You are now a Reviewer

[edit]

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 18:15, 18 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

BBUSA Exempt vs. Immunity

[edit]

Hey, I just thought I would discuss the Exempt vs. Immunity in the infobox I don't want this trivial thing to turn into an edit war lol. Last year we used the phrase "Immune from Eviction" when HouseGuests won immunity from an eviction. Exempt is generally used if the Housemate is exempt from the entire process. ♪♫Alucard 16♫♪ 01:40, 9 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Alreet, as long as it's what it said last year that's good. I just knew that simply "Immune" wasn't right. Change it up! T (Formerly Known as FireSpike) 01:45, 9 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for uploading File:DiamondVeto.xcf. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 09:50, 12 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for File:DougHurley.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:DougHurley.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 01:07, 11 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Help with a UPitt class doing edits to Pittsburgh stubs

[edit]

Hello, I'm teaching a composition course at Pitt that involves researching and writing about Pittsburgh neighborhoods. For one of the students' projects, I'm having them expand existing Pittsburgh Wikipedia stubs. Everyone is new to Wikipedia editing (including myself). We've had some help already from User:Piotrus, but he also suggested I recruit other editors working on Pittsburgh projects to help us. Would you be willing to give us feedback and advice as we move along? Our deadline is 11/22, and I'd love to have feedback for students by 12/6.

My course page is here User:Llh19/pittsburghcityseminar, with links at the bottom to the pages students are editing (6 total).

Let me know if you might be willing to help. Thanks very much for your time and consideration. Sincerely, Llh19 (talk) 01:22, 8 November 2010 (UTC)Llh19[reply]

Hi! Since you're a member of WikiProject Pittsburgh, I wanted to invite you to the Wikipedia Tenth Anniversary celebrations we're having in Pittsburgh on Saturday, January 15. During the daytime, we're going to be having a photo contribution drive where anyone can bring in their digital photos or prints and Wikipedians will teach people how to upload them and add them to articles, and maybe introduction to Wikipedia workshops as well. Crazy 8's band wiki page

[edit]

Greetings!

I received your message, indicating that I had defaced the Crazy 8's page. The entry you point to was a correction of a previous name that I had listed mistakenly: 2:50. Getting out the 30 year old 45 record, the name was actually listed as 2minutes50, which I corrected. I'm not sure why this would be considered vandalism?

T,

as you probably have guessed, I'm new at adding to wiki!

I'm not sure how I reference things that I have witnessed first hand? The funny thing on this particular page that I was working on references a book/article that I can't find anywhere, and doesn't seem to exist. So, as a reference, if I post a history to my own web page or blog, is this reference considered valid?

btw, I'm also a bit apprehensive to add anything else to this page for fear of being "banned" -- do I need to worry about this?

btw2, I'm trying to track down my account, but can't figure out where the email os going to, to reset my password :-(

Cheers!

Happy Birthday (2012)

[edit]

The article Steven Daigle has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

This article is about a non-notable person. Simply appearing on a reality-TV or game show such as Big Brother, American Idol, Jeopardy, etc. does not make one notable. Notable persons have multiple reliable sources verifying their notoriety, and why they should be included in Wikipedia.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Jsharpminor (talk) 08:17, 14 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The article Ian Terry (game designer) has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this newly created biography of a living person will be deleted unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. --MuZemike 23:26, 30 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:IanTerryBigBrother14.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think that your page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. -- Cheers, Riley 02:59, 19 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Jean-Thomas Jobin requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Orphaned non-free media (File:MegaDiningRoom.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:MegaDiningRoom.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Werieth (talk) 17:09, 5 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

File:JimboBigBrother.PNG needs authorship information

[edit]
Dear uploader:

The media file you uploaded as File:JimboBigBrother.PNG appears to be missing information as to its authorship (and or source), or if you did provide such information, it is confusing for others trying to make use of the image.

It would be appreciated if you would consider updating the file description page, to make the authorship of the media clearer.

Although some images may not need author information in obvious cases, (such where an applicable source is provided), authorship information aids users of the image, and helps ensure that appropriate credit is given (a requirement of some licenses).

  • If you created this media yourself, please consider explicitly including your user name, for which: {{subst:usernameexpand|T}} will produce an appropriate expansion,
    or use the {{own}} template.

Replaceable fair use File:ChickenGeorge.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:ChickenGeorge.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. The Big Bad Wolfowitz (aka Hullaballoo). Treated like dirt by many administrators since 2006.
