re: Should we note this is the exact same power as Phoebe Halliwell in Charmed?

I still haven't watched "The Fix" but i don't think there is really a need to compare the two. Unless the actual POWERS are the same (I didn't watch more than say 6 eps of charmed after pru died) then its not really important, just the same word. But again, if phoebe's powers really are the same as Peter's, i say mention it on the Talk Page over there. WookMuff 18:44, 6 February 2007 (UTC)

Cool, then I say go bring it up in the talk page over there, because if its essentially the same then it has a place there, as an antecendent or precedent or both WookMuff 20:09, 6 February 2007 (UTC)

Your user page

Hello, I just happened to be looking at your user page and realized that your link to the Angel episode "Your Welcome" is wrong. Just thought I should let you know. Thefro552 01:23, 7 February 2007 (UTC)

I just want to clarify what exactly we were arguing over. The article written before I added anything, implied (to me at least) that Chris had not died, but returned to the future just in time with a different memory. What I wrote in was that the reason his body had disappeared wasn't because he had suddenly changed the future just enough to save his life in time, but because he did die and his body dissapeared from present time because he was dead, and his spell to send himself back to the past couldn't be sustained with his magic anymore (of which there are several examples of spells no longer working after a character has died before in the show). I wasn't trying to write things in that "i worked out for myself," or only fan-speculative, but if I was in some way going against wikipedia policy then I apologize but please elaborate on what exactly I did that was wrong, because that paragraph seemed awfully overly-optimistic way to look at his death. At that point, they had no idea if the future had changed or not, but the article reads as if they did. Now, I did rewatch the episode, and I saw the line you mentioned, but that wasn't what I had been asking about. I already knew he definately died (although I don't think the article states that clearly enough)I wanted to know where it stated that the future had definately changed, and how that was the reason for his body disappearing.

On the other note, you again deleted the references and several internal links I put in, including the ones that had nothing to do with the paragraph in question. Now, I admit I am still fairly new to wikipedia, which is why I didn't revert the article again since you seem to have been here longer than I have and I don't have that much expierience with adding references to articles, but I really have no idea what I did wrong there. I was under the impression that the more references an article had, the better the article was. So I decided that where I found a statement talking about a specific episode, to add in the reference to that episode, to help try and improve the quality of the article, which is how it seemed to me references had been treated in there already. Again, I could be wrong, but if I am please specify how. If I was being excessive (which I can agree I was being a bit in the statistics box) then please tell me that, but I still would like to know why with the internal links were cut as well.

I would just like a specific reason for why the internal links and unrelated references were taken out, as well as an elaboration for your view of my added statement in the last paragraph, because although Chris is my favorite character on Charmed, I honestly wasn't trying to sound like an overexcited-and-ignoring-the-facts "cHriS iz sOoOo hOtt!" fangirl; and I am extrememly sorry if that was how I came off. Thank you. Irish Pearl 21:46, 7 February 2007 (UTC)

    • I completely understand what happened, and thanks for trying to put the references back in! (Those things take a while to do...and it was one of the first times I was trying to put in references, which is also partially why I had gotten so upset about it...so I apologize if I came across as overreacting) So I guess we both misread what the other was saying. But I understand, so thank you for telling me about the mix-up! I was confused over what I had did wrong, so I really appriciate you getting back to me about it so quickly! Thank you. Irish Pearl 22:24, 7 February 2007 (UTC)

Hi and thanks for your addition of the reference for Dykon in this article. Unfortunately, it's not usable in its current form (damn those picky Wikipedians!). You only gave the Newspaper, date and page number, but not the author or name of the article. We do need that if we are to be able to verify that source. Can you find it again? Otherwise we will be forced to revert to the Urban Dictionary. The fate of the entire English language Wikipedia rests on your shoulders. Good luck! Jeffpw 22:41, 7 February 2007 (UTC)

Hi, Zythe. Thanks for fixing the links to redirects to Cardiff Rift, but it's really not necessary. See Wikipedia:Redirect#Don't fix links to redirects that aren't broken. Re: Your moving Maxxie and Anwar

Just making sure you knew, the rule is that you don't disambiguate titles unless the namespace is already taken. It was decided a couple months ago. The rule is at WP:TV-NAME. Also, while on the subject of skins edits... the template, which doesn't need to exist might I add. Consider spouse is used to refer to any partner, not just those to whom they are married. A good example of this is the Marissa Cooper infobox. ~ZytheTalk to me! 15:41, 26 February 2007 (UTC)

Hi, didnt realise about the naming convention, i just thought it was inkeeping with the other articles. No matter, no harm done. Thanks for letting me know. Ganon Article

I'm increasingly becoming of the opinion that the article is hopeless. More and more OR, flowery prose, and a general sense that it's more an overdramatic fanpage than an encyclopedia article continue to run rampant, especially, of late, in the Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, and most prominently, the OOT sections. (Maybe doing away with the sections for individual games will be necessary.)

In short: There are far too many people editing the article who don't care about whether it's encyclopedic, or what has been decided about it. We need to either semi-protect it or just accept the fact that it's gone to the dogs for good. -- Digital Watches! 00:37, 4 March 2007 (UTC)

Kudos and question

As Mike said above, the way you handled closing that category seemed very fair to me. You listified and kept the right ones, and set precedent for CfD (listifying and deleting trivial superpowers) in future. Anyway, my question is: Is there any way to repopulate any of the categories that Cydebot stripped down? ~ZytheTalk to me!

Thanks for your comments : ) - Best I can think of is to go through his or his bot's edit history. I presume that the category members would be grouped together. - jc37 03:40, 27 March 2007 (UTC)

Zythe, I think your last sentence may come across (unintentionally, I hope) as a bit less than civil, but that aside, in the future, perhaps if you had used an edit summary on each of your restorations, there might not have been the confusion. Perhaps something like:
I hope this helps : ) - jc37 19:23, 27 March 2007 (UTC)
I apologise to Chris if I came across uncivil.~ZytheTalk to me! 09:25, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

Yo. Affiliations

  • Is your stance on Whoniverse article affiliations in line with an official Wikipedia convention or is this your own personal opinion? Whilst I realise the information is often within the main body of text, surely the information box is designed to be a summary. It seems logical to include Jackie Tyler as an affiliate of Rose Tyler, for example. As her mother, Jackie has had a longer affiliation with Rose than the Doctor, plus this continues onscreen throughout Rose's tenure with both the Ninth and Tenth Doctors and Rose ends up living with Jackie again post-Doomsday. Similarly, Ian Chesterton and Barbara Wright were colleagues before meeting the First Doctor and left together in The Chase. In Torchwood terms, with the amount of bed-hopping that goes on, I realise that it may become unfeasible to continue adding each of the Torchwood team's lovers. However, Gwen Cooper is in a long-term relationship with Rhys Williams, even prior to Everything Changes, so his inclusion as an affiliate would seem logical. As for Sarah Jane Smith, now with her own Doctor-less spin-off show, should her adoptive son, Luke Smith, not be listed? Maria Jackson and Kelsey Harper serve as her 'companions', for want of a better term, hence their inclusion, the Doctors having their companions listed.Wolf of Fenric 14:31, 4 April 2007 (UTC)

If Captain Jack isn't affiliated with the 10th Dr. until Utopia airs, then remove him from the 10th Dr. Companion list and from the 10th Dr. companion navbox. (I'll watch for replies here.) - UtherSRG (talk) 17:44, 9 April 2007 (UTC)

AfD nomination of List of Kenny's deaths

An editor has nominated List of Kenny's deaths, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not"). Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of Kenny's deaths and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. "Categorization creep"

I'm sorry to use a vague term. It is not intended personally.

I don't think the term list creep is in common usage, but I've used it for a while and usually it is taken (as intended) in the project management sense, like Instruction creep or Creeping featurism — something growing in a way that makes sense in the short term but is overall a bad idea.

The "creep" I'm referring to is the action of making these lists incrementally longer, which while well-intended has bad effects.

User:Localzuk put this better than I did.

  • That category is not key to understanding Homer. It is not a major theme
  • Not important to the character

Basicly, after 18 years, Homer has done a lot of stuff, and would be in hundreds of categories. However, if every series television character who did something on one episode (or even several episodes) were listed in every plausible but non-essential category, then readers browsing categories would find them unwieldy in length and filled with non-notable examples.

That Homer steals freely is certainly worth noting in the article text, but not as a category.

Again, sorry for the misuderstanding. I'll use different terms in the future.

Per WP:CONSENSUS and discussion on the Talk page, can you let go of this and not restore the category? Homer is not a WP:NOTABLE burglar. / edgarde 19:04, 30 April 2007 (UTC)

Please do not go from article to article removing information about bisexual fictional characters and all sources identifying them as such. Changing Wikipedia does not change the fiction itself, mate.~ZytheTalk to me! 12:54, 8 May 2007 (UTC)

Characters should only be listed in categories they belong in as in proper canon of the stories, fan wishing doesn't make it so, mate. --24.62.221.173 04:50, 9 May 2007 (UTC)
And the way you go about it, for example, removing sources and factual information about John Constantine, Andreas Von Strucker and Black Cat definitely goes against how we deal with these categories. Don't insinuate my "fan wishing" or whatever, when it's simply author intent. These characters' sexualities are all canon, but for your reference, canonicity is not the main factor anyway - alternate continuities are in no way less "real", notability becomes the overriding factor (e.g. Martian Manhunter is a black superhero in Smallville). But no, you're totally in the wrong regardless.~ZytheTalk to me! 10:55, 9 May 2007 (UTC)

Regarding edits to Superhuman Strength

OK, listen, in this article what you put about "Not adding fictional characters to the list." News-Flash! They are all fictional characters! Inuyasha from Inuyasha and Goku from DBZ have been added, so why can't Tsunade from Naruto be added to list anyway? I mean, she is 'Super Strong' after all! Answer me that with a rational explanation, and then, mabey I'll stop editing the list. Also please note, it say's "Comics and Manga", so if she is Super Strong, I have the right to edit it.--"Quicken girl~Foxie Roxie"-

OK, good point, but I was not offened by anything at all. But you see, I don't read any of then except for NARUTO and Spiderman. So a person like me would not get it and thats why I added it. And what is the matter with adding everyone people can think of? I know people who don't read any Manga's or Comic's or barly watch TV, so they need to have a wide area to see examples in. I am not offended in anyway at all, I just think more refrenses should be added so people like me can understand better.--"Quicken girl~Foxie Roxie"-

MM didn't appear in Crimson. Are you referring to when Chloe called him "Martian Manhunter"?  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 19:41, 18 May 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, but it was done in that "Smallville-way" of saying a name but not actually saying that it IS his name. Like when they always tell Clark he's a "man of steel". That isn't his name, they are just joking, which is what Chloe was doing. Nothing actually said that Morris' character specifically said his name was Martian Manhunter. He technically hasn't given a name since he's appeared. We don't Clark "Superboy", even though Arthur Curry called him that when he was on the show. It was more of a "haven't heard anything about your Martian man-hunter", than a "I have found anything out about Martian Manhunter".  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 20:01, 18 May 2007 (UTC)
The fact that he isn't called MM in Smallville is relevant to the out-of-universe context of the information. You removed the part that said that he was never explicitly called Martian Manhunter, and a joking reference to the name isn't exactly saying the name. You could mention it was said in passing, but never specifically attributed as his "name".  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 20:04, 18 May 2007 (UTC)
I rewrote it to reflect that it isn't his name, but that it is used by Chloe in description of him.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 20:08, 18 May 2007 (UTC)
I believe so. I was going to add it when I saw you had added it at the same time I hit the "edit" button. So I just reworded it a bit and move the citation down, because it was in front of what it was citing.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 20:11, 18 May 2007 (UTC)

And thanks for catching my error with the end of the citation.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 20:12, 18 May 2007 (UTC)

New Titles

I see that you reverted my attempt to make this section consistent by making the Rose entry past tense. I have no objection to fictional characters having their character arcs and such described as present tense (and almost always do so), but the rest of the section is almost entirely past tense, which makes the Rose part seem out of place. Do you want to take the time to rewrite the whole section as present tense, or shall I? Regards.... -- Karen | Talk | contribs 06:20, 26 May 2007 (UTC)

Never mind; I took care of it. You may want to review the last bit though about the other Harkness. I'm not sure the wording quite makes sense with respect to the hetero relationship. Thanks! -- Karen | Talk | contribs 07:51, 26 May 2007 (UTC)

Episode quotes

Er, who says episodes use quotes now?--Rambutan (talk) 19:54, 26 May 2007 (UTC)

OK, thanks for that. I don't agree and wasn't aware of the discussion - despite being a very active member of the WikiProject. Ah, well, that's Wikipedia!--Rambutan (talk) 20:00, 26 May 2007 (UTC)

Re: Torchwood GA

I'm just sifting through my major contributions, seeing what I can get up to or nominate for GA. Torchwood Institute just happened to be one of them :) Will (We're flying the flag all over the world) 14:07, 28 May 2007 (UTC)

Please can you just have a look over the conception paragraph, see if it's okay? I have a feeling it looks weird. Will (We're flying the flag all over the world) 22:16, 28 May 2007 (UTC)

Willow

Thanks for your contributions to the Willow's sexuality section. Just out of interest, why did you remove the "I am you know... yours" quote? Also, I've been working hard on the Willow page for a while, and have mentioned to other editors about submiting it for peer review, since it's drastically different from when I started working on it. I've never done that before, and wondered your opinion, since you're the first editor to actually give it a second glance in ages. Paul730 00:56, 29 May 2007 (UTC)

Meh, you're probably right. Just think that quote's really sweet, that's all. Paul730 10:40, 29 May 2007 (UTC)

I wonder what it says about us that we admire a sociopathic, man-slaughtering, rent boy. :) Oh, and you should check out Gertrude Yorkes as well, from Runaways. You mention that you like Daria, and apparently they're pretty similar in personality (not being familar with Daria personally). On topic for a moment, I notice that you have an eye for LGBT articles, and last night I made edits to Andrew Wells' page, in particular his character bio and sexuality section. Want to have a look? Paul730 10:55, 29 May 2007 (UTC)

You should definitely buy Runaways. I cannot stress that enough. It is the best Marvel comic book in existence, bar none. It's also written by Brian Vaughn, who's writing the upcoming Faith arc, and has a lesbian in it, since you like gays. In regards to Andrew's sexuality, it might not be confirmed whether he is in fact gay, but I think there's strong enough evidence to warrant mentioning it in the article. Personally, I think he's too immature and naive to even know himself. Paul730 11:14, 29 May 2007 (UTC)

I see your point, I'm totally immature but I've known since I was eleven or twelve. I think Andrew's just too wrapped up in his fantasy worlds to really be aware of anything in his own life. He can't accept the reality of killing Jonathan because he's too busy building himself up in his own mind to be a big comic book supervillain. He just lives in denial about everything. Paul730 11:25, 29 May 2007 (UTC)

Are you pissed off? Not to be all paranoid, but your last comment was a little catty and you haven't replied since. Anyway, getting back to my original question, do you think that Willow's page should be submitted for peer review? I'd wait until Long Way Home finishes next week, but otherwise I think it looks good. Paul730 11:47, 29 May 2007 (UTC)

Hi again, I was looking at your edit to Willow's page, and there's a bit that I don't quite get. When in Season 7 does Willow state she still likes the Dingoes, and how is that relevant to her sexuality? Liking an all-male band doesn't mean that you fancy them, and if anything I thought she went off the Dingoes since she got Riley to switch their song off. Just wanted to clear that up, because I'm thinking about deleting it. Paul730 12:29, 29 May 2007 (UTC)

Buffy does state that Dawn isn't as proportionally strong as she is large in #4. Dawn is punching the wall of the castle in anger at Willow's kidnap, resulting in her knuckles getting all bloody. I think that's why Amy didn't get squished to death by her foot in #3. If you want to see a preview of pages 1 - 4, go to the Buffy comics website[3]. There aren't any major spoilers.  :) Paul730 13:27, 29 May 2007 (UTC)

Your Countdown (DC Comics) edit

Hi, I just thought I should let you know that I removed your note on the list of world jumpers. In JSA6 its stated that Thom got shunted to the Kingdom Come Earth during their trip. --Rider kabuto 07:15, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

sorry about the speech marks

I didn't realise there was some sort of system to the ones with speechmarks and those without, i'll put them all back, although it should be stated on the page, i think its uneeded and I think it looks messy.

apologies and thanks --Wiggstar69 15:13, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

Fair enough i've almost finished putting them back--Wiggstar69 15:47, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

Appearances

Hi, I've recently been helping User:Smartjoe299 with the appearances section and wanted some advice. You told him off for "deciding what is and is not canon", but it states elsewhere on Wikipedia that that storyline was canon (the Buffyverse chronology section). I'm not saying it should stay in the appearances section, but some comics are canon (Tales of the Vampires for example). What do you think the appearances section should include and how should it be laid out? Paul730 22:50, 10 June 2007 (UTC)

Ring of Fire is written by Doug Petrie and Will/Tara by Amber Benson. I personally count ROF as canon and W/T as non-canon (based purely on the quality of the stories) but for the sake of the articles I would rather include them as Buffy comics in a non-canon section of appearances. Season 8, Tales, and Fray are a whole different animal to the other comics due to the direct involvement and confirmation of Joss Whedon, and deserve to be listed by themselves. Rather than argue about canon, lets discuss how this section should be laid out in every article. Heres how I think it should be done:

Canon Appearances

Buffy (show)
Appeared in so many eps
Angel (show)
Guest appaerance in "Episode"
Tales of the Vamps #5
Buffy season 8

Non Canon Appearances

Buffy comics (as opposed to listing every single storyline)
Chaos Bleeds
Buffy movie
Buffy novel

I also think we should include real-life dates (as I have done in Xander and Buffy's pages) and mention of what media it is (TV show, comic, etc) Paul730 23:03, 10 June 2007 (UTC)

The reason why I included Tales as a single issue is because Bander only appear in one issue, whereas they appear in every ish more or less of Season 8. Somebody looking for Buff or Xan might not know which ish they appear in. What do you mean exactly by "reference the individual canon stories outside of a larger collection through prose..."? You mean "Buffy has appeared in various comic books, including Tales, Season 8, etc?" I think bullet points are neater and more clear visually than a paragraph of words, but listing every single ish/ep like in the Rose/Cap (OMG Cap Jack is back nxt week!!!!) pages is just too detailed. You may be right about keeping non-canon appearances in prose, since they're obviously less important than canon. I'm not sure... Paul730 23:28, 10 June 2007 (UTC)
Urgh, just deleted everything I wrote... Anyway, I like your suggestion for layout. "Big series" should be replaced with "ongoing series" or something. What about multiple comic series such as "Angel Vol 1" and "Angel Vol 2" (vol 2 is written by Whedon by the way). And would "Angel: The Curse" and "Angel: Old Friends" be two one-shots or one ongoing? Same with Spike "Asylum" and "Shadow Puppets". I doubt anyone's really that interested in the crap ancillary comics, so would lumping them all together be acceptable? Paul730 23:48, 10 June 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, I had a little debate about the Spike comics being canon but apparently they're not. Lynch just wanted to know how popular his characer were so he could "canonise" them (see the "Lynch canon" section of my talk page.) I edited the Buffy article's appearances, so tell me your thoughts. Isn't Angel Vol 2 set in Angel: Season 2? I've never read it, just wondering. It's in italics in the chronology lists, so it's not canon one way or the other. Oh, and isn't Season 8 being renamed to something like "Into the Fray"? Paul730 00:06, 11 June 2007 (UTC)
I like it! :) Shall we make that the template on which to base the other pages, or does it need more work? Too bad about "Into the Fray"; I was hoping for a Fray/Buffy crossover. :( BTW, unrelated question but I wanted to know your opinion; describe Conner in one word. Paul730 00:39, 11 June 2007 (UTC)
Don't. You. Dare. Compare. That. Rat-faced. Bastard. To. Dawn. Sorry, but I like Dawn and she's soooo less annoying than him. I sort-of like him in Season 5. Frankly, chaning his personality was the only way they could have salvaged his character. Having read his Spotlight On comic, I even think he has potential for a spin-off series. Quickly, before we get told off for chatting; what about Anya and Cordy's deaths? I think Anya's might lead into good S8 story, but Cordy's was a disgrace (albeit a well-written one)since she'd been there from the start. Paul730 00:54, 11 June 2007 (UTC)

God I hope we see Cordy again. Love to see her and Spike together (not in a sexy way but they'd be so bitchy to one another). Here's another question (which is somewhat relevant to the article since they're listed as each other's romantic interests); Spangel, did they or didn't they? I think that after the Immortal "violated" their women, they got depressed and drunk together before falling into bed for some awkward sex. The next morning, they were totally humiliated and vowed never to mention it again. I do not think that they were wildly in love or passionate, as so many fan fics insist. What do you think? Paul730 01:13, 11 June 2007 (UTC)

That scene in #3 was so funny! Did you notice how there were two "trains" going into a "tunnel" and an "explosion" going off in the background? lol I think in "Destiny", the scene where their hands are in the light definitey is about gay sex. (Angelus calling himself a deviant) I hated that letter into #4 where that loser is slagging off Buffy for fantasising about Spike, it's like go read Superman or something... Remember in Chosen, Buffy pictured Spangel wrestling covered in oil, so I don't think she'd mind seeing the pair of them together. BTW, I just changed Angel's appearance section, but can't think of any other canon stories with him in them. Think I'll change Spike's now. Paul730 01:43, 11 June 2007 (UTC)

Spuffelsome?!? What a great word. Where are Spike and Angel's other hands by the way? I like how Whedon actually hints at Spangel; they're one of the only slash couples with any grain of truth to them. Here's the Destiny bit I was talking about:-

ANGELUS Don't mistake me. I do love the ladies. It's just lately... I've been wondering... (holds his own fist in the beam of sunlight) what it'd be like... (watches his hand sizzle) to share the slaughter of innocents... with another man. (turns his hand over so the palm is in the light now; looks admiringly at it as it smokes) Don't... don't think that makes me some kind of a deviant, hmm? (pulls his hand back close to his face) Do you?

Staring at Angelus, William sticks his own hand in the light—voluntarily this time)

ANGELUS (laughs, slaps William on the shoulder affectionately) Au ah! I like this one! You and me, we're gonna be the best of friends.

Ha! They're such poofs. Paul730 02:02, 11 June 2007 (UTC)

I don't know, despite my jokes, I don't think they're really bisexual, just heteros with open minds and lots of time on their hands. To read a cute Spangel fan fic, go here[4]. It gets a bit porny and it's and not very true to character imo, but I was still lmao when I was reading it. BTW, I'm thinking about deleting some of the Buffy non-canon appearances section. I mean, do we really to mention all the stories that Buffy's not in? Paul730 02:28, 11 June 2007 (UTC)

Night. Paul730 02:39, 11 June 2007 (UTC)

Spangel (again)

Hi, bitch! ;) Listen, I know we both like a bit of Spangel, but the professional Wikipedian in me has to question whether Angel/Angelus really counts as a romantic interest/sexual liason. You've said yourself that there's not much romance between them and it's not explicitly stated that they had sex. Don't you think it's ambiguous for a reason? Paul730 06:46, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
