User:KelvSYC/List of Live Audio Wrestling awards

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is a list of awards given by Live Audio Wrestling in their year-end award shows. Awards are given over the course of two episodes: the Best of episode, typically the last episode of the year under consideration or the first episode of the following year, and the Worst of episode, awarded the first week without a pay-per-view event after the Best of episode. Each host of the show nominates a pick in each category, and may also name ties and "honourable mentions" in each category. The MMA Report has its own set of awards, which may differ from John Pollock's picks on the show proper, due to different selection criteria.

Nate Milton also provided unofficial picks in the edition of Review-an-Impact following each show (sometimes restricted to the pro wrestling awards) in 2012 before reserving awards for his own podcast (The Kings of Sport) in 2013; Wai Ting had given unofficial picks in the same manner in 2011 but since 2012, has made official picks on the show proper.

Worst Pay-Per-View[edit]

Up until 2009, there was a single award covering both wrestling and mixed martial arts pay-per-view events. In 2009, this category was split to two separate awards for wrestling events and mixed martial arts events, and in 2011 the mixed martial arts event category was no longer restricted to pay-per-view events, instead focusing on supercards in general.

Worst Wrestling Pay-Per-View[edit]

Wai Ting does not normally have a pick for this category, as he tends to skip most wrestling pay-per-views, as revealed on the LAW's podcasts; if he believed the show was bad going into the show, he would likely have not watched it live, if at all.

WTF Moment of the Year[edit]

This award, first presented in 2008, is given to the moment in the past year that makes a viewer ashamed of being a wrestling or mixed martial arts fan, or the moment that evoked the strongest namesake reaction. The award was inspired by the former "Jabroni of the Week" segments from the era that Dan Lovranski was the technical producer of the show.
