such as buses and trains.

Roadways

Eluru Mini-Bypass

The traffic uses bypass(NH-5), GNT road and Mini-Bypass roads. The expansion of Mini-Bypass road 10-kilometre (6.2 mi) into 4-Lanes is currently under planning, which connects nearby suburban/rural areas. There are couple of highways that passes through the city connecting Eluru to major cities in India.

The GNT Road is a 15-kilometre (9.3 mi), Six-lane road(4+2) and Bypass road (NH-16) 20-kilometre (12 mi)[1][2] serves major portion of traffic in Eluru, whereas Bypass road is going to be made into 10-lane (6+4) which makes traffic ease between Eluru and Vijayawada.[3]

Two and three wheelers

Auto rickshaws have dominated the streets in the city as compared to the city buses and other modes of transport. APSRTC is going to introduced new city services to the city.

The bus transport is a major way of transportation in Eluru, its suburban and rural regions. The common city buses for the general public are operated by government. Many busses are operated between Eluru New bus station and Eluru Old bus station. Eluru is the regional headquarters of the state run APSRTC. It runs suburban (includes Palle Velugu for rural areas), CNG busses and long distance services in the state as well as inter state services. The main bus terminus is located in the south-western part of the city.

Train transit

Trains are a common mode of transportation in Eluru and its surroundings. There are many local railway stations to serve the needs of suburban and rural regions. Eluru is the main railway station of South Central Railway zone[4] in the south central region.[5] Government is planning to run more Suburban trains between Vijayawada-Eluru-Rajahmundry.

Powerpet and Vatluru are other railway stations which are connected to the city and will ease to travel passengers towards Vijayawada and Rajahmundry via passenger services. The city of Eluru has 5 satellite stations. They are :
