Wikipedia:Requests for page protection

Page semi-protected
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is an old revision of this page, as edited by 36.77.95.2 (talk) at 20:24, 21 April 2021 (→‎Kallar (caste): Reply). The present address (URL) is a permanent link to this revision, which may differ significantly from the current revision.

Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Current requests for increase in protection level

Place requests for new or upgrading pending changes, semi-protection, full protection, move protection, create protection, template editor protection, or upload protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

    Cedar Revolution

Indefinite extended confirmed protection: Arbitration enforcement. This is related to Arab, to Israel, and to Middle East also. 114.125.12.213 (talk) 12:02, 21 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

    Declined. Per below. El_C 13:41, 21 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

    Baking

    Semi-protection: High level of IP vandalism. 31.187.7.220 (talk) 15:31, 21 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

    Bodak Yellow

Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – There's been a lot of vandalism on this page, looking at the history. I would either semi-protect this or put pending changes protection on it. Thingy34|my edits12|question? 15:31, 21 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Periodic article blanking by multiple IPs. BubbaJoe123456 (talk) 15:43, 21 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

    Scaled and Icy

Temporary Semi-protection: A lot of IP vandalism / misguided attempts at contribution relating to the tracklist Mcguy15 (talk) 15:59, 21 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

    UAAP Season 67

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – The competition happened several years ago, and the supposed champion team got stripped of the title, and there has been slow-moving vandalism by variable IPs to the article saying that they still are the champions. Howard the Duck (talk) 16:03, 21 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

UAAP Season 67 men's basketball tournament

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – The competition happened several years ago, and the supposed champion team got stripped of the title, and there has been slow-moving vandalism by variable IPs to the article saying that they still are the champions. Howard the Duck (talk) 16:04, 21 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

    Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service

Semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – This page, together with Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service has been subjected to an ongoing campaign by a sockpuppet account who disagrees with the removal of unsourced original research. Semi protection to match the other fire and rescue articles targeted earlier in the week would be very useful. 10mmsocket (talk) 16:04, 21 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

A Girl like Me (Rihanna album)

    Temporary semi-protection: Persistent sockpuppetry – Wikipedia:Long-term abuse/MariaJaydHicky. (CC) Tbhotch 16:09, 21 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

    United Kingdom (disambiguation)

Temporary protection: Persistent vandalism. Serols (talk) 16:23, 21 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

    LGB Alliance

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – At least 3 different IPs edited the article today, calling it a hate group or similar without any sourcing. Given the controversial nature of the article's subject, I expect disruption to continue. 15 (talk) 16:25, 21 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

    Marvel Cinematic Universe: Phase Four

Semi-protection: vandalism and many unsorced changes after the end of the last protection (2 weeks ago), see also this--Luke Stark 96 (talk) 16:42, 21 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

    Drew Brees

Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Semi-protection expired a month ago but in recent days the IP vandalism has ramped up again. I'd suggest at least 6 months, this should put the subject (who has now retired) far enough from the news cycle that it should subside at that point; though I wouldn't object to indefinite (with possibility to revisit that at some point) if need be. RandomCanadian (talk / contribs) 16:45, 21 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

    Kallar (caste)

Temporary extended confirmed protection: Edit warring on a caste article by 4 autoconfirmed editors. Please do NOT fully protect the current version, if you feel full protection is required, please go back to say the 1 April version, before this started - Arjayay (talk) 17:29, 21 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Arjayay: Do you know that actually is விக்னேஷ்வர் பா மாளுசுத்தியார் that most conduct edit warring? I believe it should be reported in WP:AIV or WP:ANEW. 36.77.95.2 (talk) 20:24, 21 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

    Kuruluş: Osman

    Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. IronManCap (talk) 17:35, 21 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

    Killing of Mohammad Anwar

Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent addition of unsourced or poorly sourced content – IPs and non-extended users violating NPOV and adding in unsourced details. Previous protections have proven ineffective, now asking for it to be indefinitely semi'd. Etzedek24 (I'll talk at ya) (Check my track record) 19:19, 21 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for reduction in protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin at their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page" which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

    Alison Collins

Unprotection: I have attempted to discuss with El C on Alison Collins talk page. I did not receive a favorable reply. Requesting removal of protection regarding Alison Collins Removal of Temporary Semi-protection: Requester of temporary semi-protection made several false claims in order to dupe an editor El C to grant temporary semi-protection for 60 days. Requester of temporary semi-protection made false claims that edits are editorializations. The edits are not editorializations. They are fully supported and cited by a wide number of unbiased news sources. Second claim by requester, BriefEdits, "Lots of anonymous and shifting IP edits makes it difficult to debate over content issues and neutrality let alone basic manual of style upkeeping." That claim is false and misleading. There is only one editor he is referring to that has an anonymous IP, and that is me. However, my IP is static and has been for all the edits I've made to the article. I have seen on several occasions that BriefEdits uses the practice of deleting other editor's edits to this article, dubiously claiming NPOV, and then paradoxically, BriefEdits introduces NPOV content as a replacement for the deleted edits. BriefEdits makes also a false claim that it is difficult to debate over content issues, neutrality, manual of style upkeeping. That is not true either. BriefEdits and I have engaged in discussion on numerous talk pages. My guess is by BriefEdits requesting semi-protection for an article, he or she intends to lock out any competing edit from any other editor that may offer useful contribution for an unreasonable long time for a lock out of 60 days. Perhaps shorten the lock to a week or remove it entirely. The article continues to suffer from vagueness and lack of clarity due to a low number of unique contributors. By lifting the lock now, the article has a chance to be improved by willing contributors, including by BriefEdits, instead of having to wait 60 days for the article to languish in usefulness due to lack of improvement. Sincerely this anonymous static IP, 2601:645:C001:4A40:D87C:717C:A09D:1C84 (talk) 06:14, 20 April 2021 (UTC) Edited 2601:645:C001:4A40:D87C:717C:A09D:1C84 (talk) 06:45, 20 April 2021 (UTC) Edited2601:645:C001:4A40:D87C:717C:A09D:1C84 (talk) 09:03, 20 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

    Template:Drug use

Unprotection: Only ~150 transclusions - was protected following an incident of vandalism in 2018. Extended protection should be sufficient (protecting admin hasn't seriously edited since 2019). Elli (talk | contribs) 07:24, 20 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

I would like to request that Nuseirat refugee camp massacre be linked under the 'See also' category in the same way this article is linked in the 'See also' category in the aforementioned article. Create a level 3 header with a link to the article in question, then a {{pagelinks}} template and then the reason.

    User talk:Nordic Dragon

There is a double redirect on this page (User talk:Nordic Dragon redirects to User talk:Nordic Nightfury which redirects to User talk:Nightfury) and I would like it to be fixed. Alternatively, it can just be unprotected. 🐔 Chicdat  Bawk to me! 10:16, 21 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I'm happy for it to be unprotected; was fully protected years ago because of issues caused by an LTA (and also an issue of my doing). Someone should have made me aware of this too Nightfury 11:00, 21 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
