	The WikiProject Films Newsletter Volume IV, no. 8 - August 2009

Project news

Are you interested in helping the project continue to grow while collaborating with other users? Elections for coordinators will be starting this month. The term is for six months and any member who has at least 500 total edits can nominate themselves for one of the seven seats. Interested members can sign-up at the election page. Nominations will run from September 1-14, with the voting stage lasting from September 15-28.
The tag and assess drive has been postponed to the beginning of October. The drive will focus on reassessing all of the Start, Stub, and Unassessed articles. In addition, articles will be tagged with the proper task forces and improvement tags. Keep an eye out for details of the drive, as awards will be provided to participating editors.
After a recent discussion concerning Future templates, it was decided that they should be deprecated in articles. As a result, {{future film}} is no longer being used in our articles. Discussion over keeping the Future-class within the project will be discussed later this month, so keep an eye on WT:FILM.
The results of the July 2009 article improvement drive are now available. With an initial goal of each member contributing to a single article to a higher class over the course of July, participation only included a few members. Consider visiting the improved articles to see how you can further expand a film-related article you are interested in.
Our project currently has over 60,500 film-related articles, with 55,900 that have been assessed by our assessment department! Remember to always add the {{Film|class=}} template to a film article's talk page so the project can get a better idea of what work still needs to be done. Below is a table showing a breakdown of our articles by class.
Are you new to the project or are interested in getting involved with new areas of WP:FILMS? Remember to keep an eye on the announcements page, which constantly updates current articles that need assistance or are attempting to be upgraded in class. There are a variety of task forces open for various genre and regional film topics. If working on backlogs interest you, there are multiple articles that you could use your help.
Spotlight Update: Multiple films and film-related articles have reached GA and FA status in August 2009. One FA and two GAs were also delisted.

About your message Shakira discography: Thanks for your advice, but really, my version separately are because I'm always reviewing what is best for the article and changing its contents to improve it, meanwhile I review others articles. Re: Digiclock

Thank you very much. Actually it's not that great: the code is inelegant and requires lots of repeats of expressions like: "(24+{{#time:G}}+{{{offset|0}}})" because the MediaWiki variables extension isn't enabled on Wikimedia servers. And even for all that, it doesn't support fractional timezones. I thought about perhaps splitting it into two templates, so the second would be called like a function, but it's also nice having its source kept in just one page. (Any thoughts?) Re:Red links

Thanks for letting me know about the possibile notability problem! The notablity guide for actors says an actor is notable if he has multiple significant roles. Nick Lashaway, the name I redlinked, has had been cast in notable roles in 25/8, Little Murder, and The Last Song, as well as 7 other more minor productions. Isn't this enough? I know his role in The Last Song is very important.

Red Eye w/ Greg Gutfeld

I think the article could take a page from The Colbert Report, with regards to the Segments section. That is to say, I don't really think it needs one. The recurring jokes really does need to be reworked, or (preferably, IMO) stripped down and written into another section. I'm just not sure it requires its own section, yeah? Honestly, I've never watched the show so I don't really know what the primary segments are, do you know? The whole "Joos" paragraph in the jokes section I think can be scrapped entirely. It's good, huh? I'd take a look if we got Fox News up here without fancy cable, but maybe I'll stream an episode or two. We gotta figure out a less clumsy way to word this, though:

Gutfeld will also make frequent and graphic sexual insinuations regarding Bill Schultz, stating or insinuating that Schultz is a "pansexual dilettante", involved in various bizarre fetishes, is a virgin, is African-American or is a homosexual, among similar claims.

It just kind reads really awkwardly. I tried to fix it up a bit earlier, but it needs to be totally reworded I think. Good work with the segments, too. I think a bit about the "Pinch" character is worth keeping in, but I don't think it requires its own subsection. A mention somewhere, possibly in the same area that the "Pinch & Me" segment is worked into, would probably suffice, wouldn't you say? Audiosmurf ^♪/♫ 10:47, 27 September 2009 (UTC)

	The WikiProject Films Newsletter Volume IV, no. 9 - September 2009

Project news

Coordinator elections ended on September 28 resulting in seven elected coordinators: Andrzejbanas, Big Bird, Bovineboy2008, Collectonian, Erik, Lugnuts, and Nehrams2020. Erik will continue in the role of lead coordinator with the other elected members assisting. The coordinators will improve WP:FILMS by introducing and incorporating new elements into the project, and working together in discussions to further improve the project. A full list of the coordinators' responsibilities and information about the election can be seen on the main coordinator page.
As the new coordinators help to organize the Tag & Assess drive, it has been postponed for at least a week to finalize details. You will be getting a notice soon to alert you to the start of the drive as well as to update your status for the project's annual roll call.
Big Bird has proposed a new wording for "Awards and honors" at Wikipedia:WikiProject Films/Style guidelines. Further opinions would help to determine consensus on how to best improve the guidelines.
A popular page list for WP:FILMS is now available on the Wikimedia Toolserver. The list shows which film-related articles are currently receiving the most hits. Page view statistics are updated regularly and will be archived and reset at the end of each month.
Manos: The Hands of Fate is currently at featured article review. To ensure that the article keeps its current status, please consider stopping by and helping to address the concerns that have been raised.
The project's cleanup listing contains many film related articles that have multiple issues. Articles that require the most attention include Film, It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World, Motion Picture Association of America film rating system, Films considered the greatest ever, and Fansub. Any positive contributions to these articles will be most welcome.
Our project currently has over 61,000 film-related articles, with 56,000 that have been assessed by our assessment department! Remember to always add the {{Film|class=}} template to a film article's talk page so the project can get a better idea of what work still needs to be done. Below is a table showing a breakdown of our articles by class.
Spotlight Update: September was a fairly quiet month with just one article promoted to GA status. In addition, three GAs were delisted.

How come you removed the discography off Kerli?

What the heck? What do you mean we don't need it no more? Who said that and why? I'm gonna try to fix this article soon cause right now it looks like crap. And the original picture that you cropped was fine the way it was before. Who cares if you see a little girl in the background cause its obvious who Kerli is. Re: New Moon

How do you feel about this one? Though I'm having trouble finding an original source for the image that doesn't have "Jacob" written behind him. Andrea (talk) 16:33, 22 October 2009 (UTC)

Would you prefer this image of Jacob? We could crop off the bottom, where the logo is. Also, as far as I know there has never been a full group picture of the Twilight cast (too many characters!). Blair Waldorf

Hi. If you have an issue with the tone of the article, could you please specify your concerns on the Talk Page, instead of repeatedly tagging it? Having contributed significantly to that article, it irks me to see a tag at the top with little explanation as to why, and I'd appreciate that you clarify any specific problems you see so that we can go about remedying them. Wanted to say that I noticed some of the issues you seem to have had in one section (for the TV series), and I've attempted to deal with them. If these matters pop up again, can you consider tagging sections instead of the entire article? I believe that a tone tag for the whole thing is somewhat inaccurate, given that these matters don't exist everywhere, and some effort has indeed gone into the article. deletion of images

To Scarce:

I have been following all of your "instructions" to the fullest extent. You accuse me of mindlessly deleting the tags; however, perhaps you should have clarified your reason for deleting my images earlier. Moreover, you requested that I add a link to my file on the Volturi and to also procure a reduced version of it. I have followed it most completely. This is a valid link. Please provide more "evidence" before you revert my contributions to Wikipedia, or I will be compelled to take further action in response.

I don't see significant coverage for that film on it's production, which is the requirement for WP:NFF. I see, it started production and ended production. That's it. It wouldn't survive the NFF test. BIGNOLE (Contact me) 15:24, 28 October 2009 (UTC)

Don't get snippy with me. I'm merely telling you what NFF says, and currently that article fails NFF. As for "in the coming weeks", we've basically had the same information for months, with the only new update being that he changed the name of the film. I follow the policies and guidelines we have. I'm sorry if you do not like that that is how I operate, or if you just do not agree with them. I have not come to that article and redirected it, started a deletion discussion or tried to merge it. Have I? Now, unless you have something to say to me in a more civil tongue, please do not return to my talk page and continue attacking me as you have been doing as of late. Good day. 	The WikiProject Films Newsletter Volume IV, no. 10 - October 2009

Project news

After a long wait, the Tag & Assess drive will start at the beginning of next week. The banner will now be updated to accept the C-class, and remove some of the parameters to simplify the banner and allow the project to better focus on its articles. Instructions will be provided on assessing articles for the drive and prizes will be awarded to members based on the number of articles reviewed.
We are currently having a roll call to update our membership records. If you still consider yourself an active member of the project and would like to continue to receive the monthly newsletter as well as notices related to the project, please readd your name from the inactive list to the active list.
A new page now allows us to see what the project's most popular articles are. The page will be updated monthly and will be helpful to determine which articles should be expanded or further improved. The project's most popular article this month was Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen with over 770,000 views!
Our project currently has over 61,000 film-related articles, with 56,000 that have been assessed by our assessment department! Remember to always add the {{Film|class=}} template to a film article's talk page so the project can get a better idea of what work still needs to be done. Below is a table showing a breakdown of our articles by class.
Spotlight Update: Multiple films and film-related articles have reached GA and FA status in October 2009. Several articles were also delisted from GA-status.
