2011 Oslo attacks

Why did you place a move lock? I think a move lock is uncalled for at this point, there is no move war, and in recent events the title of the event can change quickly. I have some experience editing these kinds of articles, I was mentioned in the Annual report for my GA contributions to the Mumbai attacks article... However, if you are doing a move lock, at least lock the talk page too (ie cascade).--Cerejota (talk) 18:33, 22 July 2011 (UTC)

To prevent page move vandalism while it's on the main page? Hot Stop talk-contribs 18:34, 22 July 2011 (UTC)
That and to stop back-and-forth moves. In articles on current events, especially the ones that start "2011 Somewhere something", people seem to feel the urgent need to move the page without using the talk page, which risks creating double redirects and all sorts of other headaches (including admins having to keep up with the new title to adjust the link on the Main Page). Because of that, it's fairly common to move-protect articles on ITN (and TFAs are are always move-protected), especially the "2011 Somewhere something" titles. It doesn't mean you can't move it, just that you have to get consensus first (which you should do anyway). HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 19:16, 22 July 2011 (UTC)

Reply on WP:ITN edit summary "that picture is just a nondescript building." Though not immediately obvious, this is actually an image of the immediate aftermath of the explosion by someone who happened to be across a few blocks from the site at the time of the attacks. If you look closely, almost all the windows of the building are actually destroyed. --hydrox (talk) 20:01, 22 July 2011 (UTC)

I hadn't noticed that, but even at the resolution on the description page it's not immediately noticeable, so we have no hope at 100x100px. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 20:06, 22 July 2011 (UTC)

Then please patrol for legit change requests. If you are preventative disenfranchising editors without admin tools, at least have their back for legit edits! :) Its clear that the article should be moved to 2011 Norway attacks, because the main attack was not in Oslo, just the first chronologically.--Cerejota (talk) 20:55, 22 July 2011 (UTC)

Done, since there's an emerging consensus on the talk page. Any help cleaning this up would be appreciated. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 21:51, 22 July 2011 (UTC)

Dude, you got to the doubles first, I only got two in... and thanks for doing this it was non-controversial so no need for consensus... its snowy unlike the weather here in NYC...--Cerejota (talk) 21:57, 22 July 2011 (UTC)

Capitalization for song titles

Hey, can you move I'm Holdin' On to Love (To Save My Life) to I'm Holdin' on to Love (to Save My Life), and Come On Over (Shania Twain song) to Come on Over (Shania Twain song) and Thank You Baby! (For Makin' Someday Come So Soon) to Thank You Baby! (for Makin' Someday Come So Soon). Also, do you if "From This Moment On" should be "From This Moment on" or if "Send It On" should be "Send It on"? I really don't know because O think it isn't acting as a preposition in the title and therefore it should be capitalized. If my theory is true, then what would it be acting as? Thank you  :) -- ipodnano05 * leave@message 22:02, 23 July 2011 (UTC)

I've done "Come on Over", since that was uncontroversial. I'm going to say you need a consensus for the others, though, preferably somewhere central like a wikiproject or an MoS talk page. I don't think they're uncontroversial—an argument could be made that the first word in the parentheses should be capitalised, so you should get a consensus for one form or the other so that they don't have to be moved again (which makes a mess). It wouldn't be proper for me to use the admin tools to move the remainder until there's a consensus for a move. Sorry. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 00:18, 24 July 2011 (UTC)
It's O.K. I totally respect that and actually had no idea that could be argued. Thank you for moving "Come on Over". As for "From This Moment On" and "Send It On" what do you think? And does Wikipedia:Article titles seem like the proper place to start the discussion? -- ipodnano05 * leave@message 04:15, 24 July 2011 (UTC)
As long as you leave notes on other relevant talk pages, it doesn't really matter where you start the discussion. If it were me, I would title them "Send it On" and "From this Moment On"—I would tend to capitalise "on", but I don't know enough about naming conventions for songs to call it an informed opinion. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 17:11, 24 July 2011 (UTC)
"It" and "This" are pronouns and should be capitalized. Anyways, thank you. :) -- ipodnano05 * leave@message 19:25, 24 July 2011 (UTC)

Does this mean you're back, my friend? HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 17:14, 24 July 2011 (UTC)
Yeah, I'm back. :) I snuck in the backdoor, so most haven't noticed...yet. :) I will be at sub-gnome capacity for awhile, but updating pages at the same speed as before, in between catching up on old NCIS episodes. :) - NeutralhomerTalk • 17:31, 24 July 2011 (UTC)
Well it's good to have you back, though posting on the 33rd most-watched user talk page might not be the best way of keeping a low profile. ;) I haven't seen any NCIS for a while. They seem to play the "new" ones (ie the ones you saw last year or the year before!) so infrequently here, and the recorder on my digibox keeps picking up re-runs. I might have to invest in some DVD box sets. What made you come back, anyway? HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 17:39, 24 July 2011 (UTC)
I recommend the box sets or just a few torrents. :) The reason, well, I seen alot of my pages out of sorts, completely messed up or just out of date and nothing drives me insane more than work that is messed up. So I had to fix it. So I came back and that is what I am doing, just quietly. But people are seeing that I am back, so it is only a matter of time before the whole Wiki knows, it's cool. :) How have you been these past two months? - NeutralhomerTalk • 05:55, 25 July 2011 (UTC)

Help!

A little gift :P

Hi HJ! :) What's up? Well, I came here to ask your help copyediting an article I have recently expanded and nominated for GA status, Agustín Ross Cultural Center. I put a lot of effort yesterday finding some sources for this building, and it seems like there aren't many on the net... I have a book on the topic called Hombres y cosas de Pichilemu but I don't have it anywhere near me (it's in another town)... I think I went out of the topic here. :P Can you please do that? Thank you in advance! :)  Diego  talk  16:11, 24 July 2011 (UTC)

...any chance? If you can't that's fine with me.  Diego  talk  00:37, 25 July 2011 (UTC)

Birds

Against my better judgement, I am taking on the people who insist that birds are not dinosaurs. I need to know who at the Wikipedia foundation I should contact about a clear violation of the Wikipedia policy on due weight. Can you give me a pointer to the correct people? Thank you, Nick Beeson (talk) 02:02, 27 July 2011 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) I looked at the thread in question here, and from what I can discern, the users that responded don't necessarily agree with Feduccia, they're just saying he's a well respected scientist and should be included in Wikipedia. Also, have a look at this page again. Weasel words and other words included on that page are not to be used directly in an article; however, Wikipedia's articles are written using sources from well respected people of that field (whether it be paleontology, history, science, etc). It is a fact that Feduccia is a well-respected scientist, even by those who disagree with him. It is possible to disagree with a person and still respect their view.
In regard to the "undue weight" issue, per this page, which you provided a link to above, "Neutrality requires that each article or other page in the mainspace fairly represents all significant viewpoints that have been published by reliable sources, in proportion to the prominence of each viewpoint. Giving due weight and avoiding giving undue weight means that articles should not give minority views as much of or as detailed a description as more widely held views." The minority view that birds did not evolve from dinosaurs had only a paragraph, while the majority view that birds did evolve from dinosaurs had several paragraphs. Since the minority view that birds did not evolve from dinosaurs was not presented as thoroughly as the majority view that birds did evolve from dinosaurs, there is no undue weight issue here. Finally, if you look back at the thread (linked above) Dinoguy2 stated that he/she did disagree with Feduccia, but that Feduccia still must be represented in the article, as Wikipedia's articles must represent "...all significant viewpoints that have been published by reliable sources, in proportion to the prominence of each viewpoint."
To recap, Feduccia's viewpoint was represented fairly in the article because, as opposed to the many paragraphs written on the most accepted viewpoint, only one paragraph was written on Feduccia's viewpoint. I hope this helps. The UtahraptorTalk/Contribs 02:45, 27 July 2011 (UTC)

TdF at ITN

Thanks for the (long-overdue-but-not-your-fault) reversal of the overlinking in that blurb. Could I ask you to attend to the other issue made more than once at ITN/C, that the link to the race is hidden behind the word becomes, although the article is not primarily about Evans becoming the winner. I'd really suggest the proposed blurb that was at ITN/C all along. Thanks. Kevin McE (talk) 13:17, 28 July 2011 (UTC)

India City Article Naming Conventions

Do you know of any long-standing policy page regarding how city articles should be named within India? Recently, one editor created Wikipedia:Naming conventions (India) which seemed to merely cite his own views on how such articles should be named; he is, for all intents and purposes, the sole main contributor to the policy, making it his own personal views he is citing when trying to do page moves. It recently came to AN/I but I ended up closing it because he posted on another page that he was leaving Wikipedia. He's since returned and I'm debating reopening it. At the same time, I have looked at the "policy" and think maybe he's going a bit far with pushing his personal views, and we need to do a better job getting more involved editors in to give their opinions and write such a policy (and if they all agree, then so be it, it becomes a policy). What do you think? CycloneGU (talk) 15:02, 28 July 2011 (UTC)

I'm afraid I've no idea. However, that document is not a policy at the minute, and won't be a policy or guideline until it has a consensus in an RfC. I notice there's an MfD going on, so it might be best to confine discussion to that venue for the time being so we don't end up with multiple discussions in different places. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 15:14, 28 July 2011 (UTC)
Yeah, I noticed the MfD and even the original complainant voted Keep hoping (presumably) that we can salvage something out of this. Taking his lead I also voted for a Keep instead of just "Trash and Start Over". =D CycloneGU (talk) 15:38, 28 July 2011 (UTC)

Mischa Barton

Hi HJ. As a certified member of the group in question, can you take a look at the discussion at Talk:Mischa Barton#Nationality. There's some disagreement as to how she should be described in the opening sentence, centering around the question of to what extent the terms "British" and "English" refer to nationality as opposed to ethnicity. Even if you don't want to get involved in the discussion there, I'd appreciate your comments here or on my talk page, sort of for future reference since I get confused by those fine distinctions anyway. I have no idea, but thank you! I'm so glad Transity was there to help. I could barely keep up with all the edits, let alone warn all the users involved. I accidentally blanked the article at one point, as I got all confused about what was going on. - JuneGloom Talk 00:57, 31 July 2011 (UTC)
Dear oh dear. I've not seen anything like that, aside from 4chan nonsense, for ages. How did you stumble across that? I was just having a look at the recent changes page, when I noticed the article kept appearing on every refresh. Hi Mitchell. I'm dealing with a disruptive and difficult editor. I could use your assistance. I have already reverted 3 times, so I'm stuck. Topic Ban Proposal Timeframe

No, this isn't about a topic ban against me. =P

What I would like to know is, when a topic ban is proposed against someone, what's the minimum timeframe for the proposal to be open before a consensus can be enacted? I've been assisting Zachariel with his proposal against MakeSense64 at AN and have added my own observations as an uninvolved editor in the subject area (though by now I might be considered involved having given an opinion), and without me even !voting on the proposal, am already witnessing a 6-0 tally with explanations on each !vote in support of the topic ban. I saw something about a 48 hour minimum for something at AN/I once, and am trying to remember if it was this type of proposal. Anything you can point me to? =)

If it's already long enough (and it is close to 48h as well), could you evaluate whether it's a good enough consensus and enact a ban if appropriate? CycloneGU (talk) 01:26, 3 August 2011 (UTC)

It's not hard and fast. I think 48 hours is usually considered the minimum, but given you only have a handful of comments, any admin considering closing it might be waiting for more comments. Unless there's a need to implement something immediately, there's generally no harm in letting the discussion run its course, even if it takes a little while. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 01:33, 3 August 2011 (UTC)
Indeed, it's not a quick thing that needs to be done. The only possible concern is that he still periodically edits astrology-related articles; for instance, his last edit today was to a Zodiac article, which is astrology-related. Thus, since he's still editing in the area, my only fear now is that he sees the results and decides to go on a spree doing whatever he wants until the ban is enacted. Granted that would cause worse problems for him, so I presume he's sensible enough not to do that...but Mick did that recently pending an ArbCom decision and got someone else in hot water for blocking him for it. I'm not one for taking chances in such circumstances, but I agree MakeSense64 isn't a heavy editor (seems to visit once a day) and thus my concerns might be misplaced. CycloneGU (talk) 02:04, 3 August 2011 (UTC)

I disagree with your decision to restore personal attacks to Mbz1's Talk page.[3] Referring to User:Tarc and User:Roscelese as trolls is not an appropriate use of a user Talk page, especially when the user is blocked. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 03:53, 3 August 2011 (UTC)

I agree on this one, Mbz1 asked for an indef block in exchange for her block log being RevDel'd by RD22. She violated that agreement quickly, and was reblocked without the talk access [4].
If she's actually going to leave Wikipedia, that's fine. However, if she still wants to be able to take shots at other editors and admins she bears a grudge against, either her talk page should be locked, or she should be unblocked and her block log reinstated. If she wants to still be able to use a page for positive comments from editors, there's no reason to ban the many editors she's had problems with from the page.
With all due respect, either she's here or she's not. She shouldn't be sockpuppeting as an IP to continue her attacks, and she shouldn't be able to have an admin enforce her will on a page she's been blocked from. Dayewalker (talk) 04:23, 3 August 2011 (UTC)
I've been saying roughly the same to her by email, but she strongly objects to either Malik or Tarc posting on her talk page, much less archiving it. Just about everything and everyone else is fair game. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 12:41, 3 August 2011 (UTC)

I assumed you wouldn't mind

I undid the indef protection at WT:SIG; an IP editor wants to start a thread there. If the spammers/vandals rediscover the page, it's easy to re-protect. Why in the world was that page such a stupidity magnet? --Floquenbeam (talk) 04:13, 3 August 2011 (UTC)

Adding to comments elsewhere, I'd also like to encourage you to think about running for coord in September (in which case we'll dump all the closures on you that you can handle!) Best, EyeSerenetalk 17:44, 3 August 2011 (UTC)

Not at all. I just thought I'd offer in case the coords were over-stretched, but it seems everything's under control. A few people have mentioned coordship to me, so I think I'll put my hat in the ring when the election comes around. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 18:00, 3 August 2011 (UTC)
That's excellent news :) EyeSerenetalk 19:26, 3 August 2011 (UTC)
Any idea when the election process will start? HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 19:41, 3 August 2011 (UTC)
September I think (the last was September 2010 when the coord term was changed from six months to one year). The page to watchlist should be Wikipedia:WikiProject Military history/Coordinators/September 2011, assuming we start on time. The link will be spammed all over the project anyway. If you want to look at previous elections they're archived here, and there's some FAQ-type stuff here. EyeSerenetalk 20:31, 3 August 2011 (UTC)
Thanks, I'll look over that. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 21:34, 3 August 2011 (UTC)

More revdel requests...

Not sure, but I think all these should qualify:

TIA. Fat&Happy (talk) 21:01, 3 August 2011 (UTC)

Yup. Look like you've made a new friend! ;) Just for future reference, RevDel requests, especially for that sort of thing, should be handled quietly by email rather than publicly. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 21:06, 3 August 2011 (UTC)
Wow, that was quick; I barely had time to refresh my watch list and they showed up...
I've seen comments before about using email, but I've never looked at how to do emails within Wikipedia, and to be honest I don't understand the "why" of it. As soon as the revdel is completed the links become meaningless, so all the email seems to do is prevent a couple of TPSs from seeing the offending post in the interim, while preventing any of those same TPSs who are admins from fixing it when you're not around, as happened yesterday with a couple. What am I missing here? Fat&Happy (talk) 21:35, 3 August 2011 (UTC)
The idea is that as few people as possible, especially where there are privacy issues, should see the content of the diffs. If you post it here, any of the 360-odd people who watch this page, plus anyone who happens to glance at it before me, can see it. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 21:51, 3 August 2011 (UTC)

Brosnan

Hi, Just wondering why you put a protection on Pierce Brosnan. We have had almost no vandalsim of late. thanks Span (talk) 10:22, 4 August 2011 (UTC)

It seems to come and go in dribs and drabs, but there have been next to no helpful IP edits for months. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 10:49, 4 August 2011 (UTC)
No more than usual. There's have few bad faith edits. Surely the default is to have open access unless there has been untoward levels of vandalism. Span (talk) 12:25, 4 August 2011 (UTC)

An arbitration case regarding MickMacNee (talk · contribs) has now closed and the final decision is viewable at the link above. The following remedies have been enacted:

  1. MickMacNee is banned from Wikipedia for a period of no less than one year. After this minimum time has elapsed, MickMacNee will remain banned indefinitely, until such time as he demonstrates to the Committee that he is no longer a threat to the collaborative nature of the project.
  2. Δ (talk · contribs) is admonished for engaging in hostile and uncollegial conduct, and warned that the Committee may impose additional sanctions by motion if such conduct reoccurs.

Any stalkers about?

If anybody has any ideas for getting rid of that massive gap between the barnstars on my userpage, I'd be grateful. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 19:52, 4 August 2011 (UTC)

Lemme take a look. Stand by. - NeutralhomerTalk • 19:56, 4 August 2011 (UTC)
Fixed. I had to rebuild two barnstars. Their custom coding was goofing things up. There is one slight problem. I was using Vector and the page was all kinds of goofed up. It had the flag OVER the WikiGlobe, and parts of the page everywhere. Should we do something about that or leave as-is? - NeutralhomerTalk • 20:22, 4 August 2011 (UTC)
It doesn't look bad to me when I log out. There's a bit of overlap between a few parts of it, and we've tried to sort the flag out, but everything that works in Monobook doesn't work in Vector, but otherwise it looks alright. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 20:49, 4 August 2011 (UTC)
And thanks, btw, I appreciate the help! On another note, I watched the first few episodes of NCIS: Los Angeles today. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 20:51, 4 August 2011 (UTC)
Okie Dokie, as long as it looks good for you, that works for me. :) Really? How'd your like the show? I think it is a more hi-tech version of NCIS. NCIS, has the interviews and pounding the pavement with the science and tech; NCIS: LA has the all tech, all the time, super spies and all kinds of neat stuff, but little on the interviews and pavement pounding. - NeutralhomerTalk • 00:40, 6 August 2011 (UTC)
It's not bad telly, but NCIS is better imo. There's something more realistic about it, and it's funnier. Still, I've only watched the first few episodes so far, so I'll reserve full judgement. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 13:26, 6 August 2011 (UTC)
It takes the first full season for all the characters to be brought out. Season 2 is even better and the Season 2 finale is AWESOME. Season 3 (which starts for us on September 20) is going to be excellent! - NeutralhomerTalk • 21:34, 6 August 2011 (UTC)

Autopatrol rights feedback - User:Arfaz

Hi HJ, I'm not sure if feedback on the later misdeeds of autopatrolled users is useful or not, but just in case, a note that User:Arfaz, whom you granted autopatrolled rights, has been indefinitely blocked for repeated copyvio and failure to respond to concerns about it. (CCI open at Wikipedia:Contributor copyright investigations/Arfaz, very large unfortunately). Presumably no other action is required, since they're blocked, though. --Demiurge1000 (talk) 18:46, 6 August 2011 (UTC)

Feedback on something I did eight months ago isn't especially useful, and there were no indications of problems at the time—I'm guessing that was one I granted from the database reports, and talk page notices about copyvios/dodgy image uploads were something I specifically checked for. But it's interesting to know these things, so thanks. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 18:58, 6 August 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for the protect. Just a note though, putting the RfD tag underneath the redirect line makes the template fail to appear on the page, and readers bypass it instead of being alerted to the existance of the discussion. I'll move it back to the top, hope you don't mind me editing through protection, but one of the key issues is that because people kept removing the RfD tag, other editors were unaware of the existing discussion and debate on the topic. Regards, --Taelus (talk) 21:18, 6 August 2011 (UTC)

Plus it was missing a } too. Perhaps that was why it was broken. Eh, either way I think its fixed now. Thanks, --Taelus (talk) 21:19, 6 August 2011 (UTC)
Fair enough. Moving it below the redirect markup breaks the functionality of the redirect, but I guess we have to decide which is the lesser of the two evils. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 21:26, 6 August 2011 (UTC)

Hey HJ, hope you're doing well. I was wondering if you could copyedit Metamorphosis for me; I've been working on it for the past while trying to get it ready to take it to GA. It looks pretty good to me, but I'm sure there's probably some errors (maybe even more than some). I also opened up a peer review, if you'd rather just review some things there. I'd really appreciate it.

Also, I'd like it if you posted a talkback message on my page. Thanks you, nding·start 05:50, 5 August 2011 (UTC)

Alright, I'll take a look. Does it need a fine-toothed comb or just a quick polish? And is there anything in particular you want me to look at? Funny, I haven't really noticed Hilary Duff for years. I didn't even know she was a singer, but I'm not surprised—every American child actress seems to end up releasing an album and the record companies don't seem too bothered about whether they can actually sing! But I haven't heard Hilary, so I can't judge. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 21:46, 5 August 2011 (UTC)
A fine-toothed comb would be great. LOL, it's all about the money really. It's still me, Ending-start, I'm just on an old account I had before I created that one to start fresh because I have requested a username change, and I read that if I'm logged into it it might mess up it up. Zacharee (talk) 22:04, 5 August 2011 (UTC)
I'll see what I can do for you. Yeah, apparently if you're logged in when the rename goes through, your edits don't transfer properly, and you end up with two lists of contribs for one editor (and you have to get a developer to sort it out, and they're busy with things like keeping the wiki running, so I can't imagine they're too impressed!). HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 22:20, 5 August 2011 (UTC)
Okay, thanks for letting me know. Hope nobody gets mad at me for using this account. LOL. Oh well, I won't be doing anything to drastic, and it redirects to my new one anyways. And thanks for helping with the review! :) Zacharee (talk) 22:27, 5 August 2011 (UTC)
No worries. And you're clearly the same person, so there shouldn't be any problems with the accounts. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 22:29, 5 August 2011 (UTC)
Looks like they take a couple of days to do it anyways, so I think I'm good for right now. :) nding·start 22:29, 5 August 2011 (UTC)

How to have the closure of a RfC formally reviewed

Given I am unhappy with the closure of Wikipedia:Requests for comment/Bureaucrat removal of adminship policy, how do I go about requesting a formal review since it looks like User:Chzz is not willing to budge? Mtking (edits) 02:48, 7 August 2011 (UTC)

There isn't a formal procedure. You should try to resolve your differences with Chzz first (you could start by explaining to him what they are, or how you would have closed it), and then you can start a discussion at WP:AN, but I don't know whether it will get you what you seek. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 03:14, 7 August 2011 (UTC)
Your close of Sec. 4 of the above was excellent, and a superb example of understanding consensus against democracy. Thank you, and (appologies if this seems patronising - it's not intended to be) well done. Pedro :  Chat  19:56, 7 August 2011 (UTC)
Thanks, and no, not patronising at all. I think it's a good example of the major flaw of straw polls over discussion—in this case, the idea needed more refinement before being put to a vote and people were more concerned with potentially massive loopholes in the policy than with the principle of desysopping in a genuine emergency. Marinid dynasty and other articles

See here, here, and my talk page. It's an ongoing issue. You, me, Dabomb87 and Ioeth have protected at least 1 of Marinid dynasty, Almoravid dynasty, Almohad caliphate and Saadi dynasty. We should probably deal with it more seriously. Please reply here or on my talk page as to what you think we should do. - Penwhale | dance in the air and follow his steps 05:55, 8 August 2011 (UTC)

I haven't got a clue. As far as I could work out, there were various IPs and one registered user edit warring over "Moroccan" vs. "North African". Not quite the pettiest thing I've seen edit-warred over, but probably in the top 20. So I just slapped a few days of full protection on the articles at RfPP. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 11:24, 8 August 2011 (UTC)
My instinct is to apply long-term semi-protection to the articles in question to prevent abuse from anonymous editors and then start blocking the registered edit warriors for increasing durations. If the edit warring keeps up, we can apply and then move on to enforcing 1RR on the articles along with making CheckUser requests if/when socking is suspected. "tell other Greek users of this interference, so we can stop the Bulgarian POV"

I see you blocked a few days ago AngBent. Could you take a look here (posted after two failed attempts here and here). Thank you. --Pylambert (talk) 07:06, 8 August 2011 (UTC)

I'm not sure what I can do of use there, it's not an area I'm familiar with. I only blocked them because I happened to notice (via WP:RFPP) that they were edit-warring over several articles at the same time. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 11:29, 8 August 2011 (UTC)

HJMitchell, please ignore Pylambert's insidious attempt to censor me. You did block me previously, but I didn't protest, because I understood your desire to be fair, and respected the fact that you also blocked the other side to stop the edit warring. I urge you to look at my contributions and those of Pylambert. And note that Pylambert NEVER tried to start a discussion with me; instead he has been hurling racist insults, calling me a "typical Greek chauvinist vandal". I don't want to involve you in issues you're not familiar with or waste your time, but my edits aim at the best possible depiction of historical reality. And perhaps you should tell Pylambert he should believe in the value of a discussion

AngBent (talk) 13:59, 8 August 2011 (UTC)AngBent

With the greatest respect, I'm going to decline to get involved in this. Breaking up an edit war is one thing, but this is something that needs the attention of admins more experienced in this area. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 14:32, 8 August 2011 (UTC)

FYI

As an FYI, the implications of a recent closure you have undertaken are briefly discussed here. –xenotalk 13:49, 8 August 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for the heads up. Good to see that someone took up my suggestion of further discussion—it seems to me that particular proposal moved to a straw poll without much refinement of the idea, which is where a lot opposition came from. Regarding deleted articles

Hello mate, I've got a quick one here. How can I recreate a deleted article which does not allow me to do so, recently been deleted following a descussion, but; having validation to be recreated now.
