    Bots noticeboard

Here we coordinate and discuss Wikipedia issues related to bots and other programs interacting with the MediaWiki software. Bot operators are the main users of this noticeboard, but even if you are not one, your comments will be welcome. Just make sure you are aware about our bot policy and know where to post your issue.

    It appears that {{|B-bot}} isn't running? It wasn't stopped (at User:B-bot/STOP), B (talk · contribs · blocks · protections · deletions · page moves · rights · RfA) hasn't edited the bot recently, and is largely inactive / 99% retired (which is why I'm asking here first). — < src="Template:Color/styles.css" /> | =Λ= | 13:15, 22 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The bot has edited every day this week. Why do you say it's not running? Prime-factorization (talk) 14:12, 22 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
In the first half of May, the bot was tagging an average of 51.86 (ranging from 32–74) orphaned files per day. Since 15 May, it hasn't tagged a single orphaned file. — Fourthords | =Λ= | 14:58, 22 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
    I've let B know of this discussion. Primefac (talk) 15:01, 22 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi everyone. The problem is that it gets its list of orphaned non-free files from Wikipedia:Database reports/Unused non-free files and that page hasn't been updated since May 15. That list is maintained by HaleBot (talk · contribs) which looks like it has other recent edits ... just not to that one page. I used to get the list of orphaned files from a m:quarry query, but some time ago, the interface was changed breaking what I had and I had never updated it to do something else. If HaleBot isn't going to maintain that page any more, then I'll need to pull my list from somewhere else. --B (talk) 23:04, 24 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I guess then courtesy pings to Legoktm and 0xDeadbeef are in order, though I do note that the bot edited the Unused non-free files page earlier today. Primefac (talk) 08:05, 25 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

FYI, since the database report has run, B-Bot is tagging orphans again. --B (talk) 00:18, 26 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
