CSD A1 criteria

Hi, I have removed a couple of your WP:CSD#A1 tags, because the articles had sufficient context to understand what they were about. Articles were Amador Bueno and Simon Dodd. There needs to be quite a bit less before they qualify for A1. Cheers Kevin (talk) 04:13, 16 June 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the correction. Much appreciated, Leonard^Bloom (talk) 07:07, 16 June 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Magnetism fig1.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Magnetism fig1.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:16, 17 June 2008 (UTC)

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to make constructive contributions to Wikipedia, at least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to List of largest buildings in the world, did not appear to be constructive and has been reverted or removed. Please use the sandbox for any test edits you would like to make, and take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Also, get into the habit of reading before editing. For instance, look at your edit and scroll down to the bottom. Does that look right to you? No? How about my edit? If you absolutely must ameliorate user talk pages, may I recommend you use this one, which happens to deserve to be thusly adorned. 86.56.122.190 (talk) 17:51, 17 June 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for sticking up for my on the Alan Cabal AfD. If you look at any of my previous interactions at AfD (especially he more recent), you'll see my bludgeoning and abuse at consensus' where my fairly inclusionist views are rejected. Oh well; my own damn fault, 'shouldn't be so stubborn. To tie this rant up, thanks for sharing the same views. NOTE: I recently changed my sig, so, in those AfDs, my sig is "Leonard^Bloom". Much appreciated, and happy editing, ♌β(uh oh. someone's mad) 19:21, 25 June 2008 (UTC)

Hi. Thanks for getting in touch. I've looked at the two AfDs that you linked above and I felt I was unable to support you in either, though some of the material could be used in the parent articles. I favour including as much information on Wikipedia as possible - however, I also favour placing that information in the most appropriate place where it will assist the reader. Stub orphans tend not to be useful - though the same information placed in the context of a parent article could be very illuminating. And I prefer your Leonard^Bloom sig to the new squiggle! regards SilkTork *YES! 11:01, 26 June 2008 (UTC)

I'll put in a good word on your behalf the next time I run into the Mayan Gods. They're coming back in 2012 to eat humanity, or at least the humans that don't smoke cigarettes. Re: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Taser controversy

Hi Leonard - just a friendly reminder of this, especially the line: Non-admin closure is not appropriate [if the] non-admin has demonstrated a potential [...] lack of impartiality, by having expressed an opinion in the deletion debate. This may be only an essay rather than policy, but it's still good advice to follow. Grutness...wha? 07:04, 28 June 2008 (UTC)

Hi Leonard^Bloom. Would you consider reversing your closure and allowing an uninvolved admin to close this AfD? As I disclosed at the AfD, I am involved in a lengthy content dispute (a large portion of Talk:Taser), including concerns regarding the Taser controversy article. I feel that any deviations from policy could weaken this AfD as an indicator of consensus. Thanks. Flatscan (talk) 18:37, 28 June 2008 (UTC)
Hi Leonard, again as per this, I think it would also be a good idea if you reverted your closure of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Connecticut Gay Men's Chorus and let an admin close it. The "delete" votes were not without merit, and I think an uninvolved admin should weigh it out. Thanks much. Paul Erik (talk)(contribs) 22:30, 28 June 2008 (UTC)

Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:HHead-assittant-housercrop.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Sdrtirs (talk) 11:40, 28 June 2008 (UTC)

Wikimedia Commons

Thank you for uploading images/media to Wikipedia! There is, however, another Wikimedia Foundation project called Wikimedia Commons, a central media repository for all free media. In future, please upload media there instead (see m:Help:Unified login). That way, all of the other language Wikipedias can use them too, as well as our many sister projects. This will also allow our visitors to search for, view and use our media in one central location. If you wish to move previous uploads to Commons, see Wikipedia:Moving images to the Commons (you may view images you have previously uploaded by going to your user contributions on the left and choosing the 'image' namespace from the drop down box). Please note that non-free content, such as images claimed as fair use, cannot be uploaded to the Wikimedia Commons. Help us spread the word about Commons by informing other users, and please continue uploading!--OsamaK 07:34, 29 June 2008 (UTC)

You reverted my edit to Genetics that removed another anonymous IP's disruptive additions to the article. I'm trying to keep the article in good condition as it will be on the front page July 12. Trust me, CSD is a highly subjective endeavour. I know admins who delete full-length articles that go online with excellent academic and media references. If you think your CSD is justified, take it to AfD and share the fun. From what I see of your CSD tagging, you are more than fine. Thanks! Ecoleetage (talk) 21:26, 7 July 2008 (UTC)
It appears your CSD instinct was correct -- the article was deleted in the AfD process. It took a bit of time, but you were proven correct! Thanks! Ecoleetage (talk) 04:18, 14 July 2008 (UTC)

Jones & Bartlett

FYI, I removed the speedy tag from Jones & Bartlett, because though I agree that the stub is in appalling shape at the moment, it's something that can easily be fleshed out. If you check the "Whats linked here" on the page, you'll see that it is already being linked to from multiple articles, as it is a publishing house that frequently publishes reliable sources. So I'd like to give it a bit more time to expand? If it stays in its "one line" form, I agree it's not much good to Wikipedia, but I'm confident it will grow. --Elonka 00:08, 9 July 2008 (UTC)

Lucius Calpurnius Piso Frugi

Hi, I've noticed your move of article Lucius Calpurnius Piso Frugi (consul 133 BC) to Lucius Calpurnius Piso Frugi (Roman consul). However, I think that using the first form is more common through articles describing Roman consuls and is also more informative. Also all existing links regarding this consul were linked to the first form. In my opinion, It might be better to move it back to L. C. P. F. (consul 133 BC). --Tomaxer (talk) 22:29, 14 July 2008 (UTC)
