Participant Comments

Welcome!

The demographics of Wikiproject Physics ranges from high-school students curious about physics, to physicists with a lifetime of experience in research in a specialized field. All are welcomed to participate, as all can offer different insight. Sometimes physicists forget that not everyone understands the intricacies of the Pauli exclusion principle, or what is renormalization, and they need someone to remind them that the world population is not made of Physics Nobel Prize Laureates. Other times, an editor can make a bold edit and inadvertently get some details wrong that only experts are able to find and correct, and that's where they come in. You don't even have to be good at physics to contributes to WikiProject Physics, as there are ton of things you can do here that have nothing to do with physics! If you're good with tables, then you can find articles that have ugly tables in them. Maybe you're good at making sure the Manual of Style is followed. Whatever your background and whatever your interest, welcome at WikiProject Physics!

The list will be checked monthly to monitor activity. Users with no contributions in a month will be listed as inactive. Users inactive for three months will be removed from the list, and archived as former participants. Users will be sent a message every six month (one in January, one in July) to reconfirm their interest in WikiProject Physics and be archived as former participants if they wish to leave WikiProject Physics.

Technical Editors

More mathematical content on the physics pages is very appreciated, and we know just how difficult it is to write quality mathematical text. If you have expert knowledge in a field, members of the project are prepared to help with copyediting, informal peer review, proper sourcing, literature review, and with any administrative matters that may come up. If you are looking for suggestions, there are some topics which require mathematical expansion here. If you are unsure how to begin providing mathematical exposition, don't hesitate to ask!

Remarks

The following table lists users who are participants in the WikiProject Physics. If you don't know how to add yourself to the list, use the USERNAME entries at the bottom of the list or see the examples. If you still have problems, leave your info at the bottom of the page and someone will eventually take care of it.

Instructions to add yourself to the list

Text to copy paste into the list

Please try to keep the list in alphabetical order. To add your name to the list you can add the following to the list of participants:

|-

{{nowrap|[[User talk:USERNAME|talk]]·[[Special:Contributions/USERNAME|contributions]]}} <br>
| Yes
| <gravitation>
| <i am interested in editing pages about gravitation>

Please make sure that there is a |- immediately above and a |- immediately below your entry, else the table will not display correctly.

A few remarks:

  • User: Please do not use signatures, as these can take a lot of space.
  • Areas of interest: Tell us a little about yourself
  • Role within WikiProject Physics: If you want to be involved in supporting the WikiProject Physics community or in keeping the various things of the WikiProject up to date, this is the place to tell us.
  • Experience/Education: Sometimes people look for experts on specific topics, or people who are in the know. This lets them know what's your "formal" background.
  • Date: The time at which you've joined WikiProject Physics.

History of project page and archive

Prior to 2008-06-25 the list of participants was not kept up to date. The list featured a lot of people who stopped writing on Wikipedia or on Wikiproject Physics. This made it very difficult to find active participants. On 2008-06-25, the old list was archived, and was restarted from scratch. The list now contains more information about participants, and it is now a lot easier to coordinate the efforts of WikiProject Physics.
