A tag has been placed on 2005 Thailand Open – Doubles requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content. You may wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. –Dream out loud (talk) 00:57, 6 October 2010 (UTC)

Untranslated German on an English-language site

I don't believe the failure to translate a few words on an English-language page makes the page qualify for a language=German parameter, as you now insist is the case at Mariah Carey singles discography (previously, you insisted it was French). The site is English, and not French, and not German. The manager's Swiss and it's not astonishing that some things go untranslated from what I assume is the webmaster's usual language. It's still an English-language page, so we should leave the language unspecified (unless you want to compromise and say language=English, with some German). Yes, the Biographie page is pure German, and if we were citing that page I'd have to specify the language as German, but it's not part of our reference, so it's irrelevant.

I'm tired of playing revert games with you, and I don't appreciate the condescension of phrases like "did you bother to click the tab" and "if you bother to check the link". I assure you I visited the page in question, as I do with every page I review, change, cite, or add in an article, every time. That's the way one is supposed to do it, and I'm insulted that you implied otherwise. As it is, I'm wondering why you insisted on French in your first reversion, if, in fact, you had bothered to examine the page before reverting, you should have left the French right out of it. And if you had bothered to study my edit before reverting it, you would have seen that I removed a citation that had nothing to do with the Australian peak of "Just Stand Up!". My edit also provided instructions on using the right tab, and corrected the work/publisher parameters, but your revert undid those changes, too. In future, please assume good faith, although I do make mistakes, and take some care when you revert others' edits. Thanks. — JohnFromPinckney (talk) 14:37, 23 October 2010 (UTC)

I'm not one to get in someone else business on here but when it comes to Pro wrestling and our Project members going out of line then it's my business as well. For the record 3RR only applies within a 24 hour time span of edit wars not a 48 hour time span as you said on Mickey's talk page. You edit to Bragging Rights (2010) was not right just leave it there before you make it worse for yourself and for others.--Nascarking 16:55, 23 October 2010 (UTC)

Long Island, Kingsport

True, what you have written is mostly correct about the Long Island of the Holston in Kingsport. There had been a reference to Tennessee getting its name from the Cherokee meetings on Long Island that was factually incorrect, as the "Tanasee" Indian settlement was in Monroe County on the Little T, and had nothing to do with either the Holston River or Long Island.

When I was in Tennessee history class at Dobyns-Bennett in Kingsport 40 years ago, we were told and taught that most of the Cherokee dealings in the area occurred on the river portion at the Netherland Inn, near the confluence of the North and South Forks (Kingsport is on the South Fork). There were Cherokee outposts on the island, but none of them in village form. Again, that's what we were taught in school there. I always took the teachers' words as fact, since nobody knows more about things than the people who have lived there all their lives.Csneed (talk) 01:37, 17 November 2010 (UTC)

OK, Fine

That's OK.. the Long Island edit must have come from somewhere else. Sorry! Csneed (talk) 22:51, 17 November 2010 (UTC)

You added the Expand template to the Government of Wales Act 2006 (which happens to be on my watchlist) ...
* The template says: “Further information might be found on the talk page”, but you haven't provided your rationale for adding the template (i.e. exactly what you want to happen to the article)
* Hundreds of thousands of Wikipedia articles need further input/expansion; why choose this one?
* I took a look at the history page; your only contribution to the article was to add that template.
* The most obvious question, of course: what stops you from expanding the article yourself, instead of expecting others to do it for you?
Just curious like. I find the best strategy is just to get stuck in, other editors then tend to come out of the woodwork. Let me know if you think I can help. Cheers, Daicaregos (talk)

Thank you for your reply (although you haven't answered any of my questions). I don't see the point of it, myself. As I mentioned, the template says: “Further information might be found on the talk page”, but you haven't provided your rationale for adding the template (i.e. exactly what you want to happen to the article). That makes it drive-by tagging , which should be removed. Daicaregos (talk) 09:59, 4 December 2010 (UTC)
The problem you "fail to see ... in which [I am] trying to point out" is that it is far easier to 'drive-by tag' an article, than to do any work on it. This is a wiki: nothing is preventing you from improving any article that needs it - and there are hundreds of thousands (perhaps millions) of those. Just tagging an article is pointless. Your 'drive-by tag' has not improved the article at all, and you didn't even bother to identify exactly what you want to happen to the article, on the Talkpage. If you want an article to be improved, you have to improve it. But as your tag has been removed by another editor, the point is now moot. Daicaregos (talk) 13:00, 5 December 2010 (UTC)

Hey, just to let you know, I addressed your last comment on the FLC. I added a note about the naming. The only thing I didn't address was about the two charts. I'm not sure if that affects the AFD process at all. If not, just ignore the information. Hazardous Matt (talk) 23:10, 24 January 2011 (UTC)
No problem. I'm still unexperienced at anything other than minor revisions. (I really have no desire to get too knowledgeable about how the more complex things run.) He seems to devalue his own point with his last few comments, so its probably the best time to back away. Hazardous Matt (talk) 23:15, 24 January 2011 (UTC)

I'll hold off on the GAR notification issue if you're going to work on the article with Nascarking. This is one of those situations where I think the person needs to explain why they did what they did. He's ducked the question twice, and I doubt he's going to learn from it. Anyway, like I said, if you're dealing with things, I'll back away. Hazardous Matt (talk) 03:16, 3 February 2011 (UTC)

Good to know. I'm trying to ease up on it. I've raised the question. Others can run with it. I have to babysit people who do half-hearted efforts all day, it's not something I really want to get in the habit of doing on Wikipedia. Dallas

It's already in the main page Dencod16 (talk) 10:07, 1 March 2011 (UTC). It is redundant to put in the draw as well. Then remove the link to the main article, if everything is in the main draw article already, what is the purpose of the main article link. Dencod16 (talk) 10:18, 1 March 2011 (UTC) The lead serves both as an introduction to the article and as a summary of its most important aspects. So the main draw is an introduction. Good Luck Dencod16 (talk) 10:26, 1 March 2011 (UTC). What the hell. 2011 Challenger of Dallas is the main article so it summarizes 2011 Challenger of Dallas - Singles. as to who won and the seeds which are the most important details. Dencod16 (talk) 10:34, 1 March 2011 (UTC)

Tennis

Hey, there is no need to put the lead again in the singles and doubles draws. There just should be the information about who was the last champion and so on. All the info is already stated in the main article... Kante4 (talk) 11:37, 1 March 2011 (UTC)

But the draw articles also link to the main article where everything is explained so i don´t see a reason to put the lead up again. Kante4 (talk) 12:25, 1 March 2011 (UTC)
But then take a look at all tennis articles because it is the same way, example, so let´s continue with that style as it has been done for years now. Still don´t see a point for changing it! Kante4 (talk) 12:39, 1 March 2011 (UTC)
If you want to have it your way than go ahead and edit every other tournament article, thanks. Really no reason to do so as a link is provided to the main article and the article itself has a lead... Kante4 (talk) 15:55, 1 March 2011 (UTC)
But isn´t a draw article some kind of section? If i prefer something or not does not count, i just created the articles like they were done in the past and this way looks ok to me. I like the idea of asking other members. ;) Kante4 (talk) 22:36, 1 March 2011 (UTC)

SO citing commoname means that you would be in the wrong by the resaoning I'm giving. May I suggest that you take this somewhere else KnowIG (talk) 22:14, 8 March 2011 (UTC)
I'm suggesting it so we get a wide range consensus. The 1997 Welsh Internaitonal strange one. I pritty sure that should be deleted, see British rover HC or something I'm sure someone stuck a 97 page there. But still if no one uses the name and it's meant to be a one off tournie. Especally such a historcal one the year should be void. KnowIG (talk) 22:36, 8 March 2011 (UTC)

Myself and other editors added very similar content to what you added, but it was removed by other editors due to this dispute. You may wish to join in with the discussion on the issue at Talk:Eurovision Song Contest#news.az is an unreliable source. CT Cooper · talk 22:26, 13 August 2011 (UTC)

MedCab case

Just so you know, an application for mediation has been made with you listed as an involved party at Wikipedia:Mediation Cabal/Cases/2011-08-29/Eurovision Song Contest 2012. CT Cooper · talk 18:47, 29 August 2011 (UTC)

You removed the video along with images. Can I ask why?

While I agree at the talk page to your assessment, perhaps you would consider my template proposal there for the images. I feel lots of images is a good way to illustrate the damage in the article while also feel they shouldn't over-clutter the article.

-- とある白い猫 chi? 19:48, 29 August 2011 (UTC)

Lots of images may be a nice way to demonstrate the damage of the Hurricane however WP:LAYOUT#Images states "You should always be watchful not to overwhelm an article with images by adding more just because you can" "Images should ideally be spread evenly within the article". Afro (Talk) 20:36, 29 August 2011 (UTC)
I am sorry but did you actually check my proposal? I do not need to be reminded of guidelines and policies mid discussion as it is a very very poor way to continue a discussion. -- とある白い猫 chi? 20:42, 29 August 2011 (UTC)
Well to me it doesn't really solve the issue, I didn't remind you of you MOS to offend you, I quoted it because I feel they still apply to the proposal, in my mind you're still overwhelming a section with imagery and not spreading them evenly throughout the article. Afro (Talk) 20:54, 29 August 2011 (UTC)
I am not offended. It is just that rationales entirely based on guidelines or policies for editorial decisions are very weak. I might argue for instance that since it says "images" videos would not be covered by the guideline but that would again be a very weak argument.
I feel the video should be in the article while other images - I do not have a preference on. I think it would be best if we separate the two issues.
Can we discuss on the article talk page so that the discussion is more people.
-- とある白い猫 chi? 21:03, 29 August 2011 (UTC)
I'm sure if the video is needed in the article you can find another section to put it in. Afro (Talk) 21:10, 29 August 2011 (UTC)
I have placed it back days ago and no one removed it. Since you insist on not engaging in a discussion on the talk page I will assume you do not have issues with the proposal. If you still do have an issue with it, please do post a comment to that end. --15:36, 2 September 2011 (UTC)
Something unrelated in relation to the talk page that was linked to above: (This talk page, I mean) Holy crap, that page is in a lot of categories. LikeLakers2 (talk) 21:55, 29 August 2011 (UTC)

I changed your numbers after investigating a post at Wikipedia:Help desk#US Open (tennis) editions and examining many sources found with Google, for example on "US Open" "130th edition", but now I'm not sure what's going on. PrimeHunter (talk) 17:12, 29 November 2011 (UTC)

2012 Winter Youth Olympics

Are you interested in creating the Great Britain at the 2012 Winter Youth Olympics article? Intoronto1125TalkContributions 16:00, 13 December 2011 (UTC)

Yes I was asking that, because I am more focused with the qualifications for each sport and the smaller countries (like Eritrea who knew they had a skier?). Intoronto1125TalkContributions 16:47, 13 December 2011 (UTC)
I am a pretty big geography fan (currently majoring in geography at university) so I knew, lol. I am only creating articles for countries that have athletes confirmed and listed on their website, and for countries like Eritrea who has only one skier listed on the FIS website (so thats the only athlete able to compete). WikiProject Eurovision: This is a reminder to all members of Project Eurovision, that there is still an ongoing RfC discussion taking place at the project talk page. It is vital that everyone participates in this discussion, as it concerns the future manual of style and article layout in regards to Eurovision Song Contest by Year and Junior Eurovision Song Contest by Year articles. Message from the Editorial Team

Bienvenue! Willkommen! Welcome!

Please be warm-hearted in encouraging everyone to do their best to contribute to all Eurovision-related Wikipedia articles, and welcome our new members to the project. It is easy for editors to get into conflict with each other, and things can get very nasty on the most trivial of issues, whether that be on the language of songs, the names of certain countries, or how we deal with incidents at the contest. In such circumstances it is worth remembering one thing: we are all here to build an encyclopedia, and the contribution of Eurovision to human knowledge can only be given justice if we work together and make articles, not drama!

  • If you would like something to appear in the August 2012 Edition of the newsletter, then please inform us at the Project Newsdesk.
  • If there is an article you think we should have? Request it here.

Happy editing!

Project News
  • When creating new articles about a performer or song, please remember to add sources either from Eurovision.tv, ESCToday or other reliable sources. If you're not sure a source is reliable enough, then ask the project for an opinion.
  • Remember to only add content to articles that is relevant to the article's main subject. Anything not in relation to the article may be questioned and/or subject to redirection to an article that would benefit it's inclusion. Again if in doubt, ask on the article or project talk pages for an opinion - communication is an important tool.
  • On the subject of communication, please make use of the article talk pages. They are a vital tool in conducting consensus talks of additions of proposed new sections and/or removal of unnecessary section. If you don't use these pages to put across your views, then you only have yourself to blame if actions are taken that you disagree with and you end up wandering into edit warring territory.
  • The 2012 season of Eurovision has drawn to a close, and we now start preparations for the 2013 edition. While things will be slow to start of with, now is the ideal opportunity to do a clean-up exercise across articles relating to the project. There's over 4,500 articles associated with the project. If you happen to see a Eurovision related article without the {{EurovisionNotice}} template on the article's talk page, please add it. You can also read Wikipedia:Version 1.0 Editorial Team/Assessment if you would like to help assess or reassess articles in our project if you see that they have outgrown their current assessment. There is currently one unassessed article.
  • And finally... a massive thank you to all members of the project for your constant hard work on collaborating and contributing to Eurovision related articles. Keep up the good work team!

Project Gossip
  • The RfC discussion in regards to article layout, is still taking place on the project talk page. Could all members please ensure that they participate in the discussion so that we can all agree on important article structure issues. If you don't take part, then you only have yourselves to blame if a consensus is passed that you disagree with.
