The Egypt national under-23 football team (Arabic: منتخب مصر الأوليمبى), nicknamed The Pharaohs (Arabic: الفراعنة), is the national team of Egypt Under-23 and is administered by the Egyptian Football Association. The team's main objectives are to qualify and play at the All-Africa Games and Olympic Games

History

Egypt had a great history in Olympic football first time appearance was in Antwerp – Belgium during the 1920 summer Olympics played one match against Italy, first ever official international match for the Pharaohs they lost 2/1 in August 20, 1920. And the legendary story goes on, 9 more times the Egyptian flag rose in the Olympic football Erena achieving the fourth place twice in Amsterdam 1928 and Tokyo 1964. since FIFA decided to make the Olympic football an under 23 years tournament Egypt qualified Twice in Barcelona 1992, London 2012.

Player eligibility

Players who are selected, will be 23 or younger in the following Olympic year. With the next Olympics being held in Rio de Janeiro 2016, players need to born on or after 1 January 1993. At the Olympic finals tournament, the team may be supplemented with 3 over-age players.

On 26 August 2015, the CAF announced that Egypt had withdrawn from the competition. Burundi, the team eliminated by Egypt in the final round, declined to replace them due to short notice. Therefore, only seven team competed in the tournament, and Group B, where Egypt were drawn in, was composed of three teams only.
