Template:Infobox television Amazing Race The second season of The Amazing Race Philippines featured eleven teams of two, each with a pre-existing relationship, in a race around the Philippines. Derek Ramsay returns as the host of the show.[1]

The show premiered on October 6, 2014. It was first aired every Mondays to Fridays at 7:00 p.m., and Saturdays at 9:00 p.m. (PST) on TV5. During the third week, it was moved to 9:00 p.m. every Mondays to Saturdays; also, a special recap episode of every 6 weekly episodes airs every Sundays at 9 p.m. (PST).[2]

Dating couple Matthew "Matt" Edwards and Phoebe Walker were the winners of the second season of The Amazing Race Philippines.

Production

Development and filming

The ruins of Baluarte de San Diego in Intramuros, Manila served as backdrop of the starting line for the second season of The Amazing Race Philippines.

In late 2013 TV5 announced that it renewed the show for a second season. TV5 earlier announced that this season, dubbed The Amazing Race Philippines: Biyaheng Asya, would feature challenges across several Asian countries;[3][4] however this was later dropped due to unknown reasons.

Filming took place late August of the following year. Like the first season, TV5 commissioned the Australian production company, activeTV to produce the show.[5] According to executive producer and director Michael McKay, this season was to have major changes with a tweaked format and the dropping of Fast Forward.[6] A total of 39 cameras were used in filming the second season with drones filming aerial shots.[7]

In Leg 1, judges featured in the "Priscilla, Queen of Desert" task included theatre actors Menchu Lauchengco-Yulo, Michael Williams (both starring in the actual musical), Joey Mead King and Resorts World Manila Entertainment Head Colin Kerr.

In Leg 2, Jodilly Pendre from Asia's Next Top Model was featured as the clue giver at the Makati City Go Kart challenge.

Notable Pit Stop greeters include actresses Jasmine Curtis (Leg 1), Ritz Azul (Leg 3), Beauty Pageant contestant, Heidi Ronato (Leg 4), and Festival Queen (Reyna ng Aliwan 2014), Steffi Rose Aberasturi (Leg 6), Miss Bohol 2014, Queenie Melody Fullante (Leg 7), Miss Iloilo 2014, Janine May Coo (Leg 8).

Casting

Auditions were held from June 13, 2014 to June 28, 2014 (extended from July 18, 2014). Applicants must be at least 21 years old, a Filipino citizen or a permanent resident of the Philippines. Auditions were done via three methods: online, mail-in, and on-ground at TV5 Broadway Studio in Quezon City and at other various locations.[8][9]

During the press conference held on September 22, 2014 at Resorts World Manila, the contestants were revealed. The cast includes Juan Direction members Daniel Marsh, Charlie Sutcliffe and Matthew "Matt" Edwards, a member of the girl group Eurasia Phoebe Walker, Filipina boxer Gretchen "Chen" Abaniel, former Pinoy Big Brother housemate Luz McClinton and former noontime show host RR Enriquez.[10]

It was revealed on the show that after their elimination in Leg 2 and subsequent confrontation, Pinay World Champs boxer Gretchen "Chen" Abaniel and Luz McClinton were no longer friends and would no longer speak to each other after their elimination and that at the time of the episode's broadcast that they still have not spoken to each other. Chen was absent at the finish line and did not join with the other racers.

Broadcasting

The show broadcast as a weekday program airing 30 minutes per episode, 6 times a week for 10 weeks beginning October 6. Unlike the first season, each leg is shown over a course of 1 week with each episode showing, at least, one task that teams complete. The race to the Pit Stop airs on Saturdays and a 30-minute recap of the weekly episodes airs on Sundays.[2] This is in contrast to other versions of the show which airs each leg in 1 to 2 episodes per week. The penultimate episode was an hour long and showcased not only the final task and subsequent race to the Pit Stop but also highlights of the entire race at the end. The final episode and finale also aired for an hour on December 7.

Voting history

In this season, teams would encounter a "Voting Board" sometime during the leg. Here, they would have to cast their vote for the team they wished to delay for that leg. Unlike last season however, teams were not aware if the team they were voting for would either be "U-Turned" or "Yielded" until the clue prior to the "Reveal Board". The team with the most votes would either be delayed by a U-Turn or a Yield. Teams U-Turned would have to complete both Detour choices while teams Yielded will incur a time penalty and would have to turn an hour glass at the Yield Reveal Board before proceeding with the race.

Leg 1 (Metro Manila)

Much of this leg took place in the business districts of Makati and Taguig

Air dates: October 6–11, 2014

At the starting line in Baluarte de San Diego in Manila, host Derek Ramsay informed teams that there would be ten legs in the race before setting them off. Their first clue was the season's first Roadblock. In this Roadblock, teams had to travel to the SM Aura shopping mall in Taguig where one team member had to do a face-first rappel from the 29th floor off the office tower to the mall's penthouse where their partner was waiting to receive their next clue.

Teams then headed to the Imperial Ice Bar where they had to unscramble ice blocks containing letters to spell out "Stock Exchange" and were left to figure out that their next destination was the Philippine Stock Exchange in Makati. There, teams had to decipher a cryptic message and had to figure out that the numbers on their paper corresponded in a certain way to the numbers and initials on the stock market trading board. After figuring out the pattern and decoding the message (Find Green Coat At Fountain), teams would be given their next clue outside at a nearby fountain from a lady wearing a green coat.

At the University of Makati Stadium, teams would have to duel in a 100 meter track and field sprint. The winning team in each duel would receive their next clue while the losing team would have to wait for the next team to arrive. The duels would continue until only one team was left. The last remaining team needed to run one lap around the entire oval with coaches Rio dela Cruz and Ani de Leon-Brown to finally receive their clue.

In this race's first Detour, teams had to choose between Serve or Souffle. In Serve, teams had to travel to the Little Tokyo restaurant in Makati and take food orders of various Japanese dishes from customers. If they could memorize and correctly recite them to a chef, they would then have to serve the right dish to each customer to be given their next clue. In Souffle, teams would have to travel to the Center for Culinary Arts and bake a whole batch of CCA's Signature Filipino soufflés. If the head chef was satisfied with their work, teams would be given their next clue.

The next clue instructed teams to go to Newport Performing Arts Theater in Resorts World Manila. There, teams would have to don costumes and perform a drag routine from the musical, Priscilla, Queen of the Desert to the satisfaction of the judges. If their performance was approved, they would receive their next clue. This clue directed them to the first pit stop of the race, the Manila Central Post Office.

Leg 2 (Metro Manila → Cavite & Batangas)

The Basilica de San Martin de Tours served as the second pit stop of the race.

Air dates: October 13–18, 2014

Teams began the second leg of the race at Resorts World Manila than at the previous Pit Stop. Their first clue sent the teams to City Kart Racing Circuit. There, they would have to kart race in groups of five teams. The top three teams to win the heat would be able to stand on the winners' podium and get their next clue while the bottom two teams would have to wait for the next three teams. The second group had five teams competing with the top three teams receiving their next clue while the bottom two had to race with the last two teams to arrive at the race course. The last group had four teams competing with the top two teams getting their next clue. The last two remaining teams had to do six laps around the race track before being able to continue.

The next clue had teams driving to Imus, Cavite where they would have to proceed to the Urban Peak Rock Climbing Gym at Lotus Central Mall for the Roadblock. For the Roadblock, one team member had to rock climb and retrieve one of several plastic water bottles at the top of the climbing wall. Underneath the caps of the bottles were numbers that teams would use later in the leg. The clue sent the teams to the public market in Bauan, Batangas.

Upon arriving at the market, teams would have to cast their vote for the team they wish to delay on this leg. At the market, teams were given their next clue: the Detour. In this leg's Detour, teams had to choose between Fruits or Fashion. In Fruits, teams had to purchase specified amounts of fruits on a list using only the allotted amount of money, and deliver these using a wooden cart to a marked area in the market. In Fashion, teams had to dress a mannequin using five pieces of clothing they would have to purchase from the various stalls in the market. After dressing the mannequin, they would have to return it to a marked stall and convince locals to exchange the clothes they're wearing for the ones on the mannequin. Once all pieces of clothing are exchanged, teams were given their next clue. The clue after the Detour instructed teams to first drive themselves to the Shrine of Our Lady Lourdes in Tagaytay for the U-Turn Reveal Board to see whether they can proceed to Sky Ranch or go back and complete the other Detour choice they did not complete.

When teams arrived in Sky Ranch, teams had to ride a Ferris wheel to find their next clue in the ride's gondolas. Teams would first start with the gondola matching the number under the bottle caps from the Roadblock challenge. Depending on which gondola they choose, the clue can either tell teams to try again or tell them to proceed to the next location: Canyon Cove Resort. If teams are lucky, the numbers under their caps can immediately reveal a gondola containing their clue otherwise, they would have to wait and finish the rotation of the Ferris wheel before choosing another gondola.

At Canyon Cove Resort, teams had to dig through 100 sandcastles to find their next clue, a miniature model of the Basilica de San Martin de Tours, from below the sandcastles and were left to figure out this as their next pit stop. If teams fail to find a clue in a sandcastle, they must rebuild it before they can resume their search.

Leg 3 (Batangas → Pangasinan)

The Provincial Capitol of Pangasinan was the location for the third pit stop of the race

Air dates: October 20–25, 2014

At the start of the leg, the teams traveled by chartered bus to their next destination: Manaoag, Pangasinan. The first five teams left on Bus A while the last four teams left on Bus B. Upon arriving at the Our Lady of Manaoag church, teams would have to search the stalls for their next clue by asking each stall "May clue ka ba para sa akin?" ("Do you have a clue for me?") until a vendor hands them their next clue. Their next task instructed teams to take one of the car keys from inside the same stall and proceed to the back of the church in order to have their car blessed. Teams would be given and had to recite a prayer in front of the priest performing the blessing rite for Kia Sportage car they will be driving for the entire leg.

After the blessing, the priest would give them their next clue: the Roadblock. Teams would have to drive to the Babaliwan fish port where one team member would have to ride a marked boat and deliver two basins of fish to the Magsaysay Fish Market. Upon arriving at the market, the team member would have to unload the fish from the boat by crossing a long, thin wooden plank and deliver the basins of fish to a marked fish stall where the market vendor would give them their next clue. If teams drop their fish in the water, they would have to go back to the fish port and get a new batch. If they drop fish in the water for a second time, they would incur a penalty. Their next clue sent teams to the Giant Clam Stage at the city plaza where teams had to perform a local Bangus Festival dance with 150 festival performers to the satisfaction of the city mayor. If the mayor was satisfied, they would be given their next clue. Before performing the dance, teams would first have to vote for the team they wished to delay on this leg.

The next clue directed teams to drive themselves to Bonuan Blue Beach and find "Douglas MacArthur" who would give them their next clue. Upon arriving at the beach and finding MacArthur's statue, teams would find a clue box located at the base of the statue. The next clue instructed teams that McArthur could not wait for them and was instead waiting for teams to report for duty at his office. Team had to figure out that MacArthur's old office was at the West Central Elementary School. There, teams had to identify the three items on his desk that were not from the World War II era. If they fail to choose all three correct items in a single attempt, they would have to go back and wait for all the teams to finish before they can try again. If successful, "MacArthur" would give them their next clue.

Their next clue sent teams driving to Lyceum-Northwestern University for the Detour, a choice between Investigation or Operation. In Investigation, teams would be briefed on how to correctly identify and handle evidence in a crime scene. After being briefed, teams would be brought to a mock-up crime scene and in addition to drawing a chalk marking around the victim, correctly identify evidence found relating to the crime and number them. If they correctly identified all the evidence, they would be given their next clue. Otherwise, they would have to be briefed again and redo the task. In Operation, teams would be briefed on the names of various medical instruments. After the briefing, teams would go to an operating room where a mock-up operation was being done. Teams had to correctly identify and hand over five instruments that a doctor would be calling during the misy mock-up operation to get their next clue. After the Detour, teams must first proceed to the U-Turn Reveal Board to check whether they can proceed to Bella's Calasiao Puto Factory and Pasalubong Center or go back to complete the other side of the Detour.

At Bella's Calasiao Puto Factory and Pasalubong Center in Calasiao teams had to go through stacks of puto trays and find the puto containing a marked base. Teams would have to remove each puto from the tray using a stick and if no puto on the tray contains a marked base, they would have to go through another tray until they find one. They would then trade the base for the next clue which directed them to the Pangasinan Provincial Capitol in Lingayen for the leg's Pit Stop.

Leg 4 (Pangasinan → La Union)

The Poro Point of San Fernando was the location for one half of the Detour

Air dates: October 27–November 1, 2014

At the start of the leg, teams had to drive to Pugo, La Union and head to Pugad Pugo Adventure Park. There, teams were given several balls and had to ride a zipline over La Union scenery and had to either drop one ball into any of the inflatable pool targets or two balls into the large swimming pool below. If none of them are successful, they would have to go back and redo the challenge. Teams had only five attempts to complete this challenge.

Teams had to first travel to the bird statue in Agoo and vote for the team they want to delay on this leg, before driving to San Fernando for both Detour choices. In Brains, one team member had to go to the top of Poro Point lighthouse and give directions to their team member so they can solve the puzzle on the ground below. In Broom, teams had to drive to the San Fernando wet market and find a marked broom vendor who would give teams 20 brooms to sell for ₱120 each. When the team is able to sell the brooms for a total of ₱2,400, the broom vendor would give them their next clue.

The clue after the Detour sent teams to Bacsil Ridge. There, teams had to don protective gear and enter the forest where they will encounter “Japanese snipers” from World War II at the site of a major battle. Teams had to successfully retrieve their next clue without getting hit with a paintball pellet. If teams get hit, they had to return to the starting point and wait for the other teams to finish before redoing the task. Teams then drove to Red Clay Pottery Craft where they had to successfully deliver a clay pot, completely intact, to a stand on the edge of the road to get their next clue. Teams would soon discover that the pots had not been baked and were still made of soft clay.

The next clue was a Roadblock, teams would have to go to Urbiztondo Beach where one team member had to figure out a way to pass through rows of surfboards and surfers that were guarding the way. If they choose the wrong surfer, they must go back to the start and wait for the other teams to finish before they can try again. The clue after the Roadblock directed the teams to Ganaden's Nook By the Sea where they must paddle out to sea, using a surfboard, to a marked buoy for their next clue. Before doing the task, teams had to first check the Yield Reveal Board on the beach to see if they could proceed with the task or if they had to turn the hourglass and wait before continuing. If teams are unlucky, the clue would tell them to try again and if teams were lucky, the team would be able to proceed to the Pit Stop, the Pindangan Ruins.

Leg 5 (La Union → Ilocos Sur → Ilocos Norte)

Teams had to search among the Bangui windmills to find their next clue

Air dates: November 3–8, 2014

At the start of the leg, the teams had to drive to Galimuyod, Ilocos Sur and head to the paddy fields at Barangay Bidbiday. There, teams had guide a carabao and plow through a marked field to get their next clue. For the Roadblock, teams had to drive to the Bangui Wind Farm. Here, one member of the team must choose a key from a board and use it to unlock the correct door to one of the fourteen windmills containing their next clue. Before performing the task at the beach, teams had to first cast their vote at the Voting Board for the team they want to delay on this leg.

Arriving at tne Kapurpurawan Rock Formation in Burgos, teams had to ride a horse going to the challenge area. At the challenge area, teams had to retrieve rocks from a pile and stack them to a height of 1.5 meters. This will be measured by the clue giver using his cane, if their stacked rocks are of the correct height, teams can make a wish and get their next clue. At the Paoay sand dunes, teams had to ride quad bikes and travel along a marked course measuring around 88 hectares. There are 20 check points with a basket, but only 3 check points contain their clue. Teams had to be careful in choosing because each basket can contain their clue, an hourglass (which teams have to turn over and wait for the sand to run out before they can continue on), or a Rexona pass that guarantees the team that the next three checkpoints won't contain their clue.

The clue had teams traveling to Laoag for both Detour choices. In this Detour, teams had to choose between Music or Massage. In Music, teams would have to travel to a diner and recruit 15 people to join them in a song and dance performance. Once the teams and their band of locals satisfy the judge, they would receive their next clue. In Massage, teams would have to proceed to a massage salon and take a painful, ten-minute foot massage to get their next clue. At Aurora Park, teams had to go through the U-Turn Reveal Board to check whether they can proceed or go back and do the other side of the Detour. At Dhevie Kate's Salt Refinery, teams had to choose a salt pan and search for a crystallized salt containing a red and yellow flag inside in exchange for their next clue. This clue directed teams to the Pit Stop at Paoay Church. However, instead of being checked-in, teams were told to keep racing and were instead, given their next clue by Derek Ramsay.

Leg 6 (Ilocos Norte → Cavite → Cebu)

Fort San Pedro was the location for one of the challenges in this leg

Air dates: November 10–15, 2014

The clue given to them sent the teams to sign-up for one of two charter buses leaving two hours apart to RCD Royale Homes in Silang, Cavite. Arriving at RCD Royal Homes, teams had to choose a model home and build and assemble a kitchen cabinet using the manual provided. After assembling the cabinet, they must let the engineer check their work. Once approved, they would have to work with the RCD staff to hang the kitchen cabinet on the wall, paint it, and let him the check it one more time to get their next clue.

Teams would now have to take a flight to the island of Cebu. Once there, teams had to travel to the Parian monument in the island capital of Cebu City. At the monument, teams had to figure out that a sign ("Bawal umakyat sa itaas!!! Pumunta ng Canso X, bawal magtapon ng basura"; "Don't go up!!! Go to Canso X, don't throw the garbage") would hint them of their next destination and then had to repeat the message to the guard standing at the monument's entrance for their next clue. After, teams had to sign-up and write their time-in arrival for the Roadblock at Canso X Adventure Park. Before signing up, teams had to first cast their vote at the nearby Voting Board and decide which team they wanted to delay on this leg.

At Canso X Adventure Park, one team member had to use a professional mountain bike and complete the marked cross-country trail to receive their next clue. At Fort San Pedro, teams had to engage in a best of three medieval duel against another team. Teams will find three giant coins cut in half. When the two parts are combined they will make up the image of Lapu-Lapu or Ferdinand Magellan, the first team to get the right image on all three coins wins the round. The team that wins the duel with the best of three will receive their next clue. As a penalty for not completing the task, the last team left in the duel would be given a photograph of a model galleon and had to find the same model ship among many ships before they can receive their clue. Teams had to first check the Yield Reveal Board on top of Fort San Pedro to check whether they can proceed with the Detour or turn an hourglass and serve a time penalty.

For this leg's Detour, teams had to choose between Martial Arts or The Art of Cooking. In Martial Arts, teams had to travel to Boardwalk Complex and learn an Escrima martial arts routine consisting of 14 moves. Once they beat the Escrima Grand Master, teams would get their next clue. In The Art of Cooking, teams had to travel to the Mandaue public market and learn to make Poso rice pockets to the satisfaction of the vendor to get their next clue. After the Detour, teams had to go to Espeleta Street and immerse themselves in a big and colorful street parade of the Sinulog festival. Only three teams may enter at at time where teams had to take identify and photograph three differences on the performers that differ from the rest and show the picture to the Queen of the Sinulog Festival. If they fail, they would have to try again and if teams get it right, they will get their next clue and proceed to the Pit Stop, Ibiza Beach at Mövenpick Hotel.

Leg 7 (Cebu → Bohol)

Teams had to first take a ferry to Tagbilaran, Bohol. When they arrived there, teams had to take a taxi (and would be using one throughout the leg) and go to K of C Drive and find their next clue. Unbeknownst to the teams, the clue box was located where a local fiesta game was taking place. There, teams would find out that they would have to run to the clue box while being pelted with colored dye. Before starting the task, teams had to first take a number from the gate for the order in which they would enter the clue box area and in addition, they had to also cast their vote at the nearby Voting Board for the team they wished to delay on this leg.

At the Roadblock, one team member would have to play a traditional fiesta carnival game. Teams would first be given three cubes that were colored differently on each side. On the game board, they would have to place these cubes atop a hanging plane and pull a string to release the cubes onto the lower portion of the board. On the lower portion of the board, the area would be painted with the same colors as those on the cubes. The objective of the game was to land all three cubes with its top side matching the corresponding colors on the bottom of the board. They had to do play the game twice in order to receive their next clue.

After the Roadblock, the clue instructed teams that their next clue was "underneath the fourth president of the Republic of the Philippines" and were left to figure out that their next clue was at the Carlos P. Garcia Memorial Park, at the foot of a statue of the park's namesake. At the Bohol Wildlife Park, teams had to retrieve their next clue at a snake enclosure. One team member would have to grab the clue from underneath a python while the other team member would have to assist by lifting the python. Their next clue was this leg's Detour, a choice between Paddle or Ice. In Paddle, teams had to travel to Loboc River and paddle for 2.3 kilometers while standing on a paddle board to get their next clue hanging from a tree. In Ice, teams had to travel to CDO Ice Plant and retrieve their next clue encased within a large block of ice. Teams would be given an assortment of unusual tools to accomplish this and if are unsuccessful in retrieving their clue in under 40 minutes, they would be an ice pick to help them.

After the Detour, teams had to proceed to Jumbo Bridge and collect six coconuts for each team member along with their clue. Teams would have to bring these coconuts to the Sapitan River bamboo hanging bridge in Sevilla where, upon arrival, teams would have to first check the Yield Reveal Board to see whether they could proceed with task or turn the hourglass and wait out a time penalty. If they could proceed, teams had to cross the hanging bridge and deliver the coconuts to the other side. Upon reaching the other side, the "Buko King" would surprise teams by peeling a coconut's skin using his teeth before giving them their next clue. In carrying the coconuts, teams had to be careful not to drop a single coconut or they would have to restart from the beginning.

Team's final task was at the Bohol Beach Club in Panglao Island, there teams would have to cross one of two available hammock trails that were situated between the palm trees without falling on the ground. Before doing the task the teams had to decide which of them would go first as the second team member to perform the task had to be able to beat the time of their partner to get their next clue. This clue instructed teams to follow a marked trail that would lead them to the next Pit Stop, South Palms Resort.

Leg 8 (Bohol → Iloilo)

At the old Iloilo Rehabilitation Center, teams had to find their next clue without being stickered by "zombies"

Teams had to first take a ferry to Pavia, Iloilo and proceed to the Pavia National High School. There, teams had to engage in a Roadblock Duel against another team. Before starting the task, teams had to first take a number from the cluebox for the order in which they would start the challenge. The team member doing the Roadblock had to choose a carabao and its trainer and ride a wooden chariot along a course. Team members had to be able to capture three flags and cross the finish line and get the fourth flag in the fastest amount of time and in addition, beat their opponent to receive their next clue. The last team left in the duel would have to beat the local champion in order to receive their next clue. After the Roadblock, teams had to cast their vote at a nearby Voting Board for the team they wished to delay on this leg before proceeding to their next destination.

At Netong's Original Special La Paz Batchoy, each team member had to eat one serving of La Paz Batchoy. After eating, teams were left to figure out that their next clue was in the form of a small printed advertisement plastered on the glass window of the restaurant. This advertisement would take teams to Sunset Royal Beach Resort at Anhawan, Oton. Teams encountered an Intersection upon arriving at the resort, forcing teams to work in pairs to accomplish further tasks. In it, Intersected teams had to participate in a local tradition of the Iloilo Paraw Regatta Festival: Body-paint. Each team member had to paint the body of a different team to the satisfaction of the judge to receive their next clue. Teams were no longer Intersected after this task and were no longer required to work together. Their next clue was a Detour, with both choices requiring teams to proceed to the Mandurriao Public Market.

For this leg's Detour, teams had to choose between Bamboo or Bicycle. In Bamboo, teams had to deliver two bamboo poles to a marked drop-off area inside the market, once teams successfully deliver it they will receive their next clue. Teams ere not allowed to carry only one bamboo. In Bicycle, teams had to use a pedicab going to Mandurriao Public Market and fetch a lady waiting for them outside the market. They will have to bring the lady to her destination, along with all of the things she bought, to get their next clue. After, teams had to proceed to the Mandurriao Parish Church to get their next clue but before doing so, they had to first go through the U-Turn Reveal Board to check whether they can get their clue and proceed or go back and do the other side of the Detour.

Their next clue required teams to put themselves in the shoes of a blind person. The teams had to go to a starting point at J.M. Basa Street and put on sleeping masks where they would have to ask the help of local bystanders to guide them to Regent Theatre. There, they would have to find Tammy and Marvi, blind, handicapped students who would give them their next clue. This clue directed teams to travel to a construction site near Pison Avenue. In order to get their next clue, teams would have to correctly answer three multiple questions related to rock music. Using the rocks provided, they must place a rock on the their chosen answer on the answer mat. If they get all three questions right, they may immediately get their next clue laying on the ground in front of them. However, if they get any answer wrong, a dump truck will unload rocks and gravel, burrying the clue right in front of them which they would have to then dig out to retrieve it. This clue informed teams that their next Pit Stop was the old Iloilo Rehabilitation Center.

Upon arrival however, clues hanging on a wall informed teams that the Pit Stop had been "abandoned" due to a sudden infestation of zombies and must now find the clue for the new Pit Stop within the compound. They had to be careful not to get too close to the zombies or they risk getting plastered by stickers, representing being bit. If they do get plastered, they must drink a bottle of "antidote" before they can reenter the compound and try again. If they find the clue, the teams may now proceed to the next Pit Stop that had been moved to a higher ground, the Heliport at Injap Tower.

Leg 9 (Iloilo → Misamis Oriental & Bukidnon)

Airdate: December 1– 6, 2014

Before starting the leg, teams had to call loved ones back home to update them on their status. Teams would now have to take a flight to the city of Cagayan de Oro in Misamis Oriental. Once there, teams had to travel by taxi to Divine Mercy Shrine where they had to count the correct number of steps to reach the top. Once they reach the top, they have to write the correct number of steps on a chalkboard. If they get it wrong, they must go down and count the steps again, if they get it right, the Priest will hand them their next clue. Teams must be able to write the Ten Commandments on a wooden tablet and recite it in front of a choir. The choir's singing voices will determine whether they get it wrong and must try again, or they get it right and they receive their next clue.

Teams have to ride a taxi going to their next location at Madelicious Bakery. There they had to eat several pastels and find one that contains a red custard filling and show it to the manager in exchange for their next clue. But Before entering the bakery, teams must go through the nearby Voting Board and decide which team they wanted to delay on this leg. After, teams had to sign-up and write their time-in arrival for the task at the bakery the next day. In this leg's Detour, teams had to choose between Milk It or Herd It. In Milk It, teams had to milk a cow until they reach a marked line on the wooden bucket to get their next clue. In Herd It, teams must herd a flock of ostrich inside one of the corrals to receive their next clue.

At Cagayan de Oro River, teams wore protective gear and while being assisted by two professionals, must maneuver their boat safely through the raging rapids to get their next clue hanging on a bridge. If teams are unable to retrieve the clue on their initial attempt, they can continue on the route where a flag checkpoint had been placed. At Kampo Juan Eco Adventure Park, teams had to engage in a best of three duel against another team. They must ride the anicycle crossing the distance of over 120 meters suspended above while racing against another team. The team that wins the duel will get their next clue while the one that loses must wait for another team to arrive before they can try again. The last team left in the duel must perform a penalty round by biking the whole course before they can receive their next clue.

Before proceeding, teams had to first check the Yield Reveal Board to check whether they can proceed or turn an hourglass and serve a time penalty. In this leg's roadblock, one team member must cross a bridge spanning 300 meters while memorizing a series of numbers they will encounter along the way. They must unlock all 4 padlocks using the numbers in the same order that they encountered them when they crossed the bridge to unlock the door to their next clue. At Gardens of Malasag Eco-Tourism Village, one team member had to correctly match the five answers of his teammate from the five questions asked to them. The questions were related to the 11 teams of the race. If all 5 answers of both team members match, they will receive their clue and can now check in to the Pitstop, Mapawa Nature Park.

Leg 10 (Misamis Oriental → Camiguin)

The White Island of Camiguin served as the final Pit Stop of the race.

Teams had to first take a ferry to the island of Camiguin. Once they arrive, they must take a multicab going to the Giant Clam Sanctuary for their next clue. Tnere, teams had to put on snorkeling gear and swim to a marked buoy. They must then dive 10 feet underwater to retrieve a giant white pearl from inside the clams, once they arrive back ashore they can exchange it for their next clue. Teams would now have to take a multicab going to Tuasan Falls where both team members must put on rappelling gear and rapell down the waterfall to get their next clue. One team member had to collect several puzzle pieces and while rappelling down must hand the pieces over to their partner and place it inside the bag. Once the team has all the pieces they must continue rappelling until they reach the ground where a local will hand them a puzzle board. They must fill in the missing parts using the puzzle pieces and figure out their next destination to receive their next clue.

In this leg's final roadblock, one team member must take a boat going to the Sunken Cemetery. Once there, the team member will be given 2 minutes to memorize 8 alibata symbols that are embedded inside the monument. After, the team member must travel to the Old Church Ruins back on Catarman island and encountered an 8 layered column where they must spin the alibata symbols in the same chronological order that they appeared in the monument. If they get it right, they can get their next clue from the monk. Teams must now proceed by multicab and by boat to Mantigue Island where they would have to search for the right clue through a field of identical clue boxes that will take them the finish line, White Beach Island.

AGB Nielsen's survey ratings were gathered from Mega Manila households, while Kantar Media's survey ratings were gathered from urban and rural households all over the Philippines.
