Microsoft Office Accounting (formerly Microsoft Small Business Accounting) is a discontinued accounting software application from Microsoft targeted towards small businesses that have between 1 and 25+ employees.[1] It is a direct competitor to Intuit's QuickBooks.

The last version, Microsoft Office Accounting 2009, was available in both Express and Professional editions. It included several new features, including tax preparation add-ins, 20 new reports, and a Spanish language pack.[2]

On 16 November 2009, Microsoft Corporation discontinued its distribution of the Microsoft Office Accounting product line in the US and UK. Existing customers will continue to receive mainstream and extended product support from Microsoft Corporation or one of its partners through January 2019.[3]

Microsoft Office Accounting Express is the free version of Microsoft Office Accounting, available for download online and also being distributed in certain editions of Microsoft Office 2007, including Office Professional 2007, Office Small Business Edition 2007 and Office Ultimate 2007. This free version does not support local requirements outside of UK and USA.
