This draft appears to be getting worse, not better. The paid editor appears to be incapable of grasping that referencing must be things about Blazakis, not by him. I just dropped by because you have also guided the editor. I have doubts that MfD would be appropriate or even successful, since drafts are treated ~oddly~ there, as if the draft space hardly matters. I'm not coming to any conclusion, save that the editor is under pressure to achieve their payment goals, and is floundering. Blazakis may even be notable (I see Wikipedia:ROTM right now) but it is not proven to me yet Fiddle Faddle 07:58, 6 April 2021 (UTC)

@Timtrent: Well said Tim. Thanks for the advice you've given the editor. I had lost the will to help her. Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 08:21, 6 April 2021 (UTC)
I never had the will to help, exactly. My will is to make her earn her shilling by being pleasant, assertive, precise with formal advice. Her job is to grasp what to do. Fiddle Faddle 08:33, 6 April 2021 (UTC)

Draft:Loadbalancer.org

Hi again CSC,

I finally had a chance to review your last comments – you suggested that one of the business website articles was most likely a Press Release, which was a fair comment (I was thrown off as the page metadata included an author name).

I have removed the source - I also tried to add a new credible article, but the hosting domain appears to be blacklisted by wikipedia:

hostingadvice.com/blog/loadbalancer-org-helps-businesses-streamline-web-traffic

Otherwise, I have tidied the page a bit more, so this is ready for further review, and hopefully publishing.

Thanks,

Conflict of interest

Good morning Curb Safe Charmer, i just received a message from you which does not make sense since i did in fact disclose my conflict of interest and i followed all the processes and procedures set out by wikipedia. i would appreciate it if you removed your comment from my page.

thank you, — Preceding unsigned comment added by Aïssa 93 390 (talkcontribs) 17:35, 17 April 2021 (UTC)

@Aïssa 93 390: I left the message on your talk page because disclosing your conflict of interest is not enough. As my recent message to you explains, you need to avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors and propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template for this). You've not complied with that. Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 16:57, 17 April 2021 (UTC)

@Curb Safe Charmer: I disagree with you and i disagree with your interpretation of the rules. why would one need to disclose their conflict of interest if they can not write or edit a post on which they have a conflict of interest? the rules are meant to ensure the articles are true rather than biased and that is the case for the Vancouver Tenants Union. you do not need to respond to this and i do not wish to engage with you any further. good day to you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Aïssa 93 390 (talkcontribs) 16:33, 19 April 2021 (UTC)

Draft: National Orthodox College

I am trying to write an article / page about a very important local school in Lebanon. I have included many references and the subject is similar to articles of other schools (ex: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Orthodox_School), but I keep on getting messages that the article was not accepted. Kindly advise what difference is my article to the one I mentioned here. I need to have the article published, but failing to understand why cannot do so. your further help and clarification is much appreciated. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Makatra (talkcontribs) 08:59, 20 April 2021 (UTC)

@Makatra: Why is the school 'very important'? Why do you 'need to have the article published'? What is your connection with the school? Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 12:51, 20 April 2021 (UTC)
@Curb Safe Charmer: It is "very important: because the school is a school community established over 100 years ago. Thousands of students graduated from this school and it is a considered a symbol of education and social life. It is like a well known school that many people talk about and would like to know its history, and I am trying through this page to write its history and have contributions from different alumni. We "need" to have the article published so that many alumni and historians can contribute to the article through wikipedia and enlarge the data. and as for my connection to the school, I am an alumni who graduated from this school many years ago and I live in the community where the school exists.
@Makatra: Wikipedia has criteria for which organisations (including schools) it should have articles about, and which it should not - see WP:NORG. The criteria are not based on importance, or whether the school is well known. Instead, we measure to what extent other reliable, independent publications have written in depth about the school. So you will need to add references to the article that show that this is the case. There is little point asking for contributions to the article from other alumni because their memories would need to be verifiable by reference to published sources. Wikipedia articles can only be trusted to be accurate if the source of the information is shown by means of these references - see WP:V. The reader cannot rely on your memories being correct. If you want to create a website for alumni to add their recollections of the school, Wikipedia isn't the place to do it.
If you proceed with the draft article, please read Wikipedia:WikiProject Schools/Article advice for advice on how to structure it. Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 09:38, 21 April 2021 (UTC)

I took on the Peacock problems of the article Naubat Khan, which you tagged in May 2020. I think I have removed the promotional language and given the article some context. I am removing the Peacock tag; please let me know if you have any concerns. Best Wishes, Jacqke (talk) 16:45, 8 May 2021 (UTC)

Refill

Hello, and thanks for taking over the Refill tool and getting it working again, along with the originator who popped back to help.

Could you have a look at the problem reported on the talk page of Wikipedia talk:ReFill#Adding deprecated parameter "deadurl"? which has been hanging around as a problem for over a year. I put a pull request in last May with a fix, but this did not get picked up when you did the work to get it going. The fix obviously need testing as I could not work out how to get an appropriate environment to try it.

Also there is a problem introduced with the rebuild where it is ignoring the options. See Ignoring options. Many thanks. Keith D (talk) 12:24, 10 May 2021 (UTC)

@Keith D: Hi and thanks for your message. I stepped forward to help support ReFill as I thought there should be more than zero people able to investigate when it stops working! I now have access to the infrastructure, and theoretically at least can administer the project on Github though I have not proven this yet. Unfortunately I didn't get a handover of any sort from Zhaofeng Li, so there is a steep learning curve. I am self-employed and have become rather more busy over the last couple of months so I probably need to take a couple of days unpaid leave to concentrate on ReFill. I don't have all the necessary skills, so I don't envisage that I can be the sole maintainer of the project - it should be a group effort. I will take a look at your fix and see what I can do about getting it into production. If you have Python skills it would be great to have your help. Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 16:18, 10 May 2021 (UTC)
Thanks for response, I do not have Python skills, I was a C programmer, so can do simple changes to the code by using the existing code as a model. Keith D (talk) 16:27, 10 May 2021 (UTC)

That way the approver will add the article to appropriate categories and WikiProjects and remove the AfC tags. If you move the article yourself it is up to you to do those things. Hi! You declined my submission for this new page and I was hoping you could give me some direction. This is my first article and I am not sure what you mean by "it reads more like an advertisement". The article talks about certain features of a well known SDK. Also, the references do have more than just a passing mention, the main focus of the articles is the LEADTOOLS toolkit. I think the only one that could be considered passing mention would be the PreEmptive article that lists software dev tools, but there is a bit of coverage even there. I would really appreciate your help as I am learning!Techgirl49 (talk) 17:26, 4 June 2021 (UTC)

@Techgirl49: Welcome to Wikipedia. Not all subjects belong in an encyclopaedia. In this case, I do not believe LEADTOOLS does. Has someone written a book about it? Has it been written about in national newspapers? Has it been studied in academic journals? I don't think so. No amount of editing can make a subject notable. At best, this could be a redirect to the article about the company - see WP:NPRODUCT. I recommend you find something else to write about. Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 14:11, 6 June 2021 (UTC)

Response to Reviewer Comments

Hello Curb Safe Charmer, I have can assure you I have no connection with the subject of the matter. All the information I have added to the page was entirely based on research, meaning I investigated more into the subject and found many articles and sources that were reliable and served as proof of what the person accomplished. I wouldn't expect someone without a background or understanding of the multifaceted field of science to understand that. If the article is such an issue though, I can cut it down and change the language to layman's terms. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pamxj (talkcontribs) 04:40, 26 June 2021 (UTC)

If you are going to continue leaving random complaints on pages I edit, then at least add specific details or even suggestions on how to improve the article. Your feedback is quite vague and not very useful. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pamxj (talkcontribs) 03:31, 1 July 2021 (UTC)

Hi, I am really sorry to bother you but I need your help. I am currently working on a Wikipedia page that I have personally created for a University Project. Here is the link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Abbey_of_San_Vito_Martire Unfortunately, you declined it because I did not respect all the parameters. I think that now it might be better. However, it takes too long for the others to review it and I need to finish it for my exam as soon as possible. Can you please review it once again for me? I can even improve it if you have any suggestions, as long as I know that everything will be done and ready in a short period of time.

Broadcasted

Hi Curb Safe Charmer, I have reverted your change at Television in Croatia‎, because broadcast is the simple past tense, and past participle, of broadcast.
The Wiktionary definition of Broadcasted states the use is sometimes proscribed, so it should not be used. The word also appears on Wikipedia:Lists_of_common_misspellings/B

Broadcasted appears in some dictionaries, but others, e.g. Chambers state "Sorry, no entries for Broadcasted were found".
Broadcast appears in all dictionaries, and should be used as per COMMONALITY - "Wikipedia tries to find words that are common to all varieties of English".
Thanks - - Arjayay (talk) 11:39, 6 July 2021 (UTC)

@Arjayay: You are right of course and apologies, I should have dropped you a note when I reverted the changes to the article made by new user John Lowe123. I should have used an edit summary like 'reverted to last good version' which in this case is as of 1 July, when it correctly said 'broadcast'. It was John Lowe who made several unhelpful edits including:
  • changing broadcast to broadcasted
  • adding an ordinal on a date (4 September to 4th September)
  • a comma after a year - I should probably have retained this change per MOS:YEAR
  • previously a part of HRT -> previously a part of the HRT

I reverted all but one of their contributions - it looks like they're WP:UPE and making 10 uncontroversial edits to become autoconfirmed. My revert wiped out your edit. Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 13:31, 6 July 2021 (UTC)

No worries Curb Safe Charmer - I've just reverted his date format change - Best wishes - Arjayay (talk) 13:51, 6 July 2021 (UTC)

@Mayur Bhatt Shiv: Thank you. Is Ravi Dave a Wikipedia editor? What do they do for a job? Do you know why they asked you to write about Jezweb? Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 09:56, 16 July 2021 (UTC)

2) https://www.bing.com/public/jezwebdesign 3) https://www.crunchbase.com/organization/jezweb

Rushed

Hi, I am confused. This is a movie with big names, produced by Lars Von Trier, reported on by Deadline, Coming Soon, EW, Vulture and more. Why wouldn't it have an article about it? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hoglundandy (talkcontribs) 17:51, 19 July 2021 (UTC)

@Hoglundandy: Wikipedia doesn't have an article about every film. Some films are a massive commercial success, there are others that are still popular fifty years after they were released, and others break new ground because of their scriptwriting, photography, performances, or production. Films like those should have an article about them in an encyclopedia like this one. When a film hasn't reached the theatres yet, it is Wikipedia:Too soon#Films to know if any of those things will be true of it. Having notable actors in the cast isn't enough to warrant an encyclopedia article about a film - some films with famous actors promise much but fail to have anyone sit up and take notice. So instead, we wait and see how much in-depth coverage there is about the film in other reliable, independent publications. The references you've given are mere announcements, not in depth coverage of the plot twists, amazing performances, the soundtrack, interesting insights into the production. So, wait and see how the film does and come back to the article a few months after it screens? Either that or find references that show that it has already been written about in depth because of newsworthy things that happened during production. Revised Article - Wikipedia Guidelines

Hello Curb Safe Charmer, the article was not entirely written by me. In accordance with your feedback, the article was revised to include notable and verifiable information (references provided). Now that these changes have been made, we hope the article is appropriate to publish on Wikipedia. If you have any more questions or suggestions, we would be happy to hear them. — Preceding unsigned comment added by ConradcRizal (talkcontribs) 22:02, 20 July 2021 (UTC)

@ConradcRizal: Which article are you referring to? And who is 'we'? Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 21:09, 20 July 2021 (UTC)
Hello Curb Safe Charmer, thank you for the reply. I was referring to the article entitled ConradcRizal. It is likely deleted by Liz on July 18th. I was wondering if there is there a way to undelete it? The first draft was created by one of our students in Toronto who first proposed it. She did not have any prior experience writing an article for Wikipedia. Now I feel that she clearly did not learn about the Wikipedia community before creating the account. I agree that the first draft was not ready to publish. And also, I understand that Wikipedia articles are very different from CV and/or personal biographies, which is great - the uniqueness of the article in Wikipedia.
As you can google search, my information is already available all over the internet, so the aim to write the article was not to further publicize it but to give the facts. After receiving your comments, the page was revised by another student to meet Wikipedia's guidelines. If our intention was unclear, we would not have chosen the user name as my name.
Again, writing a Wikipedia article seems to be not the job of everyone. I appreciate many volunteers giving their time to help others. I would appreciate it if it is possible to reactive and review the revised article. No further comments were posted when the article was revised to meet the Wikipedia guideless. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by ConradcRizal (talkcontribs) 23:28, 21 July 2021 (UTC)
@ConradcRizal: When Liz deleted the article she left you a message here which explains how you can ask for the draft to be restored. I see that you also asked at Wikipedia:Teahouse/Questions/Archive 1117#Profile deleted and someone replied to you there with what you should do next. Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 09:30, 26 July 2021 (UTC)

Hi. I noticed you seem to have accepted this anonymously written article. However, I noticed that, early in the text, it had an WP:EXTRAORDINARY claim about nationality and religion of the subject, that was referenced to a bare link, pointing to a journal article, that in turn does not talk about those topics at all. This sounds like typical anonymous nationalist soapboxing, but that doesn't mean that we should let this go through in the future. If you notice further claims of ethnicity, nationality, religion etc in the WP:ARBMAC topic area submissions, and the reference isn't in English, please reach out at WT:SRB or WT:HRV or WT:BiH and have someone translate it first. --Joy [shallot] (talk) 22:10, 25 July 2021 (UTC)

@Joy: hi, it is nice to hear from you. Per WP:AFCPURPOSE, my role as an AfC reviewer is to determine whether the draft would be likely to survive AfD or not, and if it probably would to accept it. In this case I checked that the references appeared to be reliable, but AfC reviewers cannot be experts on every subject so it is unrealistic to expect that we can determine whether all the statements in an article are true. I added the article to the Austria, Croatia and Serbia WikiProjects which then adds them to the unassessed articles category for those subjects. I see that as the opportunity for subject matter experts such as yourself to use your expertise to fact-check. Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 09:18, 26 July 2021 (UTC)
Well, I agree it would probably survive an AfD just because the biography seems generally notable, but even so, WP:TNT sometimes happens, so I'd rather see this in the "Maybe, but I'm not sure." AFC category than for us to propagate anonymous hoaxes and whatnot. --Joy [shallot] (talk) 15:20, 26 July 2021 (UTC)
@Joy: At AfC we see drafts that are clearly not suitable for Wikipedia that we quickly reject, others that we decline because notability is clearly not there, and still others that are problem-free and can quickly be accepted. The problem we have is the drafts that fall into the middle ground. Reviewers will often leave them in the 'too difficult to review' pile, for someone else to hopefully pick up. But too few reviewers are willing to tackle the growing backlog, and we end up in the situation we had at the start of July where there were 4,000+ drafts awaiting review and we just weren't making an impact on that number. We are nearing the end of a backlog drive, and that has forced reviewers like me to make a decision on such drafts rather than sit on the fence. We mustn't conflate AfC and AfD; if something is fixable it should be in mainspace and appropriately tagged, rather than languishing in the AfC backlog because nobody wants to make a decision on it. Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 15:28, 26 July 2021 (UTC)

what specfically needs to change on my draft?

Curb Safe Charmer, I wanted to be sure that you knew your most recent comment on the review had been responded to, even though there wasn't a ping, and that there seems to be more work that needs to be done. Best of luck on your nomination! BlueMoonset (talk) 16:30, 6 August 2021 (UTC)

@Eiathom: Fáilte. Wikipedia isn't a place for sports clubs to have free publicity. It is an encyclopedia. Like any encyclopedia, Wikipedia has inclusion criteria. Please take a look at WP:CLUB and WP:GNG to understand how we decide which sports clubs to include articles about, and which to not. See also WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS. "Under review"

Several hours ago, you marked Draft:Francis Baraan as "under review". Since then, you haven't reviewed it, but you've found the time to make edits elsewhere. Please either review it or remove its "under review" template. -- Hoary (talk) 09:07, 7 August 2021 (UTC)

@Hoary: I am expecting this draft to be deleted as WP:G5 and awaiting completion of a CU. Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 09:36, 7 August 2021 (UTC)
OK -- I hadn't noticed Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/EditorManagerPH, sorry. (Even if there were no suspicion of block evasion, the draft would surely be doomed.) Take your time! -- Hoary (talk) 09:56, 7 August 2021 (UTC)

Hi!@Curb Safe Charmer: This is Giorgia,

first of all thanks anyway for your attention! I'm new to wikipedia and even though I tried to follow all the rules I didn't expect to be able to publish on the first try! :) I am writing to you because I would like to ask you for help and take advantage of your experience to correct the article according to the correct criteria. Biting the newbies

About this edit: What was your factual basis for posting that long warning? WhatamIdoing (talk) 02:37, 11 August 2021 (UTC)

@WhatamIdoing: their editing pattern led me to suspect that they are involved in WP:SEO:
The editor has stated that they are not paid. However, I have certain off-wiki evidence that links these brands to the same SEO firm and have sent this to paid-en-wp@wikipedia.org. Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 08:09, 11 August 2021 (UTC)
Any effective promotion campaign is going to result in some editors seeing those websites, and therefore being more likely to post such links. If you are concerned about SEO campaigns – which most experienced SEO professionals already know don't work on wiki, because of our nofollow rules and how few readers look at the refs – then you should probably be talking to the Wikipedia:Spam blacklist folks instead of accusing any individual of being undisclosed paid editors. Spam isn't wanted even if it's purely voluntary and accidental. WhatamIdoing (talk) 19:03, 11 August 2021 (UTC)
@WhatamIdoing: Thanks for the tip. At the moment there's no indication that this is part a sustained spamming attempt, and if it became so given that 'blacklisting a URL should be used as a last resort against spammers' I would exhaust other remedies first such as warning the editor(s), page protection and requesting a block at WP:AIV before requesting blacklisting, per the instructions at Wikipedia:Spam blacklist. Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 07:53, 12 August 2021 (UTC)
I'm doubtful of your evidence, which amounts to someone adding URLs without affiliate codes to multiple unrelated websites, some of which happen to have affiliate marketing programs.
I still think you should contact the spam folks such as Beetstra. When you genuinely suspect a spam campaign involving multiple unrelated businesses, a note on one person's talk page and an e-mail message doesn't go very far. The spam folks have access to some extra tools and can check for cross-wiki evidence of spam. WhatamIdoing (talk) 14:37, 12 August 2021 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on Talk:Shaurya Doval requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion discussion, at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Shaurya Doval (2nd nomination). When a page has substantially identical content to that of a page deleted after a discussion, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

Edits to the Real Estate in Pakistan Wiki page

Hi Curb Safe Charmer,

I have added some changes/links to the Real Estate in Pakistan Wiki page. These changes are the addition of two major Real Estate groups working in Pakistan alongside with the government and private sector to bring revolution to the Real Estate industry by introducing blockchain technology. The groups I have added are Graana.com and Imarat.com.pk who are both competitors of the Real Estate group already mentioned on the Wiki page i.e. Zameen.com. I hope you understand the changes are not fraudulent or incorrect and acceptable to you.

Thanks, Farhad Jarral

@Farhadjarral: The 'see also' section of an article is a place for links to other relevant Wikipedia articles. It is not a place for links to other websites. See MOS:SEEALSO. Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 11:34, 29 September 2021 (UTC)

That makes sense. So I can add information on the Real Estate Education around the work Graana is doing. How can I create a Wikipedia page for Graana.com similar to what Zameen.com has? Farhadjarral (talk) 11:45, 29 September 2021 (UTC)

@Farhadjarral: Maybe, if the information you add is cited to reliable, independent sources and is relevant to the article and not 'news'. Regarding creating an article about Graana.com, first read WP:NWEB and WP:NCORP. Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 11:49, 29 September 2021 (UTC)

I need your help

Hello, Curb Safe Charmer. You have declined my submission Draft:University of Kragujevac Faculty of Engineering. Your only comment was to "See WP:NFACULTY." Could you give me an insight what can I change? Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by MarijaBaki (talkcontribs) 12:22, 29 September 2021 (UTC)

@MarijaBaki: did you look at what WP:NFACULTY says? Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 11:26, 29 September 2021 (UTC)
I did. This faculty has history of more than 60 years in Serbia, like other faculties in Serbia that were founded in the same year and have articles on Wikipedia about them. This is national educational institution. Not sure what notability are you meaning exactly?
— Preceding unsigned comment added by MarijaBaki (talkcontribs) 16:17, 29 September 2021 (UTC)
@MarijaBaki: Notability is whether something is worthy of note. It is a key concept in Wikipedia, and is used to decide whether there should be an article on a topic or not - see WP:Notability. We assess notability by looking at whether other reliable, independent publications have already written in depth about the topic. Subjects are not automatically notable because they are old, or a national institution. Your options are to merge some of the content from your draft into the existing article about the university, or to add references to the draft to clearly show that organisations independent of the university have written in depth about it. See WP:NORG for details. Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 16:59, 29 September 2021 (UTC)

Refill

Hello, just wondered if there had been any progress on working out how to do a release of this tool? Also have you worked out how to get a local copy of the source running so that changes can be made to it and tested before it is put live? We need some instructions creating as to how both of these can be done, the existing list of things to get a local copy do not make sense to me and look to be more for UNIX than PC. Keith D (talk) 23:53, 29 September 2021 (UTC)

@Keith D: Yes, the instructions for installing the software locally for development and testing are written for UNIX users. After gaining access to the live environment, I tried to write an equivalent for PC users - see User:Curb_Safe_Charmer/Refilldev, but this requires a Windows Server rather than a Windows 10 PC, so for most people would require setting one up in a virtual environment such as the Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services cloud. I got so far, but couldn't get the final bits of the jigsaw in place. So at the moment I can deploy changes, but cannot test them myself. It would rely on trusting whoever is submitting a fix on GitHub to have properly conducted their own testing. What we really need is others to step forward who have the requisite experience with Linux etc. Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 08:32, 30 September 2021 (UTC)
Thanks for the update. Have been mulling over while working through my watchlist and think a way to get a test without a local environment would be to create a Refill copy (called something else) that you can deploy to as a testing copy. Once have this working then can copy over to the live version, something similar to having a sandbox copy. Though would give you extra work in doing the deployment but may be a way to get things progressing as an interim solution. Keith D (talk) 12:51, 30 September 2021 (UTC)
@Keith D: That could work, for small, self-contained code changes where we can show 'this was the buggy behaviour on live, and this is the fixed behaviour on test'. We can then agree that such a bug is fixed and can be deployed to live. It won't work so well for bigger changes, and not where we need to attach a debugger to the back end. Let me see how we can move that forward. Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 13:36, 30 September 2021 (UTC)

Copy Editing

Hi Curb Safe Charmer,

Thanks for your recent message! I'm new enough to Wikipedia editing that I'm still learning how to work with talk pages, so I'm taking the liberty of replying on *your* talk page. Sorry for that.

Since I have professional experience as a technical writer and editor, all of my changes on Wikipedia are at the level of proofreading or minor copy editing. For this reason, I have flagged each such change as minor. Adding a comment for each change would actually double the time required for this proofreading and copy editing work, which I unfortunately wouldn't be able to commit to.

Given this situation, would Wikipedia prefer me to continue with the proofreading and copy editing on occasion (without explicit comments)? Or would it be better to stop my editing here for now?

Thanks,

Dmodjeska (talk) 21:38, 2 November 2021 (UTC)

@Dmodjeska: It is great that you're volunteering to copyedit - there's so much of it to do. Experienced editors use shorthand to indicate to other editors what they've changed. "ce" is shorthand for "I have done miscellaneous copy editing" so I suggest you use that as your edit summary - doing so should take about half a second. See H:FIES for further guidance and Wikipedia:Edit summary legend/Quick reference for a list of commonly used abbreviations in edit summaries such as 'gr' for grammar. Bots Newsletter, December 2021

Bots Newsletter, December 2021
BRFA activity by month

Welcome to the eighth issue of the English Wikipedia's Bots Newsletter, your source for all things bot. Maintainers disappeared to parts unknown... bots awakening from the slumber of æons... hundreds of thousands of short descriptions... these stories, and more, are brought to you by Wikipedia's most distinguished newsletter about bots.

Our last issue was in August 2019, so there's quite a bit of catching up to do. Due to the vast quantity of things that have happened, the next few issues will only cover a few months at a time. This month, we'll go from September 2019 through the end of the year. I won't bore you with further introductions — instead, I'll bore you with a newsletter about bots.

Overall

  • Between September and December 2019, there were 33 BRFAs. Of these, Green checkmarkY 25 were approved, and 8 were unsuccessful (Dark red X symbolN2 3 denied, Blue question mark? 3 withdrawn, and Expired 2 expired).

September 2019

Look! It's moving. It's alive. It's alive... It's alive, it's moving, it's alive, it's alive, it's alive, it's alive, IT'S ALIVE!
  • Green checkmarkY Monkbot 16, DannyS712 bot 60, Ahechtbot 6, PearBOT 3, Qbugbot 3 · Dark red X symbolN2 DannyS712 bot 5, PkbwcgsBot 24 · Blue question mark? DannyS712 bot 61, TheSandBot 4
  • TParis goes away, UTRSBot goes kaput: Beeblebrox noted that the bot for maintaining on-wiki records of UTRS appeals stopped working a while ago. TParis, the semi-retired user who had previously run it, said they were "unlikely to return to actively editing Wikipedia", and the bot had been vanquished by trolls submitting bogus UTRS requests on behalf of real blocked users. While OAuth was a potential fix, neither maintainer had time to implement it. TParis offered to access to the UTRS WMFLabs account to any admin identified with the WMF: "I miss you guys a whole lot [...] but I've also moved on with my life. Good luck, let me know how I can help". Ultimately, SQL ended up in charge. Some progress was made, and the bot continued to work another couple months — but as of press time, UTRSBot has not edited since November 2019.
  • Article-measuring contest resumed: The list of Wikipedians by article count, which had lain dead for several years, was triumphantly resurrected by GreenC following a bot request.

October 2019

November 2019

Now you're thinking with portals.

December 2019

In the next issue of Bots Newsletter:
What's next for our intrepid band of coders, maintainers and approvers?

  • What happens when two bots want to clerk the same page?
  • What happens when an adminbot goes hog wild?
  • Will reFill ever get fixed?
  • What's up with ListeriaBot, anyway?
  • Python 3.4 deprecation? In my PyWikiBot? (It's more likely than you think!)

These questions will be answered — and new questions raised — by the January 2022 Bots Newsletter. Tune in, or miss out!

Signing off... jp×g 04:29, 10 December 2021 (UTC)

  • Only list articles that readers might reasonably be looking for
  • Use short sentence fragment descriptions, with no punctuation at the end
  • Use exactly one navigable link ("blue link") in each entry that mentions the title being disambiguated
  • Only add a "red link" if used in existing articles, and include a "blue link" to an appropriate article
  • Do not pipe links (unless style requires it) – keep the full title of the article visible
  • Do not insert external links or references - Wikipedia is not a business directory

Submission declined

Hello, you have just declined my submission, may I ask why? I have no knowledge on how to Wiki other than what I read on the help page. My boss assigned me with getting a Wikipedia page for the company. I got declined twice already. This is a real company that sells extremely luxurious clothes to celebrities such Hailey Bieber, Gig Hadid, Beyonce and many more to name. This is a multi million company. We have a website, and a verified Instagram account : @made.gold - What am I doing wrong and how can I get us listed? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Astridhansley (talkcontribs) 17:19, 5 January 2022 (UTC)

@Astridhansley: Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a directory of companies. Just because something exists doesn't mean there should be an article about it. See WP:NCORP for the inclusion criteria. Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 17:34, 5 January 2022 (UTC)

Plymouth Arts Cinema

Hi Curb Safe Charmer I am getting in touch as you recently declined the new page I created, Plymouth Arts Cinema. I created the page as the entry needs to be differentiated from Plymouth Arts Centre. The organisation has changed its name and location. The feedback mentions references. I did post a reference to a Plymouth Live article stating the change of name and location. Are there any sorts of references that are missing and that would help if I included? Thanks PACchar (talk) 15:30, 12 January 2022 (UTC)

@PACchar: Please read WP:NCORP and WP:V. Also, I see added a conflict of interest notice to your user page, which is good, however if you are an employee, and it appears you may be, then you also need to comply with the WP:PAID disclosure requirements before you edit the article further. Submission at Articles for creation: David Gianotten (January 18)

@Curb Safe Charmer thank you for your edits to Draft:David Gianotten. I am not sure about your comments and am seeking your advice.

The sources that I have included have all been published by third parties.

- Design Trust (20 March 2020). "International Advisory Council". Retrieved 18 January 2021. (Design trust is an independent NGO based in Hong Kong)

- Gianotten, David (26 Feb 2013). "Hier is een architect heus geen superstar" (Interview) (in Dutch). Interviewed by Henny de Lange. Retrieved 8 December 2021. (Trouw is a widely read Dutch newspaper, and an article, even interview, published there should be credible? I assume the journalist has also fact-checked?)

- Wiles, William (16 October 2008). "Roombeek Culture Cluster". ICON. Retrieved 18 January 2021. (ICON is an important design magazine, thus a reliable source?)

- Van Schoor, Steven (2014). 'Ik ben geen ik' - de verdwijntruc van Rem Koolhaas ['I am not me' - Rem Koolhaas's disappearing act] (PDF). Masterscriptie, Ghent University (Thesis) – via Universiteitsbibliotheek Gent. (This is a published thesis by a student researcher. in the article, interviews with Gianotten have been quoted as reliable sources too.)

- Wong, Olga; Chow, Vivienne (4 January 2011). "Architectural firm OMA moves Asian HQ from Beijing to Hong Kong". Retrieved 8 December 2021. (South China Morning Post is the largest English language newspaper in Hong Kong. Assuming that the journalists have factchecked, and the article with quotes from Gianotten is reliable?)

- "Gianotten named managing partner-architect of OMA". Construction Week (Press release). 9 December 2014. Retrieved 18 January 2021. (This is not a press release, but a news item published by a trade publication. Assuming that the info has been fact checked?)

- Gosavi, Ritu. "Design for a five-story office building in Amsterdam revealed by OMA / David Gianotten". Rethinking The Future. Retrieved 8 December 2021. (This is not an interview. it is recent, and covers the work of Gianotten rather extensively)

- Gianotten, David. "Conversations with Leading Professionals" (Interview). Interviewed by Aaron Prinz. Retrieved 8 December 2021. (AR is one of the most important platforms for architects. assuming what they publish is credible?)

I have included these sources based on my knowledge that I got from journalism school and phd studies. I am hoping to understand why the sources included above are not credible. Would be wonderful to have your feedback, and thanks so much for all your input.

@Manha Sylvia: Thank you for so politely challenging my review. Not all editors do so that courteously!
Source assessment table: prepared by User:Curb Safe Charmer
Source Independent? Reliable? Significant coverage? Count source toward GNG?
International Advisory Council No Gianotten is an advisor to the Design Trust. The biography will have been written/provided by Gianotten. Yes No reason to doubt that the Design Trust, or this specific information, is inaccurate Yes Five paragraphs of information, all about Gianotten No
Hier is een architect heus geen superstar No This is an interview - Gianotten talking about himself and his views Yes No reason to doubt that Trouw is reliable Yes A long piece, some, but not all, of which is about Gianotten. The bits where he expresses opinions don't help towards notability. No
Roombeek Culture Cluster Yes These appear to be the views of Will Wiles without having been influenced or paid by Gianotten or the firm Yes No The article is about the building, not about Gianotten No
'Ik ben geen ik' - de verdwijntruc van Rem Koolhaas Yes Yes No A few paragraphs that tell us a little about Gianotten, but the thesis is really about Rem Koolhaas and the company No
Architectural firm OMA moves Asian HQ from Beijing to Hong Kong Yes Yes No I could not read the whole article as a subscription is required, but this appears to be an article about the company, with one or more quotes from Gianotten No
Gianotten named managing partner-architect of OMA No A press release from the company Yes A staff writer has probably copied this verbatim, without checking any facts, but I have no reason to doubt the content is accurate No The announcement of a promotion is routine coverage and tells us little about him No
Design for a five-story office building in Amsterdam revealed by OMA / David Gianotten ? I can only speculate as to whether OMA paid Ritu Gosavi to write this piece. I expect it is not independent given the number of professional photos of him. Yes No Most of the article is about the building. Only the first paragraph is about Gianotten. No
Conversations with Leading Professionals No This is an interview - Gianotten talking about OMA Yes ? The podcast episode is 54 minutes long, and I haven't listened to it all No
This table may not be a final or consensus view; it may summarize developing consensus, or reflect assessments of a single editor. Created using {{source assess table}}.

Wikipedia expects at least three references with a tick in the 'Count source towards GNG' column showing that they meet all the criteria in order to establish notability. At the moment there are none. Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 11:51, 19 January 2022 (UTC)

Request on 10:42:46, 19 January 2022 for assistance on AfC submission by Leegiaphu17

Hi. How do I know what's going on with the other article that is the duplicate of this one? I also created that article but since I don't know how to track that one so I have to recreate this duplicated version. Can you help me? Thanks!

Leegiaphu17 (talk) 10:42, 19 January 2022 (UTC)

@Leegiaphu17: rather than have two versions you should pick which one you want to work on (ideally this one as we prefer drafts to be in the 'draft' space rather than 'user' space) and then request for the other one to be deleted by adding {{Db-author}} to the top of it. Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 10:47, 19 January 2022 (UTC)
@Anagram: Got it. But will I be able to know if this one got rejected? And if it is, will I be able to know where to improve? Thanks!

Leegiaphu17 (talk) 10:42, 19 January 2022 (UTC)

@Leegiaphu17: Yes. Once you submit that one for review and a reviewer has looked at the draft and if they decline it, you'll get an automatic email, a message on your user talk page and a box at the top of the draft, all of which will explain what the issue is and how to fix it. Hi,

I submitted an article last week about a non-profit organisation, Value Balancing Alliance, which unfortunately got deleted because the article already existed before. I'm writing to let you know that I'm the same person who submitted the article for review from the CMEvalue (talk · contribs) account and this account (my account). Since it was rejected because the reviewer thought I was getting paid to publish that article and sounded like an advertisement, I felt that creating a personal account would make it seem less advertised.

I kindly ask you to republish the article I created with this account and delete the other I submitted from the CMEvalue account. If it still doesn't meet the requirements, please let me know to rephrase it.

Regards!

Lisaweber1 (talk) 13:53, 20 January 2022 (UTC)

@Lisaweber1: Only administrators are able to access articles that have been deleted, and as I am not one, perhaps Athaenara who deleted Draft:Value Balancing Alliance could you review your request and advise you on the use of two Wikipedia accounts. Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 14:06, 20 January 2022 (UTC)
@Lisaweber1: Whether or not you were paid, the pages you and CMEvalue wrote were unequivocal advertising and promotion, the sort of thing that should never be restored. – Athaenara 15:42, 20 January 2022 (UTC)

Request on 17:05:57, 15 January 2022 for assistance on AfC submission by Alpiner123

Thanks for your message. I’d like your assistance in making this Templar Trail article more compliant. I am an expert in the subject, as I founded the trail and walked its 4,000 km in 2006, wrote a book about it with stages, etc., did many interviews and live presentations, and have a current weekly post about the trail. Please help me to make this happen. Thanks. Alpiner123 (talk) 17:05, 15 January 2022 (UTC)

Alpiner123 (talk) 17:05, 15 January 2022 (UTC) @Alpiner123: we are all volunteers here, and as there is much to do such as review other editors' drafts, I don't have the time or inclination to help you improve your draft. It looks like a thinly veiled attempt to promote your book, and unless others have written in depth about the subject it is unlikely to be accepted as an article. See WP:Notability. See also WP:SELFPUBLISH. Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 11:45, 17 January 2022 (UTC)

@Curb Safe Charmer: I understand we’re all busy and I appreciate any volunteer work during these tough times. As a first-timer, I just needed clarification. Some 500k pilgrims walk to Santiago de Compostela, Spain on the Camino each year. Many continue to go to Rome and then, naturally Jerusalem is a final destination. Having done some ten of these pilgrimages, I know a bit. The pilgrimage to Jerusalem has a long heritage over the past thousand years and a main task assigned to the Knights Templar was to protect pilgrims during the time of the Crusades. This route closely follows the route of Godfrey de Bouillon and, as thus, has history significance. This article is to simply share information about the trail is not “a thinly veiled attempt to promote my book.” My book was published twelve years ago and is now practically given away on Amazon e-books, at my insistence. It simply is the only book to cover this route completely with stages, distances, packing lists, and knowledge about what to expect, which is essential for someone walking that distance to Jerusalem. If you remain without inclination to assist, please refer me to someone more interested. Thanks. Alpiner123 (talk) 16:00, 17 January 2022 (UTC)
@Alpiner123: The subject may be very much of interest to you, but has it already been written about in depth by multiple, reliable, independent publications, other than yours? If so, please add references to those publications to the draft. If there aren't three or more such references then it is not a suitable topic for a Wikipedia article. Please read WP:Notability as understanding this is fundamental to contributing to Wikipedia.
While it is not my 'job' to find you someone to help write the article, you might find someone on the list of members of WikiProject Spain or by leaving a message on the project's talk page, or maybe at Talk:Jerusalem, or even at Talk:Knights Templar. This master is famous and there are so many worthless ones in the wiki that they should not be.

Jan Hummel Wikipedia Article

Dear Curb Safe Charmer,

you recently declined an article by Jan Hummel that I wrote. I was just wondering why? He is a well known figure in the Value Investing Community and has been asked to speak frequently at both Columbia Business School and Harvard Business School as well as other academic institutions in Sweden, Greece and Canada.

There has been a Harvard Business School Case written about his firm and him as a Value Investor. He has been interviewed by Columbia Business School for Professor Santos Value Investing with Legends Podcast. He has a whole section on him and Paradigm Capital in the Value Investing Book from Professor Bruce Greenwald. How can I improve the article? What is missing for it to be published? Any pointers or help would be highly appreciated.

Thank you kindly.

Best, Cbh266

Cbh266 (talk) 08:46, 1 February 2022 (UTC)

@Cbh266: I see that I left you a message in a yellow box on your user talk page, and a similar message in a pink box on the draft itself. Hopefully you've already read the information in those. Two of the references Hummel talking about himself, so those are not independent. The HBS coverage appears to be about the fund, not about the man. In Wikipedia we are interested not in what a person has said, but what has been said about them. Not in what they've written, but what has been written about them. Can you find additional references that show that others have written in depth about the man? Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 09:44, 1 February 2022 (UTC)

WP:AFC Helper News

Hello! I wanted to drop a quick note for all of our AFC participants; nothing huge and fancy like a newsletter, but a few points of interest.

  • AFCH will now show live previews of the comment to be left on a decline.
  • The template {{db-afc-move}} has been created - this template is similar to {{db-move}} when there is a redirect in the way of an acceptance, but specifically tells the patrolling admin to let you (the draft reviewer) take care of the actual move.

Short and sweet, but there's always more to discuss at WT:AFC. Stop on by, maybe review a draft on the way? Whether you're one of our top reviewers, or haven't reviewed in a while, I want to thank you for helping out in the past and in the future. Morgan Hudson Dronfield Henry Fanshawe School

Hello, You reverted my edit for Dronfield Henry Fanshawe School's Alumni, whilst I see where you may be coming from, I must object: - Morgan Hudson is a large internet personality (you may research him on YouTube), he is featured on several Wiki's and his childhood is a dark side to the internet, which I am shining light on. Whilst I have no public sources or articles, I can internally confirm he holds an email address and entered the school in 2012, which equates to his current age of being roughly 20 years old, Likewise I have seen some of his old projects, again, from an internal system.

New to Wikipedia so please bear with us! We created a page on 'Suffolk Cats' - we are the UK Suffolk Breed Club - and submitted for approval quite some time ago. We've assumed it takes a long time to approve but we've just noticed it was reviewed as infringing copyright on 27 July 2021 as follows:

This seems to be infringing GCCF online entries but we're affiliated to the GCCF and share most of the info. We're more than happy to correct any infringements but we don't know what they are, neither do we have the original document to correct as we can't find it on Wikipedia, even under Deletions, Sandbox etc?

Please advise where we can get hold of the original to correct?

@Sjanapgs: While the draft had been accepted into mainspace by a reviewer, that is the view of one individual. It doesn't mean that the article might not later be deleted, or redirected. Any editor can tag an article in mainspace for speedy deletion, propose it for deletion, or nominate it for discussion by other editors who may reach consensus that it should be deleted. See Wikipedia:Deletion process if you're interested in that. While deletions can only be done by an administrator, any individual editor can follow the process described at WP:D-R to redirect an article to another article, with the contents of the original article preserved in its page history, which enables the action to be easily undone if needed. The reason I replaced the article with a redirect is because if a business person is notable only for their work for a particular company and there's an article about that company, the information about the person should be in the context of that business (per WP:BUSINESSPERSONOUTCOME). If however the person has had a long career working with different companies or has done things outside of that business such as being a notable sportsperson or becoming an elected politician then those would be good reasons for keeping a separate article about the person.
In the case of Soutter, everything in the 'career' section of the article was about his time at PGS Entertainment, and the awards won were for work done at PGS.
If you object to the redirect, it can be undone, but that would trigger the article being discussed by the Wikipedia community in a deletion discussion where you would need to justify your position that Soutter was notable more widely than his work at PGS.

Request on 14:00:27, 11 May 2022 for assistance on AfC submission by LeaLuk

Hello, I'm writing because I'm having trouble with reliable sources and referencing. I did not understan very well how to make the change. Thank you!

LeaLuk (talk) 14:00, 11 May 2022 (UTC)

@LeaLuk: The following might help: WP:Verifiabilty (to understand what it is and why it is needed) and then Help:Referencing for beginners for how to actually add them. Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 14:25, 11 May 2022 (UTC)

Adopt me!

Hello CSC!

Your username was probably the most familiar to me at Wikipedia:Adopt-a-user/Adoptee's Area/Adopters. Reading your user page, I found myself relating to you quite a bit.

I'd love to have someone to go to whenever I have a question regarding notability, referencing, automated tools, style, maintenance tags...

So far, I think I've gotten notability and referencing down, and I think I'm quite familiar with most guidelines. However, I still make a lot of "rookie" mistakes. What I've noticed myself questioning most lately has been how I deal with maintenance tags and categories.

In about a month or so, I'll be taking a lengthy hiatus from work and studies. I intend on spending a significant amount of my free time on Wikipedia. I have a huge list of articles I'd like to create, and of existing articles I'd like to expand and improve. It'd be best if I knew what I was doing and had everything down to a T.

My first question:

I recently created an article covering the world's tallest dog. Coincidentally but not surprisingly, Zeus, the current record holder, shares his name with a previous "world's tallest tog".

On Wikipedia, Zeus #1 is Zeus (dog). Zeus #2 is Zeus (Great Dane). The thing is, both of them are Great Danes. They are also both American, and I don't have Zeus #2's year of birth. Not quite sure how to deal with the title. Any suggestions? Mooonswimmer

@Mooonswimmer: hi! It is good to meet you. I would be delighted to adopt you. I am sure I would learn a lot from your articles, as I hope you'll be able to learn from me. I've not adopted anyone before, you would be my first, so bear with me as I adjust to the role. I think I had assumed adoptees would be newer editors - you appear to be well underway on your learning journey. So I'll need to think about some of the things that will help you advance to the next level of skill and maturity as a Wikipedian.
I'll take a look at the Zeus articles, though probably not this evening UK time, and see how I can help you with that. Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 20:29, 14 May 2022 (UTC)

Sock page deletions

Hi! I'm sorry, CSC, but we just can't speedy-delete a page such as this (however richly it deserves it) when there's such a long history of edits by users other than the sock. As far as I'm aware there's nothing to stop anyone from removing all and any content added by socks of blocked users, but AfD may be the better route. Several other pages created by the same sock probably need looking at too. Regards, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 21:15, 22 May 2022 (UTC)

@Justlettersandnumbers: OK, understood. I did have a reasonable look through the page histories and thought that my own and other editors' cleanup, tagging, removing unreliable sources etc. would not count as substantial edits. Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 21:19, 22 May 2022 (UTC)

New Page Patrol newsletter May 2022

New Page Review queue March 2022

Hello Curb Safe Charmer,

At the time of the last newsletter (No.26, September 2021), the backlog was 'only' just over 6,000 articles. In the past six months, the backlog has reached nearly 16,000, a staggering level not seen in several years. A very small number of users had been doing the vast majority of the reviews. Due to "burn-out", we have recently lost most of this effort. Furthermore, several reviewers have been stripped of the user right for abuse of privilege and the articles they patrolled were put back in the queue.

Several discussions on the state of the process have taken place on the talk page, but there has been no action to make any changes. The project also lacks coordination since the "position" is vacant.

In the last 30 days, only 100 reviewers have made more than 8 patrols and only 50 have averaged one review a day. There are currently 807 New Page Reviewers, but about a third have not had any activity in the past month. All 851 administrators have this permission, but only about a dozen significantly contribute to NPP.

This means we have an active pool of about 450 to address the backlog. We cannot rely on a few to do most of the work as that inevitably leads to burnout. A fairly experienced reviewer can usually do a review in a few minutes. If every active reviewer would patrol just one article per day, the backlog would very quickly disappear.

If you have noticed a user with a good understanding of Wikipedia notability and deletion, do suggest they help the effort by placing {{subst:NPR invite}} on their talk page.

If you are no longer very active on Wikipedia or you no longer wish to be part of the New Page Reviewer user group, please consider asking any admin to remove you from the list. This will enable NPP to have a better overview of its performance and what improvements need to be made to the process and its software.

Request on 09:55:17, 23 May 2022 for assistance on AfC submission by EndziEe

Hello! I wanted to make a page about a well known Tour Operator from the US. However it might have sounded like and advertisement which is not my goal! I could really use some help and guidance as to what I should change and/or add to make it more objective and informative. Also, I am not payed to do this, even though I got a lot of comments like that, it is actually a project that would help me with writing my Master's thesis. Thank you in advance! EndziEe (talk) 09:55, 23 May 2022 (UTC)

EndziEe (talk) 09:55, 23 May 2022 (UTC)

@EndziEe: hello! Welcome to Wikipedia. As the draft article about the tour operator has since been deleted I can't access it and I cannot remember what it contained. I see that the reason it was deleted was that an administrator considered it to be 'unambiguous advertising or promotion'. My recommendation is that rather than writing about a company, which is a difficult thing to do without using any promotional language, you instead start out by writing articles about other things that are easier, such as science (such as nature), geography (such as towns and cities), history (see Wikipedia:Contents/History and events for ideas]]). Rather than write a brand new article, you could expand an existing one instead. What's your master's thesis going to be about? Good luck! Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 13:24, 23 May 2022 (UTC)

hello, following your decline of article Diploma_mills_in_Switzerland from user Equyl and the subsequent animated discussion with SunDawn, I found myself pulled into List of unaccredited higher education institutions in Switzerland by a new user using very similar words. I would value some guidance as to how manage this, especially if a WP:MERGE would be needed. Many Thanks! PierreLsn (talk) 04:49, 15 June 2022 (UTC)

@Curb Safe Charmer: I am curious at your take as well. In my opinion, the whole article is WP:OR but I think I need more input. Thank you! ✠ SunDawn ✠ (contact) 08:05, 16 June 2022 (UTC)

help needed

Dear Curb Safe Charmer,

Hi

I wrote an entry on "meaningful leadership" which is a newly coined term in the literature. My entry was removed on logical grounds as I am working on this field. However, I do not know how to write about it as this may be removed again due to the same reason.

Draft:Meaningful Leadership

Here is the text

With the increasing studies on spirituality and meaningfulness, scientists have begun to examine inner calling and motivation sources of people. Throughout their life between work and home, people want to question the meaning of their life. This inquiry involves people's deep exploration of their true ideals, potentials, and their relationship with their daily life and their sacred beliefs. According to Viktor Frankl, it is a primary motivation for humans to seek meaning in their life. Thus, workplaces are supposed to help people find their calling and attain self-transcendence.

The focus on meaningfulness in the organization has led to formation of leadership on meaningfulness. For educational organizations, meaningful leadership can be described as a leadership that nurtures heightened awareness of life goals among others in the organization, which in turn strengthens and satisfies their own sense of meaningfulness. This model by Ahmet Göçen (2021) is based on ten dimensions: ultimate purpose in life, sharing meaning, understanding, linking the past-present and future, wisdom, peacefulness, a sense of ethics, serving others, inner motivation, and fostering unity. It can be said that meaning based leadership advocates creating superior awareness of purpose, unity of meaning, spiritual development, inner peace and wisdom in individuals and institutions.

Can you help me enter this topic to the wikipedia? you can add it well with neutral point of view or help me to put it again. Sorry to take your time.

Kindest Regards

Ahmet Ahmet0035 (talk) 23:07, 5 July 2022 (UTC)

@Ahmet0035: Wikipedia is not a place to publicise your ideas. Please read WP:NOTNEO and Wikipedia:No original research. You will need to add references that show that other reliable, independent publications have written in depth about the subject. Adding any further references where you are the author of the source or have heavily influenced the source will not help demonstrate notability. Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 10:33, 6 July 2022 (UTC)

Mentoring

Dear Curb Safe Charmer: I am looking for a mentor to help me develop Wikipedia skills. I am particularly interested in resolving disputes, improving references, and reducing articles with a lot of flab. Melchior2006 (talk) 18:36, 24 July 2022 (UTC)

@Melchior2006: hi. Thanks for your message. I think perhaps there's not much overlap between your areas of activity and mine, so it would probably be better if you approached another mentor, especially as I've been less active on Wikipedia just recently through pressure of work followed by holidays. I hope you don't mind. Good luck! Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 16:20, 26 July 2022 (UTC)
OK, thanks anyway. Melchior2006 (talk) 18:44, 26 July 2022 (UTC)

New Page Patrol newsletter August 2022

New Page Review queue August 2022

Hello Curb Safe Charmer,

Backlog status

After the last newsletter (No.28, June 2022), the backlog declined another 1,000 to 13,000 in the last week of June. Then the July backlog drive began, during which 9,900 articles were reviewed and the backlog fell by 4,500 to just under 8,500 (these numbers illustrate how many new articles regularly flow into the queue). Thanks go to the coordinators Buidhe and Zippybonzo, as well as all the nearly 100 participants. Congratulations to Dr vulpes who led with 880 points. See this page for further details.

Unfortunately, most of the decline happened in the first half of the month, and the backlog has already risen to 9,600. Understandably, it seems many backlog drive participants are taking a break from reviewing and unfortunately, we are not even keeping up with the inflow let alone driving it lower. We need the other 600 reviewers to do more! Please try to do at least one a day.

Coordination
MB and Novem Linguae have taken on some of the coordination tasks. Please let them know if you are interested in helping out. MPGuy2824 will be handling recognition, and will be retroactively awarding the annual barnstars that have not been issued for a few years.
Open letter to the WMF
The Page Curation software needs urgent attention. There are dozens of bug fixes and enhancements that are stalled (listed at Suggested improvements). We have written a letter to be sent to the WMF and we encourage as many patrollers as possible to sign it here. We are also in negotiation with the Board of Trustees to press for assistance. Better software will make the active reviewers we have more productive.
TIP - Reviewing by subject
Reviewers who prefer to patrol new pages by their most familiar subjects can do so from the regularly updated sorted topic list.
New reviewers
The NPP School is being underused. The learning curve for NPP is quite steep, but a detailed and easy-to-read tutorial exists, and the Curation Tool's many features are fully described and illustrated on the updated page here.
Reminders
  • Consider staying informed on project issues by putting the project discussion page on your watchlist.
  • If you have noticed a user with a good understanding of Wikipedia notability and deletion, suggest they help the effort by placing {{subst:NPR invite}} on their talk page.
  • If you are no longer very active on Wikipedia or you no longer wish to be part of the New Page Reviewer user group, please consider asking any admin to remove you from the list. This will enable NPP to have a better overview of its performance and what improvements need to be made to the process and its software.

"Democrat Party" v "Democratic Party"

Yes, individual members of the party are called Democrats, but the party itself is not named "Democrat Party". It is called "Democratic Party". "Democrat Party" is considered a pejorative or epithet in the US. Please see Democrat Party (epithet) for more information about this. 331dot (talk) 11:01, 9 August 2022 (UTC)

Why did you delete my Draft:Pasha Travel?

I'm not sure why you think this page is promotional.

Could you at least restore the draft so that I can edit further? I don't have any backup files. Vorosvictor (talk) 08:45, 9 August 2022 (UTC)

@Vorosvictor: I didn't delete it - on Wikipedia, only administrators can delete things. In this case, it was Anthony Bradbury that deleted the draft, and he judged that it was unambiguous advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia. As I am not an administrator, I am unable to restore a deleted draft. Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 09:16, 9 August 2022 (UTC)
