Your RfA

[edit]

Heh, I knew one day, if you EVER accepted an RFA, you would get the record for support. 169/0/0? That's just creepy. I didn't know we even had that many editors who knew RfA exists ;) Now go vandalize today's featured article. Redwolf24 (talk) Attention Washingtonians! 05:05, 7 December 2005 (UTC)

If you're thanking early, I might as well congratulate you early. ;) Good job, you now have the undisputed record for an RfA! That should tell you you're doing something right. :) Titoxd(?!? - did you read this?) 05:09, 7 December 2005 (UTC)
Since it has now closed, I can now award you with the anti-vandalism flamethrower (+25), which I don't doubt is in good hands now. Titoxd(?!? - did you read this?) 03:25, 8 December 2005 (UTC)
Titoxd, you are clearly mistaken. The available evidence obviously shows BDA has made been making a horrible mistake... He kept refusing to run for admin. Should have joined the cabal much sooner. (Especially since we are now all out of toasters.) Congratulations all the same BDA. Dragons flight 05:42, 7 December 2005 (UTC)

Well, it looks like I won't be the first to congratulate you, but at least I got here before it got too crowded. Congratulations on the strong show of support that you received from the community. You have earned every one of those votes. DS1953 05:59, 7 December 2005 (UTC)

I'm just following a paper trail. I echo DS1953 at least it's not to crowded yet..:-D Congrats.KnowledgeOfSelf | talk. 07:12, 7 December 2005 (UTC)
Me too! ;-) Congratulations! You will make a great admin! —Kirill Lokshin 14:26, 7 December 2005 (UTC)
Hehe... you got a shiny new gift there! ;) Titoxd(?!? - did you read this?) 03:26, 8 December 2005 (UTC)

Congrats. I'm sure you'll do very well. Cheers. PJM 06:26, 8 December 2005 (UTC)

I'm an admin now!!

[edit]

Hi, thanks for voting on my rfa - the final tally was 50-0-0. I made your tally 176-0-0 and hope that it crosses 200. btw, just saw ur user page - it may be considered inappropriate that you mentioned your standing for rfa either on ur user page or talkpage. And, on the lighter side, I think that nominations like ours shd be shown as links instead of transclusion once they cross 20-0-0 ;) --Gurubrahma 12:00, 7 December 2005 (UTC)

  • Congratulations again on your adminship. With respect to your concerns about mentioning my adminship nom, please note that I have not advertised it anywhere (e.g. I have not put up a banner atop my page saying "please come vote here"); the one mention on my user page is purely a biographical note, akin to noting that I work in Coral Gables or that I was in AmeriCorps; as for this talk page, I have not raised my RfA at all - many other editors have dropped me notes about it, and I've responded to them, as is appropriate for any conversation. While I do not see anything wrong with the practice of some nominees to put garish banners atop their pages announcing their candidacy, I simply chose not to go that route. Thank you for your support, and again, congrats! BD2412 T 13:58, 7 December 2005 (UTC)
My comments were general in nature and did not refer to your talkpage. And your explanation does make sense in hindsight. Great work and good show!!--Gurubrahma 14:05, 7 December 2005 (UTC)

Your RfA

[edit]

Getting a little cocky now aren't you ;-) "Although my RfA is not over yet" you never know, maybe 168 people will vote against you in the next day! Congratulations on your impending success(Now I can say I was the first to congratulate you) As an added bonus, now you will get to be my new Essjay, you will get to block all the vandals that I need blocked. Have fun.

Prodegotalk 13:54, 7 December 2005 (UTC)

  • Actually, before saying you were the first to congratulate, look up the page a ways... also, an RfA nom requires something in the range of 75-80% support, so it would only take 60 oppose votes to knock me out of the running. Cheers! BD2412 T 14:00, 7 December 2005 (UTC)
See only 60, OK well I'll be the first to congratulate you after I got a thank you message then. Do I at least have that record? If not I'll congratulate you at the second your RfA closes and get that! I will get some record related to the most successful admin nomination ever! I will!
  • Early congratulations from me too! —Bunchofgrapes (talk) 17:29, 7 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit]

The RfA's going well, isn't it? What's your secret? Take my מזל טוב/Mazal Tov/Congratulations now before all your 176 supporters fill your talk page with them (at least you'll remmber mine) ;-) Izehar (talk) 14:06, 7 December 2005 (UTC)

Although my RfA is not over yet, I figured that since so many people (ahem!) voted before it had been posted, I may as well start thanking people before it wraps up. Hall Monitor, your support is particularly meaningful to me, because I know what a damn fine admin you are, and will be privileged to be part of any group of which you are a member. I'll do my best as an admin to make the reality rise to the level of the dream. BD2412 T 04:56, 7 December 2005 (UTC)

Just adding my congratulations in here BDA... (I had to do it somewhere, and didn't want your Talk page to blow up overnight...) I considered congratulating you before your RfA had closed, since the way things went, that seemed like the next logical premature step...but I neglected to keep in mind that pesky little UTC thing, and thought I had a few hours yet. :-( Maybe when you step up to bcrat... ;-) Anyhoo, mazal tov on the most amazing RfA ever!  :-) Tomertalk 03:31, 8 December 2005 (UTC)

RFA

[edit]

I fear I was out of commission on a tall ship when your RFA was begun (one I hoped to do myself, but knew I would have to fight many others for the honor of instigating) and now there are too many damn support votes that my browser can't handle the sheer size. So I'm casting my support vote, along with my simultaneous congratulations, here. I knew it would be a record, but I didn't know you'd blow the hinges off the ceiling with such velocity. (Note: mixing metaphors is a hobby of mine.) Well done, and welcome to the cabal club. -R. fiend 02:48, 8 December 2005 (UTC)

Sysop

[edit]

It's my pleasure to notify you that, consensus being reached (by the largest margin I've ever seen!), you're now a administrator. You may wish to read the reading list and how-to guide at your convenience. Most sysop actions are reversible, the exceptions being history merges and deleting pages (but it's a good idea to be careful with all of them). Again, congrats on becoming an admin. -- Pakaran 02:55, 8 December 2005 (UTC)

Your fan club is so enormous that you can call on an army to support any decision you make, you know. As of now, you are at the head of my super-secret list of users who could, in an emergency, usurp Jimbo without any complaints. My only worry about you is that I wonder whether, or if ever, you sleep. Of course, I've never seen it affect the quality of your excellent work. So, whether you're a parasomniac, an android, or just an average superhuman, I'm glad Wikipedia reaps the benefit of your power! :) Best wishes, Xoloz 04:25, 8 December 2005 (UTC)

Not at all impressed. There are a handful of wiki editors who didn't vote for you! I suggest we make a list of them and shame them... (seriously, congrats. The vote speaks for itself) Grutness...wha? 05:19, 8 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit]

Congrats on your promotion. I hope you can continue working at the same level you are now.

Officially, your record stands at 183/0/0. Enochlau's vote was made late after the deadline, and I adjusted it on your RFA page. [1] I personally do not think counting late votes is fair. Most of them occur between the time that the vote ends and when a bureaucrat actually processes it. This period may vary, such as Ann Heneghan's RFA, which was closed by a bureaucrat almost a full day after the deadline – 4 late votes were made. Don't you agree? Zzyzx11 (Talk) 05:31, 8 December 2005 (UTC)

  • I do indeed - but what about the nine votes cast before I officially accepted the nom (but after I indicated that I was going to accept it shortly)? BD2412 T 05:34, 8 December 2005 (UTC)
    • The early votes are officially accepted by the bureaucrats. It is the late ones that get into that grey, disputed area. Zzyzx11 (Talk) 15:22, 8 December 2005 (UTC)
Many congratulations, glad to vote for you. I must sat, I do like the new gold, it looks very...prestigious. Cheers Banes 06:28, 8 December 2005 (UTC)
Personally I count late votes. In a case this exceptional, I don't do the exact math... but if it had been closer, I'd have worked in the late vote. Discounting votes is something to take very seriously, and do rarely. Other B'crats may disagree, of course. -- Pakaran 07:28, 8 December 2005 (UTC)
Keep in mind that I normally add new enties to my User:Zzyzx11/RFA nomination records after each RFA is processed. Since 'crats cannot de-sysop once one is promoted, I really only make the adjustments when I definitely know it will not affect the outcome. For extermely close calls, I would probably would add a footnote to my page instead. Zzyzx11 (Talk) 15:22, 8 December 2005 (UTC)

re: A note on my RfA

[edit]
I don't know whether this should have any bearing on my final tally (or if should even be concerned about it at this point), but as I've gone through the votes writing thank you notes, I realized that my nominator (Izehar) never actually voted in my RfA.

It seems like that issue is in a gray area. In fact, I am not even sure if most of the bureaucrats check whether or not a nominator has actually cast a support vote. It is certainly not explicitly expressed on WP:RFA. In your RFA, that one vote is not significant enough to change the outcome of the vote, or what's listed on my records page. But I would really only be concerned if that one single vote made a difference on whether or not one is promoted. Zzyzx11 (Talk) 06:51, 9 December 2005 (UTC)
