maintenance tags

I notice that in this edit, you removed the {{use dmy dates}} tag, which is used to indicate the date format to be displayed in the article. It is not visible in display mode, and potentially facilitates future maintenance to keep date formats consistent and should therefore not be removed. Thanks for your attention. --Ohconfucius ¡digame! 01:37, 3 May 2012 (UTC)

Of course that he is a Hungarian historical figure, but now he has no article any more. Say thank you for its deletion to your friend Nmate LOL 79.117.184.94 (talk) 07:41, 3 June 2012 (UTC)

Another sample of Nmate's behaviour: [1] (he eliminated from the article the phrase about the siege of Szamosújvár, Dobo istvan's portrait - File:Dobo istvan.jpg and the photo of Dobó István's statue in Eger: File:Dobo Istvan Statue01.JPG) 79.117.210.62 (talk) 16:43, 3 June 2012 (UTC)
Fixed. --Norden1990 (talk) 17:00, 3 June 2012 (UTC)
Good. But you forgot to add File:Dobo Istvan Statue01.JPG 79.117.210.62 (talk) 17:02, 3 June 2012 (UTC)
This article is too short for two images. --Norden1990 (talk) 17:03, 3 June 2012 (UTC)
Yes, that might be true. However it has potential to be expanded 79.117.210.62 (talk) 17:20, 3 June 2012 (UTC)

Horvats

Hello! I used the Croatian family name because it is used by English language sources. English language historians tend to call the brothers John and Paul (much like Hungarians refer to Ban Stjepan II as István). The family name Horvat is also more commony used than Horváti - why, I don't know, but en.wiki should adhere to WP:Use English. Surtsicna (talk) 21:01, 24 June 2012 (UTC)

Well, compare, for example, the 10 book search results for John Horvat with 1 book search result for Janos Horvati or 5 book search results for Paul Horvat with 0 book search results for Pal Horvati. It clearly shows which name is preferred in English language sources. Surtsicna (talk) 21:23, 24 June 2012 (UTC)
There, I cited my two favourite and most relevant. Surtsicna (talk) 21:38, 24 June 2012 (UTC)

Feel free to correct the article! :) Surtsicna (talk) 10:28, 25 June 2012 (UTC)

You may see who Iaaasi is

Whether you knew that the Ip user who asked you to manage to restore the article Mihály Szilágyi was Iaaasi [2] or not...

  • You have gotten a mallicious attack behind your back from him :[3] i.e. Iaaasi wanted to achieve that a Wikipedia:ARBEE notification be given to you after which you can easily be blocked from editing.

I am 100% sure that this Ip user is Iaaasi, but I do not actually know how he did this. Perhaps he can clone or forge ip addresses.

According to "Ip2 location. com", the Ip 202.117.4.226 is from Peking [4]. However, if you take a glance at the sources said Ip user gave to the article Jan Jesenius, the google books display characters used in the Romanian alphabet such as [5] [6] :"Din interiorul cărţii" , "Ce spun oamenii - Scrieţi o recenzie".

Also, from this message can be seen here [7] that it is highly unlikely that this user is from China.

Furthermore, there is a blocked meatpuppet of Iaaasi, User:Daccono , who also wanted to manage a similar WP:DIGWUREN warning in the past to User:Hobartimus too here[8] and here [9].--Nmate (talk) 09:35, 15 July 2012 (UTC)

László Csizsik-Csatáry

I've placed a responce in regards to your claim on non-neutrality in this article. If you'd care to respond, we can get the article straightened out to some form of consensus and get the template removed. I feel that it would be well-warranted to put some more effort into this article due to the man's recent detainment and the current/new investigation on death-penalty-level war crimes charges. Solti infobox

Hello, I note your recent addition to the above article and thank you for your interest. However, the edit you conducted is subject to a discussion which I am sure you are aware of and has therefore been deleted. An addition of an infobox will have to be considered as and when a consensus is reached. -- CassiantoTalk 12:18, 28 July 2012 (UTC)

Okay, I apologize, I did not notice the discussion about the infobox. I thought that was removed by an act of vandalism. --Norden1990 (talk) 13:09, 28 July 2012 (UTC)
No worries at all. Infobox disputes are unfortunately becoming ever more prevelent and it seems the divide is evenly matched. I'm sure this will be a topic of discussion across WP for many years to come. Happy editing! -- CassiantoTalk 13:16, 28 July 2012 (UTC)

Help with translation

Hello Norden, I would like to ask you to tranlsate the following into English

Doncsecztalk 17:14, 9 September 2012 (UTC)

Hello Norden1990 I have a very special question and hope you know some more about Eleonora Countess ANDRÁSSY nee Countess ZICHY to give me an answer.

The famous Austrian writer and editor Karl KRAUS wrote in "Weltgericht", tom II, in February, 1918:

Aber was macht denn die Gräfin Julius Andrassy im Spital in Budapest? Sie läßt sich photographieren, während sie verklärten Blickes einem anscheinend den besseren Ständen angehörenden Helden einen Löffel Medizin verabreicht, den er mit zager Hand und im Vollgefühl der Situation gerührt entgegennimmt? Warum tut sie das, die Samariterin? Warum hat sie dem Photographen nicht gesagt, er möge warten, bis der Patient die Medizin genommen habe?

It is not important what but about whom Karl KRAUS wrote and where the described and ridiculed press photograph was taken: Eleonora Maria Rudolfina Countess ANDRÁSSY nee Countess ZICHY as nurse in an Austro-Hungarian military hospital (in second matrimony wife of the last Imperial Austro-Hungarian foreign minister Gyula Count ANDRÁSSY the younger).

From my grandfather I inherited a similar photograph: a skull surgery, performed in May 1915 in the Imperial Austrian field hospital Nr. 7/9 in Zakliczyn, Galicia (now Poland). The acting persons are Austrian medical officers and sergeants and - as my father told me and his father told him - a Countess ANDRÁSSY as surgery nurse. If it is Countess Eleonora ANDRÁSSY, she must have been 19 years older than on Joszef RIPPL-RONAI's painting (48 versus 29 years of age) but I think there is a striking similarity. I would like to send you the photograph and to get your comment on my assumption.

Sincerely, Peredwin Peredwin (talk) 09:04, 12 November 2012 (UTC)

Magyars vs. Hungarians

I think you were right. The name "Hungarian" had to appear before the Christian state. Take a look at this Talk:Hungarian_prehistory/Archive_3#Hungarians_before_9th_century (Péter Király's opinion). Those sources are more than interesting. It can also correspond with this (from page of Hungarian people): "The exonym "Hungarian" is thought to be derived from the Bulgar-Turkic On-Ogur (meaning "ten" Ogurs), which was the name of the Utigur Bulgar tribal confederacy that ruled the eastern parts of Hungary after the Avars, and prior to the arrival of Magyars. The Hungarians must have belonged to the Onogur tribal alliance and it is quite possible they became its ethnic majority. In the Early Middle Ages the Hungarians had many different names, such as "Ungar" (in German) or "Hungarus"."

I think it does not mean that all of the sources referred to the Magyars in Király's study because the records could have been easily about the "ethnic Onogurs", but a couple of them certainly meant "ethnic Magyar". Fakirbakir (talk) 00:02, 29 January 2013 (UTC)

Hungarian people SEMATICS and REALITY

About the folklore & landscape pictures

The Hungarian People article doesn't talks about the present-day Hungarian Republic or Hungarian state (or its modern state-borders), but it talks about an ethnic group, the Hungarians. Forexample many minorities live between the borders of modern Hungarian state (Germans Serbs Slovaks Croatians etc..), but this article is about Hungarian people as ethnic group. The origin of buildings in modern Romania modern Slovakia etc.. are not relates to the culture of Slovak people, Serbian or Romanian (Vlach) people (which refer to etchnic groups) These medieval catholic Romanesque Gothic and Renaissance buildings are styles of the Western (catholic - protestant) World, and they aren't related to the culture Orthodox Romanian or Serbian people too... Keep in mind: Just because the borders were changed after the WW I in 1920, the old history and the old past (the cultural history or the history of these medieval and early modern buildings) did not changed. For Adrian and Iadrian yu: Interestingly, the Hungarians have never claimed that the orthodox early-modern and medieval wooden-churches monastries of Vlachs are Hungarian churches.--Relevater (talk) 14:04, 26 February 2013 (UTC)

Your deletions of media reactions from the Viktor Orban entry

The additions to the Viktor Orbán in the media section were every bit as much about Viktor Orban in the media as the portion that preceded them. There are hence no grounds for deleting them. There is mounting controversy about Viktor Orban in the media. The right thing to do is to present both sides, but not to delete the growing manifestations of controversy. There is a very serious historic moment for Hungary, and openness is crucial. Stevan Harnad 16:26, 11 March 2013 (UTC) User:Harnad Harnad (talk

Notice of Dispute resolution discussion

Hello. This message is being sent to inform you that there is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Dispute resolution noticeboard regarding a content dispute in which you may have been involved. Content disputes can hold up article development, therefore we are requesting your participation to help find a resolution. The thread is "Constitution of_Hungary".

Guide for participants

If you wish to open a DR/N filing, click the "Request dispute resolution" button below this guide or go to Wikipedia:Dispute resolution noticeboard/request for an easy to follow, step by step request form.

What this noticeboard is:
  • It is an early step to resolve content disputes after talk page discussions have stalled. If it's something we can't help you with, or is too complex to resolve here, our volunteers will point you in the right direction.
What this noticeboard is not:
  • It is not a place to deal with the behavior of other editors. We deal with disputes about article content, not disputes about user conduct.
  • It is not a place to discuss disputes that are already under discussion at other dispute resolution forums.
  • It is not a substitute for the talk pages: the dispute must have been discussed extensively on a talk page (not just through edit summaries) before resorting to DRN.
  • It is not a court with judges or arbitrators that issue binding decisions: we focus on resolving disputes through consensus, compromise, and explanation of policy.
Things to remember:
  • Discussions should be civil, calm, concise, neutral, and objective. Comment only about the article's content, not the other editors. Participants who go off-topic or become uncivil may be asked to leave the discussion.
  • Let the other editors know about the discussion by posting {{subst:drn-notice}} on their user talk page.

Transylvanian voivodes etc.

Hi. I welcome your additions to Mercurius of Transylvania and to other Transylvanian voivodes. I am fine with "Hungarian people categories" but if you add them, please don't replace the "Romania by century" categories with them, as there is no connection nor they are mutually exclusive in any way. The "by century" categories include the history of a mondern nation over centuries. See Category:Centuries in Italy for an example. Also, templates like {{which}} and {{where}} are to be added on top of, and are not the same with {{citation needed}}. Adding a reference to an author, doesn't eliminate automatically the WP:WEASEL words (i.e. "A medieval chronicle", "a document from 1918 etc") and the need to address them. For example, in Mercurius of Transylvania we need to clearly state the (historiographical) name of the chronicles or documents from 1199 and 1097 that are cited. It is not encyclopedic to just say "The title voivode was first documented in 1199". You have to say "The title voivode was first documented in the Papal letter from 1199 from Pope X." If the modern reference doesn't mention which document, than it is not good enough. If it does, please include the name of the documents discussed by those authors. Thanks and regards.--Codrin.B (talk) 12:13, 3 April 2013 (UTC)

You can see that "centuries in..." categories is for the events, wars, works etc. but not for the person. For example King Emeric was also in today's Hungary, Serbia, Austria, Croatia, Romania, Ukraine, Slovakia etc. Meaningless and nonsensical category for a person. --Norden1990 (talk) 12:45, 3 April 2013 (UTC)
Okay, if you want to find the official archival codes of the documents, go ahead. I will not. I added reliable sources to these sentences, so no reason to delete this information. --Norden1990 (talk) 12:49, 3 April 2013 (UTC)
I do not believe it is meaningless to have people added in the relevant categories including the history of various modern nations. They are already added in many such "by century" categories sometimes in subcats like "18th century writers in Germany" or "11th century kings of England" etc. Indeed, the "by century" categories include many events, since that is how history is written, but they tend to encapsulate the history of a certain century and a certain modern country. It is very useful to group that information/ Remember WP:NOTPAPER so no harm is done by categorizing. The benefit is better navigation and allows readers and contributors to find information easier.
Regarding the references and information, I don't plan to remove anything. I never do unless is vandalism. I am an Inclusionist and Incrementalist ;-). I might look up those documents but I thought you might know more, since you added some of the refs. Plus, some references are in Hungarian which I don't speak.--Codrin.B (talk) 13:03, 3 April 2013 (UTC)
To the category problem: I understand your aim but "12th century in Romania" category is for events (battles) or offices, works. For example you can add here the article of Voivode of Transylvania, however its sub-category (Category:History of Transylvania (1003-1308)) also contains this article, so it would not be unfortunate. "11th century kings of England" is completely different thing, has been clearly established for persons. --Norden1990 (talk) 13:18, 3 April 2013 (UTC)

DYK: Chief Justice of Hungary

Hi there. I've just reviewed the nomination at Template:Did you know nominations/Chief Justice of Hungary. Many thanks for that, it looks like an excellent article. Looking at your talk page, I think that this is your first DYK nomination. If so, then you don't need to review a DYK as part of the review requirements (the first five DYK nominations are exempt, I think), but after that you would need to review someone else's DYK and note that at the nomination. One other thing - at the nomination, I mentioned that the sources are Hungarian and I was unable to check them. That is fine, but would you be able to either suggest those other than yourself who could review and verify Hungarian source, and/or suggest English-language sources on this topic if they exist. Such sources are not required, but would help. Thanks. Carcharoth (talk) 13:22, 7 April 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for the reply on my talk page. I'm returning here to let you know that I've tweaked the hook slightly, and I've made some copyedits here. If you could check you are happy with both of those, that would be great. It was interesting reading about this, as it reminded me of the brief bit of reading about the history of Austria-Hungary that I did while in Vienna back in 2005. I should dig out some of the books I have from that time, as the phrase 'Lands of the Crown of Saint Stephen' always seemed rather impressive, and the whole relationship between Austria and Hungary (as they were then) really fascinating. Thanks for the note. I have actually been to Hungary once as well, but unfortunately only passing briefly through Budapest (it is one of the European capitals I want to go back to eventually). I see from your user page that you are mainly interested in the history of Hungary in its pre-Trianon borders (I had not read that article about the Treaty of Trianon before), and I was wondering if you have much of an interest in the World War I period specifically? I have a general interest in the Great War (WWI), though mainly from a Western Front and UK perspective, and when I come across someone who may have access to sources in other countries that fought in that war, I try and ask about it. Filling in redlinks at a list such as List of Austro-Hungarian colonel generals is something I'd love to work on if sources were available in English, but I've not looked. The command structure of the armies and forces of countries that fought in that war is something else I have sources on, but sometimes the detail is not there. Anyway, this is all a long way from the Chief Justice article, so I'll stop there! Carcharoth (talk) 01:13, 8 April 2013 (UTC)
