Emergency: Can a user delete Iran's history of classical music and art from WP?

Hi,

The same user who was highly involved in an Iranian musician, Kourosh Zolani’s AfD discussion and deleted a huge part of the comments from the opponent side on August 15 and Agust16, has nominated almost every Iranian musicians articles for deletion or speedy deletion today. Here are the links to two pages of names: (page 1) and (page 2). The user is proposing to delete almost all the history of Iranian classical music from WP. This act sounds totally racial and discrimination to me. Is there any policy in Wikipedia to stop this user’s suspicious act? Thank you, Thomasshane (talk) 20:07, 18 August 2010 (UTC)

Women's rights in Iran

More Wiki editors should take a look at this page. A couple of users are adding a sub-section on, and advocating that stoning, which is a Human rights' violation, is actually a Women's rights in Iran, and done to women, for being women, when most victims of stoning have been men, and the law applies to both genders. Ambigious template

Can project members give their opinion on this [1]. I am inclining that it should be deleted. I would appreciate if some editors familiar with Iran and its culture could have a look at the article on Iranshenasi. Is it really "one of the most authoritative journals" in this area. Hi there Wikiproject Iran. I'm a new page patroller and just came across the new article New Bonab. Can any of you confirm whether this is really a separate town from Benab? The two descriptions sound very similar; if they're the same page then the two should be merged. Perhaps someone here knows which is the better title as well. World Heritage Site Bam

Hi! I am working on improving the List of World Heritage Sites in Danger and stumbled upon the following: Bam and its Cultural Landscape (official name of the WH site) redirects to Arg-é Bam which technically is just part of the WH site. On the other hand, there is also the Bam, Iran article which contains the WH site template, but possibly (?) covers a larger area (old and new city?) than the world heritage site. I just wonder, how big the following three entities are relative to each other: (i) (modern) Bam city, (ii) WH site, (iii) Arg-é Bam. Hmmm. In my opinion, there must be just 2 entities. (i) Bam city (ii) Bam Citadel (in Laztinized Persian: Arg-e Bam) which is a WH site. I believe Bam and its Cultural Landscape is ambiguous and it would be better to be deleted.--Aliwiki (talk) 19:11, 5 December 2010 (UTC)

According to UNESCO, the WH site is bigger than the citadel. Quote: "The principal core zone consists of the Citadel (Arg-e Bam) with its surroundings. Outside this area, the specified remains of protected historic structures include: Qal'eh Dokhtar (Maiden's Fortress, c. 7th century), Emamzadeh Zeyd Mausoleum,..." That's why I think that the WH site should be either covered in the Bam, Iran article or in a to-be-written Bam and its Cultural Landscape article. "Bam and its Cultural Landscape" is the official UNESCO name of the WH site and should not be deleted in my opinion (even if it is just a redirect). bamse (talk) 21:38, 5 December 2010 (UTC)

You're right. Know much more better than me about Iran! Iranian versus Persian

Hello all, I was wondering if I could get some feedback from this Wikiproject regarding calling people from Iran as Iranians or Persians. My thoughts is that currently the country is known as Iran and all major international organizations call it Iran, and thus it's citizens are Iranians, and that Persians can either refer to the the historical territory and/or Persian-speaking people in Iran, and as well as a synonym for Iranians, but that the most common name is Iranians and thus Wikipedia should use Iranian. There is a back-and-forth between me an an editor on a number of pages including Fariborz Sahba which seems to me to be politically motivated to separate it from the current Iranian government. Prime Minister or Premier?

Should the term Prime Minister or Premier be used to refer to the Prime Ministers/ Premiers which came before the constitutional revolution? Both terms are often used in the same article e.g. Amir Kabir. Can the two terms be used interchangeably. On a related note is the term President of the Senate or Speaker of the Senate the correct one? The articles for the Senate of Iran and Jafar Sharif-Emami use both. Is Javad Parsa notable?

Different photographs of his has been on the covers/front page of Time magazine and newspaper Sharq. After his picture of Irans president figured on the front page of Sharq, he was banned for 3 months from entering regjeringskvartalet (free translation: Government headquarter) in Iran.

"Iran lobby"

I've just come across The Iran lobby in the United States, an orphaned article which looks potentially quite problematic - I don't know much about the topic, but it reads fairly one-sided, and may not be appropriate for a Wikipedia article. (Apart from anything else, a contribution by a user called "Minitrue Propdep" is faintly alarming). Could someone with expertise take a look? If need be, it may need deleting, or partially merging into Iran – United States relations.

Cinema Rex fire

Is this really true? In Satrapi's book she says that "everyone knew" the Shah did it, and it was a book published in the 2000s. I started an article on the Sardasht Dam and this PDF appears to have some valuable information but I cannot use Google Translate because my computer doesn't have the embedded fonts. majleses articles

There are articles for the majles elections (e.g. Iranian legislative election, 2000) but not for the majleses that those elections elected (for the 2000 election for example that would have been the "Sixth Majles of Iran". Tower Tomb Sayyed Se Ton

Does someone familar with these type of Sufi shrines in Iran be willing to help us out at Tower Tomb Sayyed Se Ton and WP:Articles for deletion/Tower Tomb Sayyed Se Ton. I had to nominate the current version of the article for deletion as the (now blocked) author has a bad history of creating copyvio articles (so policy dictates that the current version is presumed to be a copyright violation due to that author's history), and the current version is virtually unreadable. Although I have nominated the article for deletion, I agree with other editors that this article could be saved it was re-written properly. Are there any volunteers willing to take that on? Thanks. reliable source/notability help request

There is an article Bahador Kharazmi which uses only persian sources. The sites themselves of many of the sources are reliable (bbc, etc), but since I cant read persian, it is not possible for me to tell if these are just blogs, in passing references, PR announcements, etc. We have had a lot of trouble with the editor's of this page, doing a lot of sockpuppetry, and interfering in maintenance/deletions on other articles, and we are fairly sure the primary editor is the subject himself. Prettymuch I want to delete the page - but if the sources good, then it can probably stick around. especially as the content of the page itself is nothing notable. Subject claims one song charted, which is unreferenced. So in any case, if somone could review the sources and perhaps comment on the article talk page that would be great. Question about Ata Airlines head office

About Ata Airlines, I took a look at the English page at http://www.ataair.ir/english/saleview.aspx - It says that the "Centerl Office", the "Ataairl Line Department," is in Ekpatan, Tehran, while there is the "Tabriz Centeral office" is in Tabriz. Does this means that Ata Airlines has its head office in Tehran? Does the Persian page at http://www.ataair.ir/saleview.aspx also say that the head office is in Tehran, with a secondary office in Tabriz?

Background: There was a previous requested-move survey which ran from late May to mid June. There was a great deal of controversy surrounding the closure and subsequent events, which involved a number of reverts and re-reverts which are the subject of an ongoing arbitration case.
