Schneider has been labeled "the nation's electionmeister" by the Washington Times and "the Aristotle of American politics" by the Boston Globe. Campaigns and Elections magazine called him "the most consistently intelligent analyst on television." Schneider has been named one of the 50 most influential Washington journalists by Washingtonian Magazine.

Schneider joined CNN in 1991 and is regularly featured during CNN's election coverage. He was once a resident fellow at the [[American Enterprise Institute]] in Washington, D.C., and serves a contributing editor to the [[National Journal]] and [[Atlantic Monthly]] magazines''.

Schneider is co-author, with Seymour Martin Lipset, of The Confidence Gap: Business, Labor and Government in the Public Mind. He has also written extensively on politics and public opinion for the Los Angeles Times, the New Republic, the Washington Post and other publications. Schneider's analysis is regularly featured on CNN's The Situation Room, Lou Dobbs Tonight, Anderson Cooper 360°, American Morning, Headline News and CNN International.

William "Bill" Schneider (born October 8, 1944) is an American journalist. Currently he serves as CNN's senior political analyst and Distinguished Senior Fellow & Resident Scholar at Third Way, a Washington think tank. Schneider is also serving as the Omer L. and Nancy Hirst Professor at George Mason University's School of Public Policy.[1]

Education

Schneider has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Brandeis University in Massachusetts and earned a doctorate in political science from Harvard University, where he later taught in the Government Department. From 1990 through 1995, he was the Speaker Thomas P. O'Neill Jr. Visiting Professor of American Politics at Boston College. In 2002, he was the Fred and Rita Richman Distinguished Visiting Professor at Brandeis University. He has also taught courses on politics at Stanford University.

Awards

In 2003, He was awarded the Centennial Medal for contributions to societythe by the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences at Harvard University .[2] In 2001, he received the Julian P. Kanter Award for Excellence in Television from the American Association of Political Consultants.[2] He is also the recipient of the Brandeis University Pride Award and the Alumni Achievement Award.

In 2009, the International Foundation for Electoral Systems presented Schneider with a special award “for his extensive coverage and keen insight of the 2008 United States presidential elections . . . showcasing democracy in action” to the world.[2]
