Welcome to Wikipedia from Gnfnrf[edit]

Hi, Cryptod. I welcome you to Wikipedia! Thank you for all of your edits. I hope you like editing here and being part of Wikipedia! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); when you save the page, this will turn into your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or put {{helpme}} (and what you need help with) on your talk page and someone will show up very soon to answer your questions. Again, welcome! gnfnrf (talk) 03:04, 23 November 2008 (UTC)

,{i need help with edit the glocester sea serpent i want it to be like it is for the other cryptids}}C.JD 20:42, 23 November 2008 (UTC)--Cryptod (talk) 03:17, 23 November 2008 (UTC)

To make the helpme template work, you need to type it as it appears on the page, not as it appears in the edit window. (That is specifically designed not to trigger, so my message to you doesn't summon help.) However, I'm here now. What do you need help with? gnfnrf (talk) 03:27, 23 November 2008 (UTC)

i need help with changing things onthe glocester sea serpent im trying to make it so its like it is for the other cryptids and it is now a refrance to sea serpents wich i dont want i want it to be seprat from that can u please help

§C.JD 21:23, 23 November 2008 (UTC)

I'd be glad to help. First, I set the article you created about the Gloucester sea serpent to a redirect, because Wikipedia already has a section about the Gloucester sea serpent in another article, that provides more detail than you did. Your edit summary reverting that change, stating "omeone should not edit someone elses edits with out there premision..." represents a misunderstanding of how Wikipedia works. Right under the edit window on every page, there is a statement saying that "You irrevocably agree to release your contributions under the terms of the GDFL." Further down, it says "If you don't want your writing to be edited mercilessly or redistributed for profit by others, do not submit it". What this means is that, once you have posted anything to Wikipedia, you no longer control it. Anyone can make changes to it, and they probably will. You can learn more about ownership of Wikipedia articles, and why it is bad, at WP:OWN
Second, you can learn what it takes to write a good article by reading a guide to writing your first article. There's a lot to go through there, so take your time. I'll touch on some of the highlights, but try to read as much as you can of that. First and foremost, articles need to be built from reliable sources. This means finding books, magazines, journals, or other sources with a reputation for fact-checking and accuracy that have written about the subject of your article.
Third, your edits seem to have some strange formatting problems, and I don't understand why. Instead of coming through as plain text, when you leave a comment it is subscripted and bolded. How are you making edits to the page? You should just be able to type in the edit window after clicking on the "edit" button at the top of the page.
If you have further questions, I'll be glad to help more. gnfnrf (talk) 21:53, 23 November 2008 (UTC)

o sorry for that missunder standing and i had less information then that other artical because i just started it yesterday and i was saving it so i could edit it later

Speedy deletion of Brutes[edit]

Ambox warning pn.svg

A tag has been placed on Brutes, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to have no meaningful content or history, and the text is unsalvageably incoherent. If the page you created was a test, please use the sandbox for any other experiments you would like to do. Feel free to leave a message on my talk page if you have any questions about this.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Ros0709 (talk) 22:35, 23 November 2008 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Drones(halo3)[edit]

Ambox warning pn.svg

A tag has been placed on Drones(halo3) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about about a person, organization (band, club, company, etc.) or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable

Your recent edits[edit]

Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. If you can't type the tilde character, you should click on the signature button Button sig.png located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot (talk) 01:20, 24 November 2008 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of "Cryokinesis"[edit]

Nuvola apps important.svg

A page you created, Cryokinesis, has been tagged for deletion, as it meets one or more of the criteria for speedy deletion; specifically, it is very short and provides little or no context.

You are welcome to contribute content which complies with our content policies and any applicable inclusion guidelines. However, please do not simply re-create the page with the same content. You may also wish to read our introduction to editing and guide to writing your first article.

Please update your status with WP:VG[edit]

Dear WikiProject Video games member,

You are receiving this message because you have either Category:WikiProject Video games members or {{User WPVG}} somewhere in your userspace and you have edited Wikipedia in the recent months.

The Video games project has created a member list to provide a clearer picture of its active membership.

All members have currently been placed in the "Inactive" section by default. Please remove your username from the "Inactive" listing and place it under the "Active" listing if you plan on regularly:

Ideally, members are encouraged to do both, but either one meets our criteria of inclusion. Members still listed inactive at the beginning of November 2009 may be removed. You may re-add yourself to the active list at any time. Thank you for your help, and we look forward to working with you.

Dear Cryptod,

You are receiving this message because either [[Category:WikiProject Video games members]] or {{User WPVG}} is somewhere in your userspace, and you are currently listed in the "Unknown" section on the project's member list.

The member list is meant to provide a clearer picture of active membership. It is recommended that you update your status if you plan to regularly:

Members listed in the "Unknown" section will be removed from the membership list and category at the end of January 2010. You may re-add yourself to the active list at any time. Thank you for your help, and we look forward to working with you.

Slipknot Project Roll Call[edit]

In an attempt to breath life back in to the Project I am arranging a Roll Call and will begin making arrangement for group initiatives throughout the coming months. Just so the Project can keep an updated list of people who continue to contribute to the Project a Roll Call will happen from time to time. It is understood that over time, users may have lost interest in the Project or Wikipedia all together; if you have, it's no big deal. If you would like to keep contributing to the project please sign the list here. If you do not add your name to the list by January 16, you will become an "Inactive member", this will bar you from voting in the AoF, as well as receiving the monthly newsletter. Remember, if you ever want to join the project again, you are always welcome!!! REZTER TALK ø 01:37, 2 January 2010 (UTC)

As you may have already heard, the Wikipedia community lost an invaluable member of the community last month. Adrianne Wadewitz was a feminist scholar of 18th-Century British literature, and a prolific editor of the site. As part of a worldwide series of tributes, New England Wikimedians, in conjunction with local institutions of higher learning, have created three edit-a-thons that will be occurring in May and June. The events are as follows:

Europe 10,000 Challenge invite[edit]

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Europe/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, Iberian Peninsula, Romania, Slovenia etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for Europe and your specialist country like Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. This is a way we can target every country of Europe, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant and also sign under any country sub challenge on the page that you might contribute to! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 02:57, 6 November 2016 (UTC)

Wikipedia:WikiProject United States/The 50,000 Challenge[edit]

50k Challenge poster.jpg You are invited to participate in the 50,000 Challenge, aiming for 50,000 article improvements and creations for articles relating to the United States. This effort began on November 1, 2016 and to reach our goal, we will need editors like you to participate, expand, and create. See more here!
