Hi there. I'm fairly new to updating Wikipedia pages, but last Friday afternoon I edited a company page I represent (Bill.com) and when I checked back in this morning, it was reverted back to how it looked last week. As you state you are a company representative, you should not directly edit the article about your company; instead, you should propose changes with edit requests(click for instructions) on the article talk page. Why is user allowed to write an article on a health related subject that they are neither accurate or up to date in their information. The page is locked so other members of the public cannot edited and address the subject fundamentally labelling sufferers and playing doctors or God to an extent. Wikipedia:Wikimedia_Foundation_error WORKAROUND Hxc2, Hx3 @ CP/M

Please delete the Hx2 and Hx3 sectional identifiers in CP/M. The WFEM messages I've encountered in the past 48 hours should be trackable via the edit logs for CP/M and PL/I. Aside from the Hx2 and Hx3 tags, there are no article content problems as of this moment. I mentioned PL/I only because of yesterday's problems. Discussion missing: File:Mesilat iasharim1.jpg

The "discussion" begins "This deletion debate is now closed" yet I haven't found one. All that it says is

"File:Mesilat iasharim1.jpg" (in red)

and

"File:Mesilat Yesharim.jpg" (in blue),

followed by "Deleted: per nomination." Where can I read the nomination and discussion?

(it would seem that the edit I just did to replace the deleted image in Musar literature could have been done by the nominator, or one of the discussees)

A couple of years my company created a wiki page on Primary Source Verification and it was published but after a month was deleted. I would like to know why it was deleted pls?

User page said not to exist ("Wikipedia does not have a user page with this exact name")

Hello,

My name is Louis, and I have contributed to Wikipedia over several years under the user page 'Llouest', both in the English and French versions, and I receive regular Wikipedia messages on my 'Llouest' user page.

My question is related to my account and user page, under the alias 'Llouest': every time I open the English version of Wikipedia I get the following notification: "Wikipedia does not have a user page with this exact name. In general, this page should be created and edited by User:Llouest. If in doubt, please verify that "Llouest" exists. Start the User:Llouest page.".

Why is it so, and how to correct it?

Llouest, this is because you have not created a Userpage for yourself. The userpage is distinct from your User Talk page. Your Userpage is used to describe yourself, while the User Talk page is just a talk page. If you write a userpage, the warning will disappear. Hope this helps! It is telling you simply that you have not (yet) created a user page here on enwiki. The place where you have received messages is your user talk page, not your user page. @Llouest: It's also possible to use a single user page across all Wikipedias, but it's not a good idea and I don't know the details. The problem is that each Wikipedia has its own rules and conventions for user pages, and what is acceptable on one may not be acceptable on another. Bulleted list – line spacing problem

Does it only seem so, or is there, in fact, a – slightly – larger line spacing here between the first and the second (indented) line – as opposed to the one between the latter and the third line? If so, why exactly is that and how can that be avoided?--Hildeoc (talk) 14:52, 19 November 2019 (UTC)

​This is a part of the CSS, lists (including sublists) get a slight padding on top: Wikipedia:Village pump (technical)/Archive 154#Inconsistent line spacing between list levels. Difference between Undo and Reverting

Pronunciation

I've seen that some articles, especially biographies, contain ogg files that are labeled "pronunciation" immediately following a name. Where is the process of providing pronunciation within an article described, both technically and policy-wise. If I find an article that uses a transliterated word, in particular a name that was originally in a different alphabet, how should I proceed to add, or get someone else to add, a playable pronunciation? ...Thank you.... jg (talk) 17:49, 19 November 2019 (UTC)

@Jgog2: I have produced a number of these .ogg pronunciation files over the years. I'm happy to provide you with more detailed help directly if you wish, but the basic process is:

• Using a microphone connected to your computer, and a sound recording program, capture a sound file of yourself pronouncing the word/phrase. (I use a free one called HardDiskOgg, which supports various formats including .ogg.)
• Using a digital audio editor, edit the recording to remove excess noise, enhance volume etc., then save in .ogg format. (I use Audacity, also free.)
• Upload this file to Wikimedia Commons using an appropriate upload template, and add to appropriate categories. Use existing pronunciation files on Commons as a guide.
• It is useful to include brief details of your accent, especially in cases where the word's pronunciation can vary regionally. Hassocks5489 (Floreat Hova!) 18:16, 19 November 2019 (UTC)

A couple more points: it is conventional to prefix the file name with the codes representing the language and regional variation in which the word is spoken: e.g. File:En-uk-Brighton.ogg (one of mine) indicates that it is an English word spoken in British English. Similarly En-us, En-au … etc. Then use a template such as {{IPAc-en}} to embed the recording in the relevant Wikipedia article. The lead sentence of Birmingham is a good example. Need some quick help, please!

I've just taken ages to compile a whole lot of evidence to start an SPI, typed into the box provided by Twinkle, but just got the message "Retrieving discussion page: Failed to save edit: ⧼titleblacklist-custom-SPI⧽". I've tried to get onto the online IRC help, but its just whirring away and not loading. Can anyone advise if there's a way to save that data I submitted? If your subject Seth Mai Dayal is notable by our specific definition (see:WP:N) then we want a Wikipedia article, and we will help you make it better. If he is not notable, we will delete any such article, no matter how good it is otherwise, so please start by finding reliable sources (WP:RS) that establish his notability before you waste your time and ours on a futile effort. Referencing

Dear Everybody

I submitted an article by means of "paste and copy". The article was extensively referenced (74 endnotes. To my dismay I discovered that all references (numbers in text at the appropriate places) disappeared from the text on the Wiki page. I then "pasted and copied" all my references in the section "References", but there was (of course) no connection to the main text. I then got a message from one of your editors to the effect that my text was not acceptable because it lacked references. Is there a way to insert the text with references into the Wiki, or do I really need to go through the (complex) process of referencing you outline on your "help pages" all over again? I should like to add that I hold a PhD in Philosophy and have published some books, so am very familiar with the process of and need for referencing.

I am more than willing to help Wikipedia.org remain completely free of external influences, but I would like to know that this organization will remain 100% unbiased concerning any and all information it posts. I also understand that all people are biased to some extent, but I believe that having to oppositely biased people proofread an article is another way to remain unbiased. Free information is the greatest gift we can give our children, and that information’s accuracy is my greatest concern.

All Wikipedia editors (about 100,000 of us in the last 30 days) are unpaid volunteers, each of whom does whatever they wish to do, subject only to review by other editors who try to correct any breach of our policies and guidelines by reverting edits and discussing them to reach consensus (WP:BOD). This chaotic process is surprisingly effective. You are an editor, and you wish to counter bias in articles. You will be most effective by actually editing biased articles to add reliably sourced (WP:RS) opposing views and by removing unsourced biased statements. You can also add {{npov}} tags, but that is the lazy approach: you are merely asking other editors to do the work. Someone has created a page about me - Stuart Waiton. It has been created with the sole purpose of depicting me as anti-Semitic and transphobic. I am neither of these things. Hello Stopsectarians. I am one of the editors who undid your edit. First, the resason why I undid your edit was because you removed sourced content. Since it is sourced, it can stay, the artical appeaers to be netural to me. Second, you have what is called a Conflict of Intrest. You need to decalre this on your userpage and follow the guidelines outlined on WP:COI. I hope I was able to answer your question to your satisfaction. All right, the first insinuation was a WP:BLP violation since it did not involve you directly. The second insinuation is reliably sourced, but I've reworded it in sentence form rather than as a collection of quotes. I presume this is about the article Proposed second Scottish independence referendum#Opinion polling? (It would be very helpful if people asking about details in a particular article told us which of our six million articles they were referring to, instead of leaving us to guess). The usual answer to "Why isn't X in Wikipedia" is "Because nobody has put it in". Yes, Wikipedia auto-capitalizes the first letter of all pages. User:martin of sheffield isn't a link to your userpage while User:martin of Sheffield is. The ping system looks for new links to userpages. – Thjarkur (talk) 23:09, 20 November 2019 (UTC)

"http" web address preventing citation from being added

Hello! I am trying to add a citation to the Census Organization of India to the Sorde Village article. However, for understandable reasons, Wikipedia does not like the http address. That site is blacklisted. All that advertising that makes up most of that page seems might unlikely for a legitimate government census report. Perhaps a better source is in order? Perhaps from http://censusindia.gov.in/? Not the same as www.census2011.co.in.

Block my Talk page

Since, as you told me, I can't delete my wikipedia account as I requested, and I am not planning to do the contributions anymore, would you "ban" the editor Theroadislong from my account and specifically from my Talk page. I don't want he followed me after deleting my article, and attacking me. It was not my expectation when I wanted to do my contributions to wikipedia. What is disappointment. I have not once attacked Toreeva or deleted her article? The article Natalia Toreeva has been deleted nine times, twice at WP:AFD none of the nominations were mine. This is indeed the wrong venue for this complaint, ANI is where you would need to go to seek a remedy like the one you are asking for. However, I looked at the messages Theroadislong left on your talkpage, and I see nothing that would be likely to be criticised, let alone sanctioned. Their notes to you about reliable sources were civil and accurate - neither IMDB, nor any language version of Wikipedia, is considered RS - as is made explicitly clear in our guidelines, which they gave you links to. All Theroadislong has done is give you pointers on how to improve your editing - this complaint seems to be without merit, and taking it to ANI would likely be futile. Than you are NOT Help desk. You have to learn how to "hear" another person. I wrote the article and asked Help desk to help with editing, because English is my second lang. Instead Theroadislong and 2 other editors started cut the article from 7 p to 1 p, and than submitted for "deletion". How come not qualified editor who does not know Russian lang, Russian art of that time I described (1970-80th), so any citation was named as not reliable sources, can recommend for deletion? It is easier to delete than to show that the editor is not qualified for the editing of this article. Official docs and webs in Russian database - not reliable? Something wrong is behind of this rejection and without good faith. I submitted complain to DRN and the same editor Theroadislong deleted this input, and Talk page where you can see our dispute. Stop tell lies at least to yourself. I don't see the answer for my question, that's why I don't want to continue the discussion. I don't see the respect and see only waste of time. I am out of it. If your research found facts that have already been published in such sources, then please provide those sources so we can incorporate those facts. You are in an unusual situation, because your local newspaper may be interested enough in your research to publish it, and that may suffice. How to differentiate between two sources

Are Forbes and Forbes Media two different websites? I have seen reliable sources noticeboard of wikipedia. There I found the name of website "Forbes" but I couldn't find the name "Forbes Media" there. I am totally confused whether to trust "Forbes" or "Forbes Media" to extract the information. Could anyone help?
