Live Oak  United Kingdom The ship was wrecked on Harbour Island, Bahamas. Her crew were rescued. She was on a voyage from Gibraltar to Havana, Cuba.[2]

John and Elizabeth  United Kingdom The fishing smack was wrecked on Düne, Heligoland. Her crew were rescued.[1][6]
Rochdale  United Kingdom The ship was lost on the Niddings, in the North Sea off the coast of Denmark. Her crew were rescued.[4]

Zuma  United Kingdom The ship struck the Knowl Sandbank. She consequently foundered in the North Sea off Hollesley Bay, Suffolk. Her crew were rescued.[8]

Ship State Description
Fanny  France The cutter was on route from Saint Malo to Jersey when an onto the rocks called Les Buts behind Elizabeth Castle. 13 passengers and crew were saved and the National Institution for the Preservation of Life from Shipwreck, which had been founded the previous year, awarded three gold medals and a silver medal in recognition of the bravery of their rescuers.[9]

Jane  United Kingdom The ship was wrecked 12 nautical miles (22 km) from entrance to the Bosporus. There were at least eight survivors. She was on a voyage from Odessa, Russia to Bristol, Gloucestershire.[26][27]
Speedwell  United Kingdom The ship sprang a leak in the Atlantic Ocean off Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain and was abandoned by her crew. She was on a voyage from London to New Orleans, Louisiana, United States.[28]

Ann  United Kingdom The sloop struck the Mystone Rock, in the North Sea off the coast of Northumberland and sank between 1 and 8 February. Her crew were rescued. She was on a voyage from Dundee, Perthshire to Gothenburg, Sweden.[43]
Four Sisters  United Kingdom The ship was wrecked near Le Tréport, Seine-Maritime, France in early February with some loss of life. There were thirteen survivors.[48]
John  United Kingdom The ship was driven ashore on the Sandwich Flats, Kent in early February. She was on a voyage from South Shields, County Durham to Bordeaux, Gironde, France.[7]
Letitia Tennant  United Kingdom The ship was driven ashore at Stromness, Orkney Islands. She was on a voyage from Riga, Russia to Belfast, County Antrim. Letitia Tennant was later refloated bit drove ashore again and was severely damaged.[49]
Mary  United Kingdom The ship was driven ashore and wrecked at Whitstable, Kent in early February. Her crew were rescued.[13]
Neptune  United Kingdom The ship was driven ashore on Texel, North Holland. Netherlands and was abandoned.[41]
North America  United States The ship was wrecked on Bimini, Bahamas in early February. She was on a voyage from Nassau, Bahamas to Key West, Florida.[24]
Strong  United States The ship was wrecked on Mayaguana in early February. She was on a voyage from Gonaïves, Haiti to Baltimore, Maryland.[24]
Woodstock  United Kingdom The brig was wrecked on Mayaguana in early February. She was on a voyage from Jamaica to London.[24][50]

The East Indiaman was destroyed by fire in the Bay of Biscay with the loss of 81 Lives. Of the survivors, 547 people were rescued by Cambria and fourteen by Caroline (both  United Kingdom). Kent was on a voyage from London to Bengal, India.

Florida  United States The ship was swamped at sea with the loss of 24 of the 40 people on board. Ten of the survivors reached land in the ship's longboat. The fate of the other six is not known. Florida was on a voyage from St. Augustine, Florida to Havana, Cuba.[52]

Mally  United Kingdom The ship was driven ashore at Douglas, Isle of Man. Her crew were rescued. She was on a voyage from Liverpool, Lancashire to Limerick.[53]

The steamboat was set on fire and sunk in the Mississippi River by a boiler explosion with the loss of three lives. Another twelve to eighteen lives were lost when a boat from the steamboat Washington ( United States) with survivors on board capsized.[63]
