Bong warrior
Hello. What does you user name mean Dimadozen (talk) 01:50, 14 January 2008 (UTC)
- Hi Dimadozen. It doesn't mean anything in particular, it's just a name I think is funny. See bong, if you don't know what that is already. Take care. --Bongwarrior (talk) 02:05, 14 January 2008 (UTC)
I thought it may have meant something like that but I know some Asian people have the name bong as a surname and a good surname at that. I also thought you were implying that you were some kind of warrior but with a bong. Dimadozen (talk) 02:11, 14 January 2008 (UTC)

- Hi Work. It looked to be a page about yourself, and it's not really appropriate for Wikipedia. Have a look at our notability guidelines to see what I mean. However, if you'd like to recreate the page on your userpage, I don't think anyone would have a problem with that. Welcome to Wikipedia, and don't be too discouraged. Take care. --Bongwarrior (talk) 09:09, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
Just an I'm-intrigued question: What exactly was wrong with this article the user has mentioned, Bongwarrior? Wilhelmina Will (talk) 08:57, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
- Hey WW, nothing too bad, but not a notable subject. It had to go. --Bongwarrior (talk) 09:09, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
I'm presuming he's a newbie. Judged by the fact that his talkpage has a red link, he also has not been told of where to go to look for help. But don't worry. Being part of the welcoming commitee, I'll see to it he knows where to go. Have a good day, Bongwarrior! Wilhelmina Will (talk) 22:23, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
Vandalism revertion
Hi! Thanks for your repeated efforts in reverting vandals, such as with User:Crustillicus. Could I remind you though please, that reverting the vandalism is only the first stage in the process - the vandals do need to be warned. The templates on Wikipedia:Template messages/User talk namespace/Multi-level templates are there to make it easier for us. I appreciate that it is a little bit more work to do that, but what it does mean is that the user, if they are a serial vandal, gets blocked so much quicker: administrators will generally only block if they have had sufficient warnings. If they aren't serial vandals, sometimes just a brief warning on their page is sufficient to get them to stop (and so less vandalism for all round to revert).
If you find putting warnings on the pages to be a hassle, I understand that there are a number of aids to help, such as WP:TW. I don't use them myself, as my computer settings at work prevent me from using such things, but I've heard that they are really good.
Thanks, StephenBuxton (talk) 12:13, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
- Good advice, true, but not really applicable in this case. Check the times: you warned the user once, they stopped vandalizing one minute later, and the problem was solved. I didn't feel the need to pile on more warnings just for the sake of warning. I also fail to see what you hoped to accomplish by warning that particular user to stop vandalizing, an hour and a half after they had already stopped vandalizing. --Bongwarrior (talk) 12:29, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
- Fair comment about the belated warning, I probably didn't need to do it in that instance (I would have added it a lot sooner had my morning break been a bit longer). However, I generally go along the lines of a warning for each item of vandalism (or sets, if I am undoing multiple edits). The way I see it is that the sooner the final warning is passed, the sooner they can be blocked.
- Looking back over that last sentence makes me sound like a rabid vandalism-reverter! I can assure you though that I do exercise the "assume good faith policy" - it is just with the really nasty vandals (you can usually spot them - the ones who replace the entire page with racist slurs or the like), I want them off the site as quickly as possible. Thiessen and Wheel of Fortune (UK)
I notice you are a frequent Wikipedia user and have edited the Tiffani Thiessen article. There's a user at 76.8.176.57 who is making a series of edits stating that Thiessen will host the Wheel of Fortune UK edition. Looking at his edit history I found edits that were promptly reverted, so I reverted his poorly made edit to Thiessen's article and left a talk message for him to cut it out. But there seems to be a theme to his edits and now I'm a little worried that I'm jumping the gun a bit. I can't find any corraboration on the net about a link between Thiessen and WOF. Anyway, if this is an elaborate edit-hoax, someone with more wikipedia experience than me should look into it. --Mike Wilson (talk) 07:00, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
- You did the right thing, don't worry about that. I couldn't find any evidence to support his edits either. Hopefully your warning will convince him to knock it off. Thanks for being vigilant, take care. --Bongwarrior (talk) 08:33, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
Proposed deletion for The Other Nite Show
Hi, I'd like to request you delete The Other Nite Show. It is a non notable community radio show from a minor AM station (and therfore not notable, if you don't delete it any other Australian community radio show could put up a page. Cheers, Ryan. 122.148.64.45 (talk) 13:00, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
- Well, there is now a deletion discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/The Other Nite Show; it looks like another editor created it for you. Would you like to let the discussion run its course, or would you rather the discussion be closed so you can prod it again? Let me know, and I'll ask the other editor to withdraw the AfD nomination if needed. If you'd rather just let it run, you can go there to give your reasons. --Bongwarrior (talk) 03:24, 22 January 2008 (UTC)

- Hello! Can we get another block on User:58.161.146.227? He is back doing the same vandalism to Amber Benson? Would it be possible to request protection for that article too? I forget where to go do that. Thanks. Web Warlock (talk) 16:51, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
- Hi Web Warlock. Someone did the block already, three days. If he keeps it up we'll go with longer blocks. It doesn't look like protection is necessary right now, because most of the vandalism is coming from just that one IP. Thanks for letting me know, I'll try to keep an eye on it. Vandalism?
I find it outrageous that on a Wiki page devoted to an artist, the majority of the text is just negative commentary in the form of quotes from another person. Why not restrict that kind of writing to the page of the person who's doing the bashing? I'm sorry, making someone's quotes seem absurd when they shouldn't be there in the first place doesn't constitute vandalism, especially on what is rumored to be democratically self-regulating website. If the guy who I'm "quoting" doesn't like it, he can change it.
-Joel V
- If you feel the article is unbalanced, by all means fix it. No one is stopping you. But you don't have the right to add obvious nonsense, with misleading edit summaries, and think it will go undetected. --Bongwarrior (talk) 08:01, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for catching the vandalism to that article, I only reverted back because the vandal wiped out the alumni descriptions. Reverting my edits
Mr. Bongwarrior, sir, I apologize if my action has appeared uncivil. I only meant to delete the controversy section from this article. All of the controversy is unsubstantiated rumour- mongering. So I want to do away with it completely. Dahn Yoga, opposed to what this article states, is full of good, giving people and its master is largely responsible for that. Mention of lawsuits is dirty business- sometimes people read this nonsense and decide to forego Dahn altogether, leading them to more stressful and unhappy lives. So you must now understand why it is important for people's well being if they don't see this absolute nonsense "controversy stuff." Can you please advise how I can go about deleting and getting rid of all of this controversy jargon?
Rick Ross and Steve Hassan particularly are two evil, negative men who spread their lies and slander about Dahn and even Scientologists and other religions. Their views and allegations are not relevant to Dahn. I hope you will see what I am getting at here and advise me well. I will be happier in Wiki world if you do! Thanks much sir! Matthew Laffert (talk) 10:29, 1 February 2008 (UTC)
I forgot to say:Hassan and Ross don't have real degrees or knowledge. You can quote me on that. Controversy is never good for anyone, if you can catch me. I need to know if you get me here, understand? I can make myself more clear.
Matthew Laffert (talk) 10:31, 1 February 2008 (UTC)
- Hi Matthew. You can't just delete the entire controversy section because you wish it would go away. You are undoubtedly more familiar with the subject than I am, but I looked over the disputed section and it appears to be well-referenced. If there are any specific elements that have incomplete or unreliable references, by all means take them out, or raise the issue on the article's talk page. Take care. --Bongwarrior (talk) 10:48, 1 February 2008 (UTC)

Looking for your opinion (semi-randomly): what should be done with Ho-Humness? I wasn't sure if it was CSD-able or whether it was simply "odd, but salvageable". —Noah 08:29, 4 February 2008 (UTC)
- My first thought is to redirect it to boredom, but I'm don't think that would qualify as a useful redirect. It's pretty obviously a neologism, which really isn't speediable, although it could possibly qualify under CSD A1, little or no context. Best bet is probably prodding. In any case, I don't think it's salvageable. --Bongwarrior (talk) 08:44, 4 February 2008 (UTC)

About Nathan Brittain
Hi Bongwarrior. I was just wondering why my article on Nathan Brittain was deleted? because it is not a "hoax". To be honest i don't know how it was classed as a hoax because its true. I even had refrences to back it up with. I'm new to wikipedia and i don't know how to cite refrences, so i need to improve that (if thats another reason why article was deleted). I understand that Nathan Brittain played for very small football (soccer) clubs, but i think it deserves credit to be on Wikipedia because he was such a great player in Luxemberg and Iceland.
I would really appreciate a response to discuss this matter further.
Thanks, from NBdonkey. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Nbdonkey (talk • contribs) 12:17, 5 March 2008 (UTC)

Hello... thanks for the note. Well, the name popped up on the 'bot list, and did not come across as a serious attempt to create an acceptable ID. Factor in the nonsense article, and the soft-block seemed warranted. I won't object if you feel inclined to revert, however. Cheers. --Ckatzchatspy 09:39, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
- Granted, not every username is a Picasso like "Bongwarrior" or "Ckatz", but unless it's obviously offensive or otherwise bogus, there is no real need to block. The deleted page is a conduct issue, not a username issue. I'm not going to unblock, because the user has probably created a new name by now if he's really that interested in editing and/or creating nonsense pages. But please try to be a little more selective in the future, especially when it comes to bot reports. Take care. --Bongwarrior (talk) 09:57, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
I just noticed that Black Concert T-Shirt got nominated for deletion and then moved. As the original author of the page, I was notified, but didn't get a chance to comment before the process was closed. I do object to moving the article. The idea of the article is to document the fad/trend/phenomenon that is the Black Concert t-shirt, not concert t-shirts in general. Concert t-shirts have become a small part of the larger merchandising efforts by bands and groups, but the idea of the black concert t-shirt is much different. The black t-shirt is a cultural identifier, a uniform of sorts, that different groups of people have used and continue to use to identify themselves. Yes there are many other colors now, but the traditional idea of a black concert t-shirt needs to be emphasized. At the very least, the article now needs to be more extensive to cover concert t-shirts in general with a specific section on the idea of the black concert t-shirt. As it is, someone is going to come in and remove all references to black, which will lose the original idea of the article. Then the article will have even more cause to be deleted or to be merged with concert merchandising or something. I would like your thoughts on the matter. --Mattarata (talk) 03:59, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
- Well, if you think the article would be better off at the old name, you can always bring it up on the article's talk page and see what others think. But judging from the talk page, and especially from the AfD discussion, it looks like the vast majority of editors were in favor of the move. As for your other concern, it also seemed like most of the editors agreed that the "black" aspect of the T-shirts should be emphasized, so I really don't foresee a problem there. Hope this helps, good luck with the article. --Bongwarrior (talk) 05:02, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
- thanks--Mattarata (talk) 19:41, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
Hi, I have just seen that you reverted this edit: [2] Obviously, it's vandalism. However, somebody announces that he will be "with a pipe bomb outside it ready to blow at 9.30am". Does vandalism like this, making a real threat, happen always here? If not, maybe we should do something about it? Kind regards, --Abrech (talk) 22:22, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
- It happens sometimes. Depending on the seriousness of the threat, it's sometimes mentioned on Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents and/or the proper authorities are notified. This incident strikes me as more of a bored kid than a serious threat. I've blocked the IP for two days, and I really don't think any further action is needed in this case. Obviously, this is no laughing matter. If you feel it's "better safe than sorry" and we should pursue this a little further, let me know or bring it up on the ANI noticeboard. Take care. --Bongwarrior (talk) 22:38, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
- Thank you for your note. I am relatively new to the fighting-Vandalism-business, and I haven't seen something like this before. I am located in Germany and, therefore, unable to do anything about this threat personally. So I left this note. Since I thought you might be offline, I also posted messages like this at the help desk and on the talk page of WP:AIV (close to where it should be posted, but no cigar ;)). Since you have the much more educated judgement on this issue than I have, I don't think further actions are needed. Kind regards and once again thanks for your answer, --Abrech (talk) 22:54, 9 March 2008 (UTC)

- Please read Wikipedia:Notability and Wikipedia:Your first article before proceeding any further. All content must be verifiable by reliable sources.
- Do not continue to blank or otherwise tamper with the Sunday Funday page. It was here first, and it appears to be a lot more notable. If you really think this subject deserves an article, try Sunday Funday (event) or something similar.
- Please do not attempt to use Wikipedia to advertise. The content you replaced Sunday Funday with wasn't an attempt to educate, it was an attempt to promote. Many editors put a lot of free time into this project, and we resent someone trying to use it to make a quick buck.

Show no mercy with this user
here, you blocked the IP for 31 hours. I would have thought after 11! edits to the same page within 9 minutes you would have gone longer. You must be going nicely on the person, i know with an IP it is tough but there was one admin i know who did an indefinite on an IP. At the end of the day you can make an account and all is sweet.
Just a question by the way, is it only after an IP has been blocked that we get to see who it is registered to? At the top you can see this on IPs page. Thanks, keep it up Roadrunnerz45 (talk) 00:52, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
- Well, IPs can change owners, so indef blocking them is usually out of the question, unless it's an open proxy or something. Since the user was vandalizing quickly, I was more worried about blocking them quickly than the length of the block. 31 hours for now is probably enough, future blocks will usually be increased in length. About the registration info, you can see that at anytime using the toolbox at the bottom of the IP's contrib or talk page. Take care. --Bongwarrior (talk) 01:07, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

Hockey Player Vandalism by 168.169.124.215
After seeing the weight and nationality information that 168.169.124.215 vandalized today on the article for Daniel Briere, I checked his/her other edits and found that they have vandalized the nationality portion for Chris Drury (USA to France), Chris Neil (Canada to France) and Brian Campbell (Canada to France). I fixed Daniel Briere's page, and undid the changes to Drury and Neil; someone else undid the vandalism to Campbell's page before I did.
This person should perhaps be blocked, and hopefully has a static IP. If I find much more blatant vandalism I'll probably request usage of the rollback feature.

- I've left a warning on the IP's talk page. I'll try to keep an eye on future edits. Hopefully, he'll knock it off without the need for a block. Thanks, take care. --Bongwarrior (talk) 18:45, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
Hi...
Some n00b used my computer to vandalize star trek. I'm sorry Mr. Bong. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.123.41.35 (talk) 19:55, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
Sir, that article was a work in progress. I was going to add some citations to it and expand it with different sections when you up and deleted it. Please restore? JeanLatore (talk) 06:56, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
Oh by the way I do drugs too, so we should get along together! Friends? JeanLatore (talk) 06:57, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
- I'm sorry, I think it would be best if Anal Sex with Sluts remains deleted. If you feel I have made a mistake, you are welcome to list it at deletion review. Take care. --Bongwarrior (talk) 07:04, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for the RV's man. Revert a single vandalism edit then come back an hour later to that, lol. muchos gracias. -- Shatterzer0 (talk) 07:16, 6 April 2008 (UTC)

Someone is being cheeky
A user looks like hopping on different computers or some people are ganging up in vandalising this page here writing 'hagger?' Look at the page history, im sure you've seen it. Not sure what can be done. Thanks Roadrunnerz45 (talk) 06:16, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
- Revert, block, ignore, until he gets tired. He'll wear himself out eventually. --Bongwarrior (talk) 06:19, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
- That's a lot of different IPs for one event. Why no p.p.? --- Taroaldo (talk) 07:26, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
- It's today's Main Page featured article. We try to avoid protecting those as much as possible. In any other case, it would obviously be protected. It was protected earlier, but I unprotected it in the hopes that he would get bored and quit. Hasn't happened yet, so we'll see. Take care. --Bongwarrior (talk) 07:30, 6 April 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for your help
Hi Bongwarrior,
I'm the guy who attempted a copy & paste move of Rock-paper-scissors to Rock Paper Scissors. It seems I'd forgotten to log in before.
Just thought I'd say how pleased I was to receive a friendly, patient and helpful message in response to my attempted move, rather than "Dont do that OMGWTF!!!11". Admins on other sites should follow your example.
Although it's not your responsibility to help out teh n00bzorz, I figure you must know a fair bit about it. When I attempt to move Rock-paper-scissors to Rock Paper Scissors (the actual name for the sport), I get a message saying that the name is not valid or that a page already exists at that page. Upon looking at the proposed new location, I see that the only content is the redirect tag. Upon removing this, I find that it has been automatically reversed because it is unhelpful.
Just wondering if you could do my move for me, and tell me what I did wrong. If not, no worries, I'll just go to the requested moves page. This way's probably quicker and easier though.
Thanks again.
Cheers, Franklint Franklint (talk) 08:11, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
- Hi Franklint, I've been looking at this. Ordinarily you can move a page to your heart's content, but not if the target page already has a history, which is what happened here. The move can only be done by an admin in those cases. It looks like the previous title was Rock, Paper, Scissors until it was moved here a few months ago. I can understand his reasoning, although I'm not a big fan of the hyphens. I don't want to do the move without a discussion, because a solid case could probably be made for two or three variations of the name. Sorry, but propose it on the article's talk page (make sure to put it at the bottom so everyone sees it :), let the discussion run for a little while and I'll be happy to move it to whatever you guys decide. You don't really need to list it at Requested moves, unless you want to; the function of that page is mostly just to list moves that require administrator assistance (I'll do the assisting), but it also gives the discussion a wider audience, which is always a good thing. Good luck, let me know if I can be any help. Take care. --Bongwarrior (talk) 08:58, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
Why Bongwarrior Why
Don't you have better things to do BongwarriorAndrew CP Kelley (talk) 05:37, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
- I do, but I don't feel like doing them right now. --Bongwarrior (talk) 05:43, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
- Do you get paid for this Bongwarrior? Why is your user name Bongwarrior anyways? I take it they don't drug test you when you get hired.-Andrew CP Kelley (talk) 05:44, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
- Nope, we don't get paid. The pursuit of knowledge is its own reward. --Bongwarrior (talk) 05:49, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
- I don't understand why you do this. Wikipedia is supposed to be for and created by the people. You're acting like an autocratic superior government like that of North Korea or China. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Andrew CP Kelley (talk • contribs) 05:55, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
- I don't understand what you don't understand. Wikipedia is supposed to be improved by everyone...not vandalized by everyone. Thank you BW. While my opinion is no more and no less valuable than any other anonymous posterizer, I see both of those reverted edits you mention as vandalism. Sinneed (talk) 06:56, 7 April 2008 (UTC)

That username
I was debating whether to softblock or hardblock. However, I saw that the last part of it was the zip code for the area. Didn't want to chance it being someone stalking the person in question. Was that too jumpy? Blueboy96 21:16, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
- It was, in my opinion. I understand your concerns, but it's equally possible that no harm was intended. I would have waited for edits. If you think it was the right call, I have no problem with it, but maybe you'd like to reconsider? Take care. --Bongwarrior (talk) 21:23, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
- Maybe a softblock at least? Even without the stalking issues, 40 characters is way, way too long. Blueboy96 21:25, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
- Do what you think is right, don't do it just to shut me up :) Personally, I wouldn't have softblocked either (I'm not a huge fan of long name blocks usually), but I have no problem with others doing so. --Bongwarrior (talk) 21:30, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

apology
i wish to apologise to wikipedia for the inapropriate changes made to certain pages on this site.......i am sorry —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.42.86.132 (talk) 09:15, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
- It's no big deal, just a little extra work for someone to clean up. I assume you were just experimenting, and you see now that changing stuff really does work. Please don't stop editing, just be a little more constructive from now on. Find an article that interests you and see if you can make it better. It can be a lot of fun. Take care. --Bongwarrior (talk) 09:33, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
Gears of War 2 Page?
I recently added some characters that will be playable in Gears of War 2...i also cited them...to the Gameinformer Issue 181..why would they get taken off?
Stupified35 (talk) 05:30, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
- Not sure. Maybe they're trying to keep everything in the List of Gears of War characters and adversaries, or maybe they didn't believe you. I'm not real familiar with the game, so I'm not really sure. If possible, try to find an online reference for it; that way, everyone can check for themselves. Take care. --Bongwarrior (talk) 05:59, 10 April 2008 (UTC)

Just a request. This is about the article Exit Mundi. Please look at the article and have some comment in the talk page of the article if it meets WP:WEB or not. The article is subject to deletion and various tagging. I am confused. Otolemur crassicaudatus (talk) 10:11, 15 April 2008 (UTC)

CRAZY
This is ridiculous. My editing of Langham Creek High School is not Vandalism. All the similar pages related to LAngham Creek High School have Notable Alumni edits made all the time. How come all of those are not deleted? Ali.fazal (talk) 17:18, 16 April 2008 (UTC)
- Notable alumni have to be notable. This and this would seem to indicate that your claims of notability are somewhat exaggerated. --Bongwarrior (talk) 19:04, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

Rollback
What?? I have spent atleast the last hour reverting vandalism and you just swoop in and take away my rollback power? Im very sure atleast 99% of my rollbacks are the result of undoing vandalism!! NOT FAIR! --Energizer07 (talk) 11:06, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
- I am sorry, but I had no choice. If it was anywhere near 99% I would be ecstatic, but it was more like 50%. This, this, this, this, this, and this wasn't vandalism. A few of the users you reverted are admins. You need more practice first. --Bongwarrior (talk) 11:17, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
