Bobowasi Island

[edit]

Hello Warairarepano&Guaicaipuro, I just thought I'd let you know that I saw your article Bobowasi Island in the New Articles list-- And have a beautiful day! Cheers, Amy Z (talk) 04:34, 3 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Please see the talk page, there are sources that say that Mr Maduro occupation was a Bus Driver and Union Leader but none that list him as a career politician so I have reverted your change. LGA talkedits 20:41, 9 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

He is not, currently bus driver, he is a politician for many years, as deputy chairman of the congress, chancellor and Vice President--Warairarepano&Guaicaipuro (talk) 01:01, 10 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Then you should have no problem finding sources for that; WP:V makes it clear "Even if you're sure something is true, it must be verifiable before you can add it." you need to find sources for that , it stands to reason that all presidents are politicians. Hi,

I see you reverted my edit. Cool, but I wanted to show that this article is a fake. I’m not English wiki editor. If you don’t believe me, just try to google its name. It exists only in English and Spanish wiki, and I see you edit in Spanish as well.

Proposed deletion of St. Ignatius Church, George Town

[edit]

The article St. Ignatius Church, George Town has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

modern building of no particular distinction

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. DGG ( talk ) 21:50, 11 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Stella Maris Church, Cayman Brac requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. [edit]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Stella Maris Church, Cayman Brac is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Stella Maris Church, Cayman Brac until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. DGG ( talk ) 05:19, 14 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The decision was "Keep", by withdrawal of the deletion nomination. Thanks for creating the article. I will remove the prod on the St. Ignatius one and I hope that will resolve that one too. I hope you will continue with enriching the English Wikipedia. :) --doncram 20:06, 15 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hallo, When you create an article for a subject which has alternative names, don't forget to create a redirect (or disambiguation page entry, or hatnote, as appropriate) for those other names. I've created a redirect from Formosa Cathedral to Our Lady of Carmel Cathedral, Formosa which you created, as otherwise no-one could have found it easily under that name. I also added this cathedral to the dab page at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cathedral and added a redirect from Our Lady of Carmel Cathedral to that disambiguation page - slightly different title but seemed worth including on the same dab page. (And then found another cathedral which needed adding to that page, and so on!). Happy Editing! PamD 10:22, 14 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Problem with category of Roman Catholic Cathedrals in Italy

[edit]

How many non Roman Catholic Cathedrals are there in Italy?Rococo1700 (talk) 19:53, 5 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

How many non Roman Catholic Cathedrals are there in Italy? You did not answer the question.Rococo1700 (talk) 19:53, 5 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Again, You can make a separate category for non-Roman Catholic cathedrals in Italy, or one for Roman Catholic. The category is part of a structure that relates to place. Again there are those that want to make a category of Roman Catholic Italian painters of the Renaissance. That category makes not sense. Neither does yours. Period. The proof is that you can not answer the question.Rococo1700 (talk) 03:43, 6 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

According to Wikipedia in Italian https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cattedrali_in_Italia#Chiesa_ortodossa and English https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_cathedrals_in_Italy most of the cathedrals in Italy are Roman Catholic, but there are also two Greek Orthodox (Greek Orthodox Church; San Giorgio dei Greci [Venezia] and tempio della Santissima Madre di Dio e San Nicola di Mira [Rimini]). and 2 cathedrals Italian Albanian Italo-Albanian Catholic Church (St. Nicholas Cathedral in Lungro and Cathedral of St Demetrius the Martyr in Piana degli Albanesi), if we follow your theory these are all Roman Catholic cathedrals and is not. So as I said, until it is deleted by voting this category, it is valid to use it ... not only because there are many similar categories in many other countries, but to separate them by religious denomination, So if I can answer your question perfectly and easily.--Warairarepano&Guaicaipuro (talk) 20:32, 8 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
No my theory is have one category: Cathedrals in Italy, and then two sub-categories with the churches above.

Much simpler and easier. Does that counter your argument, perfectly and easily? If not, show me a discussion in Categories favoring this. I have had this argument before with people wanting to make Michelangelo an "Italian Roman Catholic painters of the Renaissance". It is true, but not a fact that helps distinguish him from 99% of all Italian painters of the Renaissance. The same applies here. I have no opposition to a category of Greek Orthodox Cathedrals in Italy, etc as a subcategory of Cathedrals in Italy, even if, as a general rule, some editors want categories with three or more entities.Rococo1700 (talk) 23:53, 8 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I have explained why I object, when your create a category for 395 of the entries out of 400 (I am assuming that is the number of Cathedrals in Italy), it makes for more clutter. rather than when you make one a subcategory for the 5 that do not fit. Occam's Razor. Rococo1700 (talk) 02:38, 10 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Dubious source

[edit]

Hi W&G, I saw the source and it does not seem to fulfill the English Wikipedia requirements on reliability. It seems to be a self-published source and therefore it does not seem to be a solid source for (a) naming an item; (b) determining its status. As far as I know, and according to the article in the German Wikipedia and to the sources in such article, it's not a cathedral anymore (it does not seem to have been one of them for centuries). Worse enough, the source you bring seems to invent quite creatively the translations of the names (Santiago el Mayor does have a translation in English: James the Great or the Greater, for instance). Finally, maybe you're noticed that most of your church articles are orphan articles, usually because you don't link them to any other article, but mainly because, as the name is wrong, there's no possibility to have it linked). To sum up, your source does not seem to fulfill the requirements of a reliable source and therefore, before taking verbatim the names it provides and the status it assigns, you'd better investigate in other sources in order to determine whether the editor-in-chief of your source is not simply using too much creativity. Sorry for any inconvenience... --Discasto (talk) 08:04, 13 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Perfecto. Te respondo allí... --Discasto (talk) 09:37, 14 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
--Discasto (talk) 09:55, 14 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject assessment tags for talk pages

[edit]

Thank you for your recent articles, including Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Łowicz, which I read with interest. When you create a new article, can you add the WikiProject assessment templates to the talk of that article? See the talk page of the article I mentioned for an example of what I mean. Usually it is very simple, you just add something like {{WikiProject Keyword}} to the article's talk, with keyword replaced by the associated WikiProject (ex. if it's a biography article, you would use WikiProject Biography; if it's a United States article, you would use WikiProject United States, and so on). You do not have to rate the article if you do not want to, others will do it eventually. Those templates are very useful, as they bring the articles to a WikiProject attention, and allow them to start tracking the articles through Wikipedia:Article alerts and other tools. For example, WikiProject Poland relies on such templates to generate listings such as Article Alerts, Popular Pages, Quality and Importance Matrix and the Cleanup Listing. Thanks to them, WikiProject members are more easily able to defend your work from deletion, or simply help try to improve it further. Feel free to ask me any questions if you'd like more information about using those talk page templates. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 00:27, 27 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Pretty please, second request to use said templates. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 06:32, 25 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Temple vs. cathedral

[edit]

Hi! I noticed you were creating a lot of articles on cathedrals in Mexico. I've been changing "temple" to "cathedral", because in English "temple" has the connotation of a non-Christian place of worship (at least the English dialects that I'm most familiar with). I've been changing them to "cathedral" rather than "Temple" but want to know if there was a reason you were using temple? I know it is common in Spanish, but was wondering if there was another reason. Thanks! TonyBallioni (talk) 16:58, 16 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your explanation at my talk page. I think it would be best to use "cathedral" rather than "temple" in the future because that is the most natural English phrasing for what you are trying to get across. Very few Catholic churches or cathedrals are known as "temple" in English and it's normally as a proper noun when they do (like the examples you showed). Hi, I've undone your edits as the building is a Roman Catholic church, not a cathedral. The church's own website, here [2], shows this. KJP1 (talk) 17:35, 25 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

That it is under the control of a cathedral does not make it a cathedral. None of your changes were in fact sourced. If you can find a reliable source that states the church is a cathedral, then by all means make the change and cite the source. But the church's own website makes it very clear it is a Roman Catholic church. KJP1 (talk) 18:17, 25 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
You may find it easier to keep the conversation in one place, i.e. here. Your own website calls the church exactly what it is, namely "Principal Church of Our Lady of the Assumption and St Gregory" (my bold italics). The church's own website describes itself as a church. I don't know what odd categorisation the website you cite uses, but it isn't, nor has it ever been, a cathedral. KJP1 (talk) 18:28, 25 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Page move

[edit]

Hi buddy, I noticed you moved Saint George Maronite Cathedral, Beirut to St. George's Cathedral, Beirut. I'd like to point out that there are two Cathedrals named after Saint George that are one street away from each other in Downtown Beirut. These are the Saint George Greek Orthodox Cathedral and Saint George Maronite Cathedral. I think moving the article back to its original name would prevent confusion. Let me know what you think and your move rationale. ~ Elias Z. (talkallam) 07:20, 26 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
