Responding to your post on the noticeboard

[edit]

Hi Joseph, I've looked through the article Sunday Shalom and yes, most of the references provided have a close association with the topic. I've briefly tried to search for it in the regular news agencies but unfortunately, couldn't find any mentions since it's not that notable. Regarding improving the article, I would suggest you first remove all the external links within the article. As per wp:external links, they are excessive and the few important ones need to go in the external links section and, to prevent it from looking like an {{advert}}. You could also format the references properly, by looking at other articles, or by seeing WP:Citing sources. By removing the excess information and putting it in a clear and concise way respecting wp:NPOV, you can remove the current tag placed on it since there are a few decent references. Tell me if you need any help. -Ugog Nizdast (talk) 10:06, 24 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I have browsed through the article, I thought it would be better if you made the edits yourself.
These Church vs Govt battle now taken to sex education and Weekly Newspaper-Planning An Edition of A Weekly Newspaper links, I couldn't access, and the last 2 are in Malayalam.
  • I really suggest you read Wp:citing sources, I'm afraid that the current citations are misleading and the information can be challenged/removed. If you really want to improve and remove that maintenance tag, find some better sources, you can look at other articles like the Good articles to see how articles should be written and cited. Also, I took the liberty of cleaning up the external links -Ugog Nizdast (talk) 06:52, 25 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions to the Sherlyn Chopra article, but for legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted.

You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must include on the external site the statement "I, (name), am the author of this article, (article name), and I release its content under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License, Version 1.2 and later, and under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribute Share-Alike."

You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question at the "Help Desk". You can also leave a message on my talk page. --Yamla (talk) 01:50, 14 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use File:Cartoonist Toms.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Cartoonist Toms.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Fut.Perf. 20:59, 17 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Fut.Perf. I still don't know why it failed under fair use. I used the above image because the image that was previously included in the article was of no use as you could see. It was blurry and doesn't have quality as an image. Thus I replaced it with with the image in question. Do you think if I could find a free image, will I not use it? I couldn't find one.--Joseph 04:13, 18 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Supporting Indian Wikipedia Program resource distribution

[edit]

In 2017 - 2018, the Wikimedia Foundation and Google working in close coordination with the Centre for Internet and Society (CIS), Wikimedia India chapter (WMIN) and user groups will pilot a program encouraging Wikipedia communities to create locally relevant and high-quality content in Indian languages. This program (Code name: Project Tiger) will:

(a) Support active and experienced Wikipedia editors through the donation of laptops and stipends for internet access and
(b) Sponsor a language-based contest that aims to address existing Wikipedia content gaps.

The objective of the program is to provide laptops and internet stipends for existing editors who need support to contribute more actively. 50 basic model Acer Chromebooks and Internet stipends for 100 contributors are available for distribution. Provided resources are the sole property of the beneficiaries and should be used for the betterment of the movement.

If you're an active Wikimedian, and interested to receive support from this project, please apply. It will take around 10 minutes of your time, and will ask descriptive questions about your contribution to Indic Wikimedia projects.

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Tenor Logo.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 19:11, 17 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

COI Editing

[edit]

Information icon Hello, 991joseph. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the article Tenor (website), you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you.

Hello User:Hagennos, I know what's your intention behind dropping this message. Based on my defending, you think that I've got a relationship with Tenor (website). Good assumption, but you're wrong! And I don't write Wikipedia to please someone. Meanwhile, I've got a message for you too, instead of trying to delete an article, why not spend your time to make it better. Also, make sure to sign when you drop a message in talk pages.--Joseph 17:00, 18 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 17:17, 1 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I have moved Karikku back to draftspace. The sourcing isn't sufficient to establish notability. Please work on improving the sourcing. Thank you and best wishes. Waggie (talk) 20:25, 3 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Waggie, is there any particular criteria for YouTube-related articles? Yesterday on IRC, Dragonfly told me sources are good and reliable!--Joseph 03:42, 4 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Hi 991joseph, thanks for your reply. You have two moderately good sources, and Dragonfly6-7 stated that that was sufficient in the context of a review, as that's what you had asked about. I'm sorry, but I don't feel that it's enough for it actually being moved to mainspace - there is a difference. The third source, for instance, is a primary source (them talking about themselves), and as such is really not a good source. Some information regarding specifically YouTube and notability can be found over at the relevant WikiProject YouTube page, but this isn't established policy or guideline. The most relevant guidelines here would probably be WP:NARTIST or WP:NCORP. If nothing else, then WP:BASIC applies. Please note that, as suggested by the first link, YouTubers haven't generally fared well at AfD unless there is substantial coverage. Passing fads with YouTubers almost never make the grade. It's generally sustained coverage over time, coverage that establishes it's not a WP:BLP1E scenario, that tends to get the keep votes at AfD. The two good sources appear to be within only a few months of each other. Either way, I hope this clarifies why I made the decision to move it back to draftspace. You're welcome to submit it for review and have another reviewer look it over independently. I went ahead and added the template so you can submit it if you like. That said, I really would recommend finding or waiting for more reliable sources. Waggie (talk) 05:06, 4 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the info. --Joseph 05:24, 4 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The article Muppathu Vellikkasu has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No updates on an unreleased/unproduced film since announcement.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist.
