Tata Elxsi Limited (TEL) (BSE: 500408, NSE is a technology design company that is part of the Tata Group. Tata Elxsi addresses the communications, consumer products, healthcare, media & entertainment, semiconductor and transportation sectors. It employs over 3500 people and has a network of design studios, development centers and offices worldwide. Its core practice areas cover embedded electronics and software development, industrial design, systems integration, animation and visual FX services. It is headquartered in Bangalore and is a public stock company in which Tata Group still maintains a major stockholding.[2]

Tata Elxsi is a design services company and part of the $70 billion Tata Group. Headquartered in Bangalore and with offices and centers in India, the US, the UK, Japan and Germany, Tata Elxsi employs more than 3500 engineers and designers.
Tata Elxsi’s core practice areas cover embedded electronics and software development, industrial design, systems integration, animation and visual FX services.

Tata Elxsi was created as a joint venture between the Tata group and Elxsi, which produced mainframe computers. However, Elxsi went out of business in the early 1990s owing to the shift in consumer preferences across the world - mainframes took a backseat with the advent of Personal Computers (PCs). The Tata group retained the “Elxsi” name as part of the Tata group of companies.
Tata Elxsi's offerings include hardware, software and embedded electronics — across multiple technology domains such as Digital signal processing and embedded software, hardware, multimedia, computer networking, storage, visual and scientific computing and wireless. The company also provides mechanical product design for electronic enclosures, appliances and packaging, from concept to implementation and tool design.

The Embedded Product Design division provides technology consulting, new product development, system integration and testing services for leading product companies, ODMs and service providers. It also creates and licenses intellectual property and software components.
One of the prominent group among the EPD division is the Wireless Business Unit (WBU), which contributes a bigger part into the company revenue. The WBU is mainly into the services segment and have ready solutions for 3G technology like E-VDO and 3.5/4G technologies like WiMAX and LTE stacks.[clarification needed]
Tata Elxsi has stack for both LTE eNode-B and User Equipment(UE). The LTE and WiMAX stacks are built upon multiple platform.

The Industrial Design (I.D) division uses design as a tool for business success. Its expertise is claimed to extend across consumer insight, branding, industrial design, visual design & merchandising, design engineering and manufacturing support.

Visual Computing Labs is a digital production studio providing Animation, Visual Effects (VFX) and 3D stereoscopic content for feature films, episodic television and advertising. It hosts studios in Los Angeles and Mumbai. It offers custom content development for visualization and product marketing, and is a developer of mobile, online and console games.
Roadside Romeo is India’s first fully animated 3D film co-produced by Walt Disney and Yash Raj Films.

TATA Elxsi Gaming practise provides game engineering and art services to interactive entertainment companies. The division has developed games on multiple platforms like iOS(iPad/iPhone), Symbian, Android, Sony PS3, PSP, Nintendo Wii, Microsoft X360, PC, Online and other CE devices. The gaming practise has games published on AppStore, Intel AppUp, Kongregate and other online sites.[citation needed]
TATA Elxsi game services portfolio includes game engineering, game art and game testing.
- Game engineering services include graphics and production tool development for the game studios, game porting, game expansion packs, game engine programming and modifications, integration with social networking websites, enabling games for 3D stereoscopy and game testing.

It also offers storage, network and infrastructure management services for the Indian and overseas markets.
