I am allowed to reach out to people who are affiliated with the topic I am writing about?

Am I allowed to reach out to the people who are affiliated with a topic I am writing about for more sources and information? The topic is a piece of video media from the 1990's. The cast had a lot of subcultural notability in the 80's/90's and were features in subculture magazines (skateboarding in particular) so I'm wondering if they know where to get more sources about the video they were in. No offense to them but I don't think any of the cast members or anybody else involved would meet the qualifications for notability in the present nor would have in the past honestly. @Wrosh of course, it's true we don't use posts on social media as sources, as they are not reliable sources. Here we have @WindowColorCenter asking if it's okay to "reach out" to someone, asking if that person can point to a reliable source. @Wrosh, thank you. I studied up on the practicalities of sources before I'd started writing and knew to refrain from using them as sources as well as blogs as those as primary sources, from what I'd understood could not be used no problem and in any case thank you for the reminder. @MatthewDalhousie is right is what I had been asking about with the article. More clearly I had been meaning to say if it was alright to reach out to people who had been involved with the media on their own social media accounts which is how I would attempt to reach them and ask them for any sources they have. @Fabrickator Fair; so far they haven't edited a single mainspace article yet. And that's probably more important that working on user subpages. I just don't think it's necessarily correct to discourage new users from making subpages. Well anyway, I feel like the question's been answered, as the user knows how to make subpages now, and this conversation is veering toward an unnecessary argument, so I believe it's wise for us to end this and for me to politely withdraw myself from this conversation. Hello @Maryam.mgs, welcome to the Teahouse. Anyone can translate articles from other language Wikipedias to English, as long as they follow the guidelines for content attribution. There is a page that provides information on this: Help:Translation. Since you are a new user and do not have many edits, the specific use of the Content Translation Tool is not allowed until you have 500 edits and have been a member for 1 month. Maryam.mgs, The short answer is: translate it yourself, as long as it is on Japanese Wikipedia, and forget about the Content Translation Tool. I was going to suggest you start by creating a sandbox page, User:Maryam.mgs/sandbox, but it looks like you have already started an article there about "Kyoichi Tanaka", and then I noticed you also created Draft:Kyoichi Tanaka as well. I assume that is the topic you wish to translate?

I found a Japanese article at ja:田中恭一 about a Japanese businessman involved with a contact lens company, so I assume that is the article you are translating. If so, you can keep on translating it, just be aware that Wikipedia's Terms of use requires that all translations from other Wikipedias be attributed by a statement in the edit summary; see WP:TFOLWP for how to word this. Looking at the history of the Draft, it looks like there is a brief attribution statement on the initial edit which probably suffices, so you can just carry on translating. The pages are linked through Wikidata. Once the English page is published (no longer a draft), it will be possible to add it to the list of Wikipedia entries on this page: wikidata:Q11575551. MOst of the time this is done by people patrolling new pages or bots so it is not usually something you have to worry about. Reconrabbit 13:27, 21 June 2024 (UTC)

That is correct. It would be impossible for every article to be the same across different languages anyway, since it is discouraged to use machine translation. Also, different sources may be used in different languages. As an example, the English article on Narita Brian is a stub, and it uses the Los Angeles Times as a source. The Japanese article does not use this source, and it is a much longer Featured Article. Reconrabbit 14:29, 21 June 2024 (UTC)

Editing my company's Wikipedia page

I work for the company Ontotext, and the Wikipedia page for an Ontotext product https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ontotext_GraphDB has not been edited since a few years before I joined. I understand why Wikipedia doesn't want company employees adding marketing material about their companies to Wikidata, but I would just like to update the dates and release numbers on the page and maybe remove some out-of-date bits. question about a draft

You have misunderstood what Wikipedia is, Wikipedia doesn't host "author pages" we have articles on notable people see the relevant criteria at WP:NWRITER. Theroadislong (talk) 19:24, 20 June 2024 (UTC)

WP, however, does host userpage profiles so long as said material relates in some way to users' activity, tenure, and/or goals hereon. Note that userpages cannot be used as ads/promotional tools/spam bait, social profiles, forum threads, or personal web pages; there are other avenues for the likes of those. It also appears that a significant portion (everything but 'early life') was copied from a website with a copyright notice. (Almost) EVERYTHING IS THE INFOBOX!!!1!

Basically, I am attempting to merge USS Wadsworth (FFG-9) with ORP Generał Tadeusz Kościuszko. I made an edit (https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=ORP_Genera%C5%82_Tadeusz_Ko%C5%9Bciuszko&oldid=1230123249) on the latter article with a lot of the text from the former, with the infobox from the former as well. When I uploaded the edit though, I noticed something weird: The infobox was at the bottom of the page. I decided to open the edited article in the editor and I saw something horrifying: the infobox was somehow containing all the text (not within itself, but rather just as one whole lump, if that makes any sense). I reverted the edit in response to this.

there was no information on my home community cemetery, I contacted the person that runs it. No one knows how to put the correct information in. I tried but there was only room to put her phone number. The local library found me a link which I also inserted. Wikipedia has little interest in what the subject of an article says or wants to say about themselves, or what their associates say about them. Wikipedia is almost entirely interested in what people who have no connection with the subject, and who have not been prompted or fed information on behalf of the subject, have chosen to publish about the subject in reliable sources. If enough material is cited from independent sources to establish notability, a limited amount of uncontroversial factual information may be added from non-independent sources.

I'm a long time user of Wikipedia, and contribute financially but not with words (so far). That is something you don't want to do. While it could potentially be used as a primary source, you may only use it for things that are not contentious (more info at WP:ABOUTSELF). Ideally information is taken from sources that follow the golden rule; that is, sources that are reliable, independent of the subject, and significantly covers the subject.
While I have a slight bone to pick with Wikipedia for what it's concerned about, the encyclopedia is concerned that the information can be verified from reliable sources, not the absolute truth. —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 17:57, 21 June 2024 (UTC)

And, to add to what Tenryuu says, "blessing" by the governing body is not required: in fact it is totally irrelevant. If reliable sources said something significant about the organisation which the governing body really didn't want repeated, it could and possibly should still go in the article. Second DYK

I'm trying to nominate Weise's law to DYK again after it achieved GA status, but when I attempt to put it through the wizard, it rejects it, saying that the page already exists, which is from its first nom. When I go to edit that page, there's a warning about not editing below the line, which is where I would put the new nom. What should I do to nominate it a second time? Thanks in advance! The clothing article isn't "your" article. You introduced formatting errors, punctuation errors, and other unexplained changes. That edit you made wasn't an improvement. Splitting off parts of two articles to make a third. Some questions

I suggested splitting off the history sections of Gay literature and Lesbian literature into their own article (something like History of LGBT literature) back in February because of the size of their history sections, but never went through with making a full proposal due to a combination of not knowing how and some difficulty staying logged in to the site. I've decided to try to come back to that and have read WP:Split but I'm still confused. If you have a discussion anywhere, then you can post an appropriate notice on other talk pages directing people to that discussion but I would suggest that in this case the central discussion belongs on the talk page of the LGBT studies WikiProject. If you were to go there then the template would look something like {{Split section|History of LGBT literature|discuss=Wikipedia talk:WikiProject LGBT studies#Discussion Title}}. Hi @Meena1998: the problem isn't so much the writing style, but rather the content. Your draft merely describes what the business does, including very specifically what projects it has worked on, the awards it has won, its CSR initiatives, etc. While I can understand that's what the business would like to tell the world about itself, we have no interest in that. We want to see what independent and reliable secondary sources have said about this company, and in particular about what makes it noteworthy, rather than just another ROTM business. @Meena1998: as mentioned already, we need to see what independent and reliable secondary sources, entirely of their own volition, have chosen to say about this business. If you can find multiple (3+) such sources, and summarise (in your own words, but without any additional commentary or embellishment) their coverage, then it may be possible to have an article on this subject accepted. You are proposing to edit a biography of a living peron for which we have very strict sourcing/citation requirements (see that link). You should place the new material about the award in the relevant section of the main article and only repeat that in the WP:LEAD if it is one of the most important of his accomplishments. DYK question

Hello, I am a frequent editor but new to DYK. I just rewrote Theatre Development Fund which used to be exceptionally promotional and changed everything in the article (save for a some references here and there) so that it complied with WP:PROMO, such that only a very small amount of the former prose remains. While the article is not necessarily "new", it was significantly improved in my opinion, I think it is also new since most of the prose is new. My question is does this merit the nomination of the article for DYK (ie. would it be taken seriously) although does not technically fall under the "new" article category, GA, or five-fold expansion categories? Would it be possible for Wikipedia to stop changing appearance?

As a decades-long user of Wikipedia, I don't know what inspired the recent changes to the site's appearance. First, the Table of Contents became a sidebar, and now it assumes a large browser-window -- at least when javascript is not used. Map of state highlighting a county

Something has happened to the Wikimedia Commons state maps highlighting a county. The maps used to show the entire state and its counties, with the highlighted county in red. Now, the map of the state, and all the counties except the highlighted county, is gone. Examples are the maps in the InfoBoxes for Battle of Charleston (1862), Battle of Cove Mountain, Battle of Droop Mountain, Battle of Fayetteville (1862). There are others. All of these maps used to show the entire state divided by county. The state was white with borders in black. The highlighted county was a solid red. Now, the only thing that appears is the red part. Looking at only the file "Map of West Virginia highlighting Fayette County.svg" in WikiMedia, it says the English version is used in over 40 pages. What happened? Will it be restored? There is a post on Commons:Graphics village pump called Map of state highlighting a county. Evidently, the SVG file source does not validate and does not work on modern browsers. Someone has fixed Fayette County, but basically all of the states have the problem. Other West Virginia counties such as Kanawha County, Pocahontas County, and Hardy County have not been fixed. Remove italics from an article title

It wasn't rejected, it was declined. If it was rejected, the message would have said so, and this means you should not pursue further attempts to publish it. But because it was declined, that means the reviewer thinks it may have potential but it still needs improvement before it is deemed acceptable for publication in article space. I have magazine articles but they aren't archived online. OK to use for citations?

I reached out to several people who were involved with the production of the media I am making an article about. One responded and this person provided to me several magazine pages and clippings. Although I haven't extensively looked online yet (I'd like to ask in advance), I don't know if they could be found in an online database of magazine articles. The problem with a collection of clippings is they won't necessarily have provenance. There's a big difference between "a clipping from my collection says XYZ", and "an article from issue #420 of Generic Magazine (June 1999, page 65) says XYZ", even if the clipping is the article.

If you can provide bibliographic information for when and where the articles were published - even if they're not online yet - we should be good. DS (talk) 20:36, 21 June 2024 (UTC)

Can not access sources from pop-up while in visual editing mode

It just started happening today. I can access it while reading, but when I am in visual editing mode, I can not access the source from pop. For eaxmple, Texttext. If I click on [1], normally I can click the URL from the pop up and visit the site, but this isn't working anymore. Graywalls (talk) 20:46, 21 June 2024 (UTC)

So, I logged out, started the browser in Incognito and launched the visual editor without logging in to eliminate my user preferences or cookies as being a possible cause. How do I make a Wikipedia article for a subject with an article that already exists?

By creating a page with a disambiguator in the title. For example Guillotine is about what you would expect it to be about, as the main topic, while Guillotine (band) is about a band by the same name and Guillotine (wrestling) is about a wrestling move. Do I need to use citations in my lead?

How do I edit the Charles Darwin page?

I want to edit the Charles Darwin page but see that there is a note saying I should go to this page if I want to do that. Please could someone explain how I should proceed. The edits I would like to make are described below.

It should be made clear that in "The Origin" Darwin attributes several adaptions to what he calls "use and disuse" which involves the inheritance of acquired characterists which is a component of Lamark's theory of evolution. Currently the article mentions that three of Darwin's contemporaries (Robert Grant, Ernst Haeckel and Herbert Spencer) held Lamarkian views. It also describes one of Darwin's notes as dismissing as absurd the Lamarkian view of progression to higher forms. This strongly gives the impression that Darwin had discarded Larmarkian thinking which is wrong. Darwin argues for Lamarkian evoutionary mechanisms in "The Origin" and even more so in the later editions and other subsequent published material.

It should also be stated in the article that Darwin did not understand that natural selection was responsible for species conformity (stabilizing selection) and this led him to articulate, in "The Origin" a confusing theory about the nature of variation.

These two issues (which in fact I think are intimately related to each other but I will not explain why here as that is my personal opinion) are interesting and noteworthy and by including them in the article will give a fuller, more balanced and more interesting account of Darwin.

How to prevent the Wikidata template from returning multiple values?

Hi Teahouse!

I was trying to figure out why one of the boxes in Comparison of Java virtual machines said "Error: first parameter cannot be parsed as a date or time." From what I figured out, Template:Start date and age was unhappy because it was getting multiple values from Wikidata:

{{Start date and age|{{wikidata|qualifier|Q16928072|P348|P577}}}}

The inner Template:Wikidata was looking up the item Q16928072 (GraalVM), the property P348 (software version), and then the qualifier P577 (publication date). It seems that a bot came along and marked an older "software version" as preferred. The last added "software version" was also marked as preferred.

The command {{wikidata|qualifier| is meant to return a single qualifier, but because there were 2 preferred "software version" properties, it retrieved 2 "publication date" qualifiers, like so:

20 November 2019; 13 June 2023; Error: first parameter cannot be parsed as a date or time.

The versions happened to be out of date, so I tried my hand at updating the Wikidata item. I also unmarked the bot's preferred ranking. For now the box correctly reads:

16 April 2024; 2 months ago

Does anyone know how to use Template:Wikidata to only choose the most recent date, regardless of preferred ranking? I don't know if my solution is the most robust, since another bot could reintroduce multiple values. Blepbob (talk) 00:43, 22 June 2024 (UTC)

single does limit the result to one, but I'm not sure if it supports sorting the dates by latest. For instance, if there are two preferred software versions with different dates, it seems to just pick the date for the first listed version.

Hello. The reliable source noticeboard is the best place to ask about reliability of sources. Note that the reliability of a source depends on many factors, including precisely what information the source is being used to support. A book from a reputable publisher more than a hundred years ago may be a very good source for some things, but I would be dubious about what an English (presumably) writer in the 1920s had to say about sensitive cultural issues in seventeenth century India. @Smallangryplanet Calcalist seems to be a valid source, although it has not been discussed at WP:RSPS. The article is quite long and clearly Raanan knows about it since it includes comments from him. Thus I think it is valid to include material from that article provided you do so neutrally and without undue weight. Saddle Tramp vs Cowboy

While creating the subject article Mesannie Wilkins (Last of the Saddle Tramps), I realized there was no article I could link that defined what a "Saddle Tramp" actually was: Saddle Tramp. WP states: "A saddle tramp is a nomadic cowboy" and links to cowboy; which is incorrect. A Saddle Tramp is specifically "a person who wanders from place to place on horseback." It even equates itself to modern times for a person who does not drive a car and has no shame in asking for a lift: "I had to take that saddle tramp home from work again today." It has nothing to do with herding cattle from one territory to another for months at a time. Obviously WP would benefit from the correction by creating an article for "Saddle Tramp"; however, how would I go about dealing with the disambiguation page already created for the term Saddle Tramp? Request For Help

Hi. I apologize if I am posting this request for help in the wrong place; I'm doing so because I have been blocked from all the other Wikimedia sites, and when I try to write to the person who has blocked me, I receive messages that I have been blocked. This seems to have originated at Wikisource, and I have never made any type of edit to Wikisource. The edits I've made over the years are few in number and have always been constructive.

There are two entities that have blocked me: 1) User:Jan.Kamenicek, and 2) Something called Epic, which has blocked me until 2007; the page in which Epic announced that I am blocked seems to have disappeared now, but I am still blocked.

I have not made any edits to any Wikimedia sites in recent history. On the few occasions that I have made edits to Wikipedia, I have done so while logged in to my account name, "Enactataph". My edits have always been constructive.

Again, I have never made any edit on Wikisource. This is what Jan Kamenicek determined:

Question about how articles are written

Whether a sentence should be written in active voice (Critics overwhelmingly praised the film...) or passive voice (The film was overwhelmingly praised [by critics]...) depends heavily on context, which may be why the manual of style (MOS) doesn't really say anything about it directly. MOS tends to advise on matters broadly applicable.

Some style guidelines may affect which "voice" to use—as well as how to resolve conflicts between editors who prefer one over the other—but I could talk all day and night in the general and yield very little useful or actionable info. 20 years ago or so I advertised to find someone to help edit and improve my Wikipedia page. I did not know that that was a terrible idea to pay someone. Editing people at Wikipedia reacted strongly. Some sort of senior editor stepped in, and I wound up with a very short page. Now that I am 80 years old, it is time to beef up that page; Nicholas Lore. I am not capable of doing this myself, and I doubt if I will be able to find someone who can volunteer to do it. That means I need to pay someone. How can I do that? How can I discern who is reputable? Just to say a bit about myself, My number one book has been in the top 1/5 of one percent on Amazon Amazon for 24 years. I was one of the pioneers of your organic farming field in the 70s. Etc. etc. Is there a way to find a reputable person to write my Wikipedia page? How would I go about doing that? User:Northamerica1000 actively edited the article back in 2012 and is still an active editor. On that person's Talk page you could ask if the person is willing to add new information and references, with you offering to provide your proposed text and properly formatted references. Your new content cannot be what you know about yourself, but rather be limited to what can be verified by reliable source references published by people with no connection to you. The fact that you book sells at Amazon does not belong in the article. If you were influential in 1970s organic farming, that will require what people other than you having written about you. @Gangalo Someone correct me if I am wrong, but it is not technically against Wikipedia policy to pay someone to edit pages, even pages that are about you or about a topic that you have a conflict of interest (COI) with. However, there are rules and regulations governing what you, and the person(s) you employ as editors, must do if you decide to engage in paid editing: please read WP:PAID. Even if you are not paying someone to edit Wikipedia, you are required to disclose if you edit pages that you have a COI with, such as your own biography article; for those rules, please see WP:COI. While I advise you to read both pages thoroughly, a high level summary is that you are required to:

• Disclose any paid editing and any COI's. One easy way of doing the latter is to edit your user page and add the template {{Connected contributor}}, with appropriate arguments, to the page. Similarly, any editors you employ should use {{Connected contributor (paid)}}.
• Generally avoid editing COI articles directly; though I believe it is not technically against the rules to do so per se, it is strongly advised that you instead submit edit requests on the talk page of any article that you wish to edit, using the template {{Edit COI}}, at which point other editors will consider effecting your suggestions.

@AgentDuck11: I'll second the recommendation not to edit war. If someone is reverting your edits, stop and discuss it rather than persisting. Your edits are not vandalism, but the the images you are uploading to the Commons are not being appropriately attributed. Looking at the files you have uploaded (take File:Aam Awam Party Flag.jpg for example) you are indicating "own work" under the source. Since the flag is not your work, it is not appropriate to upload it in this manner. You need to indicate where you got the file with evidence that it is in the public domain or under a creative commons license. @AgentDuck11: I think it would only count as your work if you created the design. But here, from what you said, it seems you are just manually copying it. For someone more experienced in this matter, you should get advice on the Commons. Commons:Village pump/Copyright would probably be the place it ask. Be advised, though, any files that are copyrighted will need to be deleted. That may be the case with some of them since at least some of the pages you edited are using their current images under fair use. I'm not a fan of how these things are handled here at WP. First, I clearly see an editor who has made it their mission to track another editor by following article by article, edit by edit, and revert without leaving either an informative History Summary or a sensible Talk Page reason to help educate the editor from continuing their incorrect manner of editing. WP fails more often than naught to educate rather than revert and move on. Vif12vf left a slew of "Template" warnings on AgentDuck11's Talk Page here: [3]. All this does is say what the editor did wrong and tells them to "reference this" for more information. I call this lazy editing and non-productive assistance at WP. AgentDuck11 went to Vif12vf's Talk Page [4] and started a conversation with them (albiet a bit brusque); and all they were met with was everything they did wrong and a threat: "...and may also get you banned for poor personal behaviour!" Not one bit of offering to assist. At least TornadoLGS used the voice of reason: "From appearances, it seems that AgentDuck is not acting in bad faith but is simply ignorant of how to handle proper attribution or copyright. While their response was not WP:CIVIL I don't think this editing counts as deliberate vandalism." The above editors should be equally holding Vif12vf accountable for constantly tracking / following AgentDuck [5], [6], [7], [8], [9], [10], [11], this goes on and on. (Ironically, this is not the first time Vif12vf has been accused of an edit war: [12]. [13].) There must be some WP policy against this behavior; and certainly a better way for an editor to handle this situation. It doesn't solve anything. Cannot link articles

Hi. There's an article Bolivian wine. And I see in Spanish wiki, there's an article as well (Vino de Bolivia). When I try to link them I get this error: The link eswiki:Vino de Bolivia is already used by Item Q2880868. You may remove it from Q2880868 if it does not belong there or merge the Items if they are about the exact same topic.

@Aredoros87: For future reference, such issues should be posted to Wikidata, not here. Anyways, the issue seems to be that Wikidata:Q2880868 and Wikidata:Q122496960 are duplicates. This can be solved by merging them, which it appears someone just went ahead and did a few minutes ago. So the issue should be fixed. However, I am still not seeing this reflected in the list of language links on either language's Wikipedia. It is possible this takes a bit of time to propagate, so check back in a bit. Hi Aredoros87. The "Languages" section was empty in es:Vino de Bolivia because it was the only article in its Wikidata item Bolivian wine (Q2880868). The English Bolivian wine had its own Wikidata item Bolivian wine (Q122496960) where it was also alone. I have merged the two Wikidata items so the articles should now or soon link eachother. Regarding wikipedias arbitrary sanctions on topics related to the Arab-Israeli conflict

I have recently received a notification in my talk page that there is policy of extended confirmed protection regarding the contentious topic. I have seen there are many pages that lack such protection despite pertaining to the contentious topic, I would like to inquire whether a user without extended privileges can edit such a page or not. You cannot create a new article. Non-extended-confirmed editors may not create new articles. You really should work on something else. Wikipedia has more than 6 million articles, many of which need improvement. Don't focus on areas you can't help in yet. RudolfRed (talk) 22:08, 22 June 2024 (UTC)

Is there any template like {{redirect-distinguish-multi}}?

Is there a template that combines {{redirect-distinguish}} and {{redirect-multi}}, such that the output text reads something like "A and B redirect here. Not to be confused with C." @PrimeHunter I would like the page Dravidianist to redirect to Dravidian nationalism, as Dravidianism already does, as, generally, a Dravidianist is a subscriber to the ideology of Dravidianism, aka Dravidian nationalism. However, Dravidianist may mistakenly be mixed up by people with Dravidologist (presently a redirect to Dravidian studies, because a Dravidologist is a scholar of that field), and so I would like the hatnote to say "Dravidianism and Dravidianist redirect here. @Brusquedandelion: "Dravidianist" and "Dravidianism" are so similar that there is no need to mention both in a hatnote directing to the same article. Just say:

"Dravidianism" redirects here. Not to be confused with Dravidology.

What am I doing wrong?

I am having a hard time understanding how to make my draft better so the page will be approved. I'm trying to write about a grocery store that I feel is very important to local history. I have submitted my draft three times.

Initially, I was relying on some online news sources that might not have been the greatest. However, I feel that my most recent draft has really strong sources. I found about half of the sources on the school databases. (I am a high school teacher.) I think that I cited those correctly, but maybe I am wrong? Am I allowed to use those sources even though I had to use my school account to access them?

I looked at the sources and, to me, many of them contain enough promotional language, as well as quotes from store's officials, that I'm reluctant to see them as the sort of coverage that meets the requirements for business notability. But your draft has not been rejected. When a draft is declined, the notice is supposed to indicate ways in which it can be improved. The notice can be fairly generic, though, so this is probably best interpreted as "you need better sources".

There is nothing wrong with using sources that require a subscription or that you found via databases. You appear to be properly citing the original publications, even if the URL links sometimes go to an aggregator or database provider. — jmcgnh^{(talk) (contribs)} 01:17, 23 June 2024 (UTC)

Looking at Draft:Green Hills 1, It seems to me like you've chosen to write about a local business that, like millions around the world, simply doesn't meet our Notability Criteria. At a quick glance, all your sources appear to be either from insider business websites, or are from local news sources. Please read WP:NCORP to appreciate that a business needs to have been written about by major, mainstream media in quite some depth and detail before we can accept an article about it. Inevitably, there will be inumerable trade magazines and press releases that talk about and promote these local businesses. But what we need to see is real national interest and coverage shown by unconnected media in that company. If you can provide at least three major (i.e. national) news stories that have described this business, then you might stand a chance. I do appreciate that Wikipedia tries to draw a firm boundary so that businesses cannot promote themselves on Wikipedia; rather, businesses only exist on Wikipedia if they are "notable." However, I actually really do think that Green Hills Farms is notable, but I will continue to research.

I do understand your points about the local news articles. However, I thought that these sources really demonstrated the notability of the store:

I have been on for five days and have 111 (now 112) edits, and yet it doesn't say I am autoconfirmed. I have double-checked that I am not on Tor and not on IP block exemption. What constitutes a "conflict of interest" claim?

My creation of the page "Phil Thompson (Musician)" Draft:Phil Thompson (musician) - Wikipedia was turned down because of what was called a "conflict of interest."

Theres a number of redlinks in List of civil parishes in Gloucestershire. I guess you can start with whichever one you're able to find some good info for. Should I request a page protection or an IP range block?

I have been dealing with a persistent IP user adding unsourced content with poor grammar with foreign-language, unrelated, useless and/or absurd edit summaries at Gosains. The IP keeps changing slightly and the user has been warned many times, but the edits are almost completely the same every time. The IP user has also made edits to other pages like Sannyasi rebellion and Yogi Nath. While it seems they have ceased editing the Sannyasi rebellion page, Yogi Nath was last edited by the user (and quickly reverted) yesterday as can be seen here.

I wonder what the correct action would be here, request protection against IP edits on Gosains and Yogi Nath, or request an IP range ban? I know wikipedia generally wants to keep pages free to be edited by IPs, but a range ban could also hit a lot of innocent IPs.

What do more senior editors recommend?
